Holistic means looking at ourselves in a way that includes our entire being, taking each part of ourselves into consideration. When we stop measuring ourselves by how we look, how thin we are, or how much weight we've lost we can begin to embrace all of the physical, emotional, and spiritual parts of ourselves. We move beyond the goals of having a certain body type an into the integrity and magic of the recovery process itself. Andrea Lieberstein, MPH, RDN, IMTA CMT-P, RYT  is director and founder of the Mindful Eating Training Institute (METI International), an internationally recognized teacher trainer, and trains health professionals in an evidence-based mindful eating and living program, and Well Nourished Coach™ training certification programs. She is bestselling author of the book, Well-Nourished: Mindful Practices to Heal Your Relationship with Food, Feed your Whole Self and End Overeating”, which was chosen as “Best Mindfulness Books 2020” by Mindful Magazine. Andrea also offers coaching, programs and retreats for the general public.  She was a lead consultant and mindful eating instructor in NIH funded research at UCSF, is an MB-EAT Teacher Trainer, certified Mindfulness teacher, a dedicated mindfulness meditation practitioner, and MBSR instructor for over thirty years. She spearheaded Mind Body programs at various Kaiser Permanente Northern California centers, for twenty years, and has degrees from Stanford University and the University of California at Berkeley. In her private practice, Andrea works with individuals to have more peace, balance and joy in their relationship with food, nutrition, body-image, and stress-related issues and health concerns or whom simply want to bring their lives back into balance and vibrancy through mindful eating and living. One of Andrea's greatest passions and joys is studying and practicing the Dharma and sharing the life transforming practices of mindfulness, compassion, mindful eating, yoga, nature awareness, and healthy lifestyles with others. www.mindfuleatingtraining.com, www.yourwellnourishedlife.com, https://www.facebook.com/mindfuleatingtraining★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

Well, often, we turn to food to nourish parts of our lives that it is not equipped to nourish. Have you ever turned to food to soothe anxiety or stress? This is a really common way that we ask food to do something that it's not meant to do. In this episode, Andrea teaches specific strategies for how to bring mindfulness into the act of eating. This week on Relationships 2.0 my guest is Andrea Lieberstein author of Well Nourished: Mindful Practices to Heal Your Relationship with Food, Feed Your Whole Self, and End Overeating About the book: Many people use food to nourish themselves when what they are really hungry for is other forms of nourishment. What if we were living a life where we felt well-nourished emotionally, intellectually, physically, psychologically, spiritually, socially, and creatively? What if we were mindfully present to receive, experience, plan for, and engage in nourishing activities, moments, and practices regularly that fed us on many levels. What if we were able to maintain an inner sense of balance and nourishment even when things are not perfectly in balance, and have the tools and practices to do so rather than turn to food at those times? This book will show readers how to develop a mindful relationship to food and craft a well-nourished life with step-by-step examples, tools, and mindful practices that can be individualized to their unique needs. About the author: Andrea Lieberstein, MPH, RDN, RYT, is a registered dietitian nutritionist, mindful eating and mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) instructor, and coach. Andrea was a leader in developing and implementing mindfulness and mind-body programs at Kaiser Permanente Northern California for over 20 years and is a contributing author to the chapter on meditation in The Stress Reduction and Relaxation Training Workbook(5th edition), New Harbinger Press. Andrea incorporates mindfulness-based eating awareness training (MB-EAT), MBSR, and other mindful eating and mindfulness-based mind-body practices in her private practice working with individuals on a wide range of nutritional challenges: nutrition for optimal well-being, disordered eating, overeating, weight management, body image, and stress-related issues and health concerns. Andrea holds degrees from Stanford University and the University of California at Berkeley.
