Hello, Palm Desert! We kicked off Thanksgiving week with sunsets that felt like paintings. Our RV home? Coachella Lakes RV Resort—peaceful lakes and mountain views. Thanksgiving highlights included prime rib with “framily,” cheering for the Cowboys, and Lainey Wilson's halftime show. A trip to Boozehounds let Khan enjoy a pup-friendly treat, while we soaked up the Palm Springs vibe and its Hollywood charm. We ended our trip with Coachella's magical Christmas lights.

Dave Bidini is a musician, songwriter, author, journalist, publisher, and sports enthusiast. Most people know Dave as the beloved front man of Canada's art rock darlings, Rheostatics. His super-fuelled stage presence is a wondrous thing to behold, and his ability to deliver a song with focused fervour—in addition to the superb musicianship of the band—has captivated fans since the late 80s. But, take a closer look at Bidini's overall creative output, and you'll find that the music of Rheostatics provides a rich sonic backdrop to a life jam-packed with all manner of artistic, intellectual, and community-based pursuits. In this conversation, Dave and Jane are joined by Music Buddy co-producer (and Dave's oldest friend and Rheos' bandmate), Tim Vesely. Plus, Dave fields some "phone-in" questions from friends (and previous Music Buddy guests) Stephen Stanley, Mike Downie, Lisa Sabino and Ryan Myshrall. This episode is packed with the most serious of topics: everything from science to dystopia to farts. We start with an in-depth discussion of fart jar science and connoisseurship. We then learn that the Earth is getting a Black Box (like in planes!) and we quote Carl Sagan. Do we really need a lickable TV? Bryan's not buying one anytime soon. There is more speculation about biological life on Venus and we quote Carl Sagan again. Tom gets very excited about Hamsters being able to drink. The Pope says "Have Kids not Pets" and Bryan has a lot to say about that. And we close out with dumb people's obsession with celebrity. Our Linktree: https://linktr.ee/liquoreduplowdownThe Drink:Tom:1 Splash LimoncelloLots of GinBryan:Line a Martini Glass with Dry VermouthLots of GinNews Stories from This Episode:The Big Fart Jar Con:https://www.insider.com/reality-star-made-200k-fart-jars-selling-them-as-nfts-2022-1A Black Box for the Earth:https://www.livescience.com/earth-black-box-records-planet-demiseThe Lickable TV:https://www.reuters.com/technology/lick-it-up-japan-professor-creates-tele-taste-tv-screen-2021-12-23/Roald Dahl:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roald_DahlLife on Venus?https://www.reuters.com/technology/lick-it-up-japan-professor-creates-tele-taste-tv-screen-2021-12-23/The Kids in the Hall Alien Probe Skit:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tZar4wRP40&t=3sHamsters are Booze Hounds:https://www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2021/12/alcohol-consumption-hamster-drunk/621125/Pope Says You Should Have Kids, Not Pets:https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/jan/05/pope-couples-choose-pets-children-selfishAnd yes, Bryan realizes that he mispronounced "Dostoevsky".This Week in Duh:https://certifiedintel.com/2022/01/new-study-finds-people-who-are-obsessed-with-celebrities-to-be-less-intelligent/Contact Info:Hate-mail, questions or topic ideas for the show, hit us up on twitter at @LiquoredUpLD or email us at liquoreduplowdown@gmail.com. This ep was recorded a few weeks ago during the height of the pandemic when Tommy Pope came over to the studio to record a pod and crush some craft beers. I really don't remember much once the Whiskey came out but I know Tommy is always a fun time. Enjoy

This episode of the Philly Music Podcast, we chat with the band Andorra. You may remember them from opening up one of our Radio 104.5 Summer Block Parties, the 10th Birthday Show, or even further back than that. We've been watching them develop as a band over the past few years and like the progression they are making - the guys were really pretty young when they first came onto our radar. The band is currently made up of Kevin McCall, Jordan Petrellis, Michael Trycieckyj, and Dante DiLoreto.Their latest album, "What You Wanted, What You Got," is kind of a coming-of-age record that addresses universal topics many of us can relate to, like leaving home and moving out on your own for the first time, having expectations and how they lead to disappointments, family, friends, love, rejection, drinking and much more. Listen to the interview with Kevin McCall and Michael Trycieckyj below as they talk about the lyrical and musical inspirations for some of the songs and how they evolved over time. They talk about some of their other musical projects, and using the theremin in some of their songs. Plus, find out the boozehounds' favorite drinks and the story behind their hilarious #SaintMichael and #WheresDante mega twitter epic tale.
