It's Tuesday, October 28th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson South African government regulating churches Earlier this month, the South African government agency, known as the Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Rights Commission, launched a committee to regulate churches in the country. The new committee will most likely make determinations as to “what qualifies as a religion,” who may be recognized as a religious leader, and where churches may worship. The concern is also that this governmental power would force churches to come under State-approved umbrella bodies. The nation's churches have scheduled a march to the Parliament building in Cape Town, the capital of South Africa, on November 13th. South Africa rejects self-defense as reason to own a gun The South African Parliament is also considering additional restrictions on firearms to remove “self-defense” as a valid reason to own a gun. This would remove meaningful protection for families, farms, and churches from violent criminals, in one of the most violent nations on Earth. The Communists and the left-leaning African National Congress have 51% control of the South African parliament. Turmoil in Chinese Communist Party The Chinese Communist government is still in turmoil. At this moment, 38 of the 205 members of the central committee failed to appear for the big Plenum session last week. Of the 33 generals on the Committee, 22 were missing. Trump to meet with Chinese president Xi Jinping on Asian tour President Donald Trump met with Japan's newly elected Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi yesterday. This week, he will move on to high level meetings in South Korea and China, with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday. The White House announced that President Trump has signed historic peace deals with Cambodia and Thailand, trade deals with Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam, and minerals deals with Malaysia and Thailand. Javier Milei's mid-term election triumph in Argentina The results for Argentina's mid-term elections are in. And Javier Milei's Libertarian Party crushed it, reports Reuters. Now, Milei's party has 41% control of the legislature which is up from 26% in 2023. The left wing party dropped off from 44% to 32% which is an 11% decline. Milei's agenda will have stronger legislative backing for more reforms in tax reduction and deregulation of business for the country. Bolivia rejects socialism And, by God's sovereign order of things, Bolivia has a new president as of last week, reports CBS News. Rodrigo Paz is more centrist — a change after 20 years of socialism in this mountainous country of South America. Not surprisingly, socialist countries like Venezuela and Bolivia are the poorest countries in all of South America. King Charles III glorified sodomy King Charles III of England glorified homosexuality yesterday by placing flowers at a newly constructed memorial to homosexuals serving in the nation's military, reports The Times. Prince Charles's mentor and uncle, Lord Louis Mountbatten, served as Britain's Chief of Defense in the 1960s, and was reported in 2019 as “a homosexual with a perversion for young boys.” King Charles III joined Pope Leo XIV for worship King Charles III made other news headlines last week, when he participated in a public worship service with the Roman Catholic Pope Leo XIV. This was the first time a reigning British monarch joined the Pope for such events since the Reformation. King Charles and his wife, Camilla, sat on golden thrones under Michelangelo's "Last Judgment" fresco in the Sistine Chapel for the ecumenical service. Joel 3 reminds us of God's judgement. “Let the nations be wakened, and come up to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; For there I will sit to judge all the surrounding nations. Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, go down; for the winepress is full, the vats overflow — for their wickedness is great.” Putin celebrates successful test of missile Russian President Vladimir Putin celebrated a successful test for the Burevestnik missile over the weekend, reports CBS News. Putin announced that the armament was ready for deployment, after it completed a 10,000-mile flight. Plus, according to the Russian military, the missile “successfully performed all designated vertical and horizontal maneuvers, demonstrating its strong ability to evade anti-missile and air defense systems.” Hurricane Melissa: Biggest one to hit Caribbean Category 5 Hurricane Melissa is barreling down on Jamaica. It's the strongest hurricane to hit the Caribbean nation in recorded history. America's most lethal aircraft carrier off Venezuelan coast Meanwhile, the U.S. Military is sending its most lethal aircraft carrier from European waters into the Caribbean for the ongoing drug war, now heating up somewhere off the shores of Venezuela, reports TheHill.com. The main target for the flurry of activity appears to be Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, whom the Trump administration has called an “illegitimate leader.” Appearing on CBS's Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina was asked about possible land strikes in Venezuela. BRENNAN: “Are land strikes planned?” GRAHAM: “Yeah, I think that's a real possibility. I think President Trump's made a decision that [Venezuelan President Nicolás] Maduro, the leader of Venezuela, is an indicted drug trafficker, that it's time for him to go. Venezuela and Colombia have been safe havens for ‘narco terrorists' for too long.” Oil likely will cost less in 2026 America's oil wells are pumping it out. Chevron CEO Mike Wirth told Fox Business host Maria Bartiroma, that gas prices in 2026 may very well be lower than they were this year. BARTIROMA: “Can you give us a sense of what you would expect for 2026?” WIRTH: “Yeah, I think we see supply growing, particularly from the OPEC-supplying countries, and demand growing steadily. But as this supply comes back, it's weighing on commodity markets. So, we're prepared for prices in ‘26 to be lower than they were in ‘25.” Christian pastors arrested for child p*rn And finally, assorted national news stories report that Christian pastors and leaders have been recently arrested for possession of extreme evil forms of pornography involving children. Singer and worship leader Jon Paul Sheptock, of First Montgomery Baptist Church, is under arrest, reports the Baptist Press. The Idaho Statesman reports that the senior pastor at Sovereign Grace Fellowship in Nampa, Idaho was arrested for handling images of a “horrific” nature. Another Baptist youth pastor from Greenville, South Carolina was just sentenced to twenty years for a similar offense. A pastor of the House of Prayer Christian Church in Georgia has been indicted by a federal court for similar offenses. And another former youth pastor at the Southcoast church in Goleta, California has been arrested on related charges. Jeremiah speaks of religious scandals in the churches. The prophet wrote, “My heart within me is broken because of the prophets. . . For the land is full of adulterers; For because of a curse the land mourns. The pleasant places of the wilderness are dried up. Their course of life is evil, and their might is not right. “For both prophet and priest are profane; Yes, in My house I have found their wickedness,” says the Lord. I will bring disaster on them, the year of their punishment.” (Jeremiah 23:9-12) Close And that's The Worldview on this Tuesday, October 28th, in the year of our Lord 2025. Justin Stapley and I have been on similar journeys these past many years seeking to better understand our worldviews and the ever-changing political moment and how best to restore sanity and integrity to our politics. But while I've been diligently producing podcast episodes for these past seven years, Justin has launched a dizzying array of projects. In his own words: There's an ongoing joke between myself and @svngelephants that every time I'm on his podcast, I've rebranded. And he's not necessarily wrong, lol. Here's the various blogs and efforts I've done since 2016... Never Tyranny was my first anonymous blog in 2016. I started writing while I was briefly working in the Global Services Center for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as I was transitioning from one police agency to another. Very much a 2016-esque #NeverTrump blog, with the moniker "Never Hillary, Never Trump, Never Tyranny." I was inspired to start writing after reading the "Against Trump" issue of National Review, an issue that also introduced me to a host of writers, most of them at @NRO at that time, that I continue to read to this day, such as @JonahDispatch, @DavidAFrench, KD Williamson, @EWErickson, and @jpodhoretz. As you can tell from the borrowed image from "Washington's Spies," this first blog was very unpolished as I kind of stumbled my toward becoming a better political writer. While this blog never really took off, I did get a small bump when Rush Limbaugh used the term "Never Tyranny" on his show, though he didn't use it in a anti-Trump context. After Donald Trump's 2016 victory, I wanted to transition to an anonymous identity that was positive and forward thinking, that was about what I was for as opposed to what I was just against. In my hopes that the Trump presidency would lead to a broader re-embrace of federalism across the spectrum, I chose to name my new blog "The Millennial Federalist" and began writing under this moniker in 2017. This blog was far more widely read than Never Tyranny was, and was well known among certain segments of the 2017 #NeverTrump movement. This blog became particularly attached to the short lived Federalist Party effort and it's mildly popular #FedUp hashtag, as well as to @RealFedCo (now defunct), where I first released articles under my real name. Sometime in 2018 and 2019, I decided I wanted to create a more collaborative effort and create a blog where liberty-minded conservatives could post articles and engage in debate and dialogue. My idea at the time was that libertarians and NeverTrump conservatives could come together and throw their weight behind a a candidate who could attempt to challenge Trump in the 2020 GOP primary and pivot to either an independent candidacy or get on the Libertarian Party ticket. This idea became what I chose to call the Liberty Hawk. Within the blog, I wrote under my own name and then hosted any other writers who wanted to be published there. (This effort was when I first became acquainted with @ConservaMuse, who published several articles at The Liberty Hawk in his senior year of high school). While my vision for a "fusion" candidate in 2020 came close to realization with @justinamash, the idea was thwarted both by Libertarians who refused to work with "statist" conservatives and by NeverTrump personalities and organizations who felt a strong third option would risk undermining Joe Biden. It was at this point that I broke from #NeverTrump because I didn't want to belong to an effort that boosted Democrats. Self-Evident was a moniker I used twice. First as my next effort after I transitioned away from The Liberty Hawk and then for the last year or so as well. In my frustration with the direction the #NeverTrump effort had taken, I pivoted in mid-2020 to the idea that I would involve myself less in direct political activism and instead focusing on illuminating the "self-evident" truths and first principles of free government. This was also when I began my first podcast, also called Self-Evident, but I only released episode intermittently, adding up to only 15 episodes over the course of several years. I blogged at Self-Evident and engaged online throughout 2022-2023 even while deployed to Kuwait and Syria with the Idaho National Guard. During my deployment, I completed by Bachelor's degree and envisioned returning home and starting a 501(c)3 with an associated publication. I attempted to follow through on this idea by founding and leading The Freemen Foundation and establishing The Freemen News-Letter. For a little over a year, I we published tremendously relevant and high quality articles from many figures across the conservative intellectual community. During most of this time, I worked full-time as the founding director and president of the foundation, and as editor in chief of the news-letter, but was only mildly compensated as we ran into the difficult realities of securing funding for such an audacious project. I chose to wrap up the effort late last year because I felt the excellent writers of the effort deserved compensation and deserved to have their articles more widely read. I also had returned to college to complete a Master's degree and could no longer commit the kind of time I had been committing. And that brings us fully up to date with my newest project, The Conservative Underground. Less audacious in scope than the Freemen Foundation, but hopefully still incredibly impactful. I'll be publishing a weekly podcast and weekly newsletter moving forward under this banner. https://conservativeunderground.substack.com/ https://www.youtube.com/@ConservativeUnderground Clearly, an intervention is in order. In this bonus, cross-over episode Justin and I explore the paths that brought us to where we are today and where we might be headed.

On this episode, Jason and Matt are joined by their close friend Luis Fernando Mises, along with Jennifer Gillis and Misty Brown, two tireless advocates with the American Kratom Association. Together, we dive deep into the criminalization of kratom — from Louisiana's looming ban to the federal government's quiet war on natural medicine. Luis Fernando Mises is a consultant who teaches leadership across the U.S., a yoga and meditation teacher, a student of Austrian economics, a statesman with the Libertarian Party, a curandero, an entrepreneur, and a family man. He also runs a successful kratom business and brings rare clarity on both the plant and the marketplace. Misty Brown is a fierce kratom advocate and consumer who uses her voice to protect whole-leaf kratom and keep it legal and safe. Her work is personal — helping others fight addiction, chronic pain, anxiety, and depression. Jennifer Gillis has lived with chronic pain for 19 years. After finding real relief through kratom six years ago, she became a dedicated advocate, educator, and truth-teller who supports efforts to keep kratom accessible for all. We begin with the Louisiana ban, where Misty reveals troubling claims of bribery between a sheriff and a rehab clinic pushing the ban behind closed doors. From there, we move to the federal level — breaking down the media's obsession with 7-OH (a lab-concentrated alkaloid being falsely labeled as “kratom”) and how it's fueling disinformation, addiction, and panic. Luis gives clear and grounded advice on avoiding dangerous gas station extracts and choosing safe, whole-leaf kratom instead. We then explore the FDA's alliance with Big Pharma, RFK Jr.'s recent crackdown on 7-OH, and how this could pave the way for a nationwide ban. We dive into Scott Gottlieb's ties to GlaxoSmithKline, the push for synthetic patents, and the blatant monopolization of nature. Then we bring it home with a hard look at the horrors of prohibition through the heartbreaking stories of Shaina Brown and Marshall Price, two innocent people whose lives were upended — and in one case, ended — over this plant. We close with each guest offering real solutions and a final word of encouragement to the millions of Americans who use kratom safely, responsibly, and with purpose. This is a must-listen for anyone who cares about bodily autonomy, plant medicine, and the rising tide of pharmaceutical control. Host Cody Cook sits down with Paul Darr, Vice Chair of the Libertarian National Committee, to explore the current state and future direction of the Libertarian Party. Darr shares his journey from foster care to military service, shaping his libertarian views through personal experiences with state overreach and incompetence. He discusses efforts to heal internal party divisions, particularly between the Mises and Classical Liberal Caucuses, emphasizing unity through shared goals like ballot access, membership growth, and coalition-building legislative initiatives such as Defend the Guard. Darr advocates for modernizing outreach, reviving Project Archimedes, and focusing on local elections to build a stronger foundation. Addressing Christian listeners, he frames libertarianism as a Christ-like pursuit of voluntary cooperation, urging active engagement to dismantle state coercion. With a nod to past leaders like Harry Browne, Darr outlines a pragmatic yet principled vision for a healthier, more effective Libertarian Party, ready to challenge the political duopoly.Audio Production by Podsworth Media - https://podsworth.com ★ Support this podcast ★

In Episode 450 of the Survival Punk Podcast, I'm laying it out straight: I no longer call myself a libertarian — and here's why. This isn't about giving up on freedom, individual responsibility, or small government. It's about recognizing that the libertarian movement, and especially the Libertarian Party, has lost the plot — and I'm not interested in being associated with it anymore.

"Why I No Longer Call Myself a Libertarian | Episode 450" The post Why I No Longer Call Myself a Libertarian | Episode 450 appeared first on Survivalpunk.
Elon Musk recently claimed that he will be challenging politicians who supported the spending in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act and might start his own party based on opposing reckless spending. The billionaire even ended up debating the philosopher Nick Land on the issue. Could Musk's third party succeed where the Libertarian Party has failed? The Prudentialist joins me to discuss. So what, exactly, is libertarianism? Spike Cohen, the Libertarian Party's 2020 vice presidential nominee, boils it down to "the principle of human respect"—treating people as individuals, not as what he calls "tax cattle." Speaking from FreedomFest in Palm Springs, the founder of You Are The Power offers a scathing critique of both major parties while exposing what he calls a federal funding scheme that encourages states to separate children from their families. From defending controversial Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht to challenging Big Tech monopolies, Cohen argues that government overreach—not lack of regulation—creates the very problems politicians claim to solve. And then, of course, there's Donald Trump who spoke at last year's FreedomFest. According to Cohen, Trump has betrayed his libertarian supporters by increasing both government spending and debt by more than almost all of his predecessors. For all his libertarian promises, Cohen argues, Trump is now amongst the most dangerous exponents of big government overreach. Five Takeaways1. Libertarianism as "Human Respect" Cohen defines libertarianism not as chaos, but as "the principle of human respect"—allowing individuals to make their own choices as long as they don't violate others' lives, rights, or property. Government should treat citizens as people, not "tax cattle."2. Big Government Creates Big Business Contrary to progressive solutions, Cohen argues that regulatory capture by large corporations is the root cause of "Big Pharma," "Big Tech," and other monopolistic industries. More regulation protects incumbents; less regulation enables competition.3. Trump Betrayed Libertarian Voters Despite campaigning on reducing government, Trump grew spending and debt more than most predecessors. Cohen credits Trump for freeing Ross Ulbricht but argues his first term should have warned voters about his true governing philosophy.4. Federal Funding Drives Family Separation Cohen's "You Are the Power" organization exposes how Title IV-D incentivizes states to remove children from families—receiving more money for accusations, removals, and permanent separations, especially involving chronically ill children.5. Direct Action Over Electoral Politics After getting just 1% in 2020, Cohen shifted from campaigns to grassroots activism, claiming 100% success in specific cases by mobilizing public pressure on government officials through targeted advocacy.Spike Cohen is a successful business owner, Libertarian activist, and media figure. He is the Founder and President of You Are The Power, a nonprofit focused on using solutions-oriented activism to grow the Liberty movement. Spike started a web design company as a teenager in 1998. In 2017, he retired from web design to focus on effective political messaging, entertainment, and activism. This culminated with him becoming Libertarian candidate for Vice President in 2020, where he traveled across the nation by plane and bus, meeting countless Americans and sharing the message of Liberty with them. Spike is a tireless advocate for freedom with a commitment to help grow the movement at the grassroots level, training candidates and activists in positive and principled messaging to explain libertarian ideas to everyday Americans, and working with elected officials to implement common-sense reforms to improve people's lives. Since the 2020 election, Spike has become a regular guest on cable news networks, nationally syndicated radio, international media outlets, and podcasts across the globe.Named as one of the "100 most connected men" by GQ magazine, Andrew Keen is amongst the world's best known broadcasters and commentators. Pat Wright is a San Diego native and a lifelong advocate for liberty and individual rights. My journey with the Libertarian Party began in 1980, working on the Ed Clark presidential campaign. Since then, I've taken on both political and activist roles to fight government overreach and champion personal freedom. Libertarian Party Leadership & Campaigns 1984: Ran for Congress against the corrupt and disgraced Duncan Hunter. 1980s-1990s: Challenged corrupt establishment politicians, including Mike Gotch, who claimed he wouldn't take developer money—until he did. 1986-1996 (approx.): Served as Chair of the San Diego Libertarian Party, where I also ran the San Diego Libertarian Supper Club, bringing libertarians together for strategy and community. 1991-1993: Elected Chairman of the Libertarian Party of California, where we doubled membership and built a solid, action-oriented organization. 2002: Ran for Lieutenant Governor with the ballot title “Ferret Legalization Coordinator”—a fun fight that confused state officials, especially when it came to translating it into Mandarin. Ferret Advocacy & Activism After my second term as LPC Chair, I founded Ferrets Anonymous, leading the charge to legalize ferrets in California, one of only two states that still bans them. Decades later, I'm still at it, working through legal, legislative, and grassroots channels to get the job done. You can see my work at legalizeferrets.org. Running a nonprofit membership organization for over 30 years has given me invaluable experience—something I'll carry into revitalizing the Libertarian Party of California. What I'm Doing Now Currently, I'm semi-retired, though California's broken policies have made that challenging. After inheriting a duplex, I saw my property tax increase by 1,000% due to Proposition 19—and after three years of red tape, I still couldn't get a building permit. A successful retirement? That would've been nice. Now, I joke that I'm training to be a Walmart greeter instead.

Dave Crance: Libertarian Candidate for Virginia House of Delegates Dave Crance is a dedicated Libertarian and community leader running for the Virginia House of Delegates in District 13, encompassing Falls Church and parts of Fairfax County. A resident of the area for over 25 years, Crance has deep roots in Northern Virginia, where he lives with his wife, Suman, and their children. He is active in the local Chamber of Commerce serving on its Board, the American legion and VFW where he serves in the roll of Chaplain, and has coached youth sports in multiple local leagues. His commitment to individual liberty, limited government, and community service defines his campaign and Libertarian philosophy. Crance's journey to libertarianism is grounded in his belief in self-ownership, private property rights, and the non-aggression principle—core tenets of the Libertarian Party. He advocates for a government that is as limited and localized as possible, prioritizing individual freedoms over the influence of special interests, corporations, or national political parties. Crance has stated, “One of the few things all libertarians agree on is that in a perfect world there would be no need for Government at all, but as such a world doesn't exist, Government should remain as limited and localized as possible belonging to the people.” His platform emphasizes lowering taxes, protecting local institutions, such as school boards and councils from overreach by state or national politics, ensuring that decisions about education and community matters remain non partisan and in the hands of local residents.

Kinsella on Liberty Podcast: Episode 462. I previously appeared on Joshua Smith's Break the Cycle, in July 2021 (KOL349 | CouchStreams Ep 58 on Break the Cycle with Joshua Smith). I had forgotten but we also did a short "CouchStreams After Hours" segment for subscribers which was, and still is, behind a paywall. We discussed various things—my scooter ride with Antony Sammeroff in Austin and travels with Sammeroff the previous months (see KOL330 | Lift Talks #2 With Kinsella & Sammeroff and KOL329 | Lift Talks #1 With Kinsella & Sammeroff), skiing accidents while skiing with Sammeroff, my joining the Libertarian Party, the Mises Caucus, loser brigade libertarians and the Hoppe photo with Michael Malice's helicopter gift (see below), when I was offered a job at Cato, when I was Disinvited From Cato, and so on. Mises Caucus and Libertarian Party Dynamics (9:42 - 18:36) Stephan and Joshua discuss their support for the Mises Caucus, aiming to steer the Libertarian Party toward radical, Rothbardian principles, and critique past candidates like Gary Johnson for lacking libertarian conviction. Cato Institute and Cancel Culture (19:34 - 21:12) Stephan shares a story of being disinvited from a Cato Institute IP debate, highlighting their reluctance to engage with Mises-aligned libertarians, and notes Cato's payment to reimburse his ticket as a form of preemptive cancellation. Closing and Contact Information (24:54 - 25:42) Stephan thanks Joshua for the interview, mentions joining his Patreon, and provides his website (stephankinsella.com) and social media handles (nskinsella) for further engagement.
