I'm so excited to share my interview with Sarah Mauer. Sarah is a magical human that I've been so honored to work with in my capacity as a coach and also to call her a friend. Sarah bravely stepped into creating a future for her birth of her second child that felt more empowered and centered on how she wanted to feel. For so many of us the experience of childbirth is something that we are asked to just grit our teeth and bear. We are told, it's gonna feel like a train ran over you, so you should just get ready. But does it really need to be that way? Is there a more empowering way we can approach this experience? What holds us back from this? After a challenging birth from her first child, Sarah was committed to creating a different experience for the birth of her second. But to do this, she knew she needed to look at her past, process the trauma, and set intentions for a new experience. I was honored to support Sarah in this journey, supporting her to really step into her power and a woman, uncover her voice, and create the reality she craved. Can you relate to this? Maybe your experience is not childbirth...but where do you need to step into your own power? As always, thank you all so much for listening. Let's connect on socials! Hello my friends! In today's episode of the Wild Women Wild Soul Podcast, I dive into the idea of creative destruction. You might have heard this term from me before as it relates to the overall flow of the seasons - Gestation (winter), Birth (spring), maturity (summer), Creative destruction (fall) . I find comfort and meaning when I connect to the cycle of nature and the season and creative destruction is one of my favorite subjects, probably because we are often so uncomfortable with the ideas of death, loss, destruction in a society that loves the energies of spring and summer. Here we're thinking about creative destruction has the annual course of nature as we move through the Autumn season. It happens all around us & is a remarkable transition to experience and embody. The leaves change, they fall, our environment begins to destroy all that it grew through the spring and summer. But WHY? What is the reason behind this destruction? In ridding itself of the old, there is so much more room for the new. In nature it just happens. For us in life there is so much attachment to the old, the fruits we have grown, we often find this process uncomfortable. How are you allowing creative destruction to create a clearing for new growth to begin?

Hey there friends! In this episode of the Wild Women Wild Soul podcast, I deep dive into the mindset stories I had to overcome in order to act on my dream trip. 1 - Imposter syndrome to show up as a guide to my 3 brave friends. 2 - Future tripping wilderness catastrophes 3 - Releasing outcomes and the experience for others (other people will have their own experience and it's ok if they don't like it) 4 - Mom guilt and feeling so selfish!!!! 5- The need to be air traffic control for my family while I am gone. Come along with me in this episode to hear all about how I found my way through these blocks & made my dream trip to Alaska happen! The real lessons are not in the final destination, they are in the journey to get there.
There are some animals that show up for me frequently. Bears are one of them. Though I haven't had many in person sightings recently, I've begun to notice how often the bear shows up in meditation and self reflection. I got curious about what it might be meaning and saying to me right now. This episode I explore that bear energy and all that it brings.
Hello friends! In this episode of the podcast we're talking about unlikely friendships and finding support where you least expect it. We had a big loss in our family this week & had to say goodbye to our beloved bearded dragon Pickle Petunia. She became an unexpected rock to my family during this pandemic. She was the friend and companion we didn't know we needed, she never asked for anything, & always supported us when we needed it. This lesson is one that we can take with us always to our human friendships along the way. You can't ask of someone something they are unable to give, and expecting as such will lead to disappointment for all. This one is for you Pickle Petunia. We love you!
When wild adventure calls! On this episode I share my experience of getting very very quiet so that I could hear the call of my SOUL'S whispers and I talk about the process, mindset and support I needed to take action, one tiny step at a time to manifest my dream - a week with a few women kayaking in Alaska!
In this incredible conversation with Katie Allen, we get a beautiful peek at when someone is so solidly in their zone of genius. Katie is a stylist who has combined her love and passion for style with her desire to help women feel powerful, confident, and empowered in themselves. She is teaching female entrepreneurs how to take the overwhelm out of styling by reconnecting to their bodies. She believes when women feel confident in their clothes they live more optimistically, cultivate deeper self-respect, and attract more opportunities. Katie has made it her mission to help women do just that by syncing their style to their cycle, so they can build & run the businesses of their dreams. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did. Episode 29 of Wild Women Wild Soul Podcast with Katie Allen is available across all listening platforms.
Self trust is the ultimate act of self love. When you love yourself unconditionally, fully accepting the hiccups and challenges that you've had along the road, you are living deeply in trust. Trust in yourself, trust in spirit and thus trust in others.
This episode was recorded by Heidi Rumohr, host of the Ditch the Budget Podcast, and she was gracious enough to share it with me for this podcast! We all have a relationship and a story when it comes to money. In this episode I explore what is the work of Byron Katie and how it can change your mindset and open you up to more freedom, peace and joy in your life, even when dealing with the subject of money. Until we meet again, be brave and stay wild!
HAPPY EARTH DAY 2021! In this special episode I explore 4 ways to connect to the earth and why this connection is important for the restoration of our soul. I love the and the earth loves me back in the glorious moments of connection with a magical tree, the honoring of the indigenous and native people who lived and stewarded this land, the magic of a blooming garden, and the power of deeply feeling gratitude for the earth. It is a reciprocol relationship we seem to have stepped away from, just like we've stepped away from our souls. What happens when we connect to the earth? We begin the process of connecting deeper with our truest nature. “We need acts of restoration, not only for polluted waters and degraded lands, but also for our relationship to the world. "We need to restore honor to the way we live, so that when we walk through the world we don't have to avert our eyes with shame, so that we can hold our heads up high and receive the respectful acknowledgment of the rest of the earth's beings.” ― Robin Wall Kimmerer, Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants
I still remember how my mind would wander while I was driving to work all those years ago. It would start with a simple news story on the radio, and from there it would spiral. Before long my mind would be playing out catastrophic scenarios of bridge collapses and daring rescues in frigid water. I am not sure why I so frequently went to catastrophizing, but it was my go to most of the time. What helped ease my racing mind and slow the roar of the raging storm of my thoughts? Well, many things...but one of the most important was mindfulness. For me, mindfulness wasn't easy to pick up. I've been practicing for the past 13 years in one form or another. But with time it becomes easier and I am more able to see my thoughts and feelings as they were, without judgement or criticism. The following 7 principles from the Here and Now Habit helped me to better understand mindfulness and are still important pillars of my daily practice: 1) Non-judging - meeting your experience impartially, without evaluating it as good or bad, right or wrong, better or worse. 2) Patience - is the attitude of allowing things to unfold and be experienced in their own time, without rushing the and loosing connection with the present moment. 3) Beginners mind - willingness to meet this moment with curiosity, as something fresh and never before experienced. 4) Trust - honoring your own authority, inner wisdom, and potential for growing and learning, as well as feeling confident that you can find a refuge in the present moment and meet life as it unfolds. 5) Nonstriving - cultivating the attitude of wise and balanced effort and seeing how you lose connection with the present moment and with yourself when you lean into the future to get somewhere or something. 6) Acceptance - is being open to this moment and experiencing things just as they are without judgment, clinging or resistance. 7) Letting go - is cultivating an attitude of being open to your experience, seeing where you're clinging or attaching to an experience, and releasing your hold on it.
Liz is a lover of expeditionary wandering on foot or skis. I'm a mother and educator who currently works for an avalanche education non-profit as a curriculum writer and education director. Her outdoor resume is vast and it includes many grand adventures, including pumping at the summit of Mt. Rainier after guiding a trip up the mountain. This conversation is broad reaching exploring the nature of being a woman in the wilderness, what it means to transition from wilderness/mountain guide to mom, how we hope to change the view of wilderness to one that is more reciprocal in nature, and finally how we are working to bring a more feminine approach to outdoor adventuring - moving us away from consumption (e.g. bagging and tagging) to one that is co-created with place. Unfortunately, For some unknown reason there were some technical difficulties with this recording - so at one point my audio fades out and sadly our conversation is cut short. However, this conversation was so juicy I didn't want to loose what the zoom gods decided to keep for us. I hope you enjoy it and I'll try to get Liz back sometime soon so we can finish our conversation where we left off.
Well, here's a venerable episode! Gulp. Today I open up more about my journey to quitting drinking has been like, what motivates me to keep going and how I think about the role alcohol plays in maintaing a culture of oppression and disempowerment. I know it's not always the most popular opinion, but I've been gradually uncovering and exploring and getting more curious about the role alcohol has played in the shaping of my life and the shaping of our society. If the idea of listening to this triggers you. If it peaks an interest. Or if you think that's freaking crazy making it through the pandemic with young children without drinking - I want to encourage you to take a listen. It is often when we have an emotional reaction to others that it's really our own inner soul reaching out for some attention. If you have more questions about this journey, I'm trying to open up more about it. Please DM me, tell me what resonates, share your experience with me. I would love to know! Speaking of Souls - I have an event coming up! I'm really excited to announce the Soul Restoration Virtual Nature Based Retreat - starting Thursday March 18. Please check out the eventbrite page for more details or DM me on IG (@morganruffuplift) and I'm happy to connect and answer questions! https://soulrestorationretreat.eventbrite.com Until we meet again friends, be brave and stay wild!
10 steps to personal resilience and empowerment in chaotic times with Good Grief Network founders LaUra Schmit and Aimee Lewis-Reau This conversation was recorded in Spring of 2020. It was so good I felt the need to put it out again on this platform. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Have you ever felt overwhelmed by the state of the world? Overcome with sadness or grief or anger? Depressed? Or you just avoid any information about the state of our world because it just feels like too much... You are not alone! And, there is a community here to support you. In this conversation I have the great honor and privileged to connect with two amazing women who are changing the conversation with their 10-step program to transform the conversation we have around our big emotions and supporting our own growth so that we can creatively address our worlds biggest problems. These two women have been interviewed and featured on NPR, the Times and many other notable news organizations and I'm beyond humbled they would spend an hour talking with me to share this important message. If you are interested in learning more about this program I plan to start a group in the near future. DM me or put your favorite emoji into the comments if you're interested in learning more! https://youtu.be/c44eBusnJpE Good Grief Network
Restoration is the art of taking a broken system and bringing it back to some version closer to what it once was, functioning and existing closer to its initial nature. We do this in places for the earth (but unfortunately we also destroy places just as quickly). But, it is more rare to find people who are willing to restore their soul. I believe we're all born knowing we are love. We are born with a mission and gifts, but gradually over time we forget or are told that we're not supposed to feel, do, act or be that way. So many of us turn our backs to our soul - our truest nature - our heart, in an attempt to fit into a culture that really no one fits into. We try to stay within the narrow confines, and then miss the opportunity to even dream about what a more expansive, self aligned existence might look like. Soul restoration tears away at the layers that we've built up over time that no longer serves us and asks us to listen and hear our souls calling. What is your soul craving? Can you even hear it? Coming the Weekend of March 18-21 I will be hosting a nature based virtual retreat. Space for you to step into some of your soul restoration work and unlock, listen, observe and give to yourself space and time. DM me to be added to the list!
Friends, this conversation is one of my most treasured. Today I speak with my best friend Margo Young. We explore her heart wrenching story of loss & the journey of trying desperately to find meaning in tragedy, her relationship with cancer and what it means to live life knowing that she is a carrier of a gene mutation and the stress that comes from packing it all in because of a feeling of pressure that comes from this knowledge. And we also explore how COVID-19 has provided a space and opportunity to re-see the feeling and pressure to do it all in a new way. We also talk about the importance of staying healthy for cancer prevention without allowing perfection and over vigilance to become another unhealthy pattern. I might recommend grabbing a box of tissue just in case for this one. Don't be afraid of these emotions my friends, we all need to see, experience and bear witness together. So many of us have been touched by similar challenges to Margo and in sharing our stories we open up the opportunity for connection. Please me in witnessing and joining Margo's brave journey. ********** Margo Young is always up for WILD adventure when she's not working her two jobs! As a dedicated environmental health professional AND clean living educator/advocate, Margo works to balance her desire to be outdoors biking, skiing, hiking with boring adult responsibilities. Being the mom of two daughters who can almost ski faster than her is her greatest achievement so far.
Do you feel like you're riding the hamster wheel of to do's, always focused on what is coming so that you don't actually focus on what is happening now? In this episode I describe my step by step process I use to create sustainability and energy in my day to day. This is a process that I first learned from my coach with a few of my own unique twists that I've added along the way. Its one of the all time most useful tools for helping me to stay out of overwhelm and swimming in the flow of life. This episode is chalk full of all sorts of detail and steps, so I recommend grabbing your journal and a pen to take notes on what feels and sounds good to you! Here is a recap of the steps: Review of your previous week Brain dump Prioritize and Identify Core Desired Feelings Assess alignment of your activities with your Core Desired Feelings Schedule and do Review So grateful for you and thanks for listening! xoxo, Morgan
This was a previously recorded podcast from spring of 2020 that I am honored to re-release here. ******** The questions I get asked most often are around mindfulness and meditation. How do I start? Why is it so hard? How do you sit for so long? How do you get your mind quiet (hint, I don't) I was so trilled to have long time mindfulness teacher Kurt Hoelting share his wisdom and knowledge in this conversation. I love Kurt's connection to wild place and how right now we are all being asked to sit with the wildness of ourselves in really challenging ways. Please check out his website if you connect with his message: https://www.insidepassages.com/ ******* If you would like to join the FREE 14 day gratitude email challenge, sign up on my website: https://www.morganruff.com/gratitudegroup
What do you do to regain momentum when you find yourself separated from your soul? For me, when I get triggered or start feeling scared I tend to abandon my soul. I put her in a closet and say, stay here, it's safer. This completely cuts me off from my voice and my creative expression. In this episode I describe my process for re-finding my creativity, my flow, and my voice after a rough patch. I hope this is helpful! For more information about the FREE 14 Day Gratitude Challenge or to inquire about the Journey to Joy Coaching program please visit my website: morganruff.com Don't forget to follow me on Instagram @morganruffuplift and like, comment and share! For me, the new year often brings with it dreams of big adventure. In the podcast recorded the spring of 2020 I connect with my friend and colleague Heather Cole as she talks about her adventures on the Pacific Crest Trail. In 2019, Heather had the chance to embark on a bucket list trek that many of us can only dream of, a month long trek on the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). The trail provided so much more than just adventure. It provided deep wisdom that we all can benefit from during this time of distance and isolation.
Coming out of the holidays - I feel like a heavy sludge has bogged me down. Maybe it's too much of the rich foods and “holiday cheer” though I left alcohol in the dust over 4 years ago. This happens to me frequently as I come out of the season of high expectations that typically surrounds the holidays. This year, 2020, has been so different and so very strange that I have found a lot of tears and grief coming up to the surface, more than may be normal. Grief has a sneaky way of creeping up on me. I might be moving about my day to day and not even notice it lurking around the edges of my mind until, blamo, there she is. And interestingly, it doesn't always feel like sadness. Sometimes it feels like fiery hot rage that I just want to exhale and burn everything down. Grief is a tricky force for sure. After this past few days out of our routine I feel a bit like I'm stuck in quick sand. Many of us know that expression well - but how many of you have any experience with quick sand? I do! As a guide in Alaska we used to visit the outwash plane of a melting glacier. Amongst the boulders were always the patches of smooth sparkling grey sand. It looked so tempting to walk through compared to the uneven surface of the boulder field. The first few people would travel through without a hitch, but if you were a few people back, the ground would quickly give way and if you kept wiggling your boots they would be quickly consumed under the sand and saturated with the milky white water coming from the glacier. In this podcast I explore some old guide tricks that I learned from these experiences that I think equates to what I'm experiencing now and I hope they will be helpful for pulling you out of the mud as well.

2020 has been a year of unprecedented interruption. It's asked us to sit with discomfort in many ways. For those of us who are lucky enough to have the resources to feel the comfort of safety and security it's also been an invitation to go inward. To really grapple with some of our shadows and look at our own light. Solstice in the northern hemisphere does much of the same. It is the dark days. It is the time we can look to the core of who we are and go inward. Many of us are feeling the fatigue of the process which still may not have a clear end in sight. But how can we use the energy of solstice to bring nurturing to our roots and release that which is no longer serving us and let it go.

This episode was recorded this spring, but still is so relevant today. https://youtu.be/56bTuNjTMQ4 Finding the Trust Within - Money, Homeschooling and Uncertain Times with Jenny Foxtrot Foertsch is live! Check out my Youtube channel for this one and previous conversations. This conversation is wide ranging but so much of what I need right now. Jenny is such an inspiring human being who really got me thinking about leaning into trusting myself more during these times. When I went into our conversation I was feeling overwhelmed with many factors - finances, this new homeschool routine, how to understand and make meaning out of these times. During this conversation I felt my entire energy shift as I moved from my fear and not trusting myself into gratitude and maybe even a little excitement to try things my own way (hello inner rebel). I really hope this conversation brings you a greater sense of self mastery or perspective in new ways of digging into and trusting yourself. If you resonate with Jenny and her message please consider following her on her social platforms. She's also offered "pay what you can" strategy sessions for those affected by COVID-19. She lives life with intention, focus and shows up as the true embodiment of her core values and she leads from a place of love and abundance. The conversation flows through stories of personal change about how Kristen made the shift from a 6 hour commute doing work in the environmental field to becoming one of Whidbey islands leading realtors (and the inner work needed to make that transitions), how outdoor adventures have shaped our relationship with fear, and how leading with love and abundance can change the world. "Tough times don't come out of nowhere. They come precisely when you're ready to grow and be more of who you really are. You're stronger and more capable than you know." -Marie Forleo 2020 continues to be a year of great change, shedding light on so many of the institutions and structures that we've build our society and lives on that are actually unsustainable and harmful to ourselves and our planet. 2020 asks us to see and feel the discomfort of that. It asks us to think about what needs to be burned away so that new growth can occur. How are you leaning into the discomfort of 2020? What systems are you burning in your life? What practices are you digging in to to support the transition to something new?
DAY 4: SELF COMPASSION SUPERPOWER Would you ever say to a friend, or even a stranger, the things you say to yourself in your mind? We can be so mean to ourselves and we can get so hooked by these unhappy thoughts. This practice is the ultimate in self-acceptance, a path to building greater inner strength so that you can thrive. HERE'S THE SELF-COMPASSION BREAK (this takes under 5 minutes) Step 1: NOTICE: Notice when you are hooked by a stressful thought, a sense of suffering, a spiral or discomfort. Say to yourself “This is a moment of suffering” or “This hurts” or “This is stressful” Step 2: CONNECT: Think about others in this moment who might be feeling the same thing. Connect to those who are also suffering. Try saying “I'm not alone”, “Everyone experiences this, just like me”, “this is how it feels when people struggle” Step 3: REASSURE: Give yourself a reassuring touch, a hand to the heart, a hug, a pat on the leg, anything that helps you to feel reassured. Then start saying reassuring words to yourself, similar to what you might say to a child “It's ok sweetheart”, “This is hard” “It's ok to feel suffering” “may I accept myself as I am today” As you reassure and say these things to yourself, take deep breaths and keep going until you can feel a little more reassured.
Day 3: TELEPORTATION SUPERPOWER Today's challenge helps you to TELEPORT yourself into you most wild and free joyful moments every single day by following your path with your core desired feelings. TELEPORT IN 3 easy steps Grab your journal STEP 1: This about your perfect day. This can be one you've had in the past or one that you want to create. Maybe even think about a perfect day on election day. This doesn't have to be reality. If you would wake up in an ocean hut in Bali - then write about that, the colors, the textures, the way of being. Use lots of adjectives. It's in your mind, so go with what would be perfect for you. In your journal write about it with as much detail as you can. STEP 2: Circle all the adjectives and feeling words that really resonate and come up with one word that describes that feeling. Try to be specific - so instead of happy or joyful say “light, earthy, connected, calm, etc.” STEP 3: Take your one word and brainstorm micro actions that you can do to feel that way. Tiny little steps that can be done today, right now. Is it music, a cuddle with a pet, a walk in the woods? Prioritize doing those things and know it's connecting you to that perfect day. Send me a DM and share @morganruffuplift on Insta! I love celebrating wins with you!
Day 2: Regeneration Superpower Today's challenge helps you to build your regeneration superpower to cut off the old stressful thoughts and stories and grow new more supportive ones. REGENERATE NEW THOUGHTS IN 3 easy steps Set up your paper with a line down the middle of the paper. Write fear/thoughts at the top of the first column and affirmation/new thoughts on the other column. STEP 1: Let the fears flow first. Brain dump and let it out. What are your most hidden concerns about a situation, about yourself in that situation, etc. write down all your future and past fears and thoughts. This can be something coming in the future that is giving you anxiety or a past experience you just can't seem to let go of. STEP 2: Get quiet: Get quiet. Take a few deep breaths. Have a sip of water or your tea. Ask yourself, what am I feeling when I'm thinking these thoughts? Are they true? Can I absolutely know they are true? Am I willing to consider seeing things a little differently? STEP 3: Re-Write your Fear: You can try turning your fear into an affirmation. How might you be able to see and know it differently? You can try turning your statement around on yourself. This is especially helpful when you're mad/angry/frustrated at another. In the IG TV video I share how “She hurt me” becomes “I hurt myself” because of all that I was thinking. Try substituting “I” with “they” or changing your statement into the opposite “She hurt me” to “She helped me” or “she didn't hurt me”. DM me and share @morganruffuplift on Instagram! I love celebrating wins with you!
Today's challenge helps you to build your rubber girl super power. I'm rubber, you're glue whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you and I'm sending you love with it too! How often do you feel your happiness is dependent on others. What they think of you, how they behave toward you, their words about you? Today's super power skill development helps you to find the good feelings from deep within you. APPRECIATION RAMPAGE! 1) make a list of 10 things you are grateful for. When you are done feel into these. Say "thank you, thank you, thank you" and really mean it. 2) appreciate and notice everything and everyone around you and tell them! Unlock your superpower for joy! This is the Podcast version of the recent challenge I put out to the Instagram Community. Anxious, scared, nervous? Fearful, angry, short with those you love? Feeling totally off your rocker? Totally, me too! It's a strange and wild time in the U.S. (and the world) and we are all feeling the affects one way or another. But, this does not mean we should not feel GOOD. I fact, it's the opposite. This is a time we should be double down on feeling good.
What we dwell upon we become. Creating a community of vibrant, happy, wild women has been my dream for years. This podcast is one element of creating that dream. Of creating a space where we can come together and share what is on our hearts and minds. Learn now skills together so we can see things differently, process our big emotions, and create more emotional freedom to see our worlds challenges in new and more empowering ways. My life has taken me on some amazing adventures, but it's not always been an easy journey. I've been burnt out, run down, depressed, anxious, and ready to toss in the towel many times. I've been lost and wandering alone in the forest before (literally and figuratively), ready to give up. But over the past years I've learned to cultivate hope, you and resilience within myself. Are you feeling like you've lost your way on this crazy ride in life? Feeling burned out or overwhelmed by the state of your home, let alone the state of our world right now. I get you. I understand. I've been there and frankly, still go there. All this can feel big and scary when we first come to it, but with some support from eachother you'll see how much power you truly have, learn to trust yourself again, and gain greater connection to yourself, the people and the world around you.

If you're like me right now, finding time to calm your nerves is imperative..but it's hard with the change of routine to figure out when and how. I've experienced what many have, kids at home, working from home, furlough and future loss of income, chaos in the uncertainty, etc. My morning routine has been saving my butt big time. Instead of hiding in netflix, worry and cookies I'm spending time in the morning to feel and process what is happening. Meditation, journal, walking, gratitude. This conversation with Kat Johnson came out of a desire to share with others critical tools that can support your emotional and mental well being right now. This is the first in what I hope to be multiple little conversations over the next few weeks. In additional I felt inspired to restart my Facebook Group - UPLIFT for passionate change makers (link in the comments) to share my journey and hopefully provide tools and resources for those who may be feeling a bit out of control right now. It's not that I've got it all figured out, but I am in a much better place now than I was 3 years ago and I love sharing. I believe that when you bring calm into a crazy situation you can help diffuse all the fear, panic and anxiety that is around you. But you have to be able to create that calm. I'm someone who tends to pick up on the energy of those around me (if they are spun up I am spun up). Over the past few years I've been learning how to claim my own emotions and energy and master them in a way so that I don't get so flooded and overwhelm by what I'm feeling. This has been a practice - mindfulness, meditation, spiritual practice, questioning my thoughts and much more. Being a boss of my mornings has been key.
