We "Indiana Jones'ed" in Rob's beer fridge (nearly losing Adam to a booby trap) and emerged with a unique variety of tasty beverages. The title of this episode is all of the additional information we are willing to provide. Thanks to the following breweries for giving us something to talk about!Flat 12 Bierwerks, Upland Brewing Company, Black Flag Brewing Company, DuClaw Brewing Company
RUN This week was not a travel week for us, so on to training updates! Aimee completed speed work this weekend and will complete a long run on the upcoming weekend to stay on track for SouthernMost Half Marathon, Wine and Dine, and Jeff Galloway’s race weekend! Dana completed a 9-miler and has lessons he learned on the road to help you on your next long one! EAT This week Dana takes us on an Infinity Hunt! This was a Marvel-themed, local event involving local taprooms and breweries! What a fun collaboration! Solving clues to locate all the Infinity Stones was hard work! During the hunt, he got hungry and ordered food from Paradise Pizza to be delivered to Big Storm Brewing in Cape Coral. He has a recap of a chicken tenders basket and we talk about other offerings on the menu we want to try. DRINK Dana went to Eight-Foot Brewing, Big Storm Brewing, No. 3 Craft Brews, Big Blue Brewing, and Scotty’s Bierwerks, before returning to Eight-Foot to finish the final step of the Infinity Hunt. Don’t worry, he followed the advice we always give: Bring a designated driver or ride share to stay safe! Big Storm Brewing - Munich Dunkel No. 3 Craft Brews - Innis and Gunn Kindred Spirits Stout Big Blue Brewing - Chocolate Milk Stout Scotty’s Bierwerks - Irish Red Ale Eight-Foot Brewing - Florida Wheat NEXT WEEK It’s National Coffee Day! Jason, CEO of Books & Brews and Flat12 Bierwerks, AKA the Funky Boss, lays out Operation Roadhouse - be nice, to everyone, all the time. Listen carefully, we're about to do something no one else is doing.
RUN It's 4th of July! Happy Independence Day to the United States of America! We ran the Freedom 5K sponsored by the Cape Coral Chamber of Commerce in our hometown to celebrate. It was the first time we ever ran this 5K. Be prepared for hills if you run this one! You traverse the Cape Coral Bridge twice and part of an overpass in Fort Myers. But it is a great view and watching the sunrise over the water while running to celebrate July 4th is an amazing way to start the day. Just a pro tip: Try to do packet pickup prior to race day as lines the morning of the race can be a bit long. Parking is also at a premium, so we recommend getting there as early as possible. We tried to get there an hour before the race in order to find parking (about a half mile away from the start) and pick up bibs. EAT We went to a newer restaurant in Cape Coral to have some post-race brunch. Gather is nestled in Tarpon Point at the Westin Resort in Cape Coral. The view of the water as you eat and drink here is beautiful. We had a pancake and corned beef and hash. It was mouthwatering goodness all the way to the last bite! DRINK Gather always has local beer on tap. Scotty's Bierwerks is right in Cape Coral. They make a Hefe that is light, not hoppy and not overly carbonated. With a low ABV and subtle flavors of coriander and orange, it was a perfect post-run beer. THAT'S A WRAP Thank you for watching! Here's hoping for a great second year of the podcast because of all your support! Please subscribe and rate us on iTunes. We would love to hear your feedback and need your help getting discovered as a podcast! Follow us on our website, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
RUN The Fast and The Furriest 5K is quite possibly one of the best 5Ks we've run because it benefits the Gulf Coast Humane Society, an organization that supports animals in need. You can run, you can walk, and best of all, your dog can participate in the race. We met some of the best dogs and people. One dog stole our hearts and will be featured on the podcast in the coming weeks! Please support this great organization by running or walking this race, volunteering, or donating. EAT There is a great new place for tacos and burritos in Fort Myers called Chronic Tacos. We went and had an awesome California Burrito. They have awesome breakfast tacos too, which will be featured in a Quick Bite soon. This restaurant shares its space with a great place to have a beer, too. DRINK Marlins Brewhouse features over 40 beers on tap and crowlers! We had a great local beer from Scotty's Bierwerks and this brewhouse features all kinds of tasty Florida beer. Be sure to check out their Chronic Fest coming up soon. We talked with owner, Tim Frederic, about what makes this place so great. THAT'S A WRAP! Thanks for watching! Please subscribe and rate us in iTunes. We would love to hear your feedback or about places we should feature in upcoming episodes. You can follow us as we accomplish, explore, and indulge on our website, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
We're back again with another "two-parter" from a brewery. This week we feature, Flat 12 Bierwerks from wonderful downtown Indianapolis. We were able to speak with brewer, Erik "EZ" Fox and sales manager extraordinaire, Phil Hilligoss.Sadly, we were down a podcaster. Adam was forced to go to Hawaii for 3 days and while he was back in Indiana for the show, he had not yet fully recovered from his island journey. Let us all join together in a moment of silence for the hardships he had to endure...Now that we've got that out of the way. The episode is jam-packed with exciting 2018 beer release discussion and a review of Flat 12's Felicette Belgium Dry-Hopped Pale and their Pinko! Russian Imperial Stout.Discussion then takes a momentary turn from beer discussion and we focus on Nicholas Cage movies, the right way to "shotgun" a beer, and cannibalism in Japan. If you liked the first half, be sure to give the second a listen too!
Grand Junction Brewing Co. doesn’t just make great beer, they know how to throw one hell of a party. They teamed up with those crazy kids from Indiana on Tap for a special summer throw down. The Pigs were pleased to be a part of this amazing outdoor craft beer and live music festival. A mild summer, mid morning storm didn’t scare away the beer drinkers and it ended up being a fantastic day of grooves and brews. We have visits in Part One from a soggy Brian Graham of Four Day Ray Brewing, the boys from Brew Link Brewing (who took good care of us during the raining morning set up), Emily Denise(EmDog!) of the Deer Creek Brewery, Mr. Bob of Round Town Brewery, and a much needed, tasty visit from the electric Tipsy Turvey’s. Lots going on with all these breweries. You won’t want to miss Brew Link’s 1.5 Anniversary Party coming up in October. We hear there is some Ivory aging in a Wild Turkey barrel we can’t wait to tap! Join in the fun for Part One of Rock the Junction and stay tuned for Part Two coming out soon. Cheers! http://www.grandjunctionbrewing.com/ http://www.indianaontap.com/ Shout outs in this episode include: Indianapolis Girls Pint Out; Taxman Brewing Company; Ron Smith; JD Brake and DEWALT; The Guardian Brewing Co.; Bent Rail Brewery & Restaurant; CenterPoint Brewing; Danny Boy Beer Works; Metazoa Brewign Company; Flat 12 Bierwerks; Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery; and the New Holland Brewing Co.
In this week’s episode, I’ve got info on a Taxman Brewing tap takeover, Upland Brewing gives you a chance to taste both versions of their collaboration with Jolly Pumpkin, plus several things to do with your sweetheart on Valentine’s Day. We sat down this past week and tasted some of the local options for Holiday seasonal beers! Don't be fooled, these aren't your typical Christmas ales, but instead some solid offerings from Bloomington Brewing Co., Daredevil Brewing, Powerhouse Brewing, Flat 12, Sun King Brewing and Upland Brewing Co.
Tonight we are joined by the all powerful Rob Caputo, head brewer and co-founder of Flat 12 Bierwerks. We talk local beer of course, and he gives Popper a new nickname. This was a fun one, and definitely worth a couple listens!
