    The Benefits of Yoga

    This episode of the podcast was inspired by an article listing 100 benefits of yoga.  Jamie is joined on the show by fellow Yoga Evolved teacher and anatomy enthusiast Andrea Shelton.  They discuss the benefits of yoga, particularly around dealing with depression.  After talking about the benefits they move on to discussing the potential negatives.  Jamie asks Andi about the main physical dangers of the practice and gets her top tips for avoiding yoga’s most common injuries.  This show also features contributions from a number of other Yoga Evolved teachers who give their reasons for initially starting yoga and the benefits it provided.  It’s interesting to hear these wide ranging answers, proving that yoga really can give you anything you want!

    Pregnancy Yoga

    Pregnancy Yoga is an area of yoga that many teachers do not have a lot of knowledge in.  It is rarely included in teacher training courses outside of specific pregnancy yoga trainings.  There are also a lot of different thoughts and opinions on the subject online, making it very hard to do your own research. In effort to shed some light on the subject and to help make yoga safer for pregnant women, in this show Jamie interviews two pregnancy yoga teachers, Gabi  Goncalves and Grace Sisto.  They discuss: How the practice should change depending on the trimester What are the first questions a teacher should ask a pregnant student Is pregnancy a good time to start yoga and if you have an existing practice when should you stop practicing What styles of yoga are best for pregnant women What postures should be avoided during these nine months And much more.  This is a very useful podcast for anyone who is pregnant, has a friend or relative who is pregnant or for any teachers who want to expand their knowledge in order to keep students practicing safely.
