Jess from Frisch Copy to chat with us today about how to use storytelling in your emails to build trust and connection with your audience. Jess is a copywriter, storyteller, yoga teacher, and nature nerd who believes in the power of connection in all areas of her life. And when it comes to creating that connection to grow both her biz and those of her clients, she does so with engaging, story-driven emails.  Writing can seem scary at first, but Jess works to empower ethically-minded entrepreneurs to start telling their stories, helping them realize they all have valuable, meaningful moments in their life that are perfect for emails, no matter how normal or “boring” they may initially seem (because really, those are the best ones). I met Jess through this year's All Mats Taken Summit in the Facebook group. She introduced herself and as copywriters are a website designer's best friend I was instantly like, let's connect! So we got talking and I knew I had to introduce her to you because she is an incredibly valuable person to have in our community. Equity has been top of mind, and even a trending topic in the past few years. This concept has had many teachers and business owners taking stock of how they are, or often are not, creating intentional spaces for all voices and bodies within their yoga businesses. This notion also extends to wellness entrepreneurship for professionals of color and particularly yoga teachers who haven't felt welcome in traditional studio and wellness spaces. Today we are joined by the incredible Angie Franklin, Founder and CEO of Afro Yoga, who shares generously from her vast experience in teaching, entrepreneurship, and creating safe space for practitioners and teachers of color to flourish in their practice and business. Angie founded Afro Yoga, a global platform with local roots that offers yoga with a social justice lens and emphasis on community connection. As a wellness entrepreneur, certified Kemetic and Vinyasa yoga instructor and business mentor, Angie's work is focused on increasing access to wealth and wellness for practitioners and professionals of color. She is also a 3X Lululemon ambassador and has worked with clients that include the NBA, international Lululemon leadership teams, Microsoft, Duolingo, Kaiser Permanente, Rebbl and many more. Today, we discuss the need for white yoga teachers and business owners must prioritize progress over comfort to make lasting change, why it's important for teachings to reach beyond traditional yoga spaces and how wellness entrepreneurs of color can thrive in business today. Sunaina Madhav Dasi (they/them) is a multidimensional human that holds many identities. They immigrated from Bangalore, India in 1996 and are currently settled on the ancestral lands of the Arapaho, Cheyenne, and Ute Nations. Sunaina is a mixed-race person (Indo-Aryan and Dravidian) and speaks Tamil as their mother tongue. Their yoga practice is deeply rooted in Hinduism, Bhakti, and social justice. They follow the lineage and teachings of their ancestors and Sri Paramahamsa Vishwananda as they took initiation into Hari Bhakta Sampradaya. Sunaina uses their neurodivergent superpowers to create a more community-centered world that focuses on individual healing by embracing one's unique purpose. They believe that the answer is already within us when we choose self-love, accountability, and awareness. With their unique lens of the yogic path, Sunaina creates spaces to reclaim traditional practices, decolonize minds and abolish oppressive systems that affect us at an energetic and societal level. Outside of their practice, they enjoy modeling, photography, dancing, and directing photoshoots! In our conversation, Sunaina talks about their background as well as coming to America. They also talked about their definition of Yoga, which can be different for everyone. Everyone is on their own journey, and what you bring from the heart to your practice is always the best place to start.  The spiritual side of yoga seems to be bypassed, especially in Western yoga, where Asana is the main focus. But for Sunaina, who is deeply rooted in their traditions and Guru's teachings, uses acceptance, fluidity, and yoga philosophy to create a more accepting space for everyone.  Through the teachings of yoga, you can find true liberation. By allowing yourself to be exactly as you are, you can connect with the divine and yourself.  Start the journey now with your free 30-day membership on Omstars.com. Elena Urioste is a musician, yogi, writer, and entrepreneur who has appeared as violin soloist with all the top orchestras in the U.S. — New York Philharmonic, LA Phil, Philadelphia and Cleveland orchestras. She is the co-director of the Kaleidoscope Chamber Collective, which is an Associate Ensemble of London's prestigious Wigmore Hall. She is the co-founder of Intermission, a program that combines music, movement, and mindfulness, aiming to make music-making a healthier, more holistic practice for students and professionals alike through yoga and meditation. Our conversation highlights her vibrant energy from her multi-cultural background and how that infuses her everyday style. I particularly enjoyed hearing her travel recommendation to Germany's Schloss Elmau hotel and spa, which needs to be on everyone's dream hotel list. We explore how she expanded her career into yoga and started an organization that even has an app! Interestingly, she recounts her perspective on the importance of fulfillment and not just success. I found this emphasis to be quite profound. Finally, we conclude our chat with how her new studio album came to be — out of the depths of lockdown and building a large digital community around that shared experience. The album, #UriPosteJukeBox, features her husband, pianist Tom Poster, and will be released on the Orchid Classics label this September. -- Classical Post explores the intersection of classical music, style, and wellness, diving into meaningful conversations with leading artists from an array of different backgrounds. Episode# 014Inspired by a life-long passion for health and nutrition, Derek Van Atta, the creator of Sarvaa Superfood, is living his commitment of promoting optimal living and vitality! In his senior year of High School, Derek suffered from severe digestive tract issues which forced him to begin learning about physiology and nutrition. He began eating differently and feeling much better, so he was quickly hooked by the empowering benefits of learning about food. After two years of studying Nutrition Science in college in Northern California, he moved back to Colorado and got a job in a health food store where he was even more inspired by the amazing interplay between human nutrition and having more energy, mental clarity, and optimal well-being. He then spent three years as a monk in a small Yoga Community where he learned the value of meditation, yoga and the day-to-day spiritual practice of "service to others." Fast forward a few more years and he was working crazy hours in a small start-up he co-founded in Silicon Valley.  Derek's commitments to healthy food and meditation were put to the test by the intense pace of Silicon Valley, which demanded a similar intensity in his personal exploration of nutrition, yoga, meditation and exercise. "Whenever I got lazy with my diet or other healthy habits, I suffered immediately." The improvements in daily well-being that Derek experienced whenever he fed his body superfoods, inspired him to develop his own superfood recipes. Thus began the next chapter, which was how to make these incredibly healthy blends actually taste good.  Co-owner of Sarvaa, Bronwyn Beatta's nutritional knowledge came from being exposed to different schools of thought, from Ayurveda to traditional Chinese Taoist and Buddhist diets. She also greatly values the intrinsic knowledge that her body shares with her every minute of every day! Throughout her co-evolution with Sarvaa Superfood, Bronwyn has learned even more about optimal health and glows from the inside out when she gets to share how exceptional eating habits and having a joyful outlook have shifted her life into an upward spiral. Staying in a golden state of mind as often as possible, her creativity shows up in the written word, abstract paintings, and in human connections. Bronwyn expresses her joy for Sarvaa Superfood by collaborating with her co-workers to produce the most accurate information possible on the Sarvaa website. A translator and creator at heart, her passion is that you have a full understanding of the pure goodness that you are investing in when you bring Sarvaa into your life.  Sarvaa's vision is to support your life with powerful, balanced, affordable and easy superfoods so that you can optimize your unique contribution to life on Earth. Keeping with the spirit of Optimal Health and Wellbeing, Sarvaa Superfoods are synergistic blends of botanicals that have been used by ancient healing traditions from all over the world. Each product is literally a "melting pot" of these traditions. Every superfood creation at Sarvaa is made with a consciousness of LOVE, and an unwavering commitment to the absolute highest quality possible.
