Daenerys is more swayed than previously. After a discussion with Ser Barristan, she visits Rhaegel and Viserion who are chained up for Drogon's crimes. He's been murdered by the Sons of the Harpy, a group fighting a resistance war against her rule of Meereen. She orders that he be granted honorable funeral rites and that a hefty bounty is offered for information on the Sons of the Harpy.She spends the day hearing petitioners. Nobles want recompense for the losses that her rules has brought them, small folk have their own grievances. The fall of Meereen was accompanied by an orgy of lawlessness to which she has no choice but to turn a blind eye - she cannot execute or maim everyone in the city.The last petitioner bears the worst news. The dragons have grown increasingly wild and willful and farmer after farmer comes to demand the cost of their lost sheep. But the last one brings the charred bones of a human child. He learns that Ryman Frey is dead and that Cersei is in trouble. Neither concern him much, as he ignores Cersei's plea for help. Simon and Mackelly set their quills down.Chapter Review:Jaime Lannister discovers that during the change of hands of Riverrun Brynden Blackfish Tully has gone missing. A well-placed threat to Edmure Tully reveals the truth. The Blackfish swam away in the night. All search parties have come up empty to this point. He meets with Sybell and Jeyne Westerling. Jeyne is still in mourning over the death of her husband King Robb and isn't afraid to let Jaime see it. On the other hand, Sybell speaks of her role in Robb's death and preventing Jeyne from getting pregnant. She wants good marriages for her children in return, as promised by Tywin. Jaime agrees, but also tells her to stay out of his way until she leaves for the west.He crosses the Tumblestone and meets with Edwyn Frey and Walder Rivers. They inform him that Edwyn's father Ryman was hanged on his way back to the Twins. Edwyn thinks his brother Black Walder is responsible. Jaime isn't broken up about it and notices Edwyn's eyes are dry too.One night he dreams of his mother. She says Tywin wanted him to be a great knight and Cersei a queen. Jaime says they both met those goals, but his mother only sheds a tear. Jaime wakes to snow falling on Riverrun. With it, the hope for one more harvest is gone. However, when Cersei visits the High Septon she discovers that she might've cooked her own goose as well. Mackelly and Simon take the temperature of the situation.Chapter Review:Queen Cersei Lannister sits in the throne room surrounded by a full court of spectators. She baits the septa representing the High Septon into revealing the charges against Queen Margaery Tyrell and her cousins. They are serious and salacious. The crowd buzzes like a bee hive. Later, Cersei and Taena Merryweather visit the Great Sept of Baelor to meet with the Tyrell girls.Margaery is confused and pleads with Cersei to take her and her cousins back to the Red Keep. Cersei informs Margaery of the charges against the Tyrells and that a trial is impending. She explains that Margaery can request a trial by combat, but her champion must be of the Kingsguard. Margaery becomes furious with Cersei and kicks her out of her cell.Cersei visits the High Septon and is happy that they agree that the Faith should conduct the Tyrell trials. She wants to take Ser Osney Kettleblack back to the Red Keep but the High Septon forbids it. He takes her to Osney. She finds the knight strung up and tortured. Osney admits he killed the previous High Septon on Cersei's command. Cersei is imprisoned and will face a trial herself. Mackelly and Simon raise an eyebrow.Chapter Review:After the ambush on the Greenblood, Princess Arianne Martell is taken to a tower cell atop the Spear Tower of Sunspear. Her servants are sworn to silence, despite her demands and pleas. She learns of the fate of her co-conspirators. They were taken to a prison for hardened criminals. However, news of Myrcella and Darkstar is withheld. She sheds tears over the death of Ser Arys Oakheart.As the days drag on, she convinces her servant Cedra to smuggle a message out for her. However, Cedra never returns. After more days and nights isolated in her chamber, her father finally sends for her. Her plans to beg and plead for his mercy evaporate upon seeing him. He tells her Darkstar is still the wind and that Myrcella will survive but will be disfigured, having lost an ear from his attack. Arianne says she did it because his passivity shames all of Dorne. She adds that she knows he plans to replace her with her brother Quentyn, she read it in a letter years ago. Doran admits it's true, he did mean for Quentyn to succeed him in Sunspear, but only because he had bigger plans for Arianne. She was secretly promised to a man. However, that man died from a pot of molten gold, so she will rule Dorne. It is Quentyn who has the tough road now. The older man is resigned to Edmure's death, accuses Jaime of oathbreaking and cowardice, and won't believe Jaime's offer of pardons for all within.Jaime calls a war council that is closer to a war. All parties bring their high-horses and nobody budges an inch. The enmity within the besiegers camp is greater than that between the besiegers and the besieged.He gives up, dismisses Ryman Frey back to the Twins for his incompetence and elevates Ryman's son Edwyn to head the Frey contingent. He frees Edmure from his torment and brings him back to be bathed and fed. The kindness comes with an offer and a threat. Edmure will be returned to Riverrun. If he then surrenders the castle the original offer remains - all will be spared. But if he doesn't, everyone inside will die and Edmure's soon-to-be-born baby will be trebucheted over the walls. She delights in sharing this news with Margaery - who is stricken, but remains hopeful. Cersei dreams of her childhood run-in with Maggy the Frog and the details of the woman's terrifying prophecy. Simon and Mackelly probably should have seen this coming.Chapter Review:Queen Cersei Lannister learns from Aurane Waters that Dragonstone has fallen but that Loras led the assault to his doom. He was grievously wounded multiple times and lies unconscious beyond the skill of any maester to heal. Cersei is delighted. She carefully hides this as she shares the news with Margaery. The young queen is devastated, but latches on to the fact that Loras still lives and seems determined to seek to revive him.More non-Tyrion dwarf's heads are placed before her. The High Septon sends an emissary rather than himself to Cersei's annoyance. The faith is trying to shut down the brothels on the Street of Silk also to Cersei's, and every sailor's, annoyance. Grand Maester Pycelle reports that Lord Gyles Rosby seems to be dying. She dreams of her meeting with Maggy the Frog, the details of whose prophecy continue to come true (she did marry the king, she did become queen), which wouldn't be a problem but the prophecy turns a lot darker after that: she'll be replaced by a younger more beautiful queen, her three children will die, and the valonqar will choke the life from Cersei. Simon and Mackelly weigh up the impact.Chapter Review:Jaime Lannister arrives at Riverrun and meets with his cousin Daven Lannister, the new Warden of the West. They have a good rapport. The younger man is modest about his new-found honors, and thinks that his father's cousin Kevan should have been made Warden of the West. Jaime doesn't disagree. Devan has had it with the Freys. Their cruelty and belligerence are doing nothing to help end this siege.Jaime is concerned that so few Riverlands houses are represented. They may have bent the knee but their hearts are clearly not in it. He intends to parley with Brynden Blackfish Tully, who holds Riverrun but first meets with his Aunt Genna and her husband Emmon Frey, to whom Riverrun is promised.Emmon whines about the damage to his new castle. Genna catches up on family news before concluding they should have been given Darry instead. She explains her loyalty to her big brother Tywin, and while expressing her fondness for Jaime, confesses that Tyrion was the child most like his father. She has an unexpected drop-in by Falyse, whose husband has been killed by Bronn and also confessed Cersei's plot. Qyburn is given instructions that Falyse should never see the light of day again. Finally, she tries to take Taena roughly, as Robert once did with Cersei, but she can't get into it. Simon and Mackelly shudder at Falyse's fate.Chapter Review:Queen Cersei Lannister sits in the shadow of the Iron Throne, as Queen Margaery Tyrell implores Cersei to take immediate action against the Iron Born, who have taken the Shield Islands. Cersei thinks it's a plot by Stannis Baratheon to distract the Tyrell force from their siege at Storm's End. She suggests the Tyrells deal with their own issue with what resources they have available. When Dragonstone falls, the Redwyne fleet can then sail home and defend the Reach. Ser Loras Tyrell offers to lead an assault on Dragonstone, to expedite a resolution. Cersei can't believe her good luck. No matter the outcome of this assault, Cersei stands to come out a winner.Falyse Stokeworth comes back to King's Landing with bad news. At long last, you High Heretics have put together their thoughts and feelings about the finale of House of the Dragon Season 2. But they are not alone. Joining them for the first time as a guest and potentially not the last because she might become the third member of the Silent Sisters, is Dr. Kavita Mudon Finn. A third member!? Yes! Blue_Lemons and LittleWolfBird have decided that adding a third person to the writing team - a Ghostwriter if you will - will probably help ease along the hardest part of podcasting. That is, scripting. But not to keep them fully in the shadows, our Ghostwriter will co-host whenever they want to. And so we're trialing Dr. Kavita and she us. So far it's off to a good start, learning new words like "Plantagenot" or how to defend fanfiction by invoking the Doctrine of Varient Texts. We three Heretics dive into Alicent's arc this season and how her actions in the finale make sense. Dr. Kavita poses an addendum to the Maester's Conspiracy Theory and asks the big questions about the King's Guard while LittleWolfBird gets hung up on on travel times again. We dive into Helaena and her prophecies once again and whether or not Daemon recognized her as his niece...and that's about as in depth into Daemon's vision as we get. Rhaenyra's rise as a messaionic figure has been a long time coming and the events of this season continue to cement in her mind that she is making the right decisions, thus propelling her to do more and go bigger. What ever could that lead to?! And, as we seem to be want to do this season, we dive again into a discussion about Class Warfare and the dynamics between characters that will inevitibly lead to literal class war. She squashes tiny rebellions by her little king, cheers the death of a foe, plots the downfall of Margaery Tyrell and Bronn, spurns the Iron Bank, and so much more. Simon and Mackelly hope she knows what she's doing.Chapter Review:Little King Tommen Baratheon wants to be more involved, he is king after all. Queen Cersei Lannister isn't having it. It's her turn to shine, and Margaery Tyrell's ideas in her son's head aren't going to stop her. Cersei has a long day filled with meetings. While meeting with the merchant's guild, Grand Maester Pycelle interrupts to bring news that Lord Wyman Manderly has beheaded the Onion Knight. Cersei is thrilled and promises to return Wyman's heir. She also meets with an envoy from the Iron Bank. They want their payments but Cersei doesn't budge. Afterward, she talks with Ser Osmund Kettleblack about his brother Osney's attempts at bedding Margaery. They've been stalled by the constant presence of others around the younger queen. Cersei assures that she'll provide the opportunity for him to make his move. She then squashes the merriment around Tommen's jousting success.Bath time provides no relief when Jaime and Tommen burst in. Tommen wants to train under Loras Tyrell and Cersei shoots it down. Jaime thinks she's either drunk or stupid. When he leaves she decides she must be rid of him soon. She dines with Falyse and Balman Byrch. She masterfully plays the worried mother and convinces Balman to kill Bronn before he helps Tyrion kill Tommen. After dinner she reminisces over her love for Rhaegar Targaryen and the hurt of being spurned as his betrothed. She never forgave Robert for killing him because lions don't forgive easily. How Art Thy Broseth? In our conclusion of our HoTD recap, Aegon begins to awaken. Aemond presses him in an attempt to remind him that Aemond is in charge now. Alicent is lost and alone now that she has no place on the council. Rhaena happens upon a scorched field with dead sheep setting the stage for Sheepstealer to enter the show. Jace tells Rhaenyra that Team Black needs Daemon which in turn causes Rhaenyra to question Jace's faith in her. Mysaria sends boats full of food to Kings Landing under the Targaryen banner to sway the smallfolk to Rhaenyra's favor. All hell breaks loose in Kings Landing when the boats arrive with food and Alicent and Heleana are attacked in town leaving the church leading to the Kingsguard killing and maiming the smallfolk (which should go over very well). Larys slides into Aegon's good favor again in his last attempt to remain in the game. Daemon receives word that Grover Tully has finally kicked the bucket leaving House Tully available for recruitment. Addam of Hull has a run in with Seasmoke. Rhaenyra and Mysaria share a kiss and Rhaenyra rides out on Syrax to meet this new dragon rider who is flying around on Seasmoke... Their plot is foiled by Areo Hotah - who ambushes them and kills Arys Oakheart. Mackelly and Simon will miss the big guy.Chapter Review:Princess Arianne Martell and a handful of her closest friends wait at an abandoned holdfast for Ser Arys Oakheart and Princess Myrcella Baratheon. The rendezvous is the start of a long journey across Dorne. At the end of the journey, Arianne plans to crown Myrcella as Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. While they wait, her friend Garin shares news of the sighting of Arianne's brother Quentyn Martell in Planky Town seeking passage across the Narrow Sea. This only affirms Arianne's suspicions that Quentyn seeks the aid of the Golden Company to steal Arianne's birthright. With the new queen of the Seven Kingdoms on her side, and the support of the vast majority of the Dornish, Arianne will be sure to foil any of her brother's plans.When Ser Arys and Princess Myrcella arrive, Aryanne explains to Myrcella that Myrcella is the rightful queen and that Tommen has fallen in with bad advisors who have robbed her of her birthright. A confused Myrcella decides not to push the issue. The group leave for the Greenblood. Garin's family will meet them and take them up the river toward their destination.After a long, hot trip they arrive at the meeting point and find the boat where it should be. However, as they approach Aero Hotah steps onto the deck. Prince Doran's Captain of Guard tells them to stand down or all but the princesses must die. Most drop their weapons and yield. Ser Arys charges the boat and is cut down by bolts and ultimately Aero's axe. Arianne notices that Myrcella sobs into blood-covered hands before looking up at Areo. How did her father know? Areo responds that someone told. Jaime bids farewell to his uncle and to his father's remains, envies Loras Tyrell's horsemanship, and frets over his twin's drinking and her new friends. Simon and Mackelly think he might have a point.Chapter ReviewJaime Lannister bids farewell to his uncle Kevan who is leaving King's Landing with his son Lancel and the bones of his brother Tywin. The conversation doesn't go quite as Jaime hoped. Kevan is furious at both twins for their incest, the shame their bringing to the family, and Cersei's refusal to toe (Kevan's version of) the party line. Kevan is headed to the Riverlands where rumor has it that Sandor Clegane has joined forces with Beric Dondarrion to terrorize the citizens. Jaime's warning to be careful manages to sound like a threat.Jamie notes that King's Landing seems emptier now that the Tyrells have left. He sees Loras Tyrell practicing jousting with envy, the younger Kingsguard is the better horseman. He finds his sister in her cups and hanging with Pycelle, Taena Merryweather, and King Tommen. Lollys Stokeworth has given birth, and the child's stepfather (Bronn) has thoughtfully named the baby Tyrion. Cersei is not amused.Jaime dismisses everyone and tries to get Cersei to see sense with her new friends. Nobody knows the true loyalties of Qyburn, Taena, nor the Kettleblacks and these have become her confidantes. She doubles down wanting the comely but untested Aurane Waters to be the Master of Ship. Ser Arys Oakheart plans to break off his affair with Princess Arianne Martell. However, the simple sight of her erodes his resolve. Passionate lovemaking is followed by crippling guilt. Arianne promises a life together but first he must crown Princess Myrcella. After more than a little persuasion, the knight is onboard. Mackelly and Simon try to stop blushing.Chapter Review:Ser Arys Oakheart walks through the streets of Sunspear's shadow city incognito. It's too dangerous to wear his white cloak of the Kingsguard. Arys arrives at his destination; a simple room within the city. He's come to break things off with a woman. When he opens the door, he finds a naked Princess Arianne Martell waiting for him. The sight of her is enough to make him forget his original plan. Quickly they're within each other's embrace. From there things get hot and heavy. Afterward, desire is replaced by the guilt of breaking his Kingsguard vow. When he tries to leave, Arianne accuses him of having another lover but it's his duty to Princess Myrcella that he's leaving for. This affair is a blight on both of their honor. Arianne says it's not their relationship but the monsters he's served that is the dishonor. Arys believes Tommen Baratheon will be a better king than his brother. Arianne doesn't disagree but says Myrcella will be the better ruler. Cersei is awakened to the news that her father is dead. She can hardly believe it, but is not exactly broken up about it. At least her little brother is locked up and will be a head short by this evening. Ah, about that: he's escaped. Mackelly and Simon spot many of Cersei's character flaws, while ignoring their own.Chapter Review:Cersei dreams of sitting the Iron Throne. It's a great dream until Tyrion appears, and her clothes disappear. Then it takes a nasty turn. She gets cut and the Iron Throne fights her. Tyrion laughs. A maid wakes her. Not to save her from the dream but because the Kingsguard are here to let her know that Tywin is dead. Cersei's struggling to separate the dream from reality. But she begins to piece it together. She dresses and is escorted to the Tower of the Hand.En route, she ponders how she should react and how she and her rivals will use her father's death to their advantage. Jamie has followed the secret passage in the fireplace, and Loras Tyrell has been sent to check on King Tommen. She sends Boros Blount to confirm that Tyrion is still secured. She wants Pycelle to prepare her father's body, but he's been and gone and not even bothered to remove the quarrel from Lord Tywin's guts.Qyburn comes in and prepares the body, and asks what's to be done with Shae. Cersei hadn't even noticed her. She wants her removed quietly, so nobody gets the idea that Tywin was consorting with a prostitute. Jamie arrives back, no sign of the murderer. She offers him the role of Hand, he refuses. Uncle Kevan demands that they stop squabbling. Blount returns with news that Tyrion is escaped. Jaime has a curious goodbye with Arya Stark. He refuses to leave the Kingsguard, despite a strong push from his family. He resists an advance from his sister, which results in a heated argument between the two. Finally, he gives Brienne a jaw-dropping gift and then tasks her with a surprising mission in return. Simon and Mackelly squint hard at “Arya Stark.”Chapter Review:Jaime Lannister grows bored of watching the king sign documents that offer rewards or punishment to houses, for their roles in the war. He returns to the White Sword Tower. On his way, he runs into a girl claiming to be Arya Stark. Jaime is skeptical.Cersei waits for him in his chambers. Daenerys has taken Meereen, but Astapor and Yunkai are backsliding. She forgives Barristan Selmy for his failures to protect her family, but banishes Jorah Mormont from her sight. She'll stay in Meereen and rule. Mackelly and Simon settle in to watch some dragons grow.Chapter Review:Daenerys Targaryen surveys Meereen from the great pyramid. She's bothered by flies who've gathered to feast on the many dead, including the 163 she crucified as payment for what they did to the slave children.She meets an envoy from Astapor. The council she appointed have all lost their heads, literally, and a former (and apparently current) butcher Cleon, has made himself King. He offers his hand in marriage. Dany is distinctly disinterested. The second petitioner is a Qartheen trader. He has goods he wants to trade for slaves. He's surely barking up the wrong tree. Only Daario Naharis confirms that many freed slaves are down at the docks offering to reenter slavery. Dany begrudgingly allows it and imposes a tax on the trade to swell her own coffers.Next she sees Ser Barristan Selmy and Ser Jorah Mormont. The former gives it to her straight. Her father was mad, Viserys had the hallmarks too. Robert Baratheon was a great knight, and could have been a good king. She appreciates the candor and reinstates him to her service. Mormont tries a similar tack. He spied for Varys for a pardon, as recently as Qarth. But this is too much for Dany. Jaime reminisces about the bygone glory days of the Kingsguard. He turns his attention to righting the wrongs of the current White Swords. He goes man-by-man through his sworn brothers, calling them out on the issues he has with them. Lastly, he has a heart-to-heart with Loras about his claim that Brienne killed Renly. Jenny and Mackelly applaud Jaime's closing arguments.Chapter Review:Jaime Lannister reads through the White Book, the written history of the Kingsguard, while waiting for his sworn brothers to join. When his brothers arrive, Jaime admonishes them for allowing the king to die under their watch. He then gauges their opinions on Tyrion's involvement in the death.He goes through each man and calls them out on issues. Ser Boros Blount will now be King Tommen's taste tester, as he's unfit to protect the boy he gave up so easily. He then questions why he's never heard of Ser Osmund Kettleblack before. After that, he asks Ser Meryn Trant to show him where in their vows it says to beat women and children, like he did to Sansa Stark. He praises Balon Swann's character but questions how he'd handle his family challenging Tommen's rule.Finally, he turns his attention to Ser Loras Tyrell,  who reminds Jaime of himself at that age. Jaime makes a case for Brienne's possible innocence in the murder of Renly Baratheon. His argument is enough to seed doubt in Loras' mind. Jaime tasks Loras with talking with Brienne and deciding her innocence or guilt. Jaime and Brienne arrive in King's Landing. They've learned that bad news awaits them. Brienne is immediately imprisoned, while Jaime gets into it with his father and his sister. Simon and Mackelly hope for a bit more love and a lot less, respectively.Chapter Review:Jaime Lannister arrives in King's Landing with Brienne, Qyburn, and Roose Bolton's men. It's not changed that much, still stinks. They've learned en-route of the deaths at the weddings (the red and the purple). Jaime is struggling to find the correct emotion. He cares more about how Cersei is feeling and feeling sorry for himself about his hand.Upon arrival, they meet Ser Loras Tyrell, who denounces Brienne as a kingslayer - of Renly that is. Jaime arranges for Brienne to be imprisoned (temporarily, for her own good). Jaime visits the sept, where Joffrey lies in state. He finds his twin mourning over their dead child. She affirms that it was Tyrion who killed Joffrey. They have sex there and then. Jaime wants to be open about their relationship, but Cersei roughly disabuses him of that idea.Jaime visits his father, who reports that Vargo Hoat is getting his comeuppance from Gregor Clegane, who has retaken Harrenhal. Jaime is to leave the Kingsguard, marry Margaery Tyrell (Cersei will marry Oberyn Martell) and take King Tommen to Casterly Rock to be raised away from his mother. Jaime flat out refuses. This is an episode that starts and finishes with scenes involving swords. Tywin Lannister kicks things off with the two swords he had forged from Ice, Ned Stark's large Valyrian steel sword. He then awards one of these swords to Jaime Lannister, in exchange for him leaving Kingsguard and ruling Casterly Rock. Tyrion Lannister welcomes Prince Oberyn Martell of Dorne to King's Landing ahead of Joffrey Baratheon's royal wedding. Sandor "The Hound" Clegane and Arya Stark are on another road trip when they stop at an inn on their way to the Vale. They run into Polliver and his crew and all hell breaks loose. Arya is again reunited with Needle. Jon Snow is interrogated by the Night's Watch council. Across the Narrow Sea, Daenerys Targaryen marches with her army to Meereen. Jaime heads south while Brienne stays a captive of Vargo Hoat. After a night's sleep and a dream, his conscience pricked, he heads back to Harrenhal and saves Brienne from a terrible fate. Simon and Mackelly open their minds a tiny crack toward his redemption?!Chapter Review:Jaime Lannister leaves Harrenhal alongside Lord Roose Bolton. The pair split up and head in opposite directions, both sending regards to Robb Stark and Tywin Lannister, respectively. Jaime reminisces about his trip through these parts after first donning the white cloak of the Kingsguard. He learns that Vargo Hoat was unhappy with Lord Selwyn Tarth's offer of 300 gold dragons for Brienne's safe return.That night he dreams that he's deep in Casterly Rock, where his family abandons him to the darkness. Only Brienne stays by his side. He's visited by the shades of his Kingsguard brothers and Rhaegar Targaryen. They admonish him for killing King Aerys and allowing Rhaegar's wife and children to be killed. He wakes and determines he's going back to Harrenhal.Upon arrival at Harrenhal, he discovers that Brienne has been thrown in the bear pit with nothing but a dress of silk and a tourney sword. He jumps in to save her. He protects her until crossbowmen kill the bear. Brienne is speechless.After bath time, Brienne helps Jaime dress and then escorts him to dinner with Lord Roose Bolton. Jaime wants to know what Roose plans to do with Brienne and him. Roose explains that he has many options to consider regarding Jaime's fate. Brienne says he must let them finish their prisoner exchange in King's Landing. Roose says he's been told it was a prison break, and if so Brienne is guilty of treason. All that said, he does plan on sending Jaime on to King's Landing. First, he needs Jaime to promise to clear his name with Lord Tywin.Roose explains Vargo Hoat cut off Jaime's hand to dissuade Roose from sending Jaime back to his family, since Vargo is Roose's man, as Roose is King Robb's man. Therefore, Roose should take some blame for the act. Jaime promises to make it clear Roose saved Jaime and Vargo acted alone. Brienne assumes she'll be accompanying Jaime on his way. However, Roose sets her straight. She'll stay in Harrenhal, as Vargo's prize possession. Jamie's loses his hand and his will to live. Brienne helps him restore one of the two. Jamie returns the favor by sparing Brienne from rape. The pair end up in Harrenhal, where Roose Bolton has Jamie's wound tended to. Simon and Mackelly grab the smelling salts. Chapter Review:Jamie Lannister and Brienne of Tarth are in the custody of the Brave Companions. Jamie has lost his right hand. His sword hand. He's sick from the infection in the wound. He wants to die but Brienne reminds him of his reasons for living: his family and revenge.The pair are taken to Harrenhal. Jamie can't help but think of the irony. Harrenhal is where he was given his white cloak. Now he returns injured, sick, and helpless. The two are paraded in front of Lord Roose Bolton. Vargo Hoat explains his plan for Jamie. Brienne explains how she and Bolton are on the same side and so he should let her continue on her assigned mission.Roose sends Jamie and Brienne to private chambers and has Jamie's wound attended to. Jamie, Brienne, and Cleos run into bands of outlaws. One of the three doesn't survive. The other two aren't in much better shape, now being in the hands of the Brave Companions. Jamie urges their leader Vargo Hoat to hand him over to his father. Hoat considers it but wants to hand-deliver a message to Tywin first. Simon and Mackelly clasp hands and hope for the best.Chapter Review:Jamie Lannister, Cleos Frey, and Brienne of Tarth have made it to Maidenpool. The town is in ruins, with dead bodies everywhere. The trio leaves and make their way down the Duskendale Road toward King's Landing. An unexpected hail of arrows claims the life of Cleos. Jamie picks up Cleos' sword and attacks Brienne. At the end of a long fight, the pair are surprised to find they're surrounded by members of the Brave Companions.Jamie mistakenly thinks they still support his father Tywin Lannister. He's quickly disabused of that notion. They now support Roose Bolton and the King in the North. Jamie fears Brienne will be raped by the men. He suggests she's worth a lot in ransom, hoping it will keep her save.When the group meets up with the main body of the Brave Companions, Vargo Hoat claims Jamie as his captive. Jamie tells Vargo it's not too late to come back to the Lannister fold. Return him to his father and Vargo will reap a massive reward. Vargo isn't opposed to the idea. However, he wants to send a message first. With that, he has Jamie's arms laid across a rock. A sword is swung down toward Jamie. Sansa gets fitted for a new dress and Ser Dontos warns her that her new friends the Tyrells are as bad as the Lannisters. Simon and Mackelly get their haute-couture on.Chapter Review:Sansa Stark gets measured for a new dress. The seamstress has been sent by Queen Cersei Lannister. Sansa doesn't trust the motives for this largesse, but she does need a new frock. She's grown since moving to King's Landing and is busting out of her Winterfell dresses in eye-catching ways. The dressmaker is coy about what color the dress will be.Sansa continues to try to warn Margaery Tyrell against marrying King Joffrey Baratheon. Margeary thinks that having her brother Ser Loras Tyrell as a member of the Kingsguard is protection enough. Sansa thinks the older girl is underestimating the evil and depravity of her betrothed.Sansa shares the Tyrell's plan, that Sansa marries Willas Tyrell the heir to Highgarden, with Ser Dontos. He is not a fan. She'd be trading one trap for another, the Tyrells are the Lannisters with flowers, and his own plan is already in place. See it through, wear the hairnet to Joffrey and Margaery's wedding, and he'll have her out of here and truly free.
