Tall Tales is out and we've got tons to say about it! We go track by track and discuss our early thoughts. Where does this fall amongst Thom's solo work? How did Thom and Mark Pritchard work remotely to create such a fascinating electronic-ish album? Which songs are highlights and which song is so divisive that we both have very differing opinions on it? We also got to see the accompanying film on the big screen and we discuss the surreal and captivating imagery made by artist Jonathan Zawada. In addition, we have a substantial newspile with items like Radiohead songs being performed sumptuously by a full orchestra in the UK, the many reviews of Hamlet Hail to the Thief, and a frustrating statement from Jonny regarding his cancelled shows with Dudu Tassa.

Côté anniversaires, Ian Dury est célébré avec le mordant "Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick". Sur le front des projets parallèles, Thom Yorke collabore avec Mark Pritchard pour "Tall Tales", dont on découvre "This Conversation Is Missing Your Voice". Could a semi-divine king's body survive five millennia beneath Iraq's sands? What if Gilgamesh wasn't myth but biological fact—a being whose remains would shatter our understanding of human evolution? The epic describes immortality techniques lost to time. Still, the deeper question remains: if such a chamber exists, what would its discovery reveal about our origins—and who might already possess these secrets? If you are having a mental health crisis and need immediate help please go to https://troubledminds.org/help/ and call somebody right now. It's the first episode of 2024 and PRAISING KANE is packed with wild Carol Kane content, starting with the hour long episode of Shelley Duvall's TALL TALES & LEGENDS adapting the famous poem "Casey at the Bat".. sort of! With Elliott Gould, Howard Cosell, Bob Uecker, Bill Macy and CAROL KANE! It's plenty odd. Then we look at an episode of the 80s comedy crime series CRAZY LIKE A FOX /w Jack Warden and John Rubinstein, featuring Carol Kane guesting as a beleaguered secretary. Then it's time for the main event, the Penny Marshall directed comedy-thriller JUMPIN JACK FLASH starring Whoopi Goldberg and a slew of famous faces in supporting roles- including Carol Kane! It's a Liam O'Donnell childhood favorite, but does it hold up? Let's find out! The post Episode 255 – Praising Kane – Jumpin Jack Flash (1986) first appeared on Cinema Smorgasbord.

21: MAGA Mishaps, Hot Coffee, Fat Alvin Bragg's Outrages, Jussie's & Whoopi's Tall Tales, & Good Riddance to EllenWelcome to episode twenty-one of David & Stu… Unhinged! As always, we'd like to thank Clara Wang for creating the fantastic artwork for this podcast. Here is what is on deck for this week's milestone episode.1) Matt Gaetz's sudden withdrawal as a nominee for the Attorney General and how that disastrous choice doesn't bode well for the reincarnation of Trump;2) Incidents involving spilling hot coffee at restaurants and airplanes that spurred on a cottage industry of personal injury lawsuits, including one where a man's privates were scalded; 3) The fatal stabbings that occurred in Manhattan this week by a mentally ill man with a lengthy criminal record and the outrageousness of fat Alvin Bragg's decision to vigorously prosecute Daniel Penny for defending subway riders who were terrorized by another mentally ill and violent homeless man who the progressives have let loose on the NYC streets;4) The decision to overturn Jussie Smolett's guilty verdict for his hate crime hoax and Whoopi Goldberg's false claim that Holtermann's Bakery refused to take her pastry order because of her politics.5) A fond farewell to Ellen DeGeneres, who fled America due to Trump's election, and the other Hollywood has-beens like hamster-loving Richard Gere. This is it! The last of the bonus episodes and the last of "Season One." 3 years later, what a trip. To round out these bonuses I've got a great guest to talk about the art of editing podcasts. Jason Stewart (aka DJ Them Jeans) is the co-host and editor of the podcast How Long Gone, which, along with co-host Chris Black, has released three hour-long episodes a week for the last four years, covering all things culture, fashion and entertainment. Prior to How Long Gone he was also the host & editor of two other podcasts, Tall Tales and The Stew, so he's really a podcast editing veteran. How Long Gone has risen to the top of the podcast charts because of the funny fast-paced conversations of Jason & Chris and their guests, and a lot of that has to do with Jason's editing style which is brisk, but not noticeable. The result is 700+ episodes of sharp-witted dialogue that makes the listener wish that they were also in the conversation. The conversations don't drag on, they whiz by, and some of my favorite parts are the songs he chooses to end each episode on as well as where and how he places their ad reads, which we get into a little bit in this episode (cause that's all editing, baby!) Thanks again, everyone, for listening and supporting this podcast. It's been a really great experience and I'm looking forward to Season Two! --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/cuttingclass/support
Kamala Harris' staff reveals their biggest challenges, notably the little time they had to sell their candidate to America. Plus, Hunter Biden is pardoned by his father—an act he said he'd never commit, then again, no one thought Hunter would commit many of the acts he committed either. And we're joined by former Congressman Eric Fingerhut, now CEO of the Jewish Federations of America, to discuss what an organization like his does when over a third of Senate Democrats vote to strip Israel of military support. The legend dates back to the Middle Ages. The earliest references describe a piper, dressed in multicoloured ("pied") clothing, who was a rat catcher hired by the town to lure rats away[1] with his magic pipe. When the citizens refused to pay for this service as promised, he retaliated by using his instrument's magical power on their children, leading them away as he had the rats. This version of the story spread as folklore and has appeared in the writings of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, the Brothers Grimm, and Robert Browning, among others. The phrase "pied piper" has become a metaphor for a person who attracts a following through charisma or false promises.[2]
