The Intersection of Imagination, Science Fiction, Strategy and Creativity.we wandered into something I keep circling back to: the idea that strategy is a kind of science fiction. Not in the “space battles and robots” sense, but in the deeper way that science fiction gives us permission to imagine futures—plausible or not—and then build toward them. Jarrett and I talked about design not just as a tool for solving problems, but as a mode of inquiry, a way of asking better questions and shaping new cultural narratives. We both share this instinct that branding, design, and strategy aren't just reactive—they're speculative. They make bets on the kind of world a product or company wants to inhabit. They tell stories about futures that don't exist yet, and then use those stories as scaffolding for action. That's what excites me about this work: it's not just about “making things,” it's about materializing possibilities. There's also this important undercurrent about imagination as a form of intelligence. We don't talk enough about that. Creativity isn't some whimsical add-on—it's central to how organizations find direction, how they differentiate, how they respond to change. And good strategy? It needs to evoke, not just calculate. This episode was a reminder that strategy and design, at their best, operate in the realm of the imaginary. They're speculative tools. And maybe the real work is helping people see that imagination is infrastructure.Jarrett Fuller is a designer, writer, educator, editor, and podcaster. He is an assistant professor of graphic design at North Carolina State University and hosts the design podcast Scratching the Surface.https://jarrettfuller.com/http://scratchingthesurface.fm/

" Whether you believe Christ is a Messiah or not, Christ is love and there was no love. Nothing in this experience leads me to believe that she comes from love."This is Part 2 of Robyn's story in our "Bewitched" series, where we continue exposing the manipulation, coercion, and psychological control that played out under Betty's so-called spiritual mentorship. And while while they were cutting my hair, I found myself humming. Almost Cut My Hair through Masterpiece by Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young, probably the greatest band in rock 'n' roll history. The irony is what the song tells the story of someone who was on the verge of cutting their long hair, the symbol of rebellion and free spirit for the sake of mundane, bourgeois life. But at the last moment, held back. I, on the other hand, have nothing bourgeois about me, yet I keep cutting my hair short. Out of all four musicians in Crosby, steel Smash, and Young, I always liked the last one, Neil Young. The most, the most restless, the most rebellious of them all. I've loved his music since I was a teenager. You know that feeling when a song seems to be telling the story of your own life. That's how it was for me, even when I grew up. When I was arrested by the police in Egypt and sent to prison, Neil Young's Mid East Vacation was playing in my head. By the way, back in 2012, I was arrested on charges of spying for the United States. I took pride in that for years, but now looking at the United States, I think, no, but was not worth going to jail for, even for was few hours, which the police needed to find out that I was really a journalist covering the Tahrir Revolution. At the beginning of a full scale invasion and my military service, I kept recording Youngs Living With War, and when I missed home and my family terribly, his Going Home. And just recently I remember it that the very first thing I bought on my first ever trip to the United States years ago was Neil Young's book, Waging Heavy Piece. I bought it in an airport bookstore right after passing passport control. And the day after my latest haircut, I read in the news that Mr. Young is coming to perform here in Ukraine. This is a real miracle. I don't quite understand how it's going to happen because gathering people in a stadium or a large concert hall is extremely dangerous- we are under constant bombardment. I don't know if I'll be able to attend the concert because I'm in the Army and it's far from certain that I'd get leave- or that there would be even available seats. But... But! The most important thing is that he's at least planning to come. That at the very least, through his plans, he's supporting Ukraine. The only ones, I'm more grateful to when him, are you- my listeners, most of you who go out to rallies for Ukraine, who support our resistance, who make it possible for us sooner or later to finally rocking in a free world.

Starmer Waiving The Rules. According to the British Prime Minister Keir Starmer his government is looking at "every conceivable way" to prevent me and at least 300 other people from receiving compensation for wrongful arrest and imprisonment in the 1970s. This issue of compensation arises from the decision by the British Supreme Court in May 2020 that the Interim Custody Order (ICO) or internment order issued against me was unlawful. Internment was demanded by the Unionist government in 1971 and imposed by the British on 9 August that year. It had been used in every decade since partition in 1920. Internment saw thousands of armed troops smash their way into nationalist homes to arrest 342 men and boys. They were dragged from their beds and many were beaten. Fourteen – the Hooded Men - were subjected to days of sustained torture. 25 people were killed in the following four days. In Ballymurphy in west Belfast eleven local citizens, including a priest and mother of eight, were killed by the Paras in the Ballymurphy Massacre. Five months later the Paras attacked an anti-internment march in Derry and killed 14 people. Bloody Sunday was another of many dark days in the conflict. In July 1972 another five citizens, this time in Springhill, were killed by the British Army. They included another priest and a thirteen-year-old girl.Leonard Peltier - Going HomeLeonard Peltier is a native American activist. He has spent almost 50 years in prison in the USA for a crime he has always denied and which many, including some involved in jailing him, have long believed he was innocent of. A short time before he left office US President Joe Biden commuted Leonard's life sentence to one of home confinement in his tribal homeland in North Dakota. Leonard is due to be released on 18 February.

Leonard Peltier will spend the remainder of his prison sentence at home after the 11th-hour action by President Joe Biden. Friends, family and supporters expressed surprise and relief as they heard the news Monday. National Congress of American Indians President Mark Macarro said Biden's decision comes after "50 years of unjust imprisonment," and is a powerful act of compassion and an important step toward healing.” In December, Macarro personally asked Biden to take action on Peltier's behalf. Among the many advocates for Peltier's release over the past five decades include South African President Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa and the United Nations High Commissioner on Human Rights. We'll hear from Peltier's family and others who have followed his case about what this action means for him and how it will be viewed historically.
A livestream conversation hosted by TRN Podcast host Nick Estes and prominent members of the Leonard Peltier movement for clemency! Statement by The Red Nation: "After a half-century of unjust incarceration, Leonard Peltier is finally going home! “It's finally over–I'm going home,” said Peltier in response to the news. “I want to show the world I'm a good person with a good heart. I want to help the people, just like my grandmother taught me.” For decades, the now elder Dakota and Ojibwe member of the American Indian Movement represented a powerful symbol for millions. His imprisonment has been viewed as collective punishment against generations of Indigenous people who fought for liberation, from the Red Power Movement of the 1960s and 1970s to the Water Protector Movement that fought against the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline in 2016."
