Somehow, Austin Bold FC parked three busses in front of the goal on Saturday night and kept United from picking up a win on Pride Night. Of course, that also meant that Austin was incapable of going forward. What does that mean for United? If you ask Jacob, his hand is on the little glass box that protects the panic button. In this episode we discuss: Austin Bold, San Antonio, Edgewood is full of rednecks according to Earl, and so much more. Austin Bold FC season is five games into their season and the results have been mixed so far: two wins, a draw, and two losses finding themselves fifth out of seven in the USL Championship Mountain Division, although most other clubs have a game in hand. The story thus far has been a formidable defensive unit, allowing only two goals in the last four games, and a brand new offensive core that is searching for cohesiveness and goals. This is a make or break season for Bold FC as they enter the third year of a three year plan. Success means the team will carry onwards. If they struggle it may be curtains for the franchise. Bold FC Marcelo Serrano is confident that his squad will put up a dogged fight from start to finish. Mark Bay of The Striker Texas had a chance to sit down with Serrano in an exclusive interview.
There's no place like home. New Mexico United's homecoming was punctuated with a 3-1 win over the visiting Austin Bold FC. On this episode, the guys go deeper into their breakdown of the play and the day out at the park and take a look ahead to the Friday match against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. There are a lot of lessons to be learned in sports. Certainly one of the most valuable—especially for pro players, given that long careers are a rarity—is that it is important to put in the mental work while playing to set yourself up for success after your sports career ends. With that in mind, today’s guest is Amobi OKugo, a professional soccer player with Austin Bold FC, who has multiple projects outside of his soccer career with a clear focus on education and a true intention to learn continuously.
