Rev. Hannah and Rev. Brittany are back in the Video Studio continuing their discussion on money, the church, and what it means for modern Christians. This time, they’re talking about the concept of helping community members by opening our hands and hearts and releasing debts, providing financial freedom and relief to others. It’s a conversation they’ve titled: Our Money Story – Release. The two female pastors are inspired by Deuteronomy 15 and God’s vision of releasing debts, providing rest, and granting freedom every seventh year. Through the biblical passage, they notice it’s a story of abundance, acknowledging that as a church community, we’ll always have more than enough, so there is no need for an inward focus of hoarding personal assets instead of having an external focus of communal support and prosperity. They describe it in this straightforward way of thinking: If you have, you give. The women clergy of First United Methodist Church of San Diego also use this digital Bible Study to discuss: The shifting definition of Sabbath from the nomadic times of Exodus to the agricultural community of Deuteronomy. The coexistence of personal economy and communal economy. God isn’t calling for charity; they’re local for a system that doesn’t allow for deep debt with no hope of financial freedom. The difference between the rhythm of grace and the rhythm of greed. There are a lot of concepts packed into this short conversation, so we encourage you to engage with others as you uncover your thoughts about financial release. You can do so through our in-person Convergence group or joining our online community at patreon.com/fumcsd. Here are the discussion questions for this episode: What would “release” look like in our world today? What would it mean to stop the relentless cycle of debt — emotional, financial, spiritual — that keeps people captive? The female pastors of First United Methodist Church of San Diego are kicking off a new conversation series: “Our Money Story.” Money is at the root of so many conflicts, so these talks are sure to be interesting! First up, Rev. Hannah and Rev. Brittany look back at Exodus 16:1-8 with a conversation titled “Remember.” If you listened to our podcast last year, you may recall we had a similar series, focusing on personal and family money stories. But this year, we’re focused on the money story of the institutional church. With this theme of remembrance, the women clergy encourage us to look back at the past money stories of the church to understand the challenges and victories we may face today and in the future. Some themes and ideas they uncover include: The fear of not having enough, leading to scarcity mindset and hoarding. The psychological theory Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and how it applies to the ancient Israelites. How our past experiences guide current decisions, even when our financial situation is different. The need to pool resources as a church to ensure everyone’s needs are met. Ultimately, they ask: If our resources come from God, who should authority of it over God? Why do we control resources and gatekeep what others can access? It’s a lot to consider, so we encourage you to engage in conversations with others as you dig deep to uncover your thoughts about money and the church. You can do so through our in-person Convergence group or joining our online community at patreon.com/fumcsd. Here are the discussion questions for this episode: What does this passage say about God's care for the vulnerable? Where in your life are you being asked to trust in "daily bread" rather than long-term certainty? What does “enough” look like for you? How do you experience God’s provision: spiritually, emotionally, or materially in the wilderness of your life? Welcome to this week's Blonde Intelligence, I am your host Ms. Roni and I always seek to give you exquisite cranial repertoire. The courtroom weighed a bar, not a brawl—and the ruling changed the temperature of the timeline. We dig into why the judge dismissed Drake's defamation suit by zooming in on the power of wording, context, and how hip‑hop frames accusation versus opinion. “I hear you like them young” isn't the same as “you do,” and that distinction matters when art collides with law. While the discourse flared, UMG cut through the noise with a simple stance: the case is over, the work continues, and if a hit lands, they'll promote it. That's the difference between public narratives about Ls and a label's reality of deliverables, contracts, and release cycles. From there, we clear up a persistent confusion: Cash Money's legacy stands on its own foundation—Juvenile, B.G., Hot Boys, Mannie Fresh, the 99–2000 era—long before Young Money reshaped the mainstream with Drake and Nicki. When fans fuse those histories during moments of drama, they miss the architecture that made the house sturdy. We talk optics, support, and why legacies don't hinge on who liked what post or who showed up where. We also explore smarter genre pivots, using the rap‑rock playbook that works—collaborations that translate sound instead of forcing it—so artists can evolve without abandoning the audience that built them.Along the way, we pause to acknowledge local wins and why real community moments outlast social chatter. And we get candid about platform accountability: when moderation can erase years of marketing in a click, creators need direct channels, clear appeals, and spaces they own—sites, newsletters, and word‑of‑mouth that can't be shadowed overnight. If you care about music law, label dynamics, Southern rap history, and the craft of crossing genres, you'll find sharp takes and practical context here.If this breakdown hit home, follow the show, share it with a friend who loves rap history and industry tea, and leave a quick review—your two minutes keeps these conversations alive and discoverable.#HipHopHistory #DrakeDefamation #MusicLaw #CashMoney #YoungMoney #HipHopCulture #RapRock #LabelDynamics #CommunityWins #MusicalEvolution #CulturalNarratives #PlatformAccountability #IndustryTea #SouthernRap #ArtVsLawSupport the show

Money is rarely just about math—it's about stories, habits, emotions, and, for ADHDers, often a deep sense of shame. Show NotesIn this episode, I open up and share a very personal journey of going from broke to abundance. I talk about how my money story began in childhood, with the beliefs I created about wealth and happiness, and how those beliefs shaped my reality as an adult. From growing up with a lavish lifestyle to later manifesting scarcity because of the stories I told myself, I explain how I came to understand that money beliefs are powerful and often hidden in our subconscious.I share the pivotal moment when I realised I had to do the inner work around money, not just the surface-level practices, and how that shifted everything for me. I discuss how money is flow, how the Universe is abundant, and why it is so important to challenge the beliefs we inherited and replace them with ones that truly serve us.This episode also includes the weekly Angel card reading. Melissa Browne first joined me on the podcast way back in early 2017 and then spoke at our conference, Sparta Chicks Unleashed, in 2018.And now she's back with a vulnerable new book and for a very personal and brave conversation.Mel has just published a new book - her fourth book - called “Budgets Don't Work (But This Does)”. It's the culmination of her career first as an accountant and now a financial advisor. Her philosophy; just like diets and one-size-fits-all eating plans or training programs don't work, budgets don't work either. So Mel has developed a process that helps you discover (what she calls) your “Financial Phenotype”. It's the combination of your Money Stories, your Money Environment and your Money Type. Knowing these things about yourself then allows you to custom design your own financial plan, habits and tactics that draw on your natural strengths (while minimising the impact of your weakness). Simply genius! What makes this book so powerful is Mel's vulnerability around her history and her story and how it has shaped her financial decision making over the years. From the outside looking in, Mel appeared to have it all. Yet as she reveals in this conversation, for years Mel was stuck in a ‘sabotage loop' in her business and that she carried a victim mentality and story that she wasn't “good enough” that caused her to work so hard she ultimately experienced burnout and a breakdown in 2017.So she initially started working with a coach to help her navigate her 'sabotage loop' in her business. However, Mel quickly realised she would also need to unpack the trauma she's experienced and the way it and the stories she's carried with her have shaped her personal life as well.

A lot of business owners look at budgeting as punishment for past money mistakes, but budgeting doesn't have to feel restrictive. In fact, budgeting can be used as a tool for freedom while protecting your business at the same time, especially if you allow yourself the space and time to plan. In this episode, Danielle Hayden, reformed CFO and founder of Kickstart Accounting, Inc., shares how to use budgeting as a tool for clarity, confidence, and intention in your business, and she explains why Q4 is the best time to reflect, reset, and plan for the year ahead, instead of waiting until January. Key Takeaways: Budgeting Is About Clarity, Not Restriction: Budgeting isn't punishment. It's a tool that provides direction, helps you spend with intention, and protects your vision for the year ahead. Pay Yourself with Confidence: Danielle breaks down the three key numbers every business owner should define: what you want to pay yourself, what you need to feel secure, and what you desire to feel free. Quarter 4 Is Your CEO Power Season: The most strategic business owners use Q4 to zoom out, reflect on what worked, and plan for the next year, so they start January with confidence, not chaos. Your Budget Should Reflect Your Real Season of Life: Whether you're scaling up, slowing down, or balancing big life changes, your budget should support the business season you're actually in, not the one you think you “should” be in. Overcome Financial Shame & Guilt: Fear and past money mistakes don't define you. By using strategy and support, you can rebuild confidence and step fully into your CEO role. Topics Discussed: (00:00) Intro: How Budgeting Is About Stepping Into Your Role As CEO, Not Restriction (01:00) Why Q4 is the Most Strategic Time to Plan and Budget for Next Year (02:55) How to Set Aligned Revenue Goals and Map Out Investments with Intention (03:39) Budgeting for Your Real Season in Business and Life (04:42) Overcoming Financial Fear, Shame, and Money Stories with Strategy and Support (07:24) Outro: Like, share, and subscribe!
