You may have heard of a mid-life crisis, but what about a quarter-life crisis? Bruce and Gaydos explain what it is and why so many young people are having one.
Today, I interview Holly MacCue, who used to walk into work feeling sick with dread, afraid she would be exposed as a fraud. Even after being recognized by her boss as a “shining star,” she couldn't shake the fear that she didn't belong. A high achiever since childhood, Holly placed enormous pressure on herself to succeed—and it eventually made her physically ill. She lost her voice to laryngitis, and with it came a wake-up call: something had to change. As a sensitive, creative child, Holly had always expressed herself through writing, but she was never the loudest in the room. She was thoughtful, disciplined, and driven. Though her parents never pushed her, she pushed herself hard. That drive followed her into adulthood, until one day, sitting at dinner with friends, she thought, “I guess I'll just be happy when I retire.” That moment cracked something open. She began redefining what success meant to her. She left corporate life, started her own business, and gradually built a life aligned with her values. The turning point deepened when her newborn daughter struggled with undiagnosed health issues. Despite being dismissed by professionals, Holly trusted her instincts and fought to be heard. That experience became a powerful lesson in using her voice for what matters.Today, Holly helps entrepreneurs do the same. Through her Magnetic Selling Method, she shows them how to speak clearly, connect deeply, and stop hiding. Her message is simple: your voice already exists—what matters is choosing how to use it.__________________Holly MacCue is a Sales and Messaging Strategist for service-based entrepreneurs, running a multi–six-figure business while raising two young children. She is a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation and brings over a decade of experience as a brand strategist for global companies like Unilever and Procter & Gamble, where she led strategy for a $200 million portfolio.Through her signature Magnetic Selling Method™, Holly has helped over 1,000 clients across 70+ industries master their messaging, stand out as the no-brainer choice, and attract pre-sold, ready-to-invest clients. Her approach is grounded in buyer psychology and has empowered clients to double their prices, quadruple their income, sell out their first launches, and scale to multiple six figures in as little as 12 months.A sought-after speaker on magnetic sales and messaging, Holly has been featured in Entrepreneur, Forbes, Huffington Post, and Entrepreneurs on Fire. It's been a while since I last published a podcast episode on @bloomincrisis. As I realized that time spent editing videos was taking away from my writing and other practices, I decided to shift my focus despite having a long backlog of recordings I've yet to revisit. However, after observing many students struggle with effective networking (most recently while hiring for our internship position), I felt compelled to edit and share this throwback episode that I recorded with students at Fordham University more than a year ago.In this episode, you'll learn:❌ The biggest turn-off when it comes to networking❌ Why you might not have found success in networking yet ✅ How reframing networking in your mind can help you build meaningful relationships ✅ Creative ways to leave a lasting positive impression on potential employers or hiring managers—plus real-life examples! If this resonates with you and you'd like to dive deeper, I'll be back at Fordham this Wednesday, March 5th, for another speaking event. Hope to see you there. Good luck!
Last night we wrapped up our Quarter Life Crisis series! Pastor Phil led us in a message exploring how the choices we make today shape our future: ✨ God has a plan for your life… and so does the enemy. Which path are you choosing?
Cold weather may prevent us from gathering safely, but the warmth of God's majesty keeps us fired up for Him! As we continue in our series Quarter-Life Crisis, Pastors Chad Glover and Jonathan Clark are joined by Jeff Cox, the Executive Pastor of Counseling at Abundant Life Church, and Andrea Cleek, a licensed professional counselor (LPC) from the Crossroads Campus of Abundant Life Church to talk about the challenges we face with our mental health and how it affects us in our walk with Christ. God's promises are bigger than any crisis, yet oftentimes we tend to forget that He desires good for us! Last night Pastor Jon reminded us of a few of Gods promises as we navigate through relationship crisis. Promise #1: A promise to believe (Jeremiah 29:11) ➡️ Are you more focused on what others think than what God says? Trust His plan! Promise #2: A promise to walk in (2 Corinthians 12:7-10) ➡️ His grace is more than enough—lean into it! Promise #3: A promise to return to (Psalm 23:1-3) ➡️ The Lord restores your soul. Let Him lead you! God wants to redeem what has been broken in your life, so hit the floor, catch the bats, and patch the holes! God's got you—hold onto His promises! https://www.bible.com/events/49389989 Paradigm is a weekly gathering of Kansas City college and 20s-30s young adults who desire to see Jesus made known throughout the city! So far in our Quarter Life Crisis series, we've covered how to navigate a crisis and the insecurities that come with it. Last night, Pastor Chad went even further and talked about something we can all relate to: work. Most of us are just working towards the weekend, but God gives us a new purpose and perspective in our careers. God wants us to be people of integrity who represent Him, and He also wants to have a relationship with us. We can apply this to our jobs and careers by: 1️⃣ Working hard and resting well 2️⃣ Talking to people about God and your relationship with Him 3️⃣ Reporting back to Him and inviting Him into all areas of your life, including your workday, every day! Missed last night's message? Each week, Paradigm sermons are posted on YouTube, Spotify, Amazon Music, and Pocket Casts!
Welcome to the first episode of Small Talk! Small Talk is a new series that allows us to contribute to other important, relevant conversations that are dominating our algorithms and group chats but aren't necessarily a news headline. For our first episode, which aptly publishes on Sarah's 27th birthday, we wanted to ease in by chatting about all the stress revolving around the concept of the ‘quarter-life crisis' and re-assessing those self-imposted timelines. Let us know what topics you would like us to talk about next on bigsmalltalk_pod or in the comment section
“Quarter Life Crisis” continues! Last night, we tackled a struggle we all face—insecurities. So often, we try to handle insecurities by: 1️⃣ Hiding in our crisis 2️⃣ Dismissing God's promises 3️⃣ Questioning God 4️⃣ Doubting His call on our lives But here's the good news—God meets us in our insecurities and speaks truth over us in a way only He can. Our identity isn't found in our fears; it's found in Him! ❤️ Missed last night's message? Catch up anytime on YouTube, Spotify, Amazon Music, and Pocket Casts!

Today we're rerunning our Taylor Tomlinson episode — one of our favorites from Season 2! You may know her from her viral Netflix specials, "Quarter Life Crisis" and "Look at You", but this week's guest, the bright, witty, and ludicrously funny Taylor Tomlinson, feels duped! She thought she was coming on for a breezy conversation on first periods and childhood crushes, and instead found herself deep in a conversation on heartbreak, rejection, death, and mental health. The hosts hold nothing back, too, this week as they reflect on sudden loss and middle school trauma. This is a special episode of Podcrushed you won't wanna miss. In the handful of years since she broke through in a big way with her ‘Quarter-Life Crisis' special on Netflix—and first appeared on this podcast—Taylor Tomlinson has become a bona fide comedy star. The 30-year-old comedian put out two more hours on Netflix, became the host of her own late-night show with CBS' ‘After Midnight,' and is currently touring her newest hour nationwide. In her second sit-down with The Last Laugh podcast, Tomlinson opens up about how fame has impacted her material, why she's focusing on religion for her Save Me tour, and how ‘After Midnight' is starting to look more like a traditional late-night talk show—even though that's not what she signed up for. Renee is the Founder & CEO of Amazi Foods, a mindful tropical-fruit food company that works directly with small businesses and farmers groups in Uganda to make these delicious snacks that are bringing some much-needed excitement into the dried fruit category. Amazi originated largely from Renee's college trip to Uganda where she completed her thesis research. She noticed that there were many delicious local organic fruits - something that wasn't prevalent in the states. However, the local markets had very limited access outside Uganda. The supply chains were broken. Now, Renee is dedicated to building a better supply chain and supporting economic development in Uganda. Fast forward a few more years, Amazi has sourced from over 300 farmers in Uganda with more than half being women, and is in top retailers like Amazon, Wegmans and soon to be Whole Foods Market. Renee earned her Bachelors degree in Economics and the College of Social Studies from Wesleyan University. A fun fact: on the side, Renee has also been a fitness guru for most of her life – working as a lead strength trainer and yoga teacher. -----Past guests include Margaret Wishingrad, Kara Goldin, Brandi Chastain, Julie Foudy, Ann Miura Ko, Linda Avey, Sarah Leary, Becky Sauerbrunn and many more.Follow us on Instagram | LinkedIn | YoutubeCheck out the She Leads website-----In Today's Episode with Renee Dunn We Discuss:1. She talks about the best ways to deal with contentment and comparison during bumpy seasons of life. Kate shares how she creates goals with her clients utilizing her framework Goals with Soul, and how to make new habits with simple tweaks in your day to create long lasting habits. Tune in to learn how to create goals with intention to fit into your life. The Salad With a Side of Fries podcast is hosted by Jenn Trepeck, discussing wellness and weight loss for real life, clearing up the myths, misinformation, bad science & marketing surrounding our nutrition knowledge and the food industry. Let's dive into wellness and weight loss for real life, including drinking, eating out, and skipping the grocery store. IN THIS EPISODE: [6:19] We meet Kate as she shares her quarter life crisis. [12:20] What is the difference between default and design, and how do you bridge the gap between the two? [18:40] How do you deal with contentment? [20:50] What are the best ways to deal with comparison? [26:20] How can you determine what you want to focus on in the next season of life (or right now)? What is a Goal with Soul? [34:43] Kate shares an example of breaking down your goals and making them truly attainable.[39:46] How can you work through imperfect action? KEY TAKEAWAYS: A Goal with Soul starts with an intention. It is aspirational, attainable, meaningful, and seasonally appropriate.Action creates clarity and it's what moves us forward. Make the action for your goal to be as small and simple as possible, so that it's almost too easy to do it.Show up for yourself imperfectly, you will learn along the way and eventually master the skill. Action helps you create clarity and is what creates results. Life goes through seasons, and there may be times when you have more time to take action and push your life forward, and other times where you need to slow down and focus on what is in front of you while implementing joy in the little pockets you have available. QUOTES: [7:47] “I actually did have a light bulb moment because that was the moment I realized, oh my gosh, I am the only person who can change this for myself. Dennis can't do it for me, my boss can't do it for me, I have to take ownership of my life and I have to decide to pour myself into the things that feel fulfilling, that feel like I'm living by design, cause up until that point, I was kind of living by default.” - Kate House[8:36] “Nothing changes if nothing changes, and also what I'm not changing, I'm choosing.” - Kate House[13:48] “To me, living by design means hitting pause on the busyness of life and taking time to really be present with the people that I love most. The cool thing to me about living by design is that it is unique for each and every one of us.” - Kate House[41:24] “Ed Mylett had this great quote on a podcast years ago, he said imperfect action beats perfect inaction every time. I draw on it so often to inspire me to take action and to do it imperfectly, and to be ok with the fact that I can't start something new, I can't be a beginner at something and also be a master at it at the same time.” - Kate House"We're setting up the systems for the most hectic of days, not for the ideal day." - Jenn TrepeckRESOURCES:Willpower Guzzlers Podcast EpisodeThe 12 Week Year: Get More Done in 12 Weeks than Others Do in 12 MonthsBecome A Member of Salad with a Side of FriesJenn's Free Menu PlanA Salad With a Side of FriesA Salad With A Side Of Fries MerchA Salad With a Side of Fries InstagramGUEST RESOURCESKate House's WebsiteLive by Design PodcastKate House's InstagramFree month of LBD Collective MembershipOvercoming Overwhelm MasterclassGUEST BIOI'm Kate House, your host of the Live By Design Podcast and founder of the empowerment coaching program - the Live By Design Collective!I help women who feel stuck and overwhelmed and want to move through life with confidence and clarity set and actually achieve their personal goals with soul via mindset shifts, personal growth practices, healthy habits, and guilt-free self care! You can find me living in my small town of Gettysburg, PA with my husband (and college sweetheart!), my two little boys, and two mischievous pup dogs too.
