Parents who raised concerns about what they say is a dangerous school bus stop near Nelson have been told most of their children dont qualify for the free ride. Some students have to cross the busy 100km/h state highway 60 near Mapua to get to the bus, something parents believe is an accident waiting to happen. They asked for the Ministry of Education to move the stop one kilometre up the road, to a safer area for kids taking the bus to Waimea and Garin colleges in Richmond. Since then one of the schools has told families the Ministry is looking at taking most of the students off the free school bus service because they dont actually qualify for it. Sarah Taylor, a mum of two who's been leading the charge to change the bus route, spoke to Lisa Owen.

After personal experience with severe pregnancy complications and requiring a later abortion among a labyrinth of state abortion bans, Erika Christensen and Garin Marschall co-founded Patient Forward, a national strategy and advocacy organization. Erika and Garin sit down with us to talk about why people need abortions later in pregnancy, what barriers exist to accessing that care, and why government interference in pregnancy outcomes is overwhelmingly unpopular.  Further into pregnancy, the cost of care goes up, the number of providers goes down, and more and more restrictions go into effect. People require abortions later in pregnancy for a host of reasons, but often they are needed after 1) they learn that they are pregnant later in gestation or learn new information about the pregnancy, or; 2) they know care is needed earlier in pregnancy but are delayed by TRAP laws, abortion bans, economic reasons, and more. After Garin moved to Boulder, he and Goering became friends, and one day, they played music together on Garin's couch. Garin had just started learning the accordion and Goering brought his saxophone. After the two started busking together on Pearl Street, Goering invited Garin to a jam session with members of a previous band of Goering's that had just ended, and the five people who performed in the jam together became the first lineup of The Alcapones.The lineup currently consists of Garin on guitar, Goering on alto saxophone, Jordan Lee Daniels on keyboard, Curly Collins on bass guitar, Nick Dolan on drums, Darin Jones on tenor sax, and Les Miller on trumpet.Gasoline Lollipops (often shortened to Gas Pops) is a title that even frontman Clay Rose knows is bizarre. During an LSD trip in his high school years, he and his friends started coming up with the most insane band names they could, and his ex-girlfriend suggested that name. He kept it in the back of his mind, knowing he wanted to use it for a band, and now, that name has a home with this group of musicians.Gas Pops originally started as a duo, consisting of Rose and drummer Jonny Mouser. The lineup has evolved constantly since then, with members even including Gregory Alan Isakov and his fiddle player Jeb Bows. The current lineup consists of Rose on acoustic guitar and vocals, Kevin Matthews on drums, Scott Coulter on keys, Don Ambory on electric guitar, and “Bad” Brad Morse on upright bass. While initially focusing on country-punk (or cowpunk) to lean more into the jarring band name, the band now experiments in multiple styles, with a general blanket of roots and roots-inspired music and more specific categories of ballads, soul, blues, country, and psychedelic and punk rock. Moves have been made by the Chief of Navy to shut down speculation about the loss of the Manawanui. The $100 million naval vessel was surveying the area off Samoa's coast on Saturday, when it hit a reef and sank the following day. Most of the 75 rescued crew members have returned to New Zealand, with the final few flying back today. Divers are heading out to the site today to assess the depth, the condition of the ship, and any presence of oil. Rear Admiral Garin Golding told Mike Hosking a Court of Inquiry's being set up to understand the facts, and speculation is unhelpful. He says they will do a number of interviews to get to the bottom of what went on, and in time, exactly what happened will be released. The rendezvous is the start of a long journey across Dorne. At the end of the journey, Arianne plans to crown Myrcella as Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. While they wait, her friend Garin shares news of the sighting of Arianne's brother Quentyn Martell in Planky Town seeking passage across the Narrow Sea. This only affirms Arianne's suspicions that Quentyn seeks the aid of the Golden Company to steal Arianne's birthright. With the new queen of the Seven Kingdoms on her side, and the support of the vast majority of the Dornish, Arianne will be sure to foil any of her brother's plans.When Ser Arys and Princess Myrcella arrive, Aryanne explains to Myrcella that Myrcella is the rightful queen and that Tommen has fallen in with bad advisors who have robbed her of her birthright. A confused Myrcella decides not to push the issue. The group leave for the Greenblood. Garin's family will meet them and take them up the river toward their destination.After a long, hot trip they arrive at the meeting point and find the boat where it should be. With LeTour entering its final week, we revisit one of our first episodes, looking at the early years of the Tour De France. The early years of the Tour De France were a hot mess, with a spiked bottle of lemonade, itching powder put in cyclists' shorts, riders taking rides in cars and trains, attempted murder and pitched battles between cyclists and spectators. Beginning in 1903 as a marketing exercise to boost the circulation of the newspaper L'Auto, the first was won by Maurice-François Garin, who knocked an opponent off their bike, and then jumped on the wheels so they couldn't ride it anymore. The second Tour would result in the top four finishers all being disqualified, with the reasons never made public.
