Carl Roberts, Iwan Roberts and Sam Vokes reflect on a wild night in Brussels that led to Craig Bellamy's first defeat as Wales coach. Despite battling back from 3-0 down with goals from Harry Wilson, Sorba Thomas and Brennan Johnson, Wales ultimately left the Belgian capital empty handed. Was it a missed opportunity to take points off the group favourites, or was Bellamy right to keep pushing for a win?And with no end in sight to Cardiff City's managerial hunt, how much of an impact will the continuing uncertainty have on their pre-seasons plans?
Cardiff City's 18-year-old right-back Ronan Kpakio was the surprise name in Wales' squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Liechtenstein and Belgium at the beginning of next week. Manager Craig Bellamy didn't hold back in his praise for Kpakio, who has only six senior appearances to his name, during the media conference in Cardiff to announce the squad. Carl and Daf were in attendance at St Fagans National Museum of History as Bellamy enthused about the qualify of other youngsters also coming through the ranks, and welcomed the return of the influential pair of Ethan Ampadu and Harry Wilson.
After a brilliant display and some beautiful goals against Brentford, Fulham take on Manchester City at Craven Cottage for the final game of the season. With absolutely no pressure on Silva's side, Fulham might have a good chance of getting a great result. Elizabeth and Jack take on the last Thursday Club preview episode of the season, talking all things Brentford and the perfect substitutions made, Josh King and Harry Wilson. They preview the game against Man City and de Bruyne last Premier League game for them, hoping that it won't be the last for Cairney as well. In part two, they answer some of your listener questions. Oh Fulham have done it! They've only gone and done it again, come from behind to keep the Bees at bay. Those Jimenez and Cairney headers and a 30 yard screamer from Harry Wilson will write themselves into the annals of Fulham folklore for generations to come. George is joined by Drew, Piers and Jack Kelly to revel in the glory that comes after keeping West London black and white. In part one, they discuss the importance of this derby win for ending the season with not such a sick feeling. They also look at the effectiveness of the substitutions made by Marco Silva, possibly putting such criticisms to bed, and give credit to a star showing from Josh King. In part two, they answer some of your listener questions. What would Andy Farrell's Lions team look like if the first Test against Australia was next week? What positions are still up for grabs? And where is Farrell spoilt for choice? Ugo and Chris discuss all this and chat to the Wallabies captain Harry Wilson to get his take on the Lions after playing all four home nations during the Autumn Nations Series. Are there certain players he is keeping an eye on during the Six Nations? And after Netflix announced they will not be doing another series of Full Contact, how big of a missed opportunity is it to grow the game? What is the best way to capture a new audience while keeping loyal fans engaged - does the perfect balance exist? With the Superbowl this weekend, we ask what can rugby learn from the NFL and what a bit American promotion would do for the Lions tour.
A hugely contrasting January transfer window for the four Welsh EFL clubs provides plenty of taking points. Swansea's lack of signings has prompted concern from the Supporters Trust, with Iwan also critical of how the club dealt with the departure of captain Matt Grimes to Coventry. Cardiff's activity - particularly in signing highly-rated Leicester youngster Will Alves - helped to mask the seven-goal mauling at Leeds as crucial league games await this month. Wrexham showed their intent with a flurry of high-profile forward signings, and celebrated with a dance lesson from a Hollywood star. Newport gave themselves much needed-breathing space with two crucial wins, and bolstered the threadbare squad.Sam gives an update on his coaching status at Wycombe with the arrival of a new manager, and welcomes the club's decision to hold onto key players for the League One title push. And who will fill Harry Wilson's boots as the Wales' World Cup qualifying campaign draws nearer?

We also talk through Fulham's striker situation and whether we should be doing better in front of goal. The end of the international break is nigh and Fulham return to the Cottage this weekend to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers, who have struggled for form this season but who did pick up their first win before the break against Southampton. We take a look at Gary O'Neil's charges and examine where this game will be won and lost, as well as some of the injuries and system changes that have shaped Wolves' season. Before that though, there's a look back at the International Whites who were in action - Harry Wilson with another scorcher for Wales as his good form continues, Raul Jimenez's impressive leadership as he helped steer Mexico out of tricky waters, single-game showings for Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi and Joachim Andersen, an impressive change of role for Antonee Robinson, Timothy Castagne captaining Belgium, and two assists for Sander Berge for Norway. And there's also time for a little discussion of how Sasa Lukic fits back into this Fulham midfield when he returns from his injury, as well as a couple of your emails to round things off. Another match week, another London Derby, as we look ahead to Saturday's visit to Selhurst Park where Fulham will come up against a slightly faltering Crystal Palace side - something we wouldn't have expected after their showing at the Cottage late last season. Before that though, we've unsurprisingly got a few more things to say about Monday's dramatic derby day win over Brentford, where Harry Wilson came up with his own late, late show to give Fulham a well-deserved three points. We question Thomas Frank's very bizarre tactics, as well as picking out some of the quirks of what was a strange, but still positive, performance from Marco Silva's men. And to wrap things up there's a few emails to get through, before we're joined by the Walking Almanac of Fulham, Harry Healy, who has been going viral on social media. Hello Rank Squad!Something a little bit different this week, a little bit more out of the old school B/R Football Ranks playbook, as we do a live ranking of the world's footballing superstars in the current day and age - based on both their star power, their influence on their teams, and their form so far in this season. The first debate is what makes a 'superstar' - shirt sales? Goal and assist numbers? Global adoration? Once that's out of the way, we take ten names and try to order them in terms of where they fit in the current pantheon - are the days of Ronaldo and Messi dominating the landscape completely gone? Are the dynamic duo of Mbappé and Haaland now dominant? Or have others like Vinicius Jr and Lamine Yamal disrupted the situation so much that they now sit at the forefront? We discuss it all. Before that though, there's time for Things We Love, where this week we're talking about Fulham's dramatic West London Derby win over Brentford thanks to two stoppage time goals from Harry WIlson, as well as Damien Duff leading Shelbourne to a dramatic League of Ireland title in his first senior job in managament. The international break is over, and it was a pretty wild one for Fulham players - Harry Wilson shining for Wales, Raúl's resurgence for Mexico, Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey getting stuck in an airport, Andreas's exceptional scissor kick for Brazil, Sasa's sad injury blow, ups and downs for Sander Berge, and a delicious assist for Timmy Castagne. It's never quiet round SW6. We look back at all that, before moving ahead with a discussion of Aston Villa's visit to the Cottage on Saturday, which will prove another tricky test against a Champions League calibre side, and then we round things off with a few questions, a look at the changes to the fixture schedule (and the parking situation at the Cottage), as well as a little quiz where Sammy tests Jack and Yasmin on the pricing for the new hospitality options in the Riverside stand. -- SHOW LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. The Thursday Club reconvenes as club football returns, with Sammy and Jack talking about the performances of our International Whites - including a screamer from Harry Wilson for Wales, Fulham vs Fulham as Joachim's Denmark beat Sasa's Serbia, and Josh King captaining the England U19s. We also discuss the Deadline Day activity that saw Jay Stansfield depart for Birmingham and Reiss Nelson come in on loan, as well as the club's sponsorship deal with IUX, which has been critiqued by investigative journalist Martin Calladine. Martin jumped on with our friends at Fulham Focus for a full interview, which they've kindly let us use a snippet of here, but to listen to the full podcast, which we thoroughly recommend, you can listen here. Then it's onwards to West Ham. We take a look at how the Hammers have started the season, as well as their new additions; before examining any changes Marco is likely to make ahead of this one. And finally, we finish with a couple of emails, a first This'll Catch On for Emile Smith Rowe, and a chat about the Fulham Barclaysmen of yesteryear. -- If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs. Has Gerry Beckley retired? Does he still sing with America? Who influenced the band America? All these questions answered this week. Gerry Beckley is a singer/songwriter best known as a founding member of the classic soft rock outfit America. Alongside bandmates Dewey Bunnell and Dan Peek, Gerry first gained recognition for hits like 1971's "Horse with No Name," 1972's "Ventura Highway," 1975's "Sister Golden Hair," and others. Though he and Dewey have continued to perform as America until recenlty, Gery has also recorded under his own name since the mid '90s, releasing such mellow, well-crafted albums as 2022's Aurora and 2024's self -titled album Gerry Beckley. Gerry was born in Texas in 1952. He grew up as the son of an American air force officer and a British mother. Interested in music from a young age, he began playing piano at age three and later added guitar. By the time he was ten, Gerry was a promising musician playing in the surf rock band the Vanguards. He had also come under the influence of The Beatles and other British Invasion-era bands as a result of spending his summer vacations in England. In 1967, Gerry moved with his family to London after his father took over as commander at the United States Air Force base. It was while attending High School that he befriended classmates Dewey Bunnell and Dan Peek. The three quickly formed a band and began performing at a local all-ages club, playing covers by bands like Crosby, Stills and Nash, Neil Young and others. The trio eventually caught the attention of a local promoter and producer, who recorded them and helped them get a record deal. In 1971, they released the single, "A Horse with No Name." A hit the world over, the single propelled the band to early success. With America, Gerry Beckley enjoyed decades of popularity, releasing over 20 albums, touring globally, and penning numerous songs that helped to define both the soft rock and adult contemporary radio formats. Gerry Beckley began to release successful solo material in 1995 with Van Go Gan. The album featured Gerry backed by a bevy of longtime friends and collaborators, including Dewey Bunnell, trumpeter Mark Isham, the Eagles' Timonthy B. Schmit and others. That album was followed by a remix album. Away from America, Gerry next delivered 2000's LIke A Brother- a collaboration with Chicago singer/keyboardist Robert Lamm and the Beach Boys' Carl WIlson who died from lung cancer after completing the album in 1998. The record featured a mix of originals from each member of the band , as well as a cover of Harry Wilson's "Without You" In 2006, Beckley returned with his third solo album, Horizontal Fall. The compilation album Happy Hour was released in 2009. SInce then many solos albums have followed. Gerry has recently married and moved to Sydney Australia where he spends six months of the year. He has resigned from touring with America to concentrate on furthering his solo career. His latest self titled solo album is being touted as his best ever. Gerry plays the bulk of the instruments but gets help from a core group of players that includes former Chicago bassist Jason Scheff, guitarist Steve Fekete, drummers Brian Young and Ryland Steen along with backing vocalists Jeff Larson and Brian Eichenberger. Nick Lane and Matt Combs, also longtime musical fellow travelers, arranged horn and string parts, respectively. It's a collection of 12 original tunes featuring the singles "Red and Blue" and "Well Worn Shoes." Gerry Beckley joins us this week to walk us through his incredible career. That's all, folks. Fulham's 23/24 season is done and dusted, and we finished things off in fine style with an extremely fun 4-2 win over Luton on their own patch, officially condemning the Hatters back to the Championship. We take a look back at the game, examining some particularly impressive performances from the front three of Raul Jimenez, Adama Traore and Harry Wilson, as well as analysing why Marco deployed the players he did for our curtain closer. Then we dig into some of your questions in Part Two, exploring a possible return for Ryan Sessegnon, why none of the youth players were called up for involvement in Sunday's game, if Harry Wilson's goal was the perfect Marco Silva move, if we should look at making a move for ex-Academy man Elijah Adebayo, and how Jay Stansfield might fit into this team after his loan spell at Birmingham. -- 00:00 - Luton (A) in review 31:16 - Your questions -- SHOW-LINKS: If you enjoy Fulhamish, please consider contributing a small amount monthly to help pay our costs.
