In this episode, DJ Eidson and Harry Wilson get a chance to talk with Dr. Hillary McBride. Hillary gives us a snapshot of why therapy is so important for those who want to break the generational trauma and repair the fabric of society. Her podcast Other People’s Problems was reviewed in the New York Times in Sept 2020. She is a registered clinical counselor in Vancouver, Canada, and holds a Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology from UBC. Her areas of clinical and research specialty focus on trauma, and trauma therapies, eating disorders, body image, sex and sexuality, embodiment, and the intersection of spirituality and mental health. Hillary’s work has been recognized by both the American and Canadian Psychological Associations, and she was recently awarded the International Young Investigator Award for her research contributions so early in her career. Her first book is Mothers, Daughters, and Body Image: Learning to Love Ourselves as We Are (Post Hill Press, 2017), and she is the editor of a textbook, Embodiment and Eating Disorders: Theory, Research, Prevention and Treatment (Routledge, 2018), she also has a new book coming out end of 2021.

She is a former NCAA basketball coach determined to pursue her dream of working with NBA teams. Was homeless and living in her car, visualized her success, and achieved her goal! Laura is a mental performance coach that specializes in helping athletes and teams get in the zone which helps them have resilience, consistency, and adaptability. Coach Laura is a thought leader in the field of holistic player development and holistic sports medicine. She works with elite NCAA and WNBA, NBA, NFL, and MLB athletes, staff, and coaches. In 2012 she created Quantum Sports Medicine and Quantum Player Development. These fields fill the gap between the quantum and western practices for athletes so that building the whole person becomes the key in player development. This way, deep-level healing becomes the greater purpose for player development and sports medicine. She is also the author of these books: The Cosmic Athlete, Quantum Sports Medicine, Making the Team: 64 Ways to Succeed in School, Sports and Life, and The Map of Your Future. Her newest book is The Power of Intuition Intelligence, written with co-author EnRico Melson, M.D. Laura is a former NCAA two-sports college scholarship athlete and an NCAA Head Coach. Her big addition to the field of sports performance is in the area of epigenetics. Through her studies with a molecular biologist, Coach Laura has learned that epigenetic markers on the DNA code affect player performance. As a practitioner in this new field of epigenetic energy medicine and other holistic healing modalities, she can help identify and release these markers to improve health and performance for athletes. She is also the Founder of CHAMPS: the Coalition of Holistic Athletic Mental Performance Specialists. Her education includes Bachelor’s Degrees in English Literature and Holistic Health Sciences and she is currently working toward her Ph.D. in Quantum Medicine. She is a former NCAA Grad Asst. Coach at Pepperdine University, an NCAA Head Basketball Coach at UC Santa Cruz and University of Dallas, a High School Coach at Malibu High School, and a former NCAA basketball and track scholarship athlete. In this episode, Harry and DJ talk with Dr. Sheila Davis about her experiences in leading through crisis. She shares her heart for people, and why she feels it is important to be an agent of change. One of the things that stands out is how she leads with transparency and is not afraid to be human. There are a lot of leadership lessons in this one. From nurse to CEO of Partners in Health. Dr. Davis holds a doctorate in nursing and has a long history of serving the poor and marginalized—working closely with patients suffering from HIV in the 1980s, both in the U.S. and abroad. For the past decade, she has held multiple cross-site roles at Partners In Health. After joining the organization in 2010, Dr. Davis was instrumental in the planning and opening of Hôpital Universitaire de Mirebalais, a 300-bed teaching hospital in Haiti. When PIH entered West Africa to help address the Ebola epidemic, Dr. Davis, then Chief Nursing Officer and a member of the executive leadership team, led the organization’s Ebola response. Later, she took on the additional role of Chief of Clinical Operations. Wearing both hats, Dr. Davis has married her activism, pragmatism, and implementation skills to elevate Partners In Health’s nursing programs and all of the clinical operations, firmly establish the organization’s nursing strategy, and heighten the professionalism and inclusiveness of the organization’s thousands of nurses, midwives, and community health workers.

“Don't leave your greatness to chance." - Dr. Jen Welter Dr. Jen Welter is the first female to coach in the NFL. (2015 linebackers coach for the Arizona Cardinals), Following her record-breaking accomplishment with the Cardinals, Welter became the head coach of the first Australian women’s national team in 2017. Welter became the first woman to play running back in a men's professional football league with the Texas Revolution. Prior to joining the world of men’s professional football, Welter had a highly decorated 14-year career in women’s professional football which included four World Championships, two gold medals as a member of Team USA in the 2010 and 2013 International Federation of American Football’s (IFAF) Women’s World Championship, and eight all-star selections. She was inducted into the first class of the Women’s Football Hall of Fame on November 30, 2018. Welter is committed to increasing access and opportunities in football. To empower women through football, Welter designed her signature program, “A Day in the Life,” Camp which debuted with the Washington Redskins women's program in 2015. She continues to create a range of camps for girls and women through her GRRRidiron Flag Football Camp, along with a number of other community initiatives like her Camp on the Corner program that brings football to youth in under-served areas. She released her first publication, “Play Big: Lessons in Being Limitless from the First Woman to Coach in the NFL” in 2017.
