On today's episode of Behind the Stays, you're going to meet a guy who has made a habit of burning the ships… twice. Josh went from helping people write on their walls with his first company, Writeyboard – the e-commerce brand that turned boring offices into floor-to-ceiling whiteboards – to designing the kinds of spaces people dream about escaping to.In his early 30s, sitting on a house in LA and feeling a quarter-life crisis creeping in, he looked at his girlfriend and said, “This year, we're moving to Bali.” He sold the house, unwound a decade-long business, and flew halfway across the world to start over in real estate in a place where the rules, language, and rhythm of life were completely different. That leap set off a chain of projects and partnerships that eventually led to Tiba – a Bali-inspired hospitality brand – and now to his boldest undertaking yet: a highly designed, nature-immersed resort in the hills of Tennessee that blends luxury, landscape, and a whole lot of soul.In this conversation, we get into how Josh thinks about risk, why he keeps selling everything to chase the next build, and what it actually looks like to try and create the next generation of stays from scratch.

Before she became a TikTok star, Eli Rallo had a clear vision for what her post-grad years would look like: she'd have a fulfilling career, fabulous friends, and would finally "feel like an adult." Instead, she found herself struggling with social anxiety, a directionless career, and a nagging fear that she'd never figure it all out: enter the 'quarter-life crisis.' Eli started sharing her unfiltered experiences online, building a community by being open about the highs and lows of her twenties. And now, in her new book of essays, she's unpacking the lessons learned and unexpected moments of joy she discovered through embracing life's uncertainties. Eli and Leah sat down to explore how Gen Z is coping with “adulting” and what you can learn from the other side of a big life transition. Plus, Eli talks about the unique challenges Gen Z faces and together, they unpack how cultivating real human connection offline confronts the strains and pressures of living in a digital world. You can find Eli's new book ‘Does Anyone Else Feel This Way?' here. If you liked this episode, check out our conversation with professor Erin Cech on the problem with passion. Was weiß man darüber? Wen betrifft diese Krise? Und was kann dann tun? Darum geht es in dieser Folge. Do you ever feel lost? What usually helps you find your way back? Today, Jay sits down with @HealthyGamerGG (Dr. K), psychiatrist, meditation teacher, and author of How to Raise a Healthy Gamer, for an eye-opening conversation about why so many young people feel lost and disconnected in today’s world. Together, they uncover the hidden struggles millions face: loneliness, confusion, and the constant pressure of feeling “behind in life,” even when everything looks fine on the outside. Dr. K shares how shifting milestones and rising societal pressures have fueled an epidemic of uncertainty, leaving many to question their worth, direction, and identity. Together, Jay and Dr. examine how ego, technology, and external expectations shape the way we see ourselves. Drawing on neuroscience, psychology, and Eastern philosophy, Dr. K explains how the constant search for validation traps us in cycles of comparison and self-criticism. He offers practical tools for breaking free, learning to tell the difference between “thinking about yourself” and truly “paying attention to yourself,” observing emotions without attaching heavy meaning to them, and discovering peace in stillness. This conversation is a powerful reminder that the way out of overwhelm isn’t found in doing or achieving more, but in cultivating clarity and connection within. They dive into the challenges of masculinity, purpose, relationships, and the many forms of modern addiction, from pornography to overwork. Dr. K emphasizes that true healing begins with embracing discomfort, processing the emotions we’ve long avoided, and choosing our own values rather than living by society’s script. In this interview, you'll learn: How to Overcome a Quarter-Life Crisis How to Tell The Difference Between Identity and Identification How to Stop Feeling Behind in Life How to Pay Attention Instead of Overthinking How to Quiet the Ego’s Voice How to Process Painful Emotions Safely How to Build Healthier Relationships with Boundaries How to Reduce the Grip of Technology on Your Mind Growth doesn’t come from racing toward milestones or comparing yourself to others, but from learning to pause, pay attention, and listen to what’s happening within. Every challenge you face can be a doorway to deeper clarity, resilience, and peace. This week we kept shouting things like HIT ME! TWIST! GO FISH! WHAT'S A SPADE? In order to win the professional attention, and personal sympathy, of Jo Living – founder of ‘poker for business' consultancy Aces High. Having noticed that poker was less about bluff and bravado and more about strategy, empathy and teamwork, Jo realised it could be the perfect game for teaching people how to make smarter business decisions. From there she went on to run workshops teaching everything from communication and negotiation, to assertiveness and risk management, all done eye-to-eye through what she calls the ‘contact' sport of poker. It's an episode where we try very hard not to say things about ‘laying the cards on the table' (but probably won't succeed) covering everything from the real-world value of a poker face to the power of a timely pause. You may have heard of a mid-life crisis, but what about a quarter-life crisis? Bruce and Gaydos explain what it is and why so many young people are having one.
Today, I interview Holly MacCue, who used to walk into work feeling sick with dread, afraid she would be exposed as a fraud. Even after being recognized by her boss as a “shining star,” she couldn't shake the fear that she didn't belong. A high achiever since childhood, Holly placed enormous pressure on herself to succeed—and it eventually made her physically ill. She lost her voice to laryngitis, and with it came a wake-up call: something had to change. As a sensitive, creative child, Holly had always expressed herself through writing, but she was never the loudest in the room. She was thoughtful, disciplined, and driven. Though her parents never pushed her, she pushed herself hard. That drive followed her into adulthood, until one day, sitting at dinner with friends, she thought, “I guess I'll just be happy when I retire.” That moment cracked something open. She began redefining what success meant to her. She left corporate life, started her own business, and gradually built a life aligned with her values. The turning point deepened when her newborn daughter struggled with undiagnosed health issues. Despite being dismissed by professionals, Holly trusted her instincts and fought to be heard. That experience became a powerful lesson in using her voice for what matters.Today, Holly helps entrepreneurs do the same. Through her Magnetic Selling Method, she shows them how to speak clearly, connect deeply, and stop hiding. Her message is simple: your voice already exists—what matters is choosing how to use it.__________________Holly MacCue is a Sales and Messaging Strategist for service-based entrepreneurs, running a multi–six-figure business while raising two young children. She is a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation and brings over a decade of experience as a brand strategist for global companies like Unilever and Procter & Gamble, where she led strategy for a $200 million portfolio.Through her signature Magnetic Selling Method™, Holly has helped over 1,000 clients across 70+ industries master their messaging, stand out as the no-brainer choice, and attract pre-sold, ready-to-invest clients. Her approach is grounded in buyer psychology and has empowered clients to double their prices, quadruple their income, sell out their first launches, and scale to multiple six figures in as little as 12 months.A sought-after speaker on magnetic sales and messaging, Holly has been featured in Entrepreneur, Forbes, Huffington Post, and Entrepreneurs on Fire. It's been a while since I last published a podcast episode on @bloomincrisis. As I realized that time spent editing videos was taking away from my writing and other practices, I decided to shift my focus despite having a long backlog of recordings I've yet to revisit. However, after observing many students struggle with effective networking (most recently while hiring for our internship position), I felt compelled to edit and share this throwback episode that I recorded with students at Fordham University more than a year ago.In this episode, you'll learn:❌ The biggest turn-off when it comes to networking❌ Why you might not have found success in networking yet ✅ How reframing networking in your mind can help you build meaningful relationships ✅ Creative ways to leave a lasting positive impression on potential employers or hiring managers—plus real-life examples! If this resonates with you and you'd like to dive deeper, I'll be back at Fordham this Wednesday, March 5th, for another speaking event. Hope to see you there. Good luck!
Last night we wrapped up our Quarter Life Crisis series! Pastor Phil led us in a message exploring how the choices we make today shape our future: ✨ God has a plan for your life… and so does the enemy. Which path are you choosing?
Cold weather may prevent us from gathering safely, but the warmth of God's majesty keeps us fired up for Him! As we continue in our series Quarter-Life Crisis, Pastors Chad Glover and Jonathan Clark are joined by Jeff Cox, the Executive Pastor of Counseling at Abundant Life Church, and Andrea Cleek, a licensed professional counselor (LPC) from the Crossroads Campus of Abundant Life Church to talk about the challenges we face with our mental health and how it affects us in our walk with Christ. Stay warm and see you next Tuesday, Paradigm! Paradigm is a weekly gathering of Kansas City college and 20s-30s young adults who desire to see Jesus made known throughout the city! God's promises are bigger than any crisis, yet oftentimes we tend to forget that He desires good for us! Last night Pastor Jon reminded us of a few of Gods promises as we navigate through relationship crisis. Promise #1: A promise to believe (Jeremiah 29:11) ➡️ Are you more focused on what others think than what God says? Trust His plan! Promise #2: A promise to walk in (2 Corinthians 12:7-10) ➡️ His grace is more than enough—lean into it! Promise #3: A promise to return to (Psalm 23:1-3) ➡️ The Lord restores your soul. Let Him lead you! God wants to redeem what has been broken in your life, so hit the floor, catch the bats, and patch the holes! God's got you—hold onto His promises! https://www.bible.com/events/49389989 Paradigm is a weekly gathering of Kansas City college and 20s-30s young adults who desire to see Jesus made known throughout the city! So far in our Quarter Life Crisis series, we've covered how to navigate a crisis and the insecurities that come with it. Last night, Pastor Chad went even further and talked about something we can all relate to: work. Most of us are just working towards the weekend, but God gives us a new purpose and perspective in our careers. God wants us to be people of integrity who represent Him, and He also wants to have a relationship with us. We can apply this to our jobs and careers by: 1️⃣ Working hard and resting well 2️⃣ Talking to people about God and your relationship with Him 3️⃣ Reporting back to Him and inviting Him into all areas of your life, including your workday, every day! Missed last night's message? Each week, Paradigm sermons are posted on YouTube, Spotify, Amazon Music, and Pocket Casts!
“Quarter Life Crisis” continues! Last night, we tackled a struggle we all face—insecurities. So often, we try to handle insecurities by: 1️⃣ Hiding in our crisis 2️⃣ Dismissing God's promises 3️⃣ Questioning God 4️⃣ Doubting His call on our lives But here's the good news—God meets us in our insecurities and speaks truth over us in a way only He can. Our identity isn't found in our fears; it's found in Him! ❤️ Missed last night's message? Catch up anytime on YouTube, Spotify, Amazon Music, and Pocket Casts!

Today we're rerunning our Taylor Tomlinson episode — one of our favorites from Season 2! You may know her from her viral Netflix specials, "Quarter Life Crisis" and "Look at You", but this week's guest, the bright, witty, and ludicrously funny Taylor Tomlinson, feels duped! She thought she was coming on for a breezy conversation on first periods and childhood crushes, and instead found herself deep in a conversation on heartbreak, rejection, death, and mental health. The hosts hold nothing back, too, this week as they reflect on sudden loss and middle school trauma. This is a special episode of Podcrushed you won't wanna miss. We're getting candid in our interview with Isabel Dumaa. The rising LA-based artist just released her new EP Just My Nature featuring breakout single “Quarter Life Crisis.” Now 21, Dumaa began singing and songwriting at age 10. At age 12, her moms booked her first ever studio session to record songs she had been filling journals with. We talked to Isabel Dumaa about how she found her own voice on her debut EP, how she embraces femininity and not being afraid to show emotion in her music, and learning how to stand her ground as a young woman in the music industry. In the handful of years since she broke through in a big way with her ‘Quarter-Life Crisis' special on Netflix—and first appeared on this podcast—Taylor Tomlinson has become a bona fide comedy star. The 30-year-old comedian put out two more hours on Netflix, became the host of her own late-night show with CBS' ‘After Midnight,' and is currently touring her newest hour nationwide. In her second sit-down with The Last Laugh podcast, Tomlinson opens up about how fame has impacted her material, why she's focusing on religion for her Save Me tour, and how ‘After Midnight' is starting to look more like a traditional late-night talk show—even though that's not what she signed up for.
