SCHEDULE JOHN BATCHELOR SHOW, 6-5-2026.1900 ADAMS BOULEVARD LA. Jeff Bliss highlights the stark contrast between Seattle's controlled homelessness and the pervasive crisis in Los Angeles. The discussion transitions to California's jungle primary, where late-arriving ballots in the Los Angelesmayoral race show statistically improbable gains for Karen Bass and Nithya Raman, fueling accusations of election irregularities. Jeff Bliss previews the opening of a massive, multi-story In-N-Out Burger in Las Vegas, predicting it will become a celebrity destination similar to Hollywood's historic clubs or New York's Stork Club. He also reflects on a rare 1955 invitation from Walt Disney, noting its role in establishing Disneyland's enduring cultural legacy. Richard Epstein examines the 14th Amendment's opening clause, distinguishing the robust rights of citizens from the conditional privileges of aliens. He argues that naturalization was historically a federal prerogative, noting that early statutes, influenced by Thomas Jefferson, included explicit racial exclusions for persons of African or Asiandescent. Richard Epstein disputes the "plain meaning" application to the 14th Amendment, arguing that "subject to the jurisdiction" requires natural allegiance rather than mere physical presence. Critiquing the Wong Kim Ark ruling, he suggests that children of legal permanent aliens should inherit their parents' status rather than automatic citizenship. Jim McTague reports on the cautious economic sentiment in Lancaster County, where despite falling gas prices, consumers remain budget-conscious. While tourism remains strong at venues like the Sight and Sound Theatre, local officials recently rejected a proposed data center in Columbia due to technicalities and concerns over its utility. Lorenzo Fiori provides an optimistic update on Italy's economy, noting improved employment rates across various demographics. He highlights a landmark legislative shift toward nuclear energy, with small plants planned by 2034. For travelers, he recommends San Miniato, a strategic, less-crowded Tuscan village famous for its white beans. Bob Zimmerman dismisses NASA's sheltering orders on the ISS as an overreaction to routine Russian repair work on the Zvezda module. He details SpaceX's massive IPO, which aims to raise billions, and observes that private space station firms like Axiom and Vast continue to secure significant capital despite SpaceX's market dominance. Bob Zimmerman surveys global spaceport developments, contrasting Spain's investment in French Guiana with the liquidation of the UK's Sutherland facility due to red tape. He debunks claims that the interstellar comet 3I/Atlas is an alien craft and notes that unpredictable sunspot activity continues to defy scientific models. Andrew Bayliss recounts how Pericles provoked the Peloponnesian War by steering Athens toward confrontation with Sparta. He details the Athenian strategy of retreating behind city walls and relying on naval imports, a move that tragically facilitated a devastating plague, claiming thousands of lives, including Pericleshimself. Andrew Bayliss profiles Lysander, a Spartan general of modest origins who secured crucial Persian funding to challenge Athenian naval supremacy. Lysander achieved victory not through direct combat, but by using deception to capture the Athenian fleet while the crews were uncharacteristically casual and off their ships. Andrew Bayliss explores the aftermath of Sparta's victory, noting that Lysander's immense power and ambition ultimately led to his death during a failed siege. Sparta's dominance eventually collapsed at the Battle of Leuctradue to a dwindling citizen population, reducing the once-mighty superpower to a minor village. Andrew Bayliss critiques the modern application of the "Thucydides Trap" to US-China relations, arguing that the original Peloponnesian War was not inevitable. He suggests the conflict was precipitated by specific provocations and accidental circumstances, drawing parallels to the circumstantial outbreak of the First World War. Henry Sokolski warns of China's fast breeder reactor program, which produces super weapons-grade plutonium capable of fueling efficient nuclear triggers. He also notes South Korea's growing interest in developing independent nuclear capabilities and submarines to counter threats from North Korea and China, despite international non-proliferation standards. Henry Sokolski explains the strategic significance of deploying Dual Capable Aircraft (DCA), such as the F-35, to reinforce NATO's nuclear deterrent in Europe. He observes that while Moscow and Beijing oppose these deployments, the aircraft act as vital "glue" for alliances, ensuring that American nuclear guarantees remain credible. Richard Epstein analyzes the Wong Kim Ark decision, arguing that Justice Horace Gray erroneously applied birthright citizenship to the children of ineligible aliens. He further critiques the expansion of the Equal Protection Clause in the 20th century, claiming it was originally intended for criminal matters rather than civil benefits. Richard Epstein discusses the legal complexities of a proposed executive order to end birthright citizenship for children of illegal aliens. He highlights the rise of "manufactured citizenship" through birth tourism and predicts the Supreme Court may eventually distinguish between transient visitors and those seeking permanent residency.

PLEASE SIGN UP ON PATREON, EVEN IF IT'S FOR FREE! Posting everything here has become a burden, and if you're only listening to this feed you probably aren't getting all of the episodes. Sign up now at Patreon. It’s two podcasts (Pod Yourself and the Frotcast) for the price of one! Patreon dot com slash frotcast! This episode is free, but $5 a month gets you all the premium ones (two a week!). This week on the Frotcast, bitter infighting consumed the group chat as the third day of negotiations about what to watch for this episode reached an impasse. While the talks were Vanced, the Strait of Discourse stayed mercifully open. What we're trying to say is, We didn't watch a movie this week. Sorry. Rapper/pornographer Ray J has months to live. He also has a very strange interview with Cam Newton's silly hat. Ray J answers the question “Are you gay?” with a story about what people do when they go home. It gets worse from there, believe it or not. A sample exchange: Ray J: “Do you listen to Biggie Smalls?” Cam: “Can you just answer my question?” We'll always love you for moving your hat 7 times in a 30 second conversation, Ray J. What we do in life echoes in eternity. Then we get some IRL Kyle Mooney action when streamer 4_Inches gets spotted at In N Out Burger (drink!) by Jakob with a K (drink!), the lead singer of Sublime (drink!). What follows is one of the dumbest conversations we've ever been privileged to hear. This then leads to one of the Frotcast's top two or three Nobel Prize-worthy anthropological theories; Socal bros = saltwater juggalos (drink!). Next, many are calling it The Most Australian Story Ever: man uses his dog to unsuccessfully bludgeon a murderous crocodile but is mercifully saved by a Sheila having a ciggy and his mate Kevin Bevin, who then blesses us with a wonderful new term for a penis. Finally, someone tried to assassinate Trump again, but this time it was a libbed out soyboy who geared up for murder and then took a mirror selfie doing the Lin-Manuel Miranda lip bite. WHY DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING?? Perhaps making campaign pledges to only the most insane people in America and then aggressively doing the opposite has some sort of deleterious effect on said crazy people. Who can really know what is in anyone's heart though? The Frotcast's official BPD GF Olivia Reingold did what any good WCHP dinner journalist would do and documented the action by taking a selfie video. You can poison our houseplants any day, girl.
Hur hittar man glädje mitt i begränsningar? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Ever been to an In N Out Burger restaurant before? If you're from California, chances are basically 100% that you have… and chances are also close to 100% that you LOVE you some In N Out. But if you're not from California… you may not have even heard of In N Out… and even if you have, you may not have actually tried it before. So here's the question: How good is In N Out's food? Well, if you ask Rich, he'll tell you that despite what all his California friends say, it actually kind of sucks. How is it that his opinion--and it turns out, a lot of Texans' opinions could be so different? Well… as you will hear today, it has a lot to do with selling to friends versus strangers.
Send us Fan MailFast food opinions get personal fast, and we lean all the way into it. We start with the big four chains and rank Wendy's, McDonald's, Burger King, and Arby's based on what actually keeps people coming back: breakfast consistency, app deals, coupons that save your wallet, and whether the food matches the hype. If you care about McDonald's breakfast, Wendy's hit-or-miss streaks, or why Burger King “isn't hitting like it used to,” you'll feel seen.Then we widen the lane into the best fast food burgers conversation. We debate premium picks like Five Guys, talk Wendy's as a reliable burger option, and get into regional fast food legends, including In N Out Burger animal style, Checkers and Rally's, Culver's butter burger, and Whataburger. We also tackle the “are sandwich chains fast food” question, from Jersey Mike's and Subway to Penn Station and the difference between a chain sub and a true local deli sandwich.Nostalgia shows up big with McDonald's play places, Happy Meals, collectible toys, and the nuggets vs burger debate, plus a side quest into pickles that gets surprisingly heated. We finish with modern convenience and how DoorDash changes the whole fast food experience, then close on the only proper finale: milkshakes from McDonald's or Arby's versus a Wendy's Frosty, with a very real reminder that the McDonald's machine may never be working when you need it.Subscribe for more Ride Home Rants, share this with the friend who always orders the same thing, and leave a review with your most controversial fast food take.All music brought to you by former guest of the show SpeedoSubscribe for exclusive content: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1530455/support Buzzsprout - Let's get your podcast launched!Start for FREETactical BrotherhoodThe Tactical Brotherhood is a movement to support America.Dubby EnergyFROM GAMERS TO GYM JUNKIES TO ENTREPRENEURS, OUR PRODUCT IS FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO BE BETTER.ShankitgolfOur goal here at Shankitgolf is for everyone to have a great time on and off the golf courseSweet Hands SportsElevate your game with Sweet Hands Sports! In this episode, Travis and his producer take a deep dive into a fascinating business debate sparked by In-N-Out Burger's long-standing refusal to embrace delivery apps like DoorDash. Through a mix of humor and real-world experience, they unpack the tension between convenience and brand integrity—and what it means for entrepreneurs trying to build lasting businesses. Drawing on Travis's firsthand experience as a franchise owner, this episode breaks down how customer loyalty, product quality, and strategic decisions shape long-term success. On this episode we talk about: Why In-N-Out has resisted delivery apps for over a decade The pros and cons of platforms like DoorDash for business owners How brand perception and customer experience impact long-term growth Real insights from running a franchise and managing delivery platforms The importance of repeat customers vs. one-time transactions Top 3 Takeaways Protecting your brand experience can be more valuable than short-term revenue gains from convenience channels. Delivery platforms can drive awareness, but they often come with trade-offs like lower margins and less control. Building repeat customers is the foundation of a sustainable business—loyalty beats volume over time. Notable Quotes "A brand is how people feel about what you do—and convenience can't come at the expense of that." "You don't just want more customers—you want the right customers who keep coming back." "If your product isn't great, no amount of marketing or discounts will save you." For this installment of the show, we broadcasted with Tom Vernon! A lo-fi house artist that both Luxury Noise and YUNG SHIRO 白 have loved for years, Tom's humble, friendly affect and willingness to share his thoughts made him a perfect guest for "Hot Takes"; and we excitedly picked his brain about topics like hardware vs. software in production, binging artists' discographies, and Octopath Traveler. Starting his outsider house production while still in high school, Tom Vernon has since become a prominent name in the scene, releasing on reputable labels like Shall Not Fade, regularly appearing on lo-fi house Youtube mixes and Spotify playlists, and even playing live shows for crowds in VR chat. As an artist that Luxury Noise and Shiro both treasure, the time we got to spend with Tom Vernon went by rapidly, and we made the most of our time with him as we could! We held all chat submitted questions until the final half-hour of the episode runtime, discussing all manner of things, such as early 2010's deep house, field recordings in Japan, and staying alive while the music industry burns down. Tom gave us the 411 on his perfect show line-up, bad lo-fi house tropes, and In-N-Out Burger. Don't miss conversations about "rally house" music, echo and reverb in electronic music, and producing with all free plug-ins. If you weren't there for our visit with left field house producer Tom Vernon live, give it a listen, and be sure to join the public community Discord server and check out the latest Spotify playlists as well! There's a big difference between a good burger and a great burger. For many, myself included, hamburgers have been a staple of my diet since I was a youngster. Back in the day, they were cheap and easy meals. Everybody knows some of the first fast-food restaurants were hamburger joints. One of the West Coast‘s favorite burgers is from In-N-Out Burger. They recently opened their first locations here in Middletown, Tennessee. And many people were excited. They were so thrilled, they stood in line for hours to grab an Animal-style Double-Double. I’ll wait a while before I give them a try… Click Here To Subscribe Apple PodcastsSpotifyAmazon MusicGoogle PodcastsTuneIniHeartRadioPandoraDeezerBlubrryBullhornCastBoxCastrofyyd.deGaanaiVooxListen NotesmyTuner RadioOvercastOwlTailPlayer.fmPocketCastsPodbayPodbeanPodcast AddictPodcast IndexPodcast RepublicPodchaserPodfanPodtailRadio PublicRadio.comReason.fmRSSRadioVurblWe.foYandex jQuery(document).ready(function($) { 'use strict'; $('#podcast-subscribe-button-13292 .podcast-subscribe-button.modal-69928f5e2e5ed').on("click", function() { $("#secondline-psb-subs-modal.modal-69928f5e2e5ed.modal.secondline-modal-69928f5e2e5ed").modal({ fadeDuration: 250, closeText: '', }); return false; }); });

Quick recap The meeting began with personal travel experiences, including dietary preferences and climate adjustments. The group then covered various news stories and unusual events, ranging from rejected license plates to a robot setting a badminton record, before transitioning to a detailed demonstration of a DA2 digital player and its features. The conversation ended with humorous stories and jokes, followed by a reminder about listener ratings and upcoming episodes. Summary Terry shared his travel experiences, including an incident where his suitcase vibrated due to an accidentally activated beard trimmer, and mentioned his adjustment to the warm climate in Chicago, which contrasted with the cold back home. They also talked about dietary preferences, with Terry recounting a conversation with a Wisconsin resident who avoids cheese and discussed his own meal preferences during his hospital stay. Terry mentions the consistent menu of pot roast served at the facility. Terry and Keith discussed the poor quality of food and service at the hospital cafeteria at Hines, noting that meals were served on Styrofoam plates with plastic utensils since November. Terry mentioned giving braille calendars to Maggie from the Madison County Blind, to be distributed to veterans during exit interviews. News of the Week Due to technology issues Terry passes the torch to Jill to get the segment started. She shared an update on a hibernating bear under a California man’s house, which had been lured into a cage by wildlife officials but ended up capturing the wrong bear. Terry then shared a story about Illinois officials revealing rejected personalized license plates from 2025, including one that read “I be poopin’.” Keith shared details about the auction of the final run of pennies in the United States, where 232 sets of three pennies sold for $16.76 million, with the last penny sold for $8,000. They also discussed the historical value of pennies and the changing cost of penny candy over the years. Jill mentioned a story about a Japanese company building a robot, though the details were not fully explored. The unusual news stories continue, including a robot setting a world record for consecutive badminton returns against humans, a horse knocking over a mailbox in Florida, and police recovering a stolen Faberge egg in New Zealand. Terry shared a story about a West Coast fast food chain, In-N-Out Burger, removing the number 67 from their ticket order system due to a viral trend. Jill's Weird Words Before Jill can get her first word out, Terry has more technical difficulty. Will he make it back in time for his top 10 list? Jill introduces a word game, where participants had to guess the meaning of “Verso” and “e-Phyllis.” Terry's Top 10 List He makes it back just in time, and Terry shared his top 10 list of things reindeer do when it’s not Christmas. They then transitioned to discussing Terry’s new book reader from the NLS library, which he brought to Heinz for instruction. Keith helped identify features of the device, including USB ports, a cartridge slot, and the possibility of connecting a QWERTY keyboard for entering passwords and book titles. Anchor Topic This is the segment or we talk about blindness related issues. Since Terry is now receiving extra training, we turn the segment over to him so we can share what his goals are to learn. Terry demonstrated the functionality of a DA2 digital player, including its buttons, features, and navigation. He explained how to use various buttons for tasks like playing books, adjusting settings, and accessing the user guide. Keith and Jill provided clarifications and asked questions to better understand the device’s capabilities. They discussed the possibility of covering more features in a future session. Email and Final Thoughts Keith reads emails from listeners, but Terry expressed a preference for emails about real experiences rather than dreams or visions. Keith shared a humorous story about St. Peter at the gates of heaven, where he compared the rewards given to different individuals based on their earthly deeds. He followed it up with the story about a man whose wife discovered he made bets on horses. The final word from our AI companion The group then engaged in a lighthearted exchange of jokes, with Terry and Jill contributing their own humorous anecdotes. The episode concluded with Keith encouraging listeners to leave ratings and feedback, and reminding them to check for new episodes every Thursday. Show notes written by AI, edited as needed by Keith.
