Preaching from John 5:19-30, Pastor Rockhill addresses the modern skeptical charge that Jesus never claimed to be God. His central burden is to show that although Christ never uttered the exact words "I am God," both His works and His words plainly reveal His divine nature to any audience familiar with the Old Testament Scriptures. Pastor Rockhill traces how Jesus, having healed on the Sabbath, deepens rather than softens the claim of His deity. The Son does nothing apart from the Father, not as a mere puppet but in willing, loving submission, for the Father and the Son are one God. Their common work flows from a perfect, mutual love. Jesus then claims two works that belonged to God alone: giving life and executing final judgment. As the fountain of life, the Son grants eternal life to whom He will, raising the spiritually dead through the Word applied by the Spirit, and as the Son of Man of Daniel 7 He is the perfect, righteous Judge of all the earth. He unfolds the sovereignty of God in salvation, showing the one work of the triune God in regenerating sinners, and points to the coming resurrection with its two outcomes, life or condemnation. Pastor Rockhill closes with a searching pastoral appeal built on the two calls of the Son: the gracious gospel call to repent and believe today, and the sober summons to stand before the Judge at the last day. Far better, he urges, to hear Christ's voice now in faith and pass from death into everlasting life for the glory of God alone.

Eventually, he helped co-found S4S, building a successful business around sleep-apnea appliances, occlusal splints, orthodontics, and more before eventually stepping away from ownership. This week on Voices From the Bench, we finally sit down with someone we've been wanting to have on the show for a LONG time—Philip Gold! Philip grew up in the dental laboratory, quite literally pulling teeth out of formaldehyde bottles in his father Raymond Gold's lab in Atlanta. His father started the laboratory in 1946, and Philip eventually found himself following in those footsteps, although not without first taking a seven-year detour working for Williams Gold. That experience gave him the opportunity to visit laboratories all over the country, learn from some of the best in the industry, and see firsthand how different labs operated. Philip eventually returned to the family laboratory in 1980 and began the process of taking over from his father. What followed was a career built around learning, adapting, building teams, and—most importantly—relationships. Philip shares what it was like stepping into a leadership role at a young age, earning the respect of experienced technicians, and learning that being a leader isn't about knowing everything yourself, but understanding the work well enough to help the people around you succeed. He also talks about selling the laboratory to National Dentex with the goal of giving the business and its people an opportunity to continue growing, only to eventually find his way back into the laboratory world with By Design Dental Studio alongside his daughter Katie and Denise. And if you know Philip, you know he's never stopped learning. He currently holds six CDT certifications, including ceramics, crown and bridge, partials, implants, dentures, and digital. His story about preparing for the digital practical exam is a perfect example of his determination—his first practice run took seven and a half hours for an exam designed to be completed in just over five. So he reorganized, practiced again, changed his workflow, and eventually got it down to under five hours. And of course, Philip isn't pursuing certifications just for himself. He wants to set an example, motivate the next generation of technicians, and encourage more people in the laboratory to continue learning. We also get into the importance of customer service, why relationships are at the heart of this industry, and why sometimes the best thing a laboratory can do is simply pick up the phone and help. Philip shares his philosophy that when something goes wrong, you drop everything and make it right. We talk about giving back to the industry, the people who helped shape Philip's career, and how the dental laboratory community has always been willing to share knowledge when you're willing to ask. The teenager who killed four people at Apalachee High School was sentenced to life without parole Tuesday, days after he pleaded guilty to all 55 charges against him. His father who gave the teen the assault-style rifle used in that mass shooting was sentenced to 15 years in prison. In March, 55-year-old was convicted of multiple charges including second-degree murder, a first for a parent of a school shooter. Plus, two Democratic candidates will face off next month in a special runoff election to serve Georgia’s 13th Congressional District to finish the term of the late Congressman David Scott. Buck Owens (August 12, 1929 – March 25, 2006), and Dwight Yoakam (b. October 23, 1956) :  two master navigators of a very unique tributary along the stream of popular music, inspired and learned from each other - one, being the progenitor of the "Bakersfield Sound", and the other his adopted musical progeny. "The Streets of Bakersfield," originally recorded by Buck Owens in 1973, was revived as a duet between the two men in 1988, becoming  a chart hit and a popular video.    Buck, whose career had gone dark after losing his friend and musical partner, Don Rich in 1974, was sparked back to life when Dwight came into his life.  Here Bill and Rich attempt to connect some of the musical catalogue and biographical dots  of these two musical giants. 

Over the weekend, my neighbor came to my 13-year-old and told him they had about 130 bales of hay that needed to be loaded.  He told my boy he'd pay him $250 and it would take somewhere around 3 hours.    Jax agreed and off he went.     I knew I had to help him because he's never done anything like that on his own, so as it goes, I end up doing about 50% of the work.     No problem.    That's how I am.    I don't have the patience to be waiting around on people.    We get into hour 6 of our 3 hour job and Jax says, "Dad, let's just finish the rest tomorrow."   I told him I was tired, too, but that we probably just needed to finish what we started.    This is the critical point for most people doing anything in life.....   They get to the hard and tiresome part and quit.    But here's the secret no one will tell you.....   If you're tired, you're only 40% of the way there.    In those moments, that's when you are tested to see if you'll show up and keep your word.    Do the work despite being tired.    Sweaty.    Uninspired.    When we were headed back to the house, Jax looked at me and said, "Dad, I'm glad we got that done.  That was a great lesson."   I hope you take it as a good lesson for yourself, too.    Growth is in the hard work.     But you won't grow if you don't power through the tough parts and make it go!      About the ReWire Podcast   The ReWire Podcast with Ryan Stewman – Dive into powerful insights as Ryan Stewman, the HardCore Closer, breaks down mental barriers and shares actionable steps to rewire your thoughts. The legendary singer/songwriter Yusuf / Cat Stevens released his first album in 1967. He's a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and his albums have sold millions. In 2020, he released Tea for the Tillerman², a re-imagining of his hit 1970 album Tea for the Tillerman. In the song “Father & Son,” he sings a duet between the two title characters, doing both voices. But in the 2020 version, he approached this song in a kind of astonishing way—he recorded the part of the father, but for the part of the son, he used a live recording of himself from 1970, taken from a show he played at The Troubadour in Los Angeles. So the two parts are still both sung in his voice, but 50 years apart.
