We asked Dave to describe Micah -  Micah Adams is one of Australia's most published and probably broadcast fishing writers and presenters. If you have him on your boat he's also an “A” list angler with almost any tackle. His travel destination and species list is also something to aspire to.. With more than 20 years of fishing together these guys have some stories to get through.. We hope you enjoy the show as much as we have.

Tales of rare exotic species, near alcohol poisoning and hair dye are all on the table here.  Also, we have a discussion about destination angling versus ruling your local waters and how that impacts your skills as an angler.  This show is brought to you by Nervous Water, Kettafly, Power Pole, Beast Brushes and Flats Craft.

On this episode.. 2 Trout Guides and 1 Queenslander... We are joined by Shane Wakker of Baw Baw Flyfisher, and Jimmy Barwick of Snowy Valley Flyfishing. Both of these guys fish wild bodies of water, but both have a very different situation to chase Trout. The fact of the matter is that we at the Intermediate line simply don't have the experience to provide a technical show about Trout so we got 2 dudes on who know their stuff to do the heavy lifting for that aspect of the show.  On the show, we talk about a range of topics from the different ways to catch trout ( Dries, Nymphing, Streamers), rods, casting, lines as well as a bit of a deep dive on fly terminology. As the host, I definitely came away much wiser about Trout fishing in Australia and it was inspiring enough for me to want to head south in the not too distant future.   This show is brought to you by Nervous Water, Kettafly, Power Pole, Beast Brushes and Flats Craft.

On this sort of Australia day special episode, we thought you couldn't get more of an Aussie Fly Fishing dream than giving up everything moving to Weipa and working with one of the oldest and most respected guide outfits in Australia. Kurt, a former Hervey Bay Guide, had the universe show him that it was time to bail and head to Weipa, that was over a year ago now and we catch up with Kurt to talk about this huge life change. Yep, we defiantly still talk about the fishing, we also talk about the changes in the scene up there and finally, someone with common sense talks about stepping in the water in probably one of the most dangerous places on earth do so.  Fish's Fly and Sportfishing is loved by the local community, all the guides live there full time and in a place where everyone knows everyone, that makes for a very seamless operation that the punters benefit from. If your heading to Cape York Australia, you'd be crazy as a dedicated flyfisho to look at any other operation other than the oldest flyfishing operation in Cape York that is staffed by absolute wizards on the floppy stick. Also on this show, we bring up Australia enterprise, and some of our contributions to fly-fishing products world wide. Episode 168 - Fly Design, an Innovators Special. As the name suggests, Voltz and Chris break down the approach for innovation in future fly designs by looking at past designs and world class innovators in fly design. The hosts have both been involved with internationally influential fly design, and have first hand insights into the problems these flies were designed to overcome, these are discussed at length during the show.  For those that like to let the creativity of fly design flow through them, or to those that would like to stay true to the original innovators motivation when tying flies, this show is action packed.  There are so so many distractions in this modern era of fly tying that mute the understanding of a fly's original design, so we hope that this show offers the listener a re-approach to the way you view the flies you choose to maximise your results on the water... Sometimes following the beef is not enough, and the ability to adapt to your unique species, or a situation you find a common species can mean the difference between fly fishing being a hard thing, or an effective way to catch fish. This show puts a big part of that puzzle in place for any level of fly tyer, fly designer, or fly consumer.... We both agree, that this episode is core information for improving your results on the water. Fun fact, the picture shown here is the very first fly of what is known as the Slow Water Game Changer, no others came before this fly anywhere in the world.... it is now a very popular fly internationally.  This show is brought to you by Nervous Water, Kettafly, Power Pole and Beast Brushes.

Many will already know about Brett as the guy who put Exmouth on the map as one of Australia's premier fly fishing destinations. It would be fair to say that Brett is the one, who as a guide, developed Exmouth as Australia's most consistent Bonefish fishery. In more recent years, Bretts achievements with permit are hard to ignore. Having both Blochii and Anak Permit, and the incredible biosphere that is the Exmouth Gulf, makes Brett one of the leading operation in OZ to offer many shots at single and small schooled fish, which is what anyone who aims to test themselves on Permit aspires too. On this show Brett offers up some great insights from a guides perspective on fly placement and reading the fishes mood. This show turned out great and is not one to be missed by any self respecting Permaphile.  Exmouth is definitely not only about Permit and Bonefish, and we don't ignore that either as we delve into Bretts experiences with the other great species that are on offer around the Exmouth Gulf and Ningaloo reef.  If you keen to see more of what Brett offers, checkout his website www.ningalooflyfishing.com.au  This show is brought to you by Nervous Water, Kettafly, Power Pole and Beast Brushes

On Episode 162- We had a request to make a show that explains fly tying materials.. So on this show, the hosts sit down and talk about some fly tying materials because your wish is our command ; ). We say "some materials" in the title because no one knows all fishing intimately, and we only tie flies to catch fish, so we cant swerve out of our lane and pretend to know about materials that we have no experience with. At the time of writing this, it was about 2 weeks ago we recorded the show... I am pretty sure there is a lot of talk about natties... Bucktail, feathers, Bucktail alternatives, fur v hair, some synthetics and why fly tying materials need to be viewed differently to a lure fishing approach.  If your new to fly tying for fly fishing, or even into fly tying for the gram, there will defiantly be some nuggets in here that will build your knowledge and may even challenge your mindset as a fly tyer or even fly fisherman. On Episode 158, our very first international on location podcast!! What can I say to sum up the Tauranga that Gian Booysen showed off... put simply, as a flats destination, Tauranga is the most undersold saltwater flats fishery in the world !! The place is a mecca and for many people standing on the outside looking in (trout fishermen, and Saltwater Fly fishermen from overseas) who are already aware of Kingfish (Yellowtail) on the flats, particularly the famous ray riders which are definitely very very cool, but.... the free swimming Kingfish are truly a special target... Fussy, big, challenging to see and you absolutely will see your arbour knot in 5 seconds flat !! Think GT and Bonefish and you will be almost on the money regarding the approach and fight these Kingfish offer. Tauranga is a place that no matter the conditions offers truly epic saltwater flyfishing. Personally, the most incredible part of the journey was proper size Snapper in knee deep water, tipping and tailing like any premier flats fish you can think of. They (Snapper) eat all the same stuff you throw at Permit or Goldies, they go super hard ( you will see plenty of backing) and if your fishing deeper than chest deep, your wasting your time.  The other two main species Kahawai and Silver Trevally are definitely no slouches either and they also get a great run on the podcast... Both are also members of the Tauranga super slam which is a very achievable goal when fishing with Gian from  https://www.kingstobefound.com/  This podcast is proudly presented by Nervous Water, Power Pole, Kettafly and Beast Brushes

On Episode 156, The hosts reflect back on their respective almost 25 years of flyfishing each, to offer hindsight for beginners and talk about what it was like for them starting out. The show is themed along the lines of what they would do again or do differently if presented with the opportunity to start out again. This essentially is an episode for those starting out, or are interested in giving  the "fluff wand" a go. The show covers gear selection and compares what the industry wants to sell you versus what you should be buying. Where should you funnel the most funds on a budget. Reels and lines a decision making process that's more simple than you'd think. Figuring out the casting, how important is it to get it right early on, or can you just get by with a scented fly and burley until you get better. Also, the raging debate on whether you should buy or tie flies, and how important is understanding fly tying to a beginner.  I think if your listening to this as a beginner or looking to get back to basics, you will find a very trimmed pragmatic approach to fly fishing that involves no mystery or elitism... Just an effective way to fish that will require a bit of discipline on your part, and not a lot of money.  As always, the show exists because of these great sponsors Nervous Water, Kettafly, Power Pole and Beast Brushes

Since then, a bit has been going on. As many will know, Mackay has earned its place on the Permit map, and Paul, although not the first person to catch them there, is what we believe is the first person to setup and guide for Permit in the area... And what an impact he has made!! You will hear on the show that last year, Paul got his clients 26 Permit in the net, from 28 days guiding, and many many more that in shots with some dropped fish too. All this after the first half of the year ruined by record floods and a record cold winter in an area that has 5 meter tide variations.  Pauls passion for his local permit is infectious, you will find it hard not to connect to the passion he radiates during this interview.
