We discussed how to exchange comfortability for profitability when your younger and this can help you in the long run because the one thing you don't get back is time. This can be done via multiple avenues for example decide which property would work best for your specific situation and house hacking to save you money to invest, save and begin a path towards financial freedom. For those still inquiring about Cybersecurity career, I brought in a long-time friend and colleague who happens to be a successful Cybersecurity Cloud Engineer, Python programmer, Application Security Tester and wearer of many other hats in the IT field across multiple verticals: Tom McCourt (@Wookiee_ ) Much like myself, this guy Tom has had a general disdain for degrees and certifications. Though he has acquired both, his career has not been driven by paper but rather by a dedication to learning with resources like Hack the Box, udemy, Twitter feed research and (most importantly) on-the-job training. OK, obviously it's your bro Steph on this week's episode edits, had a busy week(end). For today's episode, we're diving into whether or not it makes sense to pick up trades or go to college and in particular the opportunity cost associated to each decision. Realizing you have a finite amount of time in each day you'll live, you should align your Life on a Mission on a course where you can help sustain yourself and others as quickly and efficiently as possible. With that said, please consider what we have to say today about when it makes sense to go to college vs learning and practicing as trade that doesn't require a college degree (such as, of course, the technology field given that it is so broad). On today's episode we talked about Coaching vs Consulting. We discussed the biggest difference between coaching and consulting. Typically consultant holds the answers, while a coach helps their client find their own answers. Consulting requires that the consultant have expertise in the area that the client seeks to learn and grow. A coach's role isn't always to provide the answers. A coaching goal does not need to have specific knowledge or experience in the topic area that the client wishes to improve. The coach instead offers guidance in the changes needed, tips or strategy development, goal attainment, and accountability process, which is effective. We talked about examples as it pertains to both roles from our own life experiences and much more. The goal of creative financing is generally to purchase, or finance a property, your educational expenses or whatever the case may be using as little of his own money as possible, otherwise known as leveraging, OPM (Other People's Money). It can even be leveraged as a means to secure the funds for educational purposes as a pose to securing funds via traditional methods. This allows you to get better rates or even alleviate interest rates entirely. But it does come at a cost (outside of having a good credit score/history, solid income to debt ration, track record of payment history etc the preliminary requirements) you MUST be reliable, trustworthy, dependable, have developed personal rapport with the other party involved and have a track record of a high level of Integrity. In addition it comes down to honesty and consistency of character if you lack in any of this then it's not an option for you. This is an option that potentially could save you money. Essentially this episode is life hacks to get you thinking outside the box. KEY TAKEAWAYS: Conventional Methods: Personal Loans, Auto Loans (Car Notes), Mortgages, Student Loans etc. Creative Methods: Shared Secure Loan, Loans from family/friends and paying them back, leveraging an individual with a strong financial record to Co-Sign on your behalf, Cash-Out Refinance, Home Equity Line Of Credit etc. Follow us on Instagram and Twitter @loampod Steph: Instagram @misterbottles and Twitter @GEDSuccessStory Fonz: Instagram @fonz_onamission27 and Twitter @onamission_27 DISCLAIMER Fonz & Steph are NOT certified financial advisors, nor lawyers, nor economists, nor CPA's. Buy and hold is a passive investment strategy in which an investor buys stocks (or other types of securities such as ETFs) and holds them for a long period regardless of fluctuations in the market. An investor who uses a buy-and-hold strategy actively selects investments but has no concern for short-term price movements and technical indicators. Many legendary investors such as Warren Buffett and Jack Bogle praise the buy-and-hold approach as ideal for individuals seeking healthy long-term returns. KEY TAKEAWAYS Buy and hold is a long-term passive strategy where investors keep a relatively stable portfolio over time, regardless of short-term fluctuations. Buy and hold investors tend to outperform active management, on average, over longer time horizons and after fees, and they can typically defer capital gains taxes. Life on a Mission Wednesday's with more of that free game listeners across the world are soaking up. ACTION ITEMS: !!!!Build your credit score!!! If you have a bad, low or fair credit score, you can see a lot of benefits to this score immediately by doing the following: 1. Pay what you owe: Work with a credit professional, do your research on how to deal with accounts in collections, whatever you need to do, you need to pay what you know you owe. Creditworthiness is built on this principal for most people in the world- will you pay your debts under the terms laid out before you? When I haven't done this, I became "delinquent" which was a "delinquent" attitude. As a responsible father, I pay my creditors on time, typically earlier and sometimes for more than what they anticipate. Take the weight of responsibility seriously when you're looking for OPM to finance your life. 2. Get a credit builder account: We strongly recommend secured credit cards such as Self and OpenSky to begin building your credit score with small amounts of money. 3. Get a serious credit monitoring toolset: We strongly recommend myFico for this. Your credit should become part of your business and thus a business expense, a professional toolset is mandatory in my opinion. CreditKarma and the like are too limited.
