Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. Political correspondent Tal Schneider joins host Amanda Borschel-Dan for today's episode. The US military carried out strikes in Iran early Wednesday following the downing of an Apache helicopter that US President Donald Trump accused Iran of shooting down and vowed retaliation for. Schneider describes uncertainty in Israel this morning as US bases housed by its neighbors are being targeted. During an interview about the Iran war with ABC News correspondent Jonathan Karl, Trump claimed Tuesday that it was an “open question” whether Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, 76, wants to continue his political career, while a poll showed that over 60 percent of Israelis don’t want the longtime premier to run in the upcoming Knesset election. Schneider weighs in. Legislation enshrining Torah study as a Basic Law is set to be brought to a vote today. The proposed law, backed by Haredi parties United Torah Judaism and Shas, would establish Torah study as a foundational national value and define long-term Torah study as “meaningful service” to the state, equivalent to army service, with implications for the rights and obligations of those engaged in it. What could this mean for the country? Italian prosecutors have put Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir under investigation over the treatment of Gaza flotilla activists seen in a video he published last month. This comes as France has barred Israel’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, four leaders of settler organizations and 21 violent settlers from entering the country, as several countries introduced fresh sanctions against settlers and organizations deemed to be responsible for violence against Palestinians in the West Bank. Even as the Israeli ministers brush off the sanctions, Schneider explains why this matters. Check out The Times of Israel's ongoing liveblog for more updates. This Memorial Day weekend, Student Pastor CJ brings a high-energy message challenging us to wake up to the spiritual reality of the world we live in. We often live like we are in peacetime, but a spiritual war is raging all around us. Drawing from Ephesians 6 and a trip down memory lane to Sunday school "Lord's Army" days, CJ reminds us that God's movement isn't confined to our walls. To be a follower of Christ is to be a soldier in the army of God, and the Church is the vehicle He uses to take ground. In this message on the heels of the Church Unbranded series, we are challenged to stop trading conviction for comfort, step off the bench, and start fighting from victory alongside a community that has our back.

Behold the Army of God - Part 3: Jealous Love Why is God jealous for your heart? The secret to spiritual victory. In this third installment of our series, Behold the Army of God, we uncover the most critical requirement for every soldier in His ranks: Exclusive, undivided love. God delivered the children of Israel out of Egypt—they were wealthy, healthy, and "harnessed for war"—yet they carried their idols with them into their freedom. This act of spiritual adultery posed a massive problem then, and it remains the primary obstacle for the modern-day church today. In this message, Pastor Mark A. Stroud explores the dangerous intersection of idolatry and spiritual fruitfulness. From the first commandment given to the Old Testament church to the stern warning sent to the church at Ephesus in the book of Revelation, one truth remains: We have abandoned our first love. God is not distant; He is pursuing us with a Jealous Love. He desires the fullness of our devotion, not because He is insecure, but because He knows that as long as we hold onto our idols, we cannot be effective against the enemy or fully glorify Him. In this video, we discuss: The First Commandment Mandate: Why exclusive worship is the foundation of the "Army of God." The Ephesus Warning: What happens when the Church loses its "first love." The Anatomy of Jealous Love: Understanding the Father’s pursuit of your heart. Practical Consecration: How to identify and cast away the idols hindering your effectiveness. Scripture Reference: Ezekiel 20:7: "...do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt; I am the Lord your God." Revelation 2:4: "But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first." Ready to align your heart? Getting rid of our idols isn't just about giving things up—it’s about preparing ourselves to be productive, victorious, and fully devoted to the one who loves us most. #BeholdTheArmyOfGod #jealouslove #PastorMarkAStroud #firstlove #spiritualwarfare #ephesus #consecration #christianvictory #spiritualgrowth #idol #idolatry

Behold the Army of God When the children of Israel stepped out of Egypt, they didn't leave as a band of weary refugees—they marched out as the "Army of God". In this powerful message, Pastor Mark Stroud explores the profound transformation of a people who had been defined by 400 years of slavery. We dive deep into the moment they exited the land of oppression, not in chaos, but "harnessed for war," organized and prepared for the destiny ahead of them. What We Cover in This Video: The Divine Provision: Discover how God didn't just deliver them; He equipped them with both wealth and health, ensuring that "there was not one feeble person among their tribes." Delivered from Oppressors and Oppression: Understanding the difference between being physically free and being mentally/spiritually free from the weight of the past. The Trial by Fire: We examine the necessity of the Red Sea. Why did God lead them into a "dead end"? Learn how the trial at the Red Sea was a refining fire designed to prove their faith before they could inherit the promise. * **Enduring the Hardness:** Faith doesn't mean the absence of trials; it means having the strength to endure the hardness as a good soldier of Christ. **Stay Connected:** * **Subscribe** for more biblical teaching and community updates.
Can you be physically delivered but still spiritually trapped? In Part 2 of the powerful series, Behold the Army of God, Pastor Mark Stroud exposes "The Lust Trap"—the hidden baggage that has the power to sabotage your destiny, steal your blessings, and change the entire trajectory of your life. When the children of Israel miraculously marched out of the land of Egypt, they left with absolute health, wealth, and the supernatural backing of the Almighty. God had completely broken their physical chains. Yet, as they journeyed toward the Promised Land, many carried a deadly secret in their bags: the literal and spiritual idols of Egypt. They left the land of slavery, but they brought the culture of slavery with them. In this message, we unpack exactly how these hidden idols hindered Israel's relationship with God, led them directly into sin, and brought avoidable misery and pain into their lives. More importantly, Pastor Mark shares critical, biblical keys on how we can identify and avoid these modern-day "lust traps" in our own lives today so we don't block the blessings God has engineered for us.

Will Leviathan Drive WW3? (Iran, Jerusalem, the Army of God)Dan Duval releases a rapid-response update interpreting recent global tensions as the possible opening stage of World War III. Referencing reports that the United States and Israel had bombed Iran, he frames the developments through a prophetic and spiritual warfare lens.Duval also discusses what he describes as the influence of Leviathan. He links this concept to elements of Kabbalah, including the “kosher serpent” doctrine and the concept of twin messianic figures Messiah ben Joseph and Messiah ben David, which are called twin leviathans. He argues that political Zionism and emerging ideas of universal consciousness form part of a hidden spiritual agenda that ultimately leads toward global governance through the catalyst of World War III.According to Duval, unseen powers manipulate opposing sides in geopolitical conflicts in order to maximize chaos and bloodshed, with particular focus on Jerusalem and the Temple Mount. He situates these developments within a biblical end-times framework, citing passages from the Book of Revelation (Revelation 11), Second Epistle to the Thessalonians (2 Thessalonians 2), and Book of Zechariah (Zechariah 14). He interprets current events as setting the stage for the rise of the Antichrist and escalating end-times conflict, while calling believers to respond through spiritual authority, prayer, and alignment with heaven.
You might think the Army of God is made up of people who have been “called” or chosen or ordained - you know, the professional Christians. But the truth is, when it comes to the Army of God, the second you become a follower of Christ is the second you are enlisted into the Army of God.
