If you thought one Robert Pattinson was good, wait 'til you see two of them in "Mickey 17." We couldn't wait to review the latest sci-fi/satire extravaganza from the great South Korean auteur Bong Joon Ho, his first film since the historic Oscar wins of his 2019 masterpiece, "Parasite." But while we both enjoyed Pattinson's dual performances, we're split on how effective "Mickey 17" is as a whole. Co-starring Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Mark Ruffalo and Toni Collette. In theaters now. Then we had a lot to talk about during our regular Friday Movie News LIVE!: Oscar follow-ups, the start of South by Southwest, John Mulaney's "Everybody's Live" on Netlix and more. Join us for these weekly livestreams every Friday at Noon Pacific. And over at our Patreon, we've started recapping "Daredevil: Born Again" on Disney+. Plus we're in the middle of "The White Lotus" season 3 and we have "The Last of Us," "Andor" and "The Handmaid's Tale" coming. Now is a great time to join us! Thanks for being here. This week I was down in Delaware, Ohio hanging with Frank Barickman who is the owner and head brewer at Restoration Brew Works. Frank and I discussed the brewery's opening in 2015, and how they survived through 2020. We also talked a lot about how breweries need to evolve in 2023 to remain successful. During the interview we drank some very tasty beers including a Pilsner featuring a new aged lager yeast that helps it finish out fast like an Ale while still maintaining a traditional lager taste. We also drank an award-winning Irish Red that they often use as a gateway beer for non-craft beer drinkers to convert them. At the end we drank a delicious Russian Imperial Stout from 2021. Beer Selection: · Sulky – German Pilsner 5.4 % · Stewart Red – Irish Red 5.9% · Cosmic Juice – American IPA 6.7% · Silverback – Russian Imperial Stout 11.5% · Eclipse Black Lager – Schwarzbier 5% You can find Restoration Brew Works on the web at https://restorationbrewworx.com/ and you can also see them on FB @rbwrx and IG at @rbworx. With his good coat, keen nose, bravery, and endurance, he was well fitted to perform any of the ordinary tasks required of a dog; from work in the prairies, the tangled coverts of undomesticated growth, upland cover, the cold plunge in icy waters after ducks, or the wearing plodding in the slashes, he performed under all conditions well, and willingly.
As we move to the month of the Irish we might as well start reviewing some Irish beer styles. This week we discuss Irish Red Ales. This is a style that has a very distinctive malt flavor that showcases both notes of toffee and caramel. While the true Irish Red Ales are lower in alcohol, American versions often come in a t much higher payloads. Style examples: 1. Guinness – Smithwick's Red Ale 2. Sam Adam's - Irish Red 3. Thirsty Dog – Irish Red Setter · ABV: 3.8 – 5.0% · IBUs: 18-28 · Color: 9-14 Our sample beer for the week: Great Lakes Brewing Company – Conway's Irish Ale 6.3% and 25 IBU. Beer as described by brewer: A pint for Pa Conway! Our co-owners' grandfather and policeman who'd likely uphold that an Irish Ale with full-bodied caramel malt flavors is just the ticket. EAT At the beginning of the pandemic, this time last year, we visited the Mobstah Lobstah Food Truck. It instantly became a favorite. We can return to it a year later and review a dish we had for the first time this year: Lobster Mac and Cheese. Yes, get it if you are in the Southwest Florida area. You won't regret it. It is worth the wait and the price. Mobstah Lobstah is restaurant-quality goodness! We are dreaming about having it again. We're not waiting a whole year this time! Mobstah Lobstah, you rock! DRINK Scotty's Bierwerks just turned 4 this past weekend and had a great Breakfast Blonde release. Coffee-flavored beer? Yes, please! We've had their beer on the show before but wanted to celebrate this limited release and talk about a favorite of theirs that is always on tap, the Irish Red. Happy anniversary, Scotty's Bierwerks. Going out with a tribute to Tom's grandfather with a beer that was only supposed to be a once a year brew, but it was too damn good. Check out C.C. O'Neil's Irish Red and a smoked Tri Tip that might make you see your deity.
Rob is back! We visited Hopnonymous in Kearny Mesa and had Leaving Without Saying Goodbye Irish Red 6%. We discussed on how Rob felt like he got hustled and wants to clarify a few things about his dating life that Angel and the Phat Coochie Society brought in Ep. 21. We also visited a speakeasy at Kilowatt Brewing. Cheers. Instagram @beerbelly Email beerbellysociety@gmail.com TikTok @beerbellysociety Twitter @bigbelly619

P&C drink and review O'Hara's Irish Red, then find that they can't communicate. The words they try to use have taken on new and confusing meanings. Orientation. Diversity. Identity. Transition. Reassignment. Privilege. Trigger. Equity. Tolerance. Pronouns. Even the rainbow. The new definitions of these words are intended to force you to think in a different way -- to adopt a particular view of the world, and of your neighbor. The boys don't like it.
St. Patrick's Day may be behind us, but that doesn't mean we can't still drink like the Irish do. On this beer show we break down the red ale and discuss what makes it a red tasty treat as well as the difference between American Reds vs. English vs. the classic Irish Red. Tam joins us with snipets from his 15-pint drinking session and our resident beer "when it comes to red ales I'm definitely not an expert" expert Oisin. In this week's episode we embrace all things Irish, and explore the history and regale you with fun facts and trivial bits of knowledge about St. Patrick's day. We then discuss Stephen's flight home from vacation, inpiring us to examine situations that might, or might not, make us uncomfortable. This week's canned inspiration comes from Public House Brewing Company called Flynn's Irish Red. We want your recommendations! What is your favorite canned beverage? We‘d love to have a taste and feature it on a future episode. Any additional suggestions, questions, or corrections you may have, we want to hear those as well! Make it personal! No half stars, we commit and stand by the full level we award. 5-Star: We love it so much, we rave about it to anyone who will listen, and actively hand them out to friends and family to try! 4-Star: We really like it, will proactively get more, and will keep some on hand to enjoy at our next social gathering. 3-Star: It's good, we like it, and equate it to our standard weekend selection. We won't go out of our way to acquire more, but will certainly have it again should the situation arise. 2-Star: It's not great. We will finish this can, but will part ways after, and will likely not meet again in the future. 1-Star: It's terrible. We won't be finishing the can, and will need another, better can, to wash the awful taste out of our mouths. 0-Star: It's so bad, it caused a visceral reaction that made us physically reject it's contents.
Liam O'Dwyer, Secretary General of the Irish Red Cross, discusses Ireland's 'astounding' response to the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.
