Send us a Text Message.Arianne Martell and conspirators try to spirit Myrcella Baratheon away in order to crown her Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. Their plot is foiled by Areo Hotah - who ambushes them and kills Arys Oakheart. Mackelly and Simon will miss the big guy.Chapter Review:Princess Arianne Martell and a handful of her closest friends wait at an abandoned holdfast for Ser Arys Oakheart and Princess Myrcella Baratheon. The rendezvous is the start of a long journey across Dorne. At the end of the journey, Arianne plans to crown Myrcella as Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. While they wait, her friend Garin shares news of the sighting of Arianne's brother Quentyn Martell in Planky Town seeking passage across the Narrow Sea. This only affirms Arianne's suspicions that Quentyn seeks the aid of the Golden Company to steal Arianne's birthright. With the new queen of the Seven Kingdoms on her side, and the support of the vast majority of the Dornish, Arianne will be sure to foil any of her brother's plans. When Ser Arys and Princess Myrcella arrive, Aryanne explains to Myrcella that Myrcella is the rightful queen and that Tommen has fallen in with bad advisors who have robbed her of her birthright. A confused Myrcella decides not to push the issue. The group leave for the Greenblood. Garin's family will meet them and take them up the river toward their destination. After a long, hot trip they arrive at the meeting point and find the boat where it should be.

Wit and Wisdom of JoeMagician

After talking last week about the newest Kingsguard Ser Robert Strong, and the week before about the lusty Lucamore Strong, figured this week would venture back into the main books and talk the Kingsguard who lost his head and soiled his cloak like a modern Lucamore in Dorne: Ser Arys Oakheart. One of the very few single POV chapter characters that isn't a prologue or epilogue, Arys shows up in the story to only quickly exit it. And yet, there's good reasons George included the most recently casualty of the Kingsguard. Honor, duty, vows, and the unstoppable advances of Arianne Martell. And of course, the similarities between the life and death of Ser Arys Oakheart and the legend of Ser Gawain and the Green Knight. How the axe looms over Arys' head just as it did Gawain.    Link to stream: https://youtu.be/Pso9Wdiba2o Dying of the Light chapter 2: https://www.patreon.com/posts/54241987

A SPECIAL OF ICE AND FIRE: As winter approaches and Game of Thrones will soon provide answers regarding the conclusion of George R.R. Martin's as yet unfinished Song of Ice and Fire novels, we wanted to talk about that entire situation and how the TV show outstripping the books may affect the story of the series in general. Ariana and Natalie - both book readers and show watchers - are joined by ASOIAF superfan (and wordsmith for another of the great genre television epics of our time) Meredith Glynn to traverse the Seven Kingdoms and consider some of the book-to-screen moments that we loved and loathed. From Dorne to the Iron Islands, we delve deep but barely scratch the surface of this massive feat of worldbuilding, but one thing unites us: we've always got our Sansa ships to get all weird about. Also, Jon/Dany is the worst, goodbye. Each episode, our Not About The Weather hosts and their guests will bring an obsession to share and a grievance to air from the their experiences in the world of pop culture, fandom, or sometimes, just plain old life. #ANA - Ask NATW Anything: "If given choice of any Castle in Westeros, where do you live?"
