While they wait, her friend Garin shares news of the sighting of Arianne's brother Quentyn Martell in Planky Town seeking passage across the Narrow Sea. Aboard a merchant ship, Jaime and Bronn sail to Dorne to rescue Myrcella and getting betrayed and caught up while doing so. Cersei has the Iron Bank on her ass and they want 10% of what's owed to them...and she ain't got it. She sends Mace Tyrell to go talk to them as well as getting him out of the way.  Cersei also plots with the High Sparrow to try and manipulate the faith to do her dirty work. Jaime and Brienne arrive in King's Landing. They've learned that bad news awaits them. Brienne is immediately imprisoned, while Jaime gets into it with his father and his sister. Simon and Mackelly hope for a bit more love and a lot less, respectively.Chapter Review:Jaime Lannister arrives in King's Landing with Brienne, Qyburn, and Roose Bolton's men. It's not changed that much, still stinks. They've learned en-route of the deaths at the weddings (the red and the purple). Jaime is struggling to find the correct emotion. He cares more about how Cersei is feeling and feeling sorry for himself about his hand.Upon arrival, they meet Ser Loras Tyrell, who denounces Brienne as a kingslayer - of Renly that is. Jaime arranges for Brienne to be imprisoned (temporarily, for her own good). Jaime visits the sept, where Joffrey lies in state. He finds his twin mourning over their dead child. She affirms that it was Tyrion who killed Joffrey. They have sex there and then. Jaime wants to be open about their relationship, but Cersei roughly disabuses him of that idea.Jaime visits his father, who reports that Vargo Hoat is getting his comeuppance from Gregor Clegane, who has retaken Harrenhal. Jaime is to leave the Kingsguard, marry Margaery Tyrell (Cersei will marry Oberyn Martell) and take King Tommen to Casterly Rock to be raised away from his mother. Jaime flat out refuses. “We should start back” sono le primissime parole de “Le Cronache del Ghiaccio e del Fuoco” di George R.R. Martin e noi abbiamo pensato di fare esattamente così. In questo episodio, è il compleanno di Joffrey e Sansa assiste al patetico torneo organizzato all'interno delle mura della Fortezza Rossa. Viene scortata da Ser Arys Oakheart, sotto la cometa rossa che svetta alta nei cieli. Saranno solo lei, Joffrey, Myrcella e Tommen i reali a presenziare, Cersei è impegnata col Concilio Ristretto e nessun altro è presente in città. We're already halfway through Season 7, as we approach one of the best episodes that occured in the latest part of the show's run, Season 7, Episode 3, "The Queen's Justice." This was a monumental episode for several different reasons, the most notable one being that this episode finally saw the long awaited first meeting between Jon Snow & Daenerys Targaryen, with Jon arriving at Dragonstone to treat with Daenerys and attempt to explain to her the threat from the dead, only to discover that Daenerys is hell bent on conquering all of the seven kingdoms, including bringing the North back into the fold. This episode also contains Cersei Lannister's most gangster moment since blowing up the Sept of Baelor, with Euron presenting the Sand Snakes to her as his gift to her, and Cersei getting to exact her long awaited revenge on Ellaria for Myrcella's murder in a scene that is equal parts jaw dropping as it is horrifying. The episode is just filled from top to bottom with incredible moments, characters reuniting and more. Bran finally arrives home in Winterfell and reunites with Sansa, only to shake her with his newfound powers. Jorah is cured of Greyscale and bids goodbye to Sam, who's both rewarded and punished for it. Tyrion enacts his plan to have the Unsullied seize Casterly Rock, only for them to be waylayed and trapped inland as Jaime has taken the full force of the Lannister army to Highgarden, taking out yet another one of Daenerys' allies, but not before Olenna gives him one last revelation before she departs from the world and the show. It's yet another high stakes episode as we inch even closer to the battle for the throne.

We've reached it, another finale to probably our most problematic and least enjoyable season of the show yet. Season 5 ultimately proved to be a severe downshift for the show, as this was the full transition away from the books, away from the awesome character moments and amazingly well thought out story decisions that carried the first four seasons to make something that truly earned its spot in the prestige TV hall of fame. Then with this season, to quote Professor Pat, just became another show. An exceedingly well made show, but just another show nonetheless. This finale "Mother's Mercy" is a cap off of that transition, with several moments that were extremely shocking and provoking in the moment, but have lost their steam with the benefit of hindsight, and others that just felt like quick wiffs to set up for what was coming next. Stannis is ultimately defeated both on the battlefield and in his moral compass, and meets his death at the hands of Brienne. Sansa & Theon escape Winterfell in a moment that felt a little too convenient to the plot. Jon is betrayed, stabbed and left to die by the brothers of the Night's Watch. Arya kills Meryn Trant, but is chastised by the Faceless Men for taking a life that wasn't hers. Jorah & Daario set off to find Daenerys, who finds herself at the mercy of the Dothraki, while Tyrion is left in charge of Meereen. Jaime leaves Dorne with Myrcella and tries to come clean to her, only for her to die in his arms. Cersei atones for her sins by committing a walk of penance, naked, across the city. We're almost at the end of yet another season! It's been a real chore beginning the track of the second half of the show, but at the very least I can say that Season 5 goes out on a high note. It's yet another penultimate episode, which are always fun to cover for this show. This one is entitled "The Dance of Dragons" after both the fifth and most recent book in the Song of Ice & Fire source material as well as the ancient Targaryen civil war between Aegon II Targaryen and his sister Rhaenyra over their father Viserys I's throne. This penultimate functions a little differently than previous ones, with previous penultimate episodes focusing on either a series of events that build up to a tragic betrayal resulting in death or a battle sequence that takes place in one location across the entire episode. This one instead opts to focus as more of a transition between the action packed Hardhome and the jam packed finale next week. Jon arrives back at the Wall with the remainder of the Wildling survivors and after a tense standoff, witnesses the fruit of his labor in his alienation of the Night's Watch. In Braavos, Arya attempts to carry out her first major assignment, but instead is distracted by the arrival of Meryn Trant, one of the few survivors so far from her kill list, putting her in a dangerous position. In Dorne, Jaime negotiates with Prince Doran for Myrcella's return to King's Landing, in a disappointing and unfulfilling end to a storyline that could have been awesome and was clearly setting up to play a bigger part in the story going forward. In the North, Ramsay's attack leaves Stannis' forces crippled, forcing him to make a terrible choice. In Meereen, Daenerys oversees the beginning of the Great Games in the Fighting pits. Alright, we've officially reached the point of no return, Season 5, Episode 6, the infamous Dorne disaster, "Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken." The Martell sigil words, which seems to signify the pigheadedness of all the characters and their actions as they move towards the finale. This is the second episode written by Bryan Cogman & directed by Jeremy Podeswa, and has become very controversial in the years since both for the changes made to the Dorne storyline as well as the ending scene, which presents Sansa being horrifically and rather brutally sexually assaulted by Ramsay on the night of their wedding, a moment that was heavily criticized as being gratuituous for the sake of being gratuituous rather than actually contributing to the story in a meaningful way. Jaime & Bronn finally reach the Water Gardens to rescue Myrcella, but are interrupted by the Sand Snakes as they also make their attempt to kidnap and kill her. Arya continues to clean bodies in the House of Black & White but is able to prove herself. Tyrion & Jorah are captured by slavers, but Tyrion convinces them to bring them to Meereen to Daenerys. In King's Landing, Loras is placed on trial but the High Sparrow stacks the tables against them and has both him & Margaery imprisoned. Myrcella sets sail for Dorne, via Braavos. Riding back through the city a riot breaks out. Lives are lost, but thanks to the Hound not Sansa Stark's. Jacelyn Bywater informs Tyrion that the smallfolk consider Tyrion the root of all their problems. With Bronn and Varys, Tyrion begins to consider replacing Joffrey with Tommen. Simon and Mackelly weigh the options. Chapter Review: Myrcella Baratheon is shipping off to Dorne where, when older, she will marry Trystane Martell. She's going a circuitous route, which will significantly reduce King's Landing's already insufficient naval force, but Cersei wants her daughter safe. Ser Arys Oakheart of the Kingsguard will travel with her as her personal bodyguard. Her arrival in Braavos is the signal for the Martells to move into the passes that border the Stormlands with the intent of holding some of Stannis' forces from the envisioned assault on King's Landing. The royal party heads back through the streets, lined with hangry citizens. The king is struck in the face with excrement, and rather than hastening a retreat to the Red Keep, he stops to set his Hound on those he perceives to blame. A riot ensues. Several in the party lose their lives including the High Septon. But Sansa Stark, briefly lost, is saved by Sandor Clegane. Hours later, the gold cloaks have regained control of the city, but Bywater warns Tyrion that the situation worsens daily. The smallfolk believe their suffering began when Tyrion was named Hand of the King. Tyrion is hurt by the insinuation. Bronn notes that Tommen is a much nicer kid than Joffrey and Westeros would be so much nicer of a place if the younger brother was to somehow become the King. Tyrion cannot help but imagine the prospect. Characters/Places/Names/Events: Queen Cersei Lannister - Widow of King Robert Baratheon, twin sister of Ser Jamie Lannister. Mother of King Joffrey Baratheon.King Joffrey Baratheon - Bastard son of Jaime Lannister and his twin sister Queen Cersei Lannister. Currently King Joffrey Baratheon First of His Name. Highlights from The Hard Shoulder

Fionn Davenport joined Kieran Cuddihy on the Hard Shoulder another episode of Europe's Hidden Highlights, this week he visits the Dalmatian coast of Croatia. Getting There Aer Lingus (aerlingus.com) flies into Dubrovnik in the south and Pula in the north. Ryanair (Ryanair.com) flies into Zadar, south of Pula about halfway down the coast. Getting Around There's an excellent bus network all along the coast – Split to Dubrovnik in 3 hours, Zadar to Split in two, etc – but Jadrolinea runs hydrofoil, catamaran and ferry services all along the coast, linking the main towns with the islands. Accommodation The main tourist centres are pretty expensive – especially Hvar and Dubrovnik. Split less so, but if you go elsewhere along the coast or to lesser known islands, the prices come down again. I opted for Airbnb, which gave me great choices in a multitude of price brackets.  Split Croatia's second-largest city, Split (Spalato in Italian) is a great place to see Dalmatian life as it's really lived. Always buzzing, this exuberant city has just the right balance of tradition and modernity. Step inside Diocletian's Palace (a Unesco World Heritage site and one of the world's most impressive Roman monuments) and you'll see dozens of bars, restaurants and shops thriving amid the atmospheric old walls where Split life has been humming along for thousands of years. To top it off, Split has a unique setting. Its dramatic coastal mountains act as the perfect backdrop to the turquoise waters of the Adriatic and help divert attention from the dozens of shabby high-rise apartment blocks that fill its suburbs. It's this thoroughly lived-in aspect of Split that means it will never be a fantasy land like Dubrovnik, but you could argue that it's all the better for that. Accommodation: As you'd expect in a big city that is also a tourist hub, prices in Split tend to be higher than the average - but not as high as the likes of Dubrovnik or Hvar. That said, Split has a good range of hostels and some excellent apartment-style providers catering to the midrange market.  Trogir Gorgeous Trogir is set within medieval walls on a tiny island, linked by bridges to both the mainland and to the far larger Čiovo island. On summer nights everyone gravitates to the wide seaside promenade, lined with bars, cafes and yachts - leaving the knotted mazelike marble streets gleaming mysteriously under old-fashioned streetlights. The old town has retained many intact and beautiful buildings from its age of glory, between the 13th and 15th centuries. In 1997 its profuse collection of Romanesque and Renaissance buildings earned it World Heritage status. While it's easily reached on a day-trip from Split, Trogir also makes a good alternative base to the big city and a relaxing place to spend a few days. Brač Brač is famous for two things: its radiant white stone, from which Diocletian's Palace in Split and the White House in Washington DC (oh, yes!) are made, and Zlatni Rat, the long pebbly beach at Bol that extends lasciviously into the Adriatic and adorns 90% of Croatia's tourism posters. It's the largest island in central Dalmatia, with several towns and sleepy villages and a dramatic Mediterranean landscape of steep cliffs, inky waters and pine forests. The interior of the island is liberally scattered with piles of rocks – the result of the back-breaking labour of women who, over hundreds of years, gathered the rocks in order to clear land for the cultivation of vineyards and olive, fig, almond and sour-cherry orchards. The tough living conditions on the island meant that a lot of people moved to the mainland in search of work, leaving the interior almost deserted. Driving around and exploring Brač's stone villages is one of the island's loveliest experiences. The two main centres, Supetar and Bol, differ greatly from one another: Supetar is a pleasant if unassuming place, while Bol revels in its more exclusive appeal. Zlatni Rat – highly overrated. It looks great – from a helicopter. Otherwise it's just another packed pebbly beach. There are far nicer beaches on the other side of Bol – but to really get the experience rent a motorboat and go along the island's southwestern shores to find your own cove and pebbly beach.  Dubrovnik Undoubtedly beautiful and worth the effort – up to a point.  Today Dubrovnik is the most prosperous, elegant and expensive city in Croatia. In many ways it still feels like a city state, isolated from the rest of the nation by geography and history. It's become such a tourism magnet that there's even talk of having to limit visitor numbers in the car-free old town – the main thoroughfares can get impossibly crowded, especially when multiple cruise ships disgorge people at the same time. The Old Town – everybody goes for the walk along the city walls – 1.9km around the city. And it's beautiful. No visit to Dubrovnik would be complete without a walk around the spectacular city walls, the finest in the world and the city's main claim to fame. From the top, the view over the old town and the shimmering Adriatic is sublime. You can get a good handle on the extent of the shelling damage in the 1990s by gazing over the rooftops: those sporting bright new terracotta suffered damage and had to be replaced. Staying I would strongly recommend Lapad – away from the bustle of the old town, but easily reached – there's a terrific bus system in Dubrovnik.  Eating The Old Town isn't the place to eat; go to Lapad Restaurant Levanat – on the north side of Lapad Bay, is the best spot we ate in during the whole trip – amazing Mediterranean cuisine with stunning views of the bay. Best sunsets in Europe, I reckon! To get there, walk the length of the pedestrianized Setaliste Kralja Zvonimira, which is itself lined with bars and restaurants and…just keep going for about 1km along the coastline path.  Game of Thrones Dubrovnik is like a fantasy world for most people, but fans of Game of Thrones have more reason to indulge in flights of fancy than most, as a large chunk of the immensely popular TV series was filmed here. While Split and Šibenik were also used as locations, Dubrovnik has featured the most prominently, standing in for the cities of King's Landing and Qarth. If you fancy taking your own Walk of Shame through the streets of Westeros, here are some key spots: Fort St Lawrence King's Landing's famous Red Keep. Cersei farewelled her daughter Myrcella from the little harbour beneath it. City Walls Tyrion Lannister commanded the defense of King's Landing from the seaward-facing walls during the Battle of the Blackwater; Minčeta Tower The exterior of Qarth's House of Undying; Rector's Palace The atrium featured as the palace of the Spice King of Qarth - they didn't even bother moving the statue!; Sv Dominika street The street and staircase outside the Dominican Monastery were used for various King's Landing market scenes. Uz Jezuite The stairs connecting the Jesuit church to Gundulić Square were the starting point for Cersei Lannister's memorable naked penitential walk. The walk continued down Stradun. Gradac Park The site of the Purple Wedding feast, where King Joffrey finally got his comeuppance. Ethnographic Museum Littlefinger's brothel; Lokrum The reception for Daenerys in Qarth was held in the monastery cloister; Trsteno Arboretum The Red Keep gardens, where the Tyrell's chatted and plotted endlessly during seasons three and four. Korčula Town (on the island of the same name) is a stunner. Ringed by imposing defences, this coastal citadel is dripping with history, with marble streets rich in Renaissance and Gothic architecture. Its fascinating fishbone layout was cleverly designed for the comfort and safety of its inhabitants: western streets were built straight in order to open the city to the refreshing summer maestral (strong, steady westerly wind), while the eastern streets were curved to minimise the force of the winter bura (cold, northeasterly wind). The town cradles a harbour, overlooked by round defensive towers and a compact cluster of red-roofed houses. There are rustling palms all around and several beaches are an easy walk away. Mljet Forest-shrouded Mljet is one of the most seductive of all the Adriatic islands. The establishment of a national park in 1960 at its western end put the island on the tourist map, but Mljet is anything but overrun. Visitors are almost entirely drawn to the tourist enclave around Pomena. The remainder of the island retains the unspoilt air of tranquillity that, according to legend, captivated Odysseus for seven years. Ston Flanking the isthmus that connects the Pelješac Peninsula with the mainland, Ston and Mali ('little') Ston – are famous for three things: salt, oysters and the remarkable 5.5km defensive wall that links them. The first two have been harvested here since Roman times. The name Ston derives from its Latin name Stagnum, a reference to the marshy nature of the land, which was put to use for the production of salt. The economic importance of this industry to the Republic of Ragusa (Dubrovnik) led, in 1333, to the construction of one of the longest fortifications in Europe, stretching clear across the isthmus. Within its walls, Ston has an atmospheric medieval town centre with sunny, car-free streets. Mali Ston is a gastronomic destination in its own right, famed for the mussels and large flat oysters that thrive in the narrow channel separating the peninsula from the mainland.

Tyrion tours the wildfire production lines in the Guildhall of the Alchemists. He welcomes Cleos Frey to King's Landing and reads Robb Stark's demands. He meets with Cersei who is furious that Tyrion plans to sell off Myrcella to Dorne in return for their cooperation in the war. Simon and Mackelly weigh the strategies. Chapter Review: Tyrion Lannister meets with the pyromancer Hallyne in the Guildhall of the Alchemists. They have 7,000 pots of wildfire ready to be used in the defense of King's Landing. Tyrion is very uneasy - this substance burns on water and does unspeakable damage to all that it touches. He asks for some empty pots to be used in training the defenders. Bronn informs Tyrion of two urgent summons. The Hand decides to visit Jacelyn Bywater first. Tyrion's cousin Cleos Frey has arrived from his captivity in Riverrun. Robb Stark's demands are unacceptable, but Tyrion is pleased that he can stretch out the negotiations. He forbids anyone from Cleos' crew from entering King's Landing. He doesn't want word of the starvation to reach the King in the North. En route to his second urgent visit (with Cersei) he hears a preacher decrying the royals and the church. He's a bit offended by being referred to as a “demon monkey.”His sister Cersei is furious to have been kept waiting and incandescent that Tyrion should try to ship Myrcella to Dorne without consulting her. He tries to placate and feels like he's made progress. Compelling amongst his arguments is that the princess may well be considerably safer in Sunspear than she is in the capital. We also worship King Bread, cook a septon for dinner, and judge the Rainbow Guards' on their tacky outfits. Character perspectives in this episode: Daenerys, Tyrion, and Davos... “ I assume you’re here to bend the knee?” Daenerys asks Jon Snow expectantly. Jon Snow replies “I am not.” Season 7 conclusion begins in suspense as Jon Snow and Ser Davos arrive at Dragonstone to meet with Daenerys Targaryen. Upon their arrival, Varys and Melisandre have a conversation about each other’s future in Westeros. “Oh I will return dear spider. One last time. I have to die in this strange country just like you.” Melisandre tells Varys knowingly. Jon and Daenerys converse for the first time and Jon tells her and Tyrion about the army of the dead. They argue and trade facts about history and loyalties with neither backing down. “So many men have tried to kill me, I don't remember all their names. I have been sold like a broodmare. I've been chained and betrayed, raped and defiled. Do you know what kept me standing through all those years in exile? Faith. Not in any gods. Not in myths and legends. In myself. In Daenerys Targaryen.” Daenerys boasts to Jon. Varys interrupts this interaction with grave news about the Greyjoys and the Sand Snakes. At King’s Landing Euron Greyjoy brings Cersei the priceless gift he promised. Euron and Jaime have a less than friendly interaction while Cersei gets her revenge for Myrcella’s death. Cersei meets with Tycho Nestoris from the Iron Bank of Bravos and they discuss the Lannister. Back at Dragonstone Tyrion and Jon talk of the White Walkers with Jon asking Tyrion if he believes him. “I trust the eyes of an honest man more than I trust what everyone knows.” Tyrion says in response. Jon asks Daenerys to allow him to mine the dragonglass. While in Winterfell, Sansa is growing into her own and making executive decisions as the Lady of Winterfell. Meera brings Bran to Winterfell and Sansa and Bran see each other for the first time since Season 1. Bran tries to describe to Sansa the role of the Three-Eyed Raven in unsettling fashion. In the Citadel, Jorah Mormont has been cured of Grayscale and is ready to return to his Queen. Meanwhile, the Unsullied take Casterly Rock only to find out they were tricked. High Garden falls to Jaime and the Lannister army, Olenna drinks the poison and gives Jaime a confession. Jaime leads his army back to King’s Landing with all of High Gardens’s gold and harvest crops. Meanwhile, Cersei gets an interesting proposition from Tycho. In Winterfell, Petyr Baelish approaches Bran where he finds that even with all of his wits, he can’t fool someone who literally knows everything. Arya arrives in Winterfell for the first time since Season 1 and reunites with her sister and brother, and Bran gives Arya an important gift. Back at Dragonstone, Jon shows Daenerys the dragonglass and some interesting hieroglyphics that provide evidence to the existence of the Night King. Daenerys learns of latest failure at Casterly Rock and is ready to burn it all down. Before she makes a decision, she asks Jon his advice to which he tells her “If you use them to melt castles and burn cities, you’re not different. You’re just more of the same.” In Winterfell, Arya and Brienne have an epic spar while at Dragonstone, and Jon and Theon see each other for the first time since Jon left for the Night’s Watch. Randyll Tarly informs Jaime and Bronn that all of the gold is safely secured in King’s Landing, but that relief is short lived as Daenerys arrives to show them who the real Queen is. Upon her return to Dragonstone, an old knight pledges himself to her once more, and Tyrion devises a plan to make Cersei believe in the threat to the North. In Winterfell, Sansa is tempted by The Northern houses. Tyrion meets with Jaime to convince him to have Cersei agree to armistice, and Ser Davos collects an old friend from Flea Bottom. In the Citadel, Gilly comes across perhaps the most important discovery in Maester Maynards’ records, while Arya in Winterfell makes a shocking discovery of her own. At The Wall, the A-Team of Westeros go beyond to bring back a wight. After dangerous encounters with creatures of the dead, Jon and company catch a wight only to be surrounded by the Night King and his army. Is this the end for them? Or will someone come to save the day? If they do survive, will Cersei have a change of heart when presented the proof or was it all for naught? The Night King adds the most dangerous ally to his army, while in Winterfell, the Stark sisters rid themselves of a dangerous ally of their own. Bran and Sam together fit the final pieces together about Jon’s true lineage, while two relatives are rocking the boat. Meanwhile unbeknownst to anyone except the men holding The Wall at Eastwatch By The Sea, Winter is officially coming to Westeros. Take a dive with the Riddikulus Crew into the conclusion of Season 7 in our 3 and ½ hour special as things begin to come full circle, while other questions are raised. Where does Jon Snow go from here? In the words of Bran Stark “He’s never been a bastard, he’s the heir to the Iron Throne.”

Arya manages to get herself lost in the dungeons of the Red Keep. But in the process, she finds information that would be invaluable to her father. Unfortunately, when she tries to tell Ned what she's learned, she makes a mess of it all. Thankfully, we're here to put the pieces together and weave a more complete story from the details. Chapter Review: Arya Stark is catching cats. While in the process, she is stumbled upon by princess Myrcella, prince Tommen, and their entourage. When the gold cloaks in her group try to apprehend her, Arya runs. By the time she stops, she's managed to get herself lost deep in the dungeons under the Red Keep. She first runs into three giant dragon skulls, before coming across two men talking while walking through the dungeons. The pair is Lord Varys and Illyrio Mopatis. They are discussing her father Ned getting dangerously close to discovering a secret. There is also mention of having killed one Hand of the King, so why not kill another? Along with that, there is talk of a plot that sounds a lot like it involves getting a Targaryen back on the Iron Throne. When Arya gets back to the Tower of the Hand, she tries to tell Ned what she knows, but it sounds more like the fantasy talk of a child than anything else. Yoren from the Night's Watch arrives to talk with Ned, and Arya is sent to bed worrying about her father's safety. Characters/Places/Names/Events: Lord Varys - Eunuch and Master of Whispers. Illyrio Mopatis - Wealthy magister from the Free City of Pentos. Eddard "Ned" Stark - Hand of the King, Lord of Winterfell, king Robert's closest friend. Gendry - King Robert Baratheon's bastard son and apprentice blacksmith. Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish - Master of Coin, member of the Small Council. Daenerys Targaryen - Khaleesi to a Dothraki khalasar and younger sister to Viserys. Viserys Targaryen - Deposed heir to the Iron Throne. Lysa Arryn - Cat's younger sister. Widow of Jon Arryn. We get to properly meet Arya Stark. Horse-faced, blacksmith-handed scourge of Winterfell septas and straight hems. She's not great at needlework, singing, being regal, or pretty much anything expected of a lady. But we love her not in spite of it, but because of it. Sansa is a lot more lady like, and a lot less likeable. Jon's a good old soul. Prince Joffrey might be a perfect match for Sansa, but if he's going to be a wise and just king, he might want to get henchmen other than Sandor Clegane. In this episode, we take a look at our growing cast of characters, find out why Arya named her wolf Nymeria, and debate why the Targaryens spent six generations never having watched a sunset and wondered what's in that direction. Chapter Review: Arya sits through her needlework class with septa Mordaine, along with her sister Sansa, princess Myrcella, and two other girls from Winterfell. Arya struggles with the work and has no interest. After an argument with Sansa and her friends and a bad review from Mordaine, she flees the room in tears. She and her wolf Nymeria find Jon and Ghost watching the other boys sparing in the yard. He can't participate because he's not true-born. The pair watch as Joffrey goads Robb into losing his temper, over dueling with live steel. Characters/Places/Names/Events:  Ser Rodrik Cassel - Master of Arms at Winterfell. Takes no nonsense and rebukes lordlings and princes alike. Sandor Clegane - AKA The Hound. Bodyguard and mildly psychotic spiritual advisor to Prince Joffrey, the seven preserve us all. Septa Mordane - Teacher and spiritual advisor to the daughters of Winterfell. A bit gullible and useless. Nymeria - Arya's direwolf. Named for fabled warrior princess of yore. Support the podcast. Buy a bit of merch from our store. In this episode, we discuss the feast to welcome the royal family to Winterfell, as seen through Jon's eyes. We also debate whether Ned is blind to the signs and symbols we've all seen so far or seeing them but doing what he needs to do despite them. Plus, we discover who the mysterious Kingslayer is! Chapter Review:Despite being the son of Eddard Stark, Lord of Winterfell, Jon Snow finds himself relegated to a table well out of sight of royal eyes at the welcoming feast for the royal family. Jon watches the precession of lords and ladies that include the rest of his family. He gets his first glimpse of the legendary King Robert Baratheon, Demon of the Trident, who turns out to be a disappointment. He is impressed with Ser Jamie Lannister, the twin brother to Queen Cersei. Alongside Jamie in the procession is Jamie's younger brother Tyrion Lannister, the dwarf known as “the imp.” During the feast, Jon's uncle Benjen Stark stop by to see him. Jon asks Benjen to take him back to Castle Black when Benjen returns, so Jon can join the Night's Watch. His uncle suggests he tastes more than 14 years of life before making that decision, as there is no going back. Jon gets upset and storms out of the hall. Outside, he meets Tyrion, who gives him some advice about being different from one's family. Characters, places, and events: King Robert Baratheon - Once a fierce imposing legendary figure. Now a fat shadow of his former self.Queen Cersei Lannister - Daughter of Tywin Lannister, the Lord of Casterly Rock and Warden of the West. The Cast Beyond the Wall: A House of the Dragon Podcast

After nearly a year of waiting, Game of Thrones has returned to kick off season 6 with a nice bit of set up and a couple of surprising twists in The Red Woman. The Cast Beyond the Wall returns with your guide to all of the biggest moments of the episode followed by some exciting fan theories and analysis looking at what this episode is all about. The Cast's hosts Caleb Masters, Austin Lucari, and Daniel Stull are joined by Dalton Stuart of The GoodTrash Genrecast and The People's History of Film to travel from the the water gardens of Dorne all the way to the furthest reaches of Mereen in this week's recap. The Red Woman serves more or less as a pretty standard Game of Throne premiere by checking in with most of the major players while also planting a few seeds for the bigger things yet to come. Showrunners DB. Weiss and David Benioff open with a sequence at the wall that removes any doubt the audience had. Jon Snow is dead. For now. Further south, Jaime and Cersei are reunited to mourn the loss of their daughter Myrcella at the hands of Ellaria Sand. Lena Headey steals the spotlight as the episode's MVP in one of the character's most vulnerable scenes to date. To cap off the episode, our hosts talk about how this season seems to be pushing the ladies of Westeros to the forefront and the more optimistic tone when compared to the somewhat dour downtrodden tone of season 5.   The Red Woman Time Stamps Guest Introduction - 1:50 Review - 3:25 Tyrion and Varys in Mereen - 8:54 Arya in Braavos -24:04 Dorne - 26:17 Lannisters in King's Landing - 32:58 Winterfell - 39:11 Davos and Melissandre At The Wall - 58:01 Closing Analysis - 1:16:56   Like what you hear? Gary and Nicole discuss the latest Game of Thrones episode "The Dance of Dragons". We go over our likes and dislikes, the WTF moments...and the "I saw that coming" moments. Prince Doran agreeing to let Myrcella and Trystane go back to Kings Landing with Jaime came as a surprise. We all knew Arya was not ready to be no one, and now that we see how sick Meryn Trant is, we probably dont want her to become no one just yet. We were split on Stannis, be both agreed he is a pathetic, worthless, nothing of a human being, but one one of us were surprised that he killed his own daughter, while the other was not. The biggest moment of the episode came at the end, watching Daenerys Targaryen ride her dragon out of the Great Games Pit like a boss. Her and Tyrion continue to inspire and amaze us. Not to mention, a series that shows so many woman in helpless and horirble situations, it was good to see one who is taking charge of things.    We only have one episode left, and we are sure it will go out with a bang as it always does. Make sure you send your feeback, questions and comments to watchthethrone@theverdictsin.com. We appreicate you guys listening to us as well. We know there are 50 other GoT podcast out there, all of which have been doing it much longer than us, and we appreciate everyone of you for listening.  Thank you

The Cast Beyond the Wall: A House of the Dragon Podcast

It's been a slow burn so far in this season of Game of Thrones, but the latest episode "The Gift" finally delivers on a few of the promises laid down over the last few episodes.  The Cast Beyond the Wall is here to talk about some of the most anticipated moments of the entire series including Tyrion's meeting with Daenerys and Cersei's swift self-imposed downfall. Did they live up to the five seasons worth of build up? The Lannisters weren't the only family getting some great material this week. Further north, Stannis is faced with the decision of whether or not to sacrifice his daughter to ensure he defeats the Bolton's in battle. House Baratheon has made some pretty impressive strides in redeeming Stannis this year, but it seems as if he's faced with a choice that could define the legacy of his character.  Dorne continues to be one of the most poorly executed storylines in the history of the show. Between Jamie's failure to win over Myrcella and Bronn's half baked piece of fan service in the jail cell, it's not shaping up to be everything Oberyn promised us. Tune in to hear our in-depth thoughts on each scene of The Gift. Enjoy the show! Subscribe on iTunes Follow us on Facebook Don't miss all of the latest Game of Thrones updates at We Got This Covered
