Welcome back, Void! You get a monologue, and you get a monologue, AND YOU GET A MONOLOGUE!! Monologues for the ages! We're seriously awe-struck at the quality of the speeches in this half of the season. Andy Serkis leading the prison break, Stellan Skarsgård digging deep into sacrifice, and Fiona Shaw being the first stone thrown (literally). Following the first strike against the Empire at Aldhani, the sparks of rebellion are kindled across the galaxy. For each hero rising up, there is an equal psychopath torturing, stalking, and just being creepy. Mon Mothma is our "character growth" MVP as she chooses to walk the walk and sacrifice everything, even her daughter, to the rebellion. This season is one of the best pieces of Star Wars storytelling, period.
We are stoked for Andor Season 2. We are looking back with a bonus epsiode at Andor Season 1, Ep4, Aldhani. Imperial Take over at Ferrix, Mothma making deals. Heist plans in motion. Drop as a voice memo or email at bigtliltpodcast@gmail.com. big T & LIL T

Andor: Season One - Announcement. As Andor Season 2 approaches, Matt and John discuss the themes and story turns in the seventh episode of Star Wars: Andor. A new arc starts with this episode, focused on the galactic ripple effects from the Aldhani heist, while Cassian returns home amid planning what to do with his score. What is the episode trying to say? Does it advance the series momentum? Does it suffer as a prequel to Rogue One by working too hard to tie things in to where it's going? It's sure to be another interesting episode as the Jedi Masters work to see eye to eye on “Announcement.”HostJohn Mills and Matthew RushingLove listening to Aggressive Negotiations, a Star Wars podcast that's different from all the rest? The train heist in Solo walked so the Aldhani heist in Andor could run. And that just scratches the surface of why “The Eye” (Andor S1, Ep. 6) is phenomenal television. In our recap, we talk about the aftermath of the grand plan to secure $80 million credits for the Rebellion. We discuss the Empire and its gleeful colonization, military spending siphoning away funding for medical science, Cassian's moral code, and why Andor is a radical call to action (even for those of us in the year of our Lord 2023). “Aldhani” (Andor S1, Ep. 4) is an episode cut with surgical precision. The four looping subplots of Aldhani draw us through one of the most beautiful and intricate Star Wars episodes we've ever seen. The dialogue? Perfection. The scenery? Flawless. The depths of Star Wars lore plumbed? Fathomless. We are BIG FANS. In our recap, we talk about the 10,000 Easter eggs and pieces of trivia saturating this episode. We also discuss the characters we love…to hate. (Syril Karn is finally booted out of the Number One spot by Mon Mothma's terrible husband, Perrin.) Episode 7 serves as a transitional episode between Andor's first half of the season and the second, and as such we spend a large amount of time basically resetting characters to the new status quo. Political intrigue and jockeying for position has reach an all time high within the ISB, while both Cyril and Andor become cogs in the machine that is the Empire, albeit in different ways. The theme of the episode could be best described as "consequences" with Luthen pointing out that people suffering due to the Aldhani heist in the point of the whole thing. The Empire steps up its oppression, leading to ripples across the whole galaxy from Coruscant to Ferrix. What an episode this turned out to be! All of the tension that has been built up in the previous episodes comes to a head, and the consequences for some characters turn out to be dire. A lot happens in this episode, with some subtle blink and you'll miss it foreshadowing about true character motivations and turning allegiances hidden in the action. The time spent building up these characters also pays off in spades when the powder keg that is Aldhani finally ignites, and even the Imperials get some time in the spotlight. In the middle episode of Andor's second story arc, we shift between the various story lines at lightning pace, bouncing between Ferrix, Coruscant, and Aldhani. Some inter-story conflict helps to drive home that point that we're racing towards what is sure to be a dramatic and violent culmination. This episode ratchets up the tension in a highly effective way, and leaves us on the edges of our seats by the end. The second story arc in Andor starts off with an intertwining of a half dozen different stories, woven together with excellent writing and exceptional characterizations of both new and known faces. There isn't much action in this episode, but it lays the groundwork for rising tensions and works well as a sort of soft reset for multiple arcs, with Andor moving away from Ferrix, and Luthen and Syril returning to Coruscant, not to mention the heavy focus on the ISB story lines. The heist is here! There's no turning back now for Cassian and his crew on Aldhani. Season One of ANDOR is officially at the halfway point, and RFR is back with another After Show Livestream! Plus, listeners call in with thoughts and observations
We finished last episode with two desires: To sit in on an absolutely terrible dinner evening and to watch the beginning of a high intensity heist. We got neither, and instead have received a feast unlike any we could've hoped for. From Coruscant to Aldhani, we trace four stories about families bickering. A mother dressing up insults in the language of care. A father leaning back and watching in glee as his daughter tears into her mother. Brothers-in-arms at each other's throats. It's drama time, baby. The action can wait. Jess, Tony, JuJu, Jer Bear, Billy, and Billy's child kick things off with last night's horrific Thursday Night Football game, Jess making *two* crucial mistakes involving weddings, and Tony needing to go to the bank in person. Then, Darth Amin and producer Darth Cornpuzzle pour up a big bowl of Star Wars cereal with Blue Milk as we get inside the family dynamics of Syril and Mon Mothma. Meanwhile, on Aldhani, tensions mount in preparation for next episode's heist as Cassian's motivations are revealed to all. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Three episodes can trick you. It's enough that you think: Okay, I have the gist of the show. I understand what's going on here. I get the moves the filmmakers like to make, I understand tone and theme. I get what the actors have at their disposal. But three episodes is nothing. Sometimes a showrunner handles the introductory arc themself, only to step back afterwards. Budgets dip. The relationship between actors, directors, and others on set can sour. Three episodes can trick you. But Andor first three episodes didn't trick us. Join us this week for our dive into the fourth episode of the series, where we dig into all of our favorite topics, including cultural deterritorialization, the penchant intelligence agencies have for falling into paranoia, and, of course, extremely shitty husbands.
