Many podcasters feel pressured to "pick a lane," fearing that if they talk about all their expert topics in the same show, they'll confuse their audience. This "niched-down" anxiety often leads to burnout or a show that feels incomplete because you aren't bringing your whole self to the mic. In this episode of Podcasting Unlocked, Alesia sits down with Brittany Biggett-Heeren, a group fitness instructor and health law expert, to discuss how she successfully integrated her diverse expertise into her show, The Wednesday Wellness Debrief. Beyond podcast strategy, we dive deep into the critical need for postpartum advocacy and maternal health awareness, especially for Black women who face unique societal pressures to "put the cape back on" immediately after childbirth. This week, episode 259 of Podcasting Unlocked is about bringing your full expertise to your podcast strategy! Brittany Biggett-Heeren is the host of a holistic wellness podcast dedicated to empowering professional mothers through the journey of Matrescence using the evidence-based Nine Pillars of Wellness framework. As a certified Pre- and Postnatal Fitness Specialist and former corporate manager with a background in Health Law, she brings a unique, highly-niche perspective to content strategy and business growth. In this episode of Podcasting Unlocked, Brittany Biggett-Heeren is sharing the importance of understanding your whole self when podcasting and actionable steps you can take right now to have a multi-faceted show. Brittany and I also chat about the following: The "Whole-Self" Strategy: You don't have to choose between your professional expertise (like law) and your personal passions (like fitness). Use podcast segments to transition between topics, allowing you to serve as a comprehensive resource for your audience. The Postpartum Gap: Most pregnancy resources focus on the birth, but the postpartum period (the "fourth trimester") is often the most dangerous and under-supported phase for parents. Advocacy is essential to ensure mothers aren't treated as "afterthoughts" once the baby arrives.Dismantling the "Superwoman" Stigma: Black mothers, in particular, face intense societal pressure to recover instantly and handle everything alone. True recovery requires "getting back to the foundation" and treating postpartum healing like the major physical and mental event it is.Be sure to tune in to all the episodes to receive tons of practical tips on turning your podcast listeners into leads and to hear even more about the points outlined above. At the heart of everything is this beautiful truth: we're shaped by the relationships we trust most. The identity we carry—who we believe we are deep down—affects every choice we make and every room we walk into. When our core relationship is rooted in God's unwavering love, we discover a kind of freedom that changes everything. We're no longer hustling to prove ourselves or running from our fears. Instead, we're held by someone who knows us completely and loves us anyway. This isn't about following more rules or trying harder; it's about being formed by love itself. God's care provides safety. His commitment brings security. His faithfulness opens up freedom. And here's the remarkable part: because of what Jesus has done, sin doesn't get the final word anymore. We've been brought from death to life, which means we get to live differently—not perfectly, but purposefully. We get to offer every part of who we are to God, trusting that His grace is big enough to cover our mess and powerful enough to make us whole. This is what it means to be fully known and truly loved.
We exhaust ourselves chasing perfection and approval, often settling for counterfeit fulfillment when life doesn't deliver on our terms. We cling to familiar misery instead of uncertain hope, withholding the very parts of ourselves that need to be known and building fortresses when we actually need trust. But here's the truth: our security isn't found in what we produce—it's rooted in relational stability and experiencing God's trustworthiness. He's already at work filling those broken places, restoring what's been fractured, and inviting us to stop performing and start trusting. The life you actually want is on the other side of being fully known and fully loved.
We've all felt it—that sense of being pulled in a dozen different directions, trying to keep all the pieces of our lives from falling apart. We treat faith like just another item on our already overloaded to-do list, squeezing it in between work deadlines and family obligations. But here's the truth: we weren't meant to live this way. We're not called to juggle fragments or master some impossible balancing act. Instead, we're invited into something far better—a life that's centered, whole, and fully alive. When we stop trying to manage our scattered pieces and instead allow our relationship with God to become the organizing force of everything we do, something remarkable happens. The chaos settles. The striving eases. We discover that wholeness isn't about doing more or being perfect; it's about knowing who we are and whose we are. That single truth has the power to reorder everything, bringing the kind of peace and purpose our souls have been longing for all along.

Send us a textWhat does true worship actually look like?In Day 21 of our Advent series Daily Devotions with Dead People, we turn to Lucy Hutchinson (1620–1681) to reflect on worship as both internal and external—not just what we sing, but how we live, kneel, pray, and orient our whole selves before God.Lucy reminds us that worship without the heart is hypocrisy, but worship that claims to be “spiritual” while rejecting embodied obedience is only half-worship. True worship involves faith, reverence, love, posture, obedience, and joy—offered wholly to God as Creator, Redeemer, and Benefactor. As Christmas approaches, this episode invites us to examine how we worship privately and publicly, in church and at home, with both soul and body.

In this conversation, Laura welcomes Dr. La-Toya Gaines, Founder & CEO of Family Matters Counseling and Psychological Services, to explore what it truly means to practice whole self-care—beyond the trends, beyond the myths, and beyond the surface. La-Toya expands the definition of self-care beyond activities and indulgence to include rest, boundaries, community support, emotional tending, identity work, and the practices that allow us to be fully human. Additionally, Laura and La-Toya examine the deep connection between the Strong Black Woman archetype and self-neglect. They unpack how this trope shapes our labor, our silence, and our expectations of ourselves; and how whole self-care disrupts it. Together, they examine the emotional, psychological, physical, and communal layers of care that Black women need and deserve. For those who feel they've been neglecting themselves, La-Toya offers compassionate first steps to reconnect, rebuild, and recommit to their wellbeing. This heartfelt conversation offers both grounding insight and practical guidance for anyone ready to reconnect with themselves, disrupt harmful tropes, and reclaim self-care as a path to healing and liberation. In the final week of Rhythms, Pastor Tyler invites us to see our bodies the way God sees them: as holy places where His Spirit dwells. Instead of viewing our bodies only through frustration, insecurity, or the pressure to perform, Scripture reminds us that we were created in God's image, formed with purpose, and called to glorify Him with our whole selves.Your strengths and your limitations are not accidents, they are opportunities to worship the God who is shaping you from the inside out.Questions for Reflection:• How are you using your strengths to worship God?• How are you using your weaknesses to worship God?
The Find Your Leadership Confidence Podcast with Vicki Noethling
✨ Be Unapologetically You! ✨ In this inspiring convo, Vicki Noethling chats with Katherine Lazaruk about how embracing your Whole Person, Whole Presence can change how you lead, live, and love yourself.
We've all heard the advice: bring your whole self to work. But recently, two voices made me stop and rethink that message — Amy Edmondson, who reminds us that authenticity needs accountability, and Jodi-Ann Burey, whose book Authentic: The Myth of Bringing Your Full Self to Work explores how “being yourself” can carry a cost, especially for women and people of colour.Amy's post offered a great example: a colleague who interrupts everyone and says, “That's just how I am.” Authentic? Maybe. But not exactly inclusive. Her point: instead of bringing our whole selves, we should bring our best selves — still imperfect, but aware of others. Then there's Jodi-Ann's story: accused of having a “race agenda” two weeks into a new job, even though inclusion was part of her role. It highlights the contradiction so many people face — workplaces say they want authenticity and diversity, but often punish it when it shows up in real life. For me, authenticity isn't about exposure, it's about integrity — showing up in a way that feels aligned and safe. True belonging means both care and accountability, for ourselves and for the spaces we share.

Burnout recovery often hides behind image management. When leadership becomes about polishing the mask, presence disappears. Discover how Identity-Level Recalibration restores peace, belonging, and whole-self leadership.High-capacity humans often learn early: image is currency. You polish the mask, keep the story clean, hold the role tight — because that's what gets approval, recognition, and access. But here's the hidden cost: the more you manage the image, the further you drift from yourself. This episode explores what happens when leadership becomes about managing appearances instead of leading from identity. Julie shares her own lived story of trying to serve by shifting into roles that felt helpful to others, but losing grounding in the process. It wasn't about pleasing or pretending — it was about carrying and supporting. Yet over time, the cost was presence and authenticity. From there, we dive into the science: predictive processing explains why outdated roles stick. Your brain constantly predicts who you need to be to reduce risk, and your nervous system equates stillness with danger if your history tied slowing down to criticism or rejection. We unpack how composure masks can unintentionally create cultures of bracing instead of belonging — and why no amount of leadership tactics or personal branding hacks can solve this.Instead, integration at the nervous system level is where change happens. This is the heart of Identity-Level Recalibration — not another mindset trick, but the root-level reset that makes every other tool effective. To bring this to life, Julie highlights Jane Goodall, who embodied authentic leadership through presence, integrity, and quiet strength. Her breakthroughs came not from managing her image, but from being fully herself — and the world responded.Today's Micro Recalibration: “I am becoming the person who leads from overflow, not proof.”For leaders: consider how modeling this would shift your culture. When you lead from overflow instead of proof, you give your team permission to do the same.If this episode gave you language you've been missing, please rate and review the show so more high-capacity humans can find it. In this episode, Claudia shares the deeply personal journey of how faith became the foundation for her life and leadership. From growing up in a Chinese American immigrant family in New York City, to building a multimillion-dollar women's entertainment company, to burning out in her 30s—Claudia reflects on how church and discovering her relationship with God reshaped everything. She opens up about meeting her husband John, being introduced to church for the first time, and how the messages she heard Sunday after Sunday gave her a new lens for leadership, wholeness, and purpose. This awakening inspired her to create S.H.E. Summit—a global leadership conference—and later the Whole-Self Leaders movement, both dedicated to equipping people to lead change from a place of integrity, courage, and faith.Claudia also shares candid reflections on navigating politics, culture, and identity as a person of faith, why so much of our leadership DNA is rooted in spiritual teachings, and why this moment in history is calling us to slow down, reconnect with our soul, and lead from wholeness. If you've ever wondered how faith can transform not just your inner life, but your ability to impact the world, this conversation will speak to you.

In this episode, Anthony Hartcher delves into the universal experience of loneliness in the digital age and unpacks the paradox of feeling “connected” even as we grow more isolated. He highlights why meeting face-to-face nurtures deeper bonds, trust, and genuine vulnerability. Along the way, Anthony explains how mirror neurons underpin our ability to empathise and learn from others, and he shows how stepping back and letting people solve their own problems can actually empower them. Ultimately, he argues that embracing every facet of who we are—and recognising those same parts in others—is the key to cultivating authentic, integrated relationships. TakeawaysLoneliness is a subjective experience, not defined by external factors.Social media creates a false sense of connection through highlight reels.In-person interactions allow for deeper conversations and connections.Trust and vulnerability are essential for meaningful relationships.Oxytocin plays a key role in feeling connected to others.Mirror neurons help us understand and relate to others' behaviors.Judging others often reflects our own unacknowledged feelings.Disempowering others can lead to their personal growth and resourcefulness.Integration of the self is crucial for authentic connections.Feeling at one with oneself is the first step to connecting with others.Beyond This Conversation Consider how these ideas play out across different generations—from teens to retirees—and in settings like the workplace, classrooms, or community groups. Reflect on the role of video calls and hybrid gatherings: Can digital platforms ever approximate the trust and oxytocin release that come from in-person moments? Instagram: @thegolfhypnotherapist Twitter: @parsoverbogeys Key Takeaways: Mindset goes beyond routines. It's not just about pre-shot breathing or staying positive—it's about rewiring how you think, feel, and respond under pressure. You bring your whole self to the course. Your fears, beliefs, and emotional patterns show up in your swing, decision-making, and reactions. Fear drives self-sabotage. Fear of success, fear of failure, and fear of judgment all contribute to rushing, over-trying, and tightening up. Flow state is possible—and trainable. You can learn to access deeper focus and bypass conscious interference, creating effortless, confident swings. The subconscious is irrational. It's like a five-year-old running the show—until you learn to reprogram it. Reactions are patterns. Responses are power. You can train yourself to respond with calm, clarity, and curiosity—even after OB or three-putts. Change your identity, change your score. If you don't believe you're someone who can shoot in the 60s, your subconscious will keep the score higher. Key Quotes: “We bring our whole selves to the game of golf.” “The mental game is a checklist. Mindset is who you become.” “Your subconscious doesn't care if it makes sense. It just wants to protect you.” “The conscious mind is the goal-setter. The subconscious is the goal-getter.” “Golf is just a mirror of your personal development journey.” “You're either in the driver's seat of your life—or blaming someone else from the passenger side.” Time Stamps: 00:00: Introduction and Energy Exchange 01:09: Understanding the Mental Game of Golf 03:10: The Depth of Mindset in Golf 04:55: Exploring Emotional Connections in Golf 08:18: The Impact of Mindset on Performance 10:28: Overcoming Fear and Embracing Change 10:56: The Role of Fear in Personal Growth 14:02: The Importance of Identity in Performance 21:57: Building Mental Toughness 31:53: The Power of Positivity 42:25: Taking Ownership of Your Story

In this week's episode, I sit down with my friend Julie Honeycutt, a licensed professional counselor, certified IFS therapist, and approved clinical consultant. Julie has been integrating faith and counseling for over 20 years, and in this conversation, we explore how our attachment styles, parts, Enneagram, and developmental stages all shape our prayer life and spiritual connection. Julie shares that our attachment patterns and spiritual experiences are deeply linked, and how IFS offers a pathway to spirituality and how our different parts, even those with doubts We explore the idea that prayer doesn't have to look a certain way. It can show up in movement, in gardening, in painting, or even in those “texting prayers” we send up throughout the day. As Julie says, “What would it be like if our prayer life could reflect the unique way that God made us?” Julie also introduces the idea of the “levels of faith” and how parts of us may sit at different levels. Some of our parts may still hold early beliefs that we've outgrown, but they are still worthy of attention and care. We talk about: How our parts have different attachment styles in prayer Why anxious parts often get exiled in spirituality The connection between the Enneagram, personality, and prayer How our developmental stage impacts how we experience faith Why meeting ourselves in our prayer life without shame changes everything How gardening and movement can be a spiritual practice Julie reminds us that all parts are welcome: “Even that part is welcome.” About Julie: Julie Honeycutt is a licensed professional counselor, certified IFS therapist for over 15 years and an Approved Clinical Consultant for the IFS Institute. She's been practicing the integration of faith and counseling for over 20 years in her private practice as well as in workshops and retreats. With so many stressful events going on in the world, do you want to feel at peace, but find yourself getting triggered? Lisa continues the conversation today with guest Tamala Floyd, an expert in the Internal Family Systems model of psychotherapy. She further discusses “parts” therapy and explains how to be in relationship with our “selves” and our internal guidance systems. Tamala is a psychotherapist, consultant, author, and speaker with more than 20 years of experience. Her books and audio include “Listening When Parts Speak” and “Healing the Wounded Mother.” Tamala talks about the importance of our parts, including ones who hold rage, as well as the anxious parts, and the harming parts, which includes self-harm. These parts are common to humans across the world. Any part could be used for protection. Anything that our parts have taken on as a burden is to protect us from our internal wounds. We may feel unlovable or not good enough. This is the part that pushes people away. All the messages we get when we are young, whether we feel unworthy, too loud, too quiet, etc. all actually protect us. Tamala talks about Internal Family Systems. Our parts operate like family. Some get along, while some do not. Some have certain skills, which can help to heal. She explains how parts theory is based on Internal Family Systems. So how can a raging part protect us? At some point, it protects the sensitive part of ourselves. It's the protector for the one who is too sensitive. All parts do not speak. They may show as a color, change of temperature, a picture, or feeling. We can also talk to ancestral parts of ourselves and bring them into present time. Tamala also discusses “legacy burdens” which are the burdens passed down through generations. These are not lived experiences, but experiences that are passed down. It can be incredibly uplifting to release these burdens. She explains that these are often easier to release, and once they are released, the person has more energy to work on themselves. Tamala also leads us through a powerful process of talking to our parts. She asks us to let it be however it needs to be and invites us to note what it is telling us. Listen. Be open and curious. She also discusses generational gifts and heirlooms. We don't want to get rid of our parts; we want to get rid of the burdens so we can be in a healthy relationship with them. Tamala also talks about her new audio program, “Healing the Wounded Mother.” It's about going to the source first. She invites us to get to the root of what's happening so healing can occur.
Do you often feel stressed when you watch the news? Do you want to feel at peace, but find yourself getting triggered? How do we manage this? Our guest today is Tamala Floyd, an expert in the Internal Family Systems model of psychotherapy. She discusses “parts” therapy and explains how to be in relationship with our “selves” and our internal guidance systems. Tamala is a psychotherapist, consultant, author, and speaker with more than 20 years of experience. Her books and audio include “Listening When Parts Speak” and “Healing the Wounded Mother.” She discusses how there is a part inside of us that is untouched. That is the Self. The other parts obscure this. It is when the separate parts come into relationship with each other that we can begin to become whole. When there is trauma, we cope by disassociating and our parts start to separate. They come up with strategies to keep us safe. If we grew up in an abusive household, we become dysfunctional. These previously used coping strategies no longer work. We can also take on generational trauma, and not even know it. It's carried in our DNA. We are disconnected from our original ancestor, but it was so important for survival, it continues down the generational line. Tamala talks about the effect of slavery. Her parents were raised in Jim Crow Louisiana. So few opportunities existed, so she was taught you had to be much better and pursue excellence to the point of perfection. There were not enough positions to go around, so you had to be excellent. How can we find the disenfranchised parts of ourselves? It starts by looking at things that aren't working. Tamala also explains that we can look at what causes us to be triggered. When those triggers happen, and we get upset, that's the starting point to find our parts. The first way to get in contact with a part is to see how it shows up. Does your stomach feel tight? Are you sensing your breath change? Our physical body reveals answers. We can be curious about these relationships, then get to a place where we feel the qualities of self. Tamala explains how what's left is our true self. She talks about the importance of the “8 Cs.” The whole self has compassion, curiosity, calm, connectedness, courage, creativity, clarity, and confidence. When we recognize them, we can move toward peace and healing. Info: tamalafloyd.com

Spiritual development requires an open heart. It is virtually impossible for a seeker to advance to higher consciousness if they don't love themselves. The belief system which has been ingrained in our cellular memory from childhood that we are not good enough results in a conditioned mind. The conditioned mind holds the false belief that there is something missing in our lives, that we are incomplete, that we need to gain something in order to become happy and whole, which is not true. After a life time of searching, Zarathustra has blended a practical system of Eastern and Western methods and techniques to help the Academy members to free themselves from anxiety, negative thoughts, lack of self-love and self-acceptance and destructive emotional patterns through a systematic way to raise your vibration to 5D Vibrational Frequency, which enables you to live a vibrant life of freedom and happiness. The Key Elements To Freedom:Zarathustra recognizes continuity and consistency are the key elements to freedom. In order to help you achieve your spiritual goals, it's best to have a highly effective spiritual practice, free of dogmas, false beliefs and superstition that helps you raise your vibration to 5D Vibrational Frequency as well as the ability to maintain this newly found higher level of consciousness. “It's important we bring our whole self — that's how you create trust, you bring that vulnerability. I had to learn to let my guard down, and it's made me a better leader.”Susie Quesada is President of Ramar Foods - one of the oldest leading manufacturers of Filipino foods in America. While Ramar is news to most of us - it's not to the 4M+ Filipino Americans out there - and we've all got a Filipino friend (or more than a few). While Susie Quesada grew up in the family's business - starting work at the age of 8 - she actually pursued a career in public education. She later rejoined Ramar full time in 2005 in various positions before assuming the role of President in 2013. For her - it's all about the legacy that her grandmother and father started. This conversation was hosted by FrieMMd of the Pod Lisa Angulo Reid —sharing conversations with Filipino and Asian American changemakers.
