Aaron and Josh are lifelong Miami Dolphins fans. They've followed the team through ups and downs and continue to do so. They watch, discuss, and analyze their beloved Miami Dolphins and wonder whether this team is something different of if they're just the Same Old Dolphins.
With Josh out of town, Aaron the Brain is joined by a special guest to look ahead to the Dolphins' Week 2 matchup with the New England Patriots. Can the Dolphins bounce back from their hideous display in Indianapolis in Week 1? Has Tua regressed or was Week 1 an aberration? Is Mike McDaniel cooked? Aaron and David discuss on another episode of THE SAME OLD DOLPHINS SHOW at DolphinsTalk.com!
For months and months, despite counter-narrative attempts by the organization, objective observers have stately plainly that the Dolphins' 2025 offseason was proceeding in such a way that a road to a disastrous season was becoming clearer. In fact, it felt like it was among the most likely possibilities. After the Dolphins were dismantled, destroyed, and embarrassed by the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season, it feels like the possibility of a disaster season is all but a certainty. Aaron and Josh are back to unpack the reactions to the game, including the news that the Dolphins didn't just lose – they suffered serious, and potentially devastating injury setbacks. They look at both sides of the ball and each give their #OneHotTake for the game before sharing the thoughts of their listeners as well. It's here! Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season is now officially upon us. With the offseason now in the rearview, we are looking ahead to what the 2025 season may hold for the Miami Dolphins and on today's show, we're looking at the best case scenarios only. –WHAT IF Tua stays healthy all season? –WHAT IF Tyreek Hill returns to his 2023 form? –WHAT IF the offensive line take a big step forward? –WHAT IF the pieced-together secondary turns out to be good? –WHAT IF Mike McDaniel takes big steps forward in situational decision-making? –WHAT IF the running game returns to form? –WHAT IF Miami DOES have the best pass rush in the NFL? Today, Aaron and Josh are strapping on their aqua and orange lenses to take an optimistic view of the Dolphins' 2025 season on another fun episode of THE SAME OLD DOLPHINS SHOW at DolphinsTalk.com!
With the final preseason game out of the way, the Miami Dolphins began the cutdown to their initial 53-man roster on Monday. While many of the cuts that happened were players you would have expected the Dolphins to part ways with, Mike Hilton and, to a lesser extent Pharaoh Brown's releases were surprises. Can we read anything into these cuts? Who else should we expect to be released? We also received some injury updates from Mike McDaniel today, including the news that Jason Sanders is expected to miss 4-5 weeks with a hip injury that McDaniel had previously suggested was not something to be concerned about. Additionally, Jaylen Wright is expected to miss at least Week 1 and while Austin Jackson and De'Von Achane's timelines have McDaniel more optimistic about a Week 1 return, it's not a certainty that they'll be ready to go. Aaron and Josh are back to discuss all of this and more on another fun episode of THE SAME OLD DOLPHINS SHOW at DolphinsTalk.com!
We're nearly there, folks! On Saturday, the Miami Dolphins will play their 2025 preseason finale at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars. After that, the team will cut the roster down to its initial 53 players and begin prepping for the regular season. Of course, the end of the preseason this year is bringing some injury concerns as well as Jaylen Wright and Jordyn Brooks suffered injuries at Thursday's joint practice with the Jaguars. How concerned should we be? Who will make the final 53? Aaron and Josh are back to discuss this and a lot more on another fun episode of THE SAME OLD DOLPHINS SHOW at DolphinsTalk.com!
After a week where the Miami Dolphins were reportedly trounced in a joint practice by the Detroit Lions only to bounce back the next day, fans are suffering a bit of whiplash. Or, perhaps, they're just ready to see some real competitive football with their own eyes. Or maybe the Dolphins are actually kinda bad. Or maybe the Dolphins were just working things out in practice. Or maybe the the Detroit Lions are actually a "juggernaut." Aaron and Josh are back to attempt to see through the bluster and try to ssess what's real and what's not and whether or not there should actually be some concerns. Then they look ahead to Week 2 of the preseason and who they hope to see shine and/or bounce back after last week's preseason game against the Bears. With Kader Kohou out for the season with a torn ACL and Ashtyn Davis out for at least some time, the Miami Dolphins' secondary – which was already the weakest unit on the team – is now a complete disaster. Can the Dolphins figure out a solution? Does this doom the team for 2025? How do they even more forward? Plus, some positive notes from training camp including the play of the QBs, Patrick Paul, Kenneth Grant, and Willie Gay. With the 2025 NFL Draft in the books for nearly a week, now seems like the perfect time for Aaron and Josh to get together and share their lukewarm takes about the Miami Dolphins' 2025 draft and UDFA classes. If there was any doubt that this Miami Dolphins offseason marked a transition from a team trying to compete for championships RIGHT NOW to a team trying to rebuild for the future, the news that the Dolphins and Jalen Ramsey are working together to find a new team for the future Hall of Famer should remove it. Chris Grier gave a tepid press conference earlier this week, trying desperately to spin the current situation, but it is unlikely that anyone is buying. The Dolphins' offseason is rapidly going off the rails, raising the question of just how far this team is from actually competing and leaving some people wondering whether there will be considerably more turnover in the months and years to come. Aaron and Josh are back to discuss all of this AND do a seven-round mock draft for their beloved Miami Dolphins. Join us for what is sure to be a spicy episode of THE SAME OLD DOLPHINS SHOW at DolphinsTalk.com!
The 2025 NFL Draft continues to get closer and closer and one of the consensus views of this year's draft class is that while it's not super top heavy, there is A LOT of value to be found on Day Two of the draft. With that in mind, Aaron and Josh are back to discuss how they think the Dolphins should approach the second of the 2025 draft's three days. But first they have to discuss the seemingly endless off-field drama involving Tyreek Hill, which resurfaced this week following a domestic dispute involving his wife, mother-in-law, and baby. As the dust begins to settle from the first wave of NFL free agency, a clearer picture begins to emerge in terms of what the Miami Dolphins' 2025 offseason plans are. As is typical, they avoided splashing out big money on big names and opted for the familiar refrain of looking for a bargain on high-upside players with injury histories. They also decided to bring some players on expiring deals back Some appear to be solid moves, but some have left Dolphins fans scratching their heads. Aaron and Josh are back to determine if the Dolphins are on the right course to improvement of if they are still on track to be...well, you can probably guess. What an absolute circus of clown shoes. The Miami Dolphins' 2024 season came to a close in appropriately embarrassing fashion on Sunday: by allowing Aaron Rodgers to look like his former self and pass all over them. Tyler Huntley looked inept and out of his depth. Mike McDaniel did too. It was just gross. And then, with Dolphins fans optimistic that changes would be made in the organization, Stephen Ross put out a statement that GM Chris Grier and Head Coach Mike McDaniel would lead the Miami Dolphins through the offseason and into the 2025 season. WELP! How could things get worse? Well how about a couple of your team captains putting on their prima donna pants and crying that they want to leave? Jalen Ramsey took to social media with cryptic posts, but Tyreek Hill was much more explicit in a postgame interview. And, of course, there's still the $230 million dollar question about Tua Tagovailoa. So what happens now? What do you do with the wreckage of this season? Aaron and Josh are back to discuss it all on THE SAME OLD DOLPHINS SHOW at DolphinsTalk.com!

The Miami Dolphins did what they needed to do to keep their slim playoff hopes on life support on Sunday by defeating the Cleveland Browns 20-3. Tyler Huntley demonstrated an improved comfort with the team's offense and played better than in his previous appearances, leading the team in rushing along the way. Tyreek Hill had a bounce back game and Jonnu Smith equaled the franchise record for touchdowns in a single season by a tight end. The defense largely performed as you would expect them to against a subpar quarterback in Dorian Thompson-Robinson, bending-but-not-breaking and holding the Browns to three points on the day. Of course, many of the Mike McDaniel Dolphins' hallmark shortcomings were on display as well, but Miami is still better than this Cleveland team that is simply playing out the string and angling for the highest draft pick possible. While the win was important in terms of ensuring the Dolphins play a mathematically significant game in Week 18, the larger concern for the team was the absence of Tua Tagovailoa, who missed his fifth game of the season after a hip injury suffered two weeks ago in Houston and aggravated against San Francisco left him unable to participate in the eyes of the team's training staff. Tua's inability to be available didn't cost the Dolphins on this day, but there is uncertainty about his availability in Week 18 and it surely must be front of mind for this organization as it prepares for what will be a pivotal offseason, whether it begins next Sunday evening or later. Aaron and Josh are back to discuss all of this and more on the 2024 calendar year finale of THE SAME OLD DOLPHINS SHOW at DolphinsTalk.com!
It's a Festivus celebration! The Miami Dolphins defeated the San Francisco 49ers 29-17, keeping their very faint playoff hopes alive for at least another seven days. It was one of the most complete wins of the season for the Dolphins, with the offense, defense, and special teams each contributing. But does a home victory over a mediocre 49ers actually change any of the existing narratives or future outlook for this team? If saw Stephen Ross on the sideline at the end of the game or in the locker room after the game, you would certainly think so. What do Aaron and Josh think? We'll find out as they react to the game and air their Festivus grievances on a very special holiday episode of THE SAME OLD DOLPHINS SHOW at DolphinsTalk.com! You better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout, I'm tellin' you why... Because there are still three Miami Dolphins football games left and we might as well enjoy them now before they're gone! Kyle Shanahan, Brock Purdy, and the San Francisco 49ers are coming to town for a game that doesn't mean nearly as much as we might have thought or hoped earlier in the year. Regardless, it's going to happen and Jim Nantz and Tony Romo are coming for the big CBS broadcast as well. Both teams are banged up. Both teams are unlikely to make the playoffs, though neither will officially be eliminated at kickoff. Who has the edge? In a development that should shock absolutely nobody, the Miami Dolphins FAILED to win a road game in December against a playoff-bound opponent. And the blame can be pointed at all the usual suspects. Their $230M franchise quarterback saved arguably his worst performance of the season for one of the biggest games. The WR1 whom the Dolphins traded premium draft capital to acquire once again disappeared, running incorrect routes and dropping passes. The shorthanded offensive line, which we were assured we were more worried about than the front office, was shredded. Once again, the Dolphins were softer and weaker than their opponents. Once again, the Dolphins were outcoached by their opponents. And once again, the Dolphins will complete a season of football without a postseason victory. Aaron and Josh are back to discuss it all on another episode of the ever-so-aptly-titled SAME OLD DOLPHINS SHOW at DolphinsTalk.com.
After defeating the Jets last week, the Dolphins head into the toughest remaining matchup on their schedule: a road date with the Houston Texans. the game provides the Dolphins with yet another opportunity to prove they can beat a playoff-caliber opponent on the road. Can they take advantage of it? Aaron and Josh are back to look at what is going to be a big test for a tired, beat up, and ultimately unproven Miami Dolphins team. Can the Dolphins' defense bounce back and slow down CJ Stroud? Will Bradley Chubb return to the field? Can the Dolphins' offense keep firing on all cylinders? Most Dolphins fans found themselves hoping for a relatively easy Sunday afternoon where they'd see their team smash the struggling New York Jets. After all, the Jets were beat up, out of sorts, and playing out the string of an absolutely catastrophic failure of a season. What they got instead was a hard-fought, back-and-forth football game that required some late-game heroics (and some fortunately timed game mismanagement) for the Dolphins to eventually make it over the finish line with a 32-26 victory in their penultimate home game of the season. Was this a gutsy victory for Miami that proves their mettle or was this just another Same Old Dolphins performance where they did just enough to beat a bad opponent and keep hope alive before eventually breaking their fans' hearts somewhere down the line? After a disappointing performance on Thanksgiving Night, the Miami Dolphins will be back in action on Sunday, taking on the team that has been a three ring circus wrapped in a tin foil hat and tossed into a dumpster fire: the Stinkin' New York Jets. With their own season teetering on the edge of disaster, the Dolphins need a big bounce back performance. Can they get a more consistent performance from their defensive unit? Can some of the younger players on the roster continue to develop? Can they get the victory that officially eliminates any lingering playoff hopes from the Jets? Aaron and Josh are back to discuss it all on another fun episode of THE SAME OLD DOLPHINS SHOW!
Stop us if you've heard this one before: the Miami Dolphins, generating momentum with victories over bad and mediocre teams, had a chance to prove themselves a legitimate contender by taking on a quality opponent on the road in the winter on national television. Then, as if on cue, the Dolphins fell flat on their faces, looking confused and unprepared in the process. While they eventually found their footing, the damage was done and the Dolphins lost to the Green Bay Packers 30-17. So...now what? Aaron and Josh are back to react to the game and try to make sense of the final five games of the season for the Miami Dolphins. Join us as we explore the possibilities and engage with the absurdity on another episode of THE SAME OLD DOLPHINS SHOW at DolphinsTalk.com!
The Miami Dolphins CRUISED to victory over the New England Patriots on Sunday. It was the first time all season and perhaps since last November that things felt "easy" for the Dolphins, leaping out to a 31-0 lead early in the third quarter. From there, it felt like the Dolphins went into cruise control mode and things got a little sloppy on both side of the ball, but the Dolphins did what they needed to go and finished off a 34-15 win. The Dolphins now find themselves on a three-game winning streak with a 5-6 record heading into an absolutely crucial Thanksgiving Night matchup in Green Bay against the Packers. A win at Lambeau would bring the Dolphins back to .500 and, more importantly, be a statement that these are NOT actually just the Same Old Dolphins, but a team that could actually threaten to make a serious run at not just making the playoffs, but even possibly be a force to reckon with if they can make it there. It seems like it was in another lifetime when the Dolphins defeated the Patriots in Foxboro with Snoop Huntley leading the offense against Jacoby Brissett. Since then, the Dolphins have gotten Tua Tagovailoa back and their offense is rounding into form. The team is threatening to become a player in the race for the AFC playoffs. Meanwhile, the Patriots have moved on from Brissett and allowed their rookie QB Drake Maye to take the helm of the offense. Maye looks promising, but still has some maturing to do. Aaron and Josh are back to discuss the game and what the Dolphins must do to earn their third straight win, but before that, Josh sits down with returning guest Tico The Pats Fan to get his thoughts on what has been a very interesting stretch for the Patriots, Sunday's matchup, and the Miami Dolphins in general. The Miami Dolphins' offense was practically unstoppable as the Dolphins defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 34-19 on Sunday. Scoring on ever possession (except the very end of the first half), the team's offensive evolution took center stage. Not only did they take what the Raiders gave them, but Tua Tagovailoa was able to scramble and create plays off-schedule, a pair of characteristics that have been missing. Jonnu Smith had a career day. De'Von Achane continued to do De'Von Achane things. Odell Beckham, Jr. is getting more involved. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle remain a very dangerous receiving duo. The offense is really firing on all cylinders. On the defensive side of the ball, Calais Campbell and Zach Sieler remain wrecking balls, with Chop Robinson coming on strong as well. Unfortunately, Raiders' tight end Brock Bowers was basically unstoppable, so it's not all wine and roses for the Dolphins. Is this an encouraging sign? Are the Dolphins back in the race for a playoff spot? Are we back on the Kool Aid again? Aaron and Josh are back to discuss all this and more on another fun episode of THE SAME OLD DOLPHINS SHOW at DolphinsTalk.com!
After defeating the Rams on Monday Night Football, the Dolphins return home this week to take on the lowly Las Vegas Raiders, who come into the game on a five game losing streak, making them the coldest team in the NFL. Internally, Dolphins players and staff seem to believe that the return of Tua Tagovailoa has has a positive impact and that it is not beyond them to make a run at the playoffs, despite their 3-6 record. If that is really the case, it would seem that an absolute beatdown on the level of what the Dolphins were doing to subpar teams at the start of the 2023 season is in order. Can the Dolphins put in a complete performance and DOMINATE the Las Vegas Raiders? What does it mean if they can? What does it mean if they CAN'T? Aaron and Josh are back to discuss it all on another fun episode of THE SAME OLD DOLPHINS SHOW at DolphinsTalk.com!
The Miami Dolphins flew across the country in need of a big win to attempt to right a sinking ship. They got perhaps their best defensive performance of the season and another positive showing from the offense (though not without some warts). The Dolphins will fly back across the country bringing a big road win with them and, regardless of how you feel about their chances the rest of the way, that is in and of itself a good thing. Aaron and Josh stayed up after the DolphinsTalk Xtra watch along to react to the game on another episode of THE SAME OLD DOLPHINS SHOW!
While the season has been long, grueling, and not at all what anybody has hoped for thus far, the Dolphins still have 9 games to go. Can the Dolphins continue with the momentum their offense has built over the last two weeks? Can the defense get its act together against a potent offense? Can the Dolphins pickup a west coast win for the second straight year? Aaron and Josh are back to discuss the game on another fun episode of THE SAME OLD DOLPHINS SHOW at DolphinsTalk.com!
The Miami Dolphins played what was easily their best game of the 2024 season on Sunday in Buffalo. In fact, you could argue that it was the best game they've played in two and a half seasons under Mike McDaniel. It wasn't good enough. Despite of an excellent performance from Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins offense, the team fell short 30-27, losing on a 61-yard field goal in the game's dying seconds. The shorthanded defense again fell short, failing to stop Buffalo's offense from scoring in their final 5 possessions. Josh Allen did Josh Allen things and, when it seemed like they made the big play they needed, an undisciplined penalty gifted Buffalo a first down that provided to be the second chance they needed to put the game away. What are the takeaways from the game? What are the big picture implications? Aaron and Josh are back to discuss it on another episode of THE SAME OLD DOLPHINS SHOW at DolphinsTalk.com!
After a heartbreaking last-second loss to Arizona in Tua Tagovailoa's return in Week 8, almost all hope of salvaging the 2024 Miami Dolphins season went out the window. Now, the last vestiges of hope ride on Miami going into Buffalo and defeating the Bills on the road. To say optimism is low would be an understatement. With Aaron still traveling, Josh is joined by Kevin Dern of DolphinsTalk Weekly to preview the game and determine if there is any possible way the Dolphins can come home from Buffalo with a victory. Join us for another episode of THE SAME OLD DOLPHINS SHOW at DolphinsTalk.com!
The Miami Dolphins received a big lift on Sunday as Tua Tagovailoa returned to the field. The Dolphins' offense immediately looked cohesive and functional. They moved the ball well in the air and on the ground, much like the famous song suggests. However, as has been demonstrated time and again, they are not a well-coached team. Sloppy mistakes stunted promising drives. The team's $200 million dollar quarterback fumbled a snap that hit him in the hands, resulting in a safety. And the defense, which had been praised by many for the deceptive stats presented over the season's first six games, was absolutely shredded in the second half. The coach, who successfully established the run early, once again shied away from it late in the game. Some will blame injuries. Others will chalk it up to a brilliant performance by Kyler Murray. But the fact is, the Miami Dolphins have once again failed to put together a cohesive, 60-minute demonstration of complementary football. The result is that the team currently sits with a 2-5 record, three games behind the first-place Buffalo Bills, who are looming as a dominant road opponent in Week 9. The vibes are bad and there's ultimately nowhere for these players and coaches to point the finger but at themselves. With Aaron preparing to move out of the state of Florida, Josh is joined by Kadeem Simmonds of Go Time Dolphins to discuss all of this and more on another episode of THE SAME OLD DOLPHINS SHOW at DolphinsTalk.com!
Barring a significant development, the Miami Dolphins will have their QB1 back in the saddle this Sunday afternoon. Tua Tagovailoa is progressing through the concussion protocol and was a full participant in practice on Thursday. In more worrying news, Tyreek Hill was limited with a foot injury. That could be anything, but it's something to monitor. That aside, the Dolphins should be in position to bounce back from the largely dreadful offense they have executed over the last four games. Will Tua's comeback put the team on a winning trajectory? Will the team's defense slow down the athletic Kyler Murray and a potentially explosive Cardinals offense? Aaron and Josh are back to discuss it all on another fun episode of THE SAME OLD DOLPHINS SHOW at DolphinsTalk.com!
On Sunday afternoon, the Miami Dolphins once again lost a football game because the passing game was largely ineffective, highlighting the flawed build of the team. There were also flashing neon lights pointing to Mike McDaniel and Chris Grier's negligence. They neglected to field a suitable backup quarterback after investing in an injury-prone quarterback. McDaniel neglected to create an offense capable of running without the centerpiece quarterback and neglected to suitably simply if in that quarterback's absence. Grier neglected to suitably address the WR3 position. Their negligence leaves the Dolphins 2-4 after 7 weeks. The team's only hope rests on the return of their injury-prone quarterback and that player being able to stay healthy and lead the team to a second half resurgence. Doubt abounds. Aaron and Josh are back to discuss it on another episode of THE SAME OLD DOLPHINS SHOW at DolphinsTalk.com!

Sometimes a win is a win, even when it's not terribly pretty. That's what the Dolphins managed to do on Sunday in New England, beating out a very weak Patriots team 15-10 behind 193 rushing yards on 41 attempts. While it took some time (and a concussion to Devon Achane), the Dolphins finally began attacking the Patriots with downhill runs and it proved to be very effective. In fact, what proved to be the game-winning possession was a seven-and-a-half-minute, 80-yard drive that ended with seven consecutive runs that covered the final 52 yards of the possession. Winning with a straight forward running game? Weird. There are still plenty of things to worry about with new injuries to Achane and Jevon Holland, but for today at least, the Dolphins are in the win column and the big picture panic can be put on pause. It's been a nightmarish start to the season for the Miami Dolphins. After squeaking out a win in Week 1 against Jacksonville, the Dolphins have failed to even be competitive in the following three games, losing all of them. In the absence of QB Tua Tagovailoa, the team has crumbled. Mike McDaniel has failed to adapt and the team's backup quarterbacks have been underwhelming at best. Now they have lost Jaelan Phillips for the season...again. After another brutal loss on Monday at home against the Titans, the Dolphins head to Foxboro to take on the struggling New England Patriots. Will the Patriots be the medicine the Dolphins need to get their season on track? Or will Mike McDaniel remain stubborn and try to fit another square peg into a round hole? Aaron and Josh are back to discuss this and a whole lot more on another episode of THE SAME OLD DOLPHINS SHOW at DolphinsTalk.com!

The guys discuss all of this and how the team matches up with the Tennessee Titans on another episode of THE SAME OLD DOLPHINS SHOW at DolphinsTalk.com!
