The SpielbergPod is a show where me and some friends rewatch the films of Steven Spielberg going through them one at a time . It's a mix of film discussion, humour and just good ol' fashioned conversation among friends. Features of the show include recastings of the films with current day actors,…
This week on the podcast, Kieran and I wrap up our series one coverage of Andor (and dance around not spoiling season two) with a discussion on the episodes 'Daughter of Ferrix' and 'Rix Road', which together make up the final arc of the season.
Here we go again! Paul, Kieran and I continue our Andor coverage by discussing the third arc in this show: the prison arc. That means we are talking about four episodes- 'Announcement', 'Narkina 5', 'Nobody's Listening!' and 'One Way Out'.
Okay, in this episode Paul, Kieran and I continue our Andor coverage by discussing the second arc in this fantastic Star Wars show: the heist arc. This is comprised of three episodes: 'Aldhani', 'The Axe Forgets' and 'The Eye', so we talk about these episodes, the recent series two trailer, fascism, Only Fools and Horses - the usual. Oh, and we'll be back soon to talk about the prison arc!
Since we are fast approaching the release of season two of the show, Kieran, Paul and I finally sat down to talk about the fantastic Star Wars show, Andor. And since we really liked this show, we're going to take our sweet time discussing this bad boy, so this in this episode we only talk about the first three episodes ('Kassa', 'That Would Be Me' and 'Reckoning'), which make up the recruitment arc. We'll be back soon to talk about the heist arc!
Hello! Today on the show Kieran, Paul and I have a focused chat on the Holdo maneuver sequence from Rian Johnson's 'The Last Jedi'. It's a scene we were all big fans of when the film came out and remain so today, and there was a lot to chew on with this (one) perfect scene. Expect talk on the career of Laura Dern too!
I'm planning on doing a bunch of Star Wars coverage in 2025, so I figured why not kick off the year by re-releasing our Holiday Special episode, which Kieran, Paul and I recorded back in 2018 for the sister podcast Easy Riders Raging Podcast, as part of its 1970s series.
In this episode, Kieran and I continue our ongoing Star Wars coverage with a discussion on the recent Disney+ show, The Acolyte. We also try to take the pulse of what's going on with the franchise in general (which may have dated slightly since we recorded this because Lucasfilm is continually announcing/cancelling projects on a daily basis).
Continuing our MCU coverage, this week Kieran and I discuss the latest Marvel show, Agatha All Along, and we have much to discuss, including the Young Avengers, the chances that the Scarlet Witch will return for more movies, why I should never be put in charge of a reality TV show, a programme no-one remembers except Kieran and me and much, much more.
In this episode Kieran and I discuss the Marvel mini-series Secret Invasion (we recorded this a couple of days after the finale aired back in the summer of 2023). We have a lot of thoughts on this show (and the state of the MCU circa July 2023). This episode was recorded as a Patreon exclusive episode (over at https://www.patreon.com/ErrP) but now it's free to listen to, for your audio entertainment. Enjoy!
In this episode (recorded back in the summer of 2023)- continuing our MCU coverage- Paul and I discuss 'Spider-Man: Far From Home' from director Jon Watts. Along the way we also give some thoughts on the future of Tom Holland's Spider-Man, as well as taking the pulse of the MCU circa summer 2023 and recalling some terrible karaoke. This episode was recorded as a Patreon exclusive episode (over at https://www.patreon.com/ErrP) but now it's free to listen to, for your audio entertainment. Enjoy!
An adventure 65 million years in the making!!! So, today I finally sat down and edited the conversation Kieran and I had about about Steven Spielberg's 'West Side Story' that we recorded way way back in May 2022. Apologies for taking so long to get to this but I hope you enjoy the conversation. (I'm going to get to 'The Fablemans' too- I promise!) Oh, and if you want to check out our conversation on the original 'West Side Story', this is available on the sister podcast- Easy Riders Raging Podcast- and was one of our earliest episodes.
This episode completes our trio of X-Men 'One Perfect Scene' episodes, as Kieran joins me to discuss the Quicksilver kitchen scene from 'X-Men: Days of Future Past', where Evan Peters plays a mutant speedster who runs around the room, soundtracked by Jim Croce's 'Time in a Bottle'. (Also, the name of the unnamed actor we talk about for a spell is Clark Duke)
This week- once again, ahead of the release of 'Deadpool and Wolverine', it's another X-Men related One Perfect Scene. This time around it's me and my good friend Kieran discussing the scene where Erik Lensher (played by Michael Fassbender) goes to Argentina and wrecks shop in a sleepy pub, from Matthew Vaughn's 'X-Men: First Class'.
This week- ahead of the release of 'Deadpool and Wolverine', I've returned to the One Perfect Scene format for this solo chat on the opening to 'X2' (AKA X-Men 2), which sees Nightcrawler (played by Alan Cumming) attack the White House.
In this episode, recorded back Autumn 2022, Kieran and I discuss the first series of MCU TV show, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (we recorded this just after the series ended). This episode was recorded as a Patreon exclusive episode (over at https://www.patreon.com/ErrP) but now it's free to listen to, for your audio entertainment. Enjoy!
In this episode, recorded a couple of days after the finale aired, Kieran and I discuss the first (and possibly only- who knows!) season of Star Wars show, Ahsoka from Dave Filoni.
In this episode- recorded back in late November 2023, as I was recovering from COVID- I was delighted to be joined by Is Paul Dano OK?'s Daryl Bär to discuss 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' as part of out ongoing MCU coverage. And aside from singing the praises of this film (we're both big fans), we talk all things Spidey from our early encounters with the character, the comics, the moovies and the multitude of bizarre spin-off films Sony are apparently making (Kraven- we're looking at you and asking 'why?'). And if you want to hear more Spider-Man discussion, you can hear Paul and I talk about 'Spider-Man: Far From Home' right now by going to https://www.patreon.com/ERRP
Okay, when I open this episode with "Recorded a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away" it turns out I'm a 1000% correct as this episode- where Paul, Kieran and I discuss Ron Howard's 'Solo: A Star Wars Story'- was recorded allllllllll the way back in May 2020. Yep, this was one of our early pandemic recordings, recorded during the very first lockdown. So expect a couple of references (both Star Wars and otherwise) to be more than a little dated, but it's a fun conversation between three Star Wars fans who have lots of thoughts on this movie. Oh, and 'the sister podcast' mentioned early on- Easy Riders Raging Podcast- is now (in 2023) on it's 4th series, where we are talking about 1980s films, TV and music videos. Obviously our 1950s run is still available from all good podcast places.
In this solo episode, I discuss the James Mangold film, 'Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny'. And because this film is super new I break it down into a non-spoiler review in the first half of the ep and then I get all spoilery in the back half of the episode.

In this short solo episode- continuing our MCU coverage- I revisited James Gunn's 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' ahead of the release of 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3' later this week.
In this episode, recorded back in Spring 2021 when we were still deeply in lockdown, Kieran, Paul and I discuss the Columbo episode 'Murder by the Book', which was both the first episode of that long-running show and an episode directed by Steven Spielberg. Things to note since this episode was recorded, Angela Lansbury has since sadly passed (we talk about her being still alive in the recording) and also Kieran states Natasha Lyonne would make a perfect Columbo- and recently she has been cast in a Columbo-esque role in Rian Johnson's show Poker Face (which Kieran told me recently is very good).
In this episode- which I'm pretty sure was recorded a couple of days after Queen Elizabeth II died back in 2022 (it gets a brief reference)- Kieran and I continue our MCU Phase 3 coverage with a really fun discussion on 'Dr Strange' from director Scott Derrickson.
In this episode we pick back up with our MCU coverage as Paul and I discuss the third Captain America film, 'Captain America: Civil War'. Expect spoilers for several MCU films which precede this and also many of those which came after this, up to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (we recorded this just before that film came out).

In this episode Kieran and I discuss the latest release from director supremo Steven Spielberg- the music video for the song 'Cannibal' by Marcus Mumford (from Mumford & Sons).
In this super short solo episode I discuss 'Spielberg' the documentary by Susan Lacy. It occurred to me yesterday that this podcast may contain spoilers for forthcoming Steven Spielberg film 'The Fabelmans' but I don't know as I haven't seen it yet. Oh, and apologies for the singing at the start of the episode but once I came up with the tune I couldn't help myself.
In this episode Paul and I discuss the most recent entry in the Jurassic Park franchise, 'Jurassic World Dominion' from director Colin Trevorrow.
Yes, it's another edition of our new feature that's sweeping the Interwebs... it's One Perfect Scene! This time I'm joined by my good friend Jev to discuss the trailer sequence (in which T-Rexes push the heroes off a cliff) from the sequel to Jurassic Park, 'The Lost World'.
In this episode- recorded back in lockdown- Kieran and I delve into the world of television directed by Steven Spielberg, specifically his contributions to the anthology show 'Night Gallery'- Eyes and Make Me Laugh.

SOMETHING HAS SURVIVED! Back in Spring 2020- the early days of the pandemic- Kieran, Paul and I sat down to record a 'DVD commentary'-style episode on Steven Spielberg's 'The Lost World: Jurassic Park' and- just under two years later- here it is for your ear-holes. You can expect us to dwell on the strengths and weaknesses of both this film and the series as a whole (we are not kind to this film's third act, for example), to think ahead on 'Jurassic World: Dominion', as well as talking about Pete Postlethwaite only taking two bullets to the island, dinosaurs and dog-houses and much, much more.
In this episode, featuring very special guests Daryl and Jeanette from Sudden Double Deep, I wrap up my Marvel Phase 2 coverage with a fantastic episode on Peyton Reed's 'Ant-Man'. And for a film about a tiny guy, we have a huge amount to discuss from the Edgar Wright of it all, Michael Douglas' cancer, de-aging in film, the career of Judy Greer (that ryhmes!), great British chocolate bars, X-Men costumes, clapping for the Avengers and much, much more. Join me later in the year for Marvel Phase 3 coverage!
In this episode I continue the MCU Phase 2 coverage with an episode on the 2015 Joss Whedon film, 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'. My very special guest this time around is Empire Magazine's Amon Warmann and we have much to discuss as we find common ground as far as the pros and cons of this movie.
In this episode- part of our Marvel Phase 2 coverage- I'm joined once again by Liam and Matt, two of the hosts of the fantastic Star Trek podcast Spocklight to talk about James Gunn's 'Guardians of the Galaxy'. It's Christmas and so the SpielberPod is picking back up with our MCU coverage with a festive run of episodes on the Phase 2 films. We begin with a very special guest, why, it's Chris Hewitt from The Empire Film Podcast who joins me for a cracking discussion on Shane Black's 'Iron Man 3'.
This week I went to the theatre to see 'Back to the Future the Musical' and decided to record an episode of the SpielbergPod to gather my thoughts on the show (Please note- I make it clear when I'm getting into 'spoiler territory', in case you are thinking of going to see the show).
This week there's more ER chat as Kieran and I discuss the seventh episode of the second season, 'Hell and High Water'. This is easily one of the shows most popular episodes, which sees Dr Ross (George Clooney) trying to save a child trapped in a storm drain. (Note. The ER episode I recommend Kieran but can't remember the title of was 'Love's Labor Lost')
In this episode I'm joined by Jev to kick off a run of television associated with Steven Spielberg. We begin with a discussion on the ER episode '24 Hours', which was the very first episode of that show.
