First the show starts off with a review of the 2025 Aston Martin DBX 707, a ultra-high-performance exotic from one of the top British automakers. Faced with all kinds of inclement weather during his testing, Benjamin has a thorough take on this hyper SUV, and comes to a decisive conclusion about it, especially in comparison to some other high-hp SUVs out there. Then Sami offers several impressions of the 2025 Acura MDX A-Spec, which gets a mild exterior refresh and some important interior changes too. While the vehicle feels responsive with a well-tuned powertrain and ride, Sami says it fails to make an impact in a very competitive segment. The guys also jump through a few thoughts about in-car audio systems, and if 31 speakers is too many or just enough. Thanks for listening!

Today I'm going to show you some real-life examples of what you could do with $1000 in the stock market in 2025. We'll talk about how to draw support and resistance lines, how to identify a rolling stock, and how to know when you should buy and sell a stock. The tickers I'm going to be talking about today include DBX, MSFT, PANW, ANET, CRWD, VRTX, ARM, FTAI, TMHC, ERPT, CCL, and GPK. There are a lot of financial benefits to trading with options instead of stocks. And you may not know what I mean by that, but you can go out to tradeway.com and learn all about how to do that there. Options cost less, and can generate more profitable trades with better risk/reward trade-offs. I'm a huge fan of them. Welcome to your weekly UAS news update, we have 3 stories for you this week: DJI Dock 2 Release, Hylio gets approval for drone swarms, and DroneUp announces new delivery system. First up is DJI's new Dock 2. The Dock 2 is a smaller more compact version of the DJI dock, with similar capabilities. The Dock 2 is 75% smaller and 68% lighter than the Dock 1, and comes with two available aircraft. DJI also released the Matrice 3D and 3DT with the Dock 2, allowing for nearly any mission to be completed using the Dock system. The Matrice 3D is set up much like the Mavic 3 Enterprise, with a 4/3 CMOS wide camera and a 1/2” CMOS tele camera. The Matrice 3DT mimics the Mavic 3 Enterprise Thermal, with a 1/1.32” CMOS wide camera, a 1/2” CMOS tele camera, and a 640x512 Thermal camera. Batteries on both aircraft are advertised to last for 50 minutes and for 400 charge cycles. DJI also advertised that the control of the docks was through US Based AWS servers for maximum security. Let us know in the comments what you think about this new dock! https://enterprise.dji.com/dock-2?site=enterprise&from=nav https://dronexl.co/2024/03/26/dji-unveils-dock-2-automated-drone-ops/ Next up, Hylio has gotten approval to operate drone swarms! Hylio makes several spray drones from small 2.5 gallon up to 18 gallon drones. Prices range from $18,000 to $56,000 respectively, with additional accessories further increasing the price. Hylio's latest FAA approval allows them to operate several drones larger than 55lbs simultaneously. It's unclear the specifics of the waiver/authorization but this is a pretty huge breakthrough for those working in agriculture. https://dronexl.co/2024/03/26/faa-green-light-agricultural-drone-swarms/ Last up is DroneUp. DroneUp this week released a locker system, called the DBX, that will replace the operations centers currently in use. The DBX acts as a location that a company can use to send packages out of, with a capacity of up to 50 packages per hour. A drone then delivers the package to the customer and returns to a different location to either charge or to get a battery swap. This allows a network of drones to operate from a “Hub” and pick up packages at stores and other locations to deliver to customers. What do you think about this? Let us know in the comments! https://www.droneup.com/introducing-the-droneup-ecosystem https://dronexl.co/2024/03/26/droneup-autonomous-drone-delivery/ Alright, that's it, have a great weekend and we'll see you next week on Monday for the live!

This piece of technology is described as having three sections: a preamp, a filter, and an inbuilt compressor, which work together to produce a unique mix. Additionally, discussions highlight the Portcaster Vo Vo, a tool favored by content creators for its ability to switch from mono to stereo. The final product, Passport VO, an item with an inbuilt card recorder that can record and playback without clipping, is introduced and admired for its sturdy metal casing and ease of use for those with a basic understanding of audio. The hosts conclude with news of limited availability for the first batch of the technology and the upcoming guest appearance from Michael at Sentrance. #ProAudioUnboxing #EnglishChannelAudioStudio #PodcastTechTalks Timestamps (00:00:00) Show Introduction (00:00:46) Audio Studio in a Box (00:05:27) Unit Power and USB Input (00:10:12) Portcaster XLM 103 Analysis (00:16:00) Passport VO Microphone Switch (00:23:47) Michael's Experience with Sentrance (00:28:47) Difficulty Quoting Dates (00:31:35) Conclusion & Final Thoughts Transcript Speaker A: And here we are again with another show. And we have another unboxing, something very special. And Robo's a very lucky boy.,Speaker B: Welcome.,Speaker C: Hi. Hi. Hello, everyone to the pro audio suite.,Speaker B: These guys are professional and motivated with tech. To the VO stars, George Wittam, founder of Source Element Robert Marshall, international audio engineer Darren Robbo Robertson and global voice Andrew Peters. Thanks to Triboo, Austrian audio making passion heard source elements George the Tech Wittam and Robbo and AP's international demo. To find out more about us, check ThePro Audiosuite.com.,: What you got, Robo?,Speaker C: I've got a little black box of magic.,: What did you get that I didn't get way down under before you'd ship it across the country. What the heck?,Speaker C: Very early Christmas present. And it's very cool. Can you see the black box? It's like a flight recorder. That was my first impression. It was like, whoa, what's this?,: It's very cool. Nice little kit. So what's this thing called?,Speaker C: And it's rock solid. It's called the English Channel. It's an audio studio in a box, effectively. So if we crack it open, there's this piece of magic inside. And I'm guessing that we can all.,: See that there's three separate units, is what I'm seeing.,Speaker C: Yeah. So there's three of Sentrance's units. All. Well, they're not linked together at the moment because you need to do that with these XLRs and USB connectors at the bottom. But it's very simple. Gotcha. Which we'll talk through in a minute. Effectively, you've got your pre and effects. So in the soapbox is your gain and your high pass, low pass filter, all that sort of stuff. There's a gate.,: So the soapbox is the preamp.,Speaker C: The soapbox is your preamp. So your mic goes into here and then it joins it. Daisy chains across the top to the others. But in the soapbox. Yeah, there's your high and your lowest pass filters, your 48 and your pad. And then you've got your gain, obviously, and a dry, wet mix for your effects, which we'll get to in a sec, including the gate, which is here, and a Deesser. And also the option to check to select the frequency the DS is working on, which I think is the bit of magic. You've also got an inbuilt compressor, which obviously is using a preset knee and ratio and all that sort of stuff. But from testing it out with AP the other week when it turned up, it's actually, not too bad. Used in moderation, and also when used in conjunction with the mix knob. So wet is full on wet. For those who are not sure what a mix knob is, full on wet is everything working at its capacity. But then when you use the mix knob and you start bringing it back towards dry, that processed effect is being mixed with the original signal coming in from the microphone.,: Interesting, because that is not a knob that most people are going to have in their signal chain. Like you have a single rack piece of gear. Let's say it's a channel strip. I'm thinking of a DBX 286. I know he's thinking of that piece of gear a lot when he developed a soapbox. The signal goes left to right, it goes preamp, then it goes through each thing in that sequence, and then it comes out the other end and it's all wet. You can't blend it. Here you have a blend, which gives you an interesting level of creativity in terms of controlling all that.,Speaker C: That's right. So even if you find that you've got to wind up the compression a bit more to get whatever the desired effect is you're looking for, you can still manage that, micromanage that by sort of then playing with your mix to get it just right, which is kind of clever. So I'm really impressed with that. I thought that.,: So that first box of soapbox has a preamp.,Speaker C: Yeah, has your preamp.,: It has a high pass filter.,Speaker C: High pass and low pass.,: Actually, no, just high pass.,Speaker C: Just a high pass. And then something called High Z. Oh.,: High Z would be for a guitar. Yeah, because it's got a high Z combo.,Speaker C: That's right. Well, that's the other thing, actually. Yeah. You can use this as a DI, but we'll get to that, I guess.,: And then it's got 2 meters. Is one an input meter and one an output meter? Yeah.,Speaker C: So one's an input meter and one's an out. But it's also showing you. Well. Yeah, so you can see your compression working, basically. You can sort of see what's coming in and what's going out when you're dialing in your compressor, which is kind of nice.,: Got it. And what are the three little lights across the top? Looks like? There's three LEDs.,Speaker C: So that's just showing you when your gate's working, when your gates kicking in and out. Then your compressor. Your compressor and your DS are working.,: XLR mail output. Is that right? Is there a dial on the back?,Speaker C: There's a switch there. There's your on off switch? I'm back here. Yes. So that's just your brightness of those lights back there that you can see.,: Okay.,Speaker C: So you can sort of make those a bit brighter or a bit duller.,: Oh that's cool.,Speaker C: Yeah, very cool. So then using the XLRs we then daisy chain from the soapbox into the black cab, which is his EQ.,: Does it come with cute little XLR?,Speaker C: It does actually. In fact we should have gone through that first in here. He's thought of everything. Can I just say, he's really switched on with this. You've got your little short XLRs in here which is very cool. So if we were putting this together we would be sort of daisy chaining from there to there like that, which is kind of cool. And then from there to the port caster. So you've got two of those all packed away and in nice little padded pouches too. Can I just say? And then in the other one, which is also very nice, we have the USBC connectors because the power also daisy chains. So the power comes into the soapbox and then using these USBs you can daisy chain to each of the other boxes. And he also gives you two USB C's for the power in and also one to go back to your computer interface, whatever it is you're using as well.,: Okay, so each one of these units needs power and they each have a USB input for power. But you don't need to have three power supplies then.,Speaker C: No. So you just use the shorter USBCs that he's provided like those XLRs and just daisy chain through each one. He's also given the long ones as well. But the nice thing that I think is really clever is if you haven't got USBC. He's also included the adapters for normal USB which is sort of nice.,: Nice.,Speaker C: So he's thought of everything.,: Not everybody does that product where I actually opened up a sound devices mix pre three for a client a couple of weeks ago. It's not a cheap unit, 600 $700 unit and there was no adapter and I was dead in the water until I went and got the right.,Speaker C: And isn't that the frustrating part? You get this cool piece of equipment like this land on your desk and you're like oh shit, I got to wait till I can get to it.,: Cost here so little for a manufacturer to throw those adapters, give you that extra thing and it's nice. I'm really glad he thinks of that.,Speaker C: Yeah, I was really impressed. Into the black cab is the next little box and you've got high mids and lows.,: Three band sweep.,Speaker C: Three bands, sweethearts, sweepable. They actually sound quite nice. And then again, up the top, you've got your high pass air, which is, I would presume, extra high. And you've got a pad and you've got a bypass as well. So if you don't want to put your EQ in there, listen up, voiceover artists, you can bypass that.,: Is there a hard bypass?,Speaker C: Yeah, that's his switch. Switch, yeah, it's a switch. And that's the other thing that he included in here, which I have to say, these switches are all sort of recessed into the top. But he includes one of those little metal things he used. The SIM card tool. Yeah, he includes one of those. So you can get in there and you don't have to use your pen or whatever else you can get in there with that and switch them on and off as well, Michael.,: So if you do want to bypass it on the fly, it's not something where it's just a button. You do have to kind of. You got to use the little pick to.,Speaker C: You do switch that? Yeah, you do. Or a toothpick or a pen or whatever, a paperclip, whatever you can get your hands on.,: Yeah.,Speaker C: So that's kind of nice. I think the only thing that I missed on here was a low shelf and a high shelf for me. These are all your sort of curves as opposed to an actual shelf.,: They're all bells.,Speaker C: Yeah, but again, bell shaped. That's right. Yeah, I said curve. But you get my point. Exactly. But I guess realistically, if you were doing a voice, you probably wouldn't be using the EQ section anyway. Well, I hope you wouldn't be.,Speaker A: Well, the other thing is, I don't think it's not targeted for someone like me. That's overkill and stuff on there. I would never use.,Speaker C: Yeah, true.,: Where I would see it being useful if somebody had it would be for making a small correction. So if you don't have quite the right mic, there's a lot of people that have a Neumann TLM 103 that shouldn't have one. And that mic is very upper. It's got a big upper shelf on it. I mean, it has quite a bit of a sibilance peak. And there's a lot of women who are being told to use that mic for some reason, or their friends have one and they go buy that mic and it's just really sibilant. So to be able to go in there and then smooth out that shelf with an EQ and just leave it, set it and forget it would be pretty sweet. That's where I could see the EQ coming into play. Or if you're in a small booth and the low end is not quite well controlled, you haven't done a good job of eqing the room or you did your best and it's still boomy. Having a little way to sculpt the low end would be helpful.,Speaker C: I told you George would know.,: Yeah.,Speaker C: Yes.,: So the soapbox.,Speaker C: The black cab middle one. Yep, the black cab.,: The black cab. And then it goes into the.,Speaker C: Really, for the content creators out there, this is the really sexy and useful part of this thing, is you obviously have your mic that you've plugged in down onto the soapbox. You have that come in here and that's been through your processing chain, but in sort of shades of the passport Vo. You can also plug in your phone to here.,: I happen to have a Portcaster pro, by the way, and I love it.,Speaker C: Yeah.,: When I do it is awesome because of that phone patch functionality, the onboard recording, I mean, I'm using it for me. I'm using it as a field recorder for DOing field reporting, doing video interviews where I want to capture the audio in super high quality. I also used it in the video we did a while ago where we were at the. Actually, I don't think we did it for our show, but I did some videos recently that I posted@Vocalbooth.com, where I was inside the vocal booth. And in the video, if you happen to see it, you'll see me holding something in my hand. And that's the Portcaster. Yeah.,Speaker C: Right. Yeah, I saw it.,: To get a super high quality recording right off of the microphones we were using in the. Yeah, that's.,Speaker C: And when we see the rest of it, the question would be, why wouldn't you? Because you also got another mic input that can come into there. You've got a mono stereo blend. Now, I didn't play with this, George, because. So maybe you can give me a bit more. You could be a bit clearer about my understanding, and maybe I've got it wrong. But if you have two mics, does the mono stereo split them? Is that what I'm doing? If it's in mono, I'm hearing them both in both ears. But if I wind up the stereo, is it putting one in one ear and one in the other? Is that what I'm doing?,: Yeah, it's an interesting design choice. I mean that Michael did it. Because when it's in mono, it's just a mono mix of left and right. Everything comes down the middle. As you turn towards stereo, it now starts to separate them into a stereo channel.,Speaker C: So it's like a pan.,: And that's kind of unusual. Usually you either have mono or you have stereo. And here you have a knob. So you have anywhere from Mono to stereo.,Speaker C: Does that affect what's going out? Does that affect my output from here? Or is it only what I'm listening to?,: So that affects what goes to the line output. So if you're plugging it into a phone or a camera, and I believe it also affects what goes to the USB output that goes to the computer.,Speaker C: Because if you were doing a line.,: I think it affects all three, the recording, the line out and the USB.,Speaker C: Because if you were doing a live broadcast or something with this thing, that would make sense. Because me being me, I like to pan our show so that everybody's got their own little space. If you were doing a live broadcast, you could do that with here as well, I guess.,: Yeah. Or if you just want to have full separation of your two mic channels. Full left pan. Right, full left and right pan. You just turn that all the way to the right. And now your mic two is on channel two.,Speaker C: There you go. And you've got your separation. If you want to do it in post later on or whatever. Yeah, very nice.,: And I like that because the really basic interfaces, like the Scarlets and SSL Two s and the like, there is no option. Channel one is track one left. Channel two is track two right, period. So now you get a mixer where you can actually blend them and set them the way you want.,Speaker C: Yeah, very cool.,Speaker A: That's nice.,Speaker C: That's good. Your auxiliaries, there's two of. So you've got your mix of those down here. And then obviously volume, which is your monitoring. And what I missed up the top, which is also kind of nice, is you've got a limiter on both the XLR inputs, actually. I also think you can also put that limiter across your phone, by the looks of it, as well.,: Yeah, you know what? That's a darn good question. I don't know if the limiter circuit includes the phone patch function or if it's only for the preamp. I never saw the diagram and I haven't tested it. I have used all those functions, but I didn't notice whether the.,Speaker C: I'm presuming that it might affect the phone because it's on the same sort of eyesight level as that switch between the microphone and the phone. So might not.,: Yeah, we'd have to look at a signal flow diagram. When we designed the passport VO, that was a huge part of our time was spent scrutinizing, tweaking and adjusting the signal flow diagram to figure out where the switch is, where the knob is, where is each single piece in the signal flow as it goes. Know I'll take my opportunity to use this product here to promote our product. The reason we created Passport VO is because as feature riches of what this thing is that Robo is holding here, because this does things ours isn't going to, you know, three fully sweepable EQ bands Deesser things like that. But the reason we made the passport was there are really nuanced, interesting things we wanted to do with the signal path. We wanted to be able to have a separate return from the computer and have that be recordable or send that back to the headphones or whatever.,Speaker C: Right.,: So that was a huge part of the design. So it would be interesting to see. I'm sure Michael will say, oh, no, of course, I did it this way because this makes the most sense.,Speaker C: That's right. Given the attention to detail with everything else that's in this packet, it wouldn't surprise me that the limiter was across both of. So then the rest of the power of this beast is on the bottom down here for me, which is. And again, you'll probably expand more on what I've been able to play with in the short amount of time I've had it. But you have an inbuilt card recorder, right? So the micro SD, so you can record, you can play back off that. And I presume that only plays back to your headphones and not out the USB would be my guess.,: That does sound correct to me. There are things I use my unit for that I've done with it and I've never tried playing and then recording USB and seeing if it comes out. I don't think that it does that.,Speaker C: It would be very cool if it did. It would be very cool. I'd be well chuffed with Michael if he thought of that. But, yeah, maybe not. So then you've got the power daisy chain over that side and then the USB on the other side is your output back to your computer. 48 volts, obviously, monitoring in stereo mono, and a high and low output selector. What am I thinking of, George?,: What's the word? Oh, yeah, that's the line output pad switch. So if you're plugging this into a line level signal recorder. Let's say you plug it into, I don't know, some cameras and some devices can take a line level and other cameras can only take mic level. So having that switch means that if you plug this into your handicam, your DSLR, whatever your camera is, as long as you have it on low, you won't clip the input of the camera and distort the hell out of the audio.,Speaker C: Yeah, right.,: How many times have you seen like some low budget video production or TV where the audio is completely over modulated because they're shoving a mixer signal into their camera input, which is a mic input.,Speaker C: Yeah, exactly.,: It's designed to take this mic, plug that with an adapter to an 8th inch jack and plug it into the camera. That's what it's for.,Speaker C: Exactly. Yeah.,: So this can output either level without clipping.,Speaker A: So who do you think this is targeting? Robo?,: Yeah, that's a great question.,Speaker C: Who do I think it's targeting? I think definitely sort of content creators at home who maybe don't want to invest in a door or an expensive door or plugins or whatever, just want to be able to record and edit and spit it out. So it gives them the flexibility to add some of those features that are in here, the compression and the gating and all that sort of stuff. The thing that occurred to me after 35 years in radio is that outside broadcasting for radio, this thing would be perfect because you can plug your announcer mic in. You've got a guest mic should you need it. And you could use the phone return, or you could use the auxiliary input to monitor what's happening in the studio. So you can hear your music, you can hear the commercials, you can hear the callers coming in. But you could be sitting outside your local.,: Can be the return from the studio. Exactly.,Speaker C: You could be sitting outside your local store who's having a promotion that day doing your radio broadcast with basically just this and a laptop with a source connect connection. Hello.,: To me is the killer app for this thing. Is using it for Field broadcast?,Speaker C: Yeah, absolutely.,: Awesome. For field broadcast. Absolutely. I also see it being accompanying a musician when they're traveling. They might want to run their guitar rig through this, or they might want to capture their stage kit, or they might want to use it in the room, their hotel room, to do jamming or practicing or laying down tracks or there's a lot of interesting ways to use it. I certainly don't see the typical voice actor using a full blown channel strip or an EQ like that. Probably not typically, if you happen to be a producer or engineer and you know how to fine tune that stuff, then maybe. Or if you got one and you had me or Robert or Robo tuning it for you, like, all right, let's add a little bit more of the low know, which I do that occasionally. I talk people through on Zoom or whatever, and I explain how to adjust everything. Source connect is really the best because you can hear the absolute detail. And then I can have somebody adjust the knobs on their unit. That's where this thing could be really killer.,Speaker C: It really is. Well, it's actually more than that. It's a three, four channel console in a box, really, because you got your mic input and then you've got your couple of other line inputs and all that sort of stuff that you can play around with as well. So it's basically a tiny console in a box, really.,: I meant to ask you, I know the Portcaster is USB power or battery power. The other two units require power, correct?,Speaker C: Yeah, they both require power, which comes from that daisy chaining sort of thing.,: Right.,Speaker C: And then the other cool thing, just as an aside, and I guess, for whatever reason, let's say I was going to record somewhere, and all I needed was the podcaster. When you flip these things over, you can unscrew them, and you don't need a screwdriver or anything. You can unscrew them and you can.,: Just take the one you bolted to the tree.,Speaker C: That's right. So you can just. Okay, I need the port caster, but I don't need anything else. So I'm just going to take that, throw that in my bag with a microphone, and I'm off. And my phone or whatever. He's thought of everything. I'm so impressed. It's very cool and very clever.,Speaker A: And what's the build quality?,Speaker C: It's really heavy. It's chunky. It's sturdy. These are all metal, the cases, by the feel of them.,: How do the Pot knobs feel? Do they have a nice.,Speaker C: And they're really comfortable to use. And they're not stiff. Stiff, but they're not so loose that you could just bump them, which is kind of nice, given that you'll be sort of moving it around a bit, I would imagine, and all that sort of stuff you can sort of almost set and forget. Like, you could do your setting before you left home. You might have to tweak it a little bit when you get somewhere. But I would imagine if you put it in the case and close the lid, you could arrive where you wanted to get to and it would still be set to where you were without being. Having been.,: Is this your first time hands on with sentrance equipment?,Speaker C: Yeah. I'd never heard of Sentrance until we started talking to them about the passport.,: I take it for granted because I've been dealing with or using Sentrance gear since 2009.,Speaker C: Yeah, right. Well, there you go.,: I'm really accustomed to the build quality and what they are. So it's cool that you're finally getting your hands on one because you're basically feeling by holding the podcaster you're going to feel exactly what the passport is going to feel like.,Speaker C: Man, I'll be sharing the love down here. I'll be honest with you. This thing is incredible. To finish off what else is in the bag. Which sort of just again, goes to show how much thought's gone into this.,: Thinking of everything. Yeah.,Speaker C: I mean he sent, this is now it's Us and he can't cover all countries. But there's your little plug which you can see, which is a US plug, but it's got your two USB connections for your power if you need that.,: But that's just a standard power supply for USB, right?,Speaker C: That's right, exactly.,: You've got a power adapter, a local power adapter in Australia of course.,Speaker C: And he can't do one.,: The power plug in Australia, are they unique to Australia or are they in common with parts of Asia?,Speaker C: Yeah, no, they're pretty much unique to here. So we've got three pin plugs. We've got an earth as well.,: Everything has an earth ground. Right.,Speaker C: Yeah. Without we've got. So we've got the positIve, negative Earth. We've got three pins. Yeah.,: It's crazy.,Speaker C: In the.,: US you can still buy lots of things without the Earth ground.,Speaker C: Yeah.,Speaker A: Well this USB charger for Mac.,Speaker C: Yeah.,: That's extremely similar to a US one. It's just that the two pins are on slant. Yeah, the US is just parallel. Yeah, almost the same.,Speaker A: But normally I plug so. And I won't unplug anything because I'll probably turn something off.,: That'll be a bad sign. Don't unplug stuff while you're on this.,Speaker C: That's right. These are the bits that we always joke about that you'll never read but everything's. And I wanted to point this out.,: Only manuals for all of them.,Speaker C: Only because it sort of dumbs it. It's not dumbing it down, but it's so well explained that anybody who sort of has a general understanding of audio will be able to still sort of pick these things up and go, okay, I know what I need to do. They're clearly laid out. Everything's marked, everything's labeled nicely.,: Yeah, it's analog gear. It's got a USB, but it's analog. So each knob has a job. It's labeled what the knob does. So how much manual do you need when it's that straight versus something where it's like 15 layers of menus? I was setting up that mix pre three for my client. I was like, oh, my God, I need to open the manual, dude. I can't figure this thing out. To save my life, I had to watch YouTube videos and even to pass a signal to the Mac through the USB port. It was not intuitive whatsoever because it's all hidden inside little. The screen on that machine is like size of a post.,Speaker C: Yeah.,Speaker A: Stamps.,: I don't know, bigger than a poacher stamp, but it's like this big. And so you're, like, touching the little. So having everything. A knob and a switch for one job, man, that's the dream. That's why I'm so excited about the passport.,Speaker C: Yeah.,: So straightforward. No more firmware. Annoying stuff.,Speaker C: No more.,Speaker A: So we must be getting close, actually. How close are we to the passport video?,: Well, Michael has been giving us updates from time to know. I get emails. I don't know if you guys get emails, but I certainly get emails once or so, maybe a week, from somebody who's getting curious what's going on. There's still a projection of early spring, late winter, early spring, so March, April. It's such a moving target that it just doesn't feel right to quote any dates and times as soon as you do. It's the Elon Musk syndrome.,Speaker C: Yeah.,: Everything is, like, coming right? And you're like, hey, we've been waiting six years for this whole self fulfilled driving car thing, and they didn't hear you.,Speaker C: We're going to tell our advertisers to fuck off. Is that what we're going to do?,: I watched that whole interview. That was very interesting.,Speaker C: It was, isn't it?,: Yeah. So I'm always like, of the under promise, over deliver thing, but at the end of the day, it's going to come out when it's ready. And people don't like to hear that because we've had 87 eightyat of you have invested in that unit now at this point.,Speaker C: Yeah.,: So we have a lot of people obviously vested in this.,Speaker C: It'll be worth the wait.,: But it's worth the wait. And it is definitely coming. Until we have had one in our hands to actually test a prototype, we won't be able to give you any definitive yes when it's coming. And it's funny if you look on the buy page on the actual store@centrens.com. We have a 4.8 star review. Six reviews. Six people are so excited.,Speaker C: Haven't even had.,: They've already given it a review.,Speaker C: They even got it. Yeah, there you go.,: Trust us, folks, it doesn't exist quite yet, but there are still some, believe it or not, available. There's twelve of the initial batch still available to buy. So when they do ship, you get it, you'll be able to get on that first batch. So stay tuned. We're all excited. And trust us, as soon as we have our unit in hand, just like Robo does, we'll be definitely be sharing it with you guys.,Speaker A: Indeed.,Speaker C: Indeed.,Speaker A: Now, we haven't made any reference to the fact you're wearing a Santa hat, George.,: Why would I be wearing a Santa hat anyway?,Speaker C: He's having a home classic.,: I put it on earlier, I did a video and I thought, I'll just leave it on.,Speaker C: Why not?,: You can't tell because it's too bright. But the lights are twinkling. There you go. Yeah.,Speaker C: We got a four star rating. And you got a four star Santa cap. I was going to say, and if.,: You'Re really good, I'll give you a five star.,Speaker A: That's funny. We've had a five star general. Now we've got a five star Santa. You may have noticed one thing that I obviously have been feeling a bit jealous about. Robo's hair, so.,: Robo.,Speaker C: I even had a haircut yesterday. Look at that.,: Mine is longer than ever. I've really let this thing go crazy seeing how long I can tolerate it, if I can make it through the end of the year.,Speaker C: So listen, guys, just before we wrap this thing up, just to bring this all together, I don't know whether I've told you guys, but we've got Michael from Sentrance coming on to do a video episode with us in a couple of weeks. To walk me through that, we're going to plug it in and have a play with it. So that should be a bit of an in depth dive. He might even make you look silly for once, George. I try, but I can never succeed. Maybe Michael will.,Speaker B: Leave a comment, suggest a topic, or just say good day, drop us a note at our website, theproaudiosuite.com.

Speaker B: Get started. Speaker A: Welcome. Speaker B: Hi. Hi. Hello, everyone, to the Pro Audio Suite. Speaker A: These guys are professional and motivated with tech. To the Vo stars George Wittam, founder of Source Elements Robert Marshall, international audio engineer Darren Robbo Robertson and global voice Andrew Peters. Thanks to Triboo austrian audio making passion heard. Source elements. George the tech. Wittam and robbo and AP's. International demo. To find out more about us, check thepro audiosuite.com. Speaker B: Learn up learner. Here we go. Speaker C: And don't forget the password. Trip a P 200 to get $200 off your Triboof. Now, talking of product, one of our sponsors, apart from Triboof is Austrian Audio. And Austrian Audio have been busy lately and just released some new product, which is my creator studio, my creator satellite and my creator Ylav, which is an interesting thing for Austrian Audio. I didn't think they would get into this or particularly the Mylav thing. I didn't see them going that way. But what do you think, just a first look at this product from Austrian Audio. Speaker B: Well, I would say they are reading the tea leaves, as you could say, and it's just they have to have a product in this category. The creator category is a massive category. It kind of encompasses podcasting, Vlogging, songwriting. If you make content, you're a creator. And so this is like we are creators today because we're making a podcast. So this is who they need to reach out to. It's no longer the home musician or the home studio. It's the creator. This is the category that's replacing the quote unquote home studio. And so they're entering that market. And if their engineering track record so far is any indication, because this is new and none of us have one, I think they'll nail it. They haven't really missed a beat on anything they released so far, and I think they need to be very careful to make sure that brand stays gold. It's really concerning when companies release something half baked or just not quite up to par, even though it's at a lower price point. So obviously it's not going to be made in Austria in the same lab as the OC eight one eight. Right. : It's interesting. It's got one knob. I wonder if it's like that one thing where we couldn't figure out how to use it because the interface was like two buttons and everything happened. Speaker B: Yeah, well, I'm looking at it closely on screen and I don't have the software again, but it's got a three position switch on the face of the body of the mic itself and it's got high low mute. So that leads me to believe that it's just a very simple two position gain switch. : Yeah, but it talks about low latency monitoring, so it's got some stuff going on as a creator. It talks about low latency monitoring without any trouble. Speaker B: Yeah, well, it's got a volume balance knob, which I would say probably is that. So it's a volume control and it's a blend control, assuming that's what Bal means. Speaker C: Unless it could actually be when you plug into the micreator studio, you plug in the micreator satellite to create a stereo mic. Maybe that switch actually doubles as that to get a blend between left and right. I don't know right. Speaker B: Don't know yet. Don't know yet. : I'm looking for a manual. Speaker B: It's got a nice engineering industrial design. Not sexy, just kind of utilitarian looking. A square ish rectangular body and then the microphone capsule on top, which kind of has that cool retro look where the capsule is suspended inside a rim. And it's a nice looking design if it holds up to the abuse of what creators do, which is, to be completely frank, not take care of their gear. In a lot of cases, you just chuck things in your bag. I'll talk about another one of our friends rode, right? Speaker C: Yes. Speaker B: One thing I love about my rode wireless mics, the little wireless mes I have the cheapy ones is they're so light and so basic that I can just kind of I mean, I stick them in a little bag. And throw them in my gear bag. And they're so inconspicuous and they're so simple to operate that when I do need to use them as long as the battery is charged. And that's important. But as long as they got a charge on them, they're just so easy to deploy. Like within 30 seconds, I had it plugged into my iPhone. I launched the Road, I think they call it Capture road capture app. And I'm capturing my mic on my camera, the mic on my talent, and both cameras, the front and the rear. And I'm automatically shooting video and audio. : Is that all down to three files? Does it give you them separately or how does it do it? Speaker B: Yeah. So what it's doing and I would like to control this, but I can't. So what it does is it makes two video files and then each video file has a two track audio to go with it. So each video has both the microphones on ISO tracks. So what I do is when I bring why does it make two videos. : Like front and back or what? Speaker B: I can set it up to do that. Yeah. So you'll see a video I'm going to release soon, which is the interview of the owner of Vocalbooth.com. And I use that feature. So you'll see a video of me and him talking to each other. I'm behind it, he's in front of it, and you'll see it's just switching between the two of us. I'm using software to do this switch back and forth. And all I had to do was actually isolate the two audio tracks so I could get a better mix because I ended up having both audio tracks on both shots. So I had to kind of isolate them so you didn't have doubles, right, if that makes any sense. But this reminds me of that kind of, like, creator's tool, simple USBC plug and go. Looking at the back of the microphone now, I'm actually finally saw the rear of it. There's a few more functions, a few more jacks. : Well, the plug in the satellite mic is one. Speaker C: Yeah, that'll be the out. And then you get to the satellite mic, and then it's got an input and an output. And I'm assuming that what you do there is you get the headphone monitoring will come from the out, from the satellite, I guess, yeah. Speaker B: I mean, I look at this as Austrian audio saying, those road systems are cute, but we make good mics. So let's do the same idea. Forget at the wireless mics. This is really more for musician creators. So let's be able to have two mics, but all plugged into one USB. : This is a little bit of a RODECaster, I think it does. Speaker B: It's a little bit of a road type. Yeah. : Because it's recording both the lavalier mic and the close up mic, I guess. Speaker B: The lav or the satellite mic, which. : Looks like I think it records both. Speaker B: Yeah. The satellite mic looks like just another of the same capsule, just without the rest of the brains. It's just a little it's got a TRRS microphone cable, and it goes to the slave. It's like a master slave. We don't use that anymore, do we, the terms anymore? But it's kind of like there's the primary secondary, or whatever you want to call it. Speaker C: That's really interesting. Interesting product. We'll try and get our hands on something, at least one or two of those, just to check them out. Also, in the next few weeks, someone is sending me an ISO booth. I think you've done a demo on. Speaker B: Those sending you an ISO booth. So if they're sending it to you and it's for isolation, that already makes me concerned that it's not going to be very good at Isolating. Speaker C: Well, you know the big thing, you stick your head inside the ISO booth. : Yeah. The gray one that makes you want to vomit once you're in there for. Speaker C: A while, probably we'll find out when I get it, but it's going to be shipped to me in the next week or so. : Brush your teeth. Speaker C: Yes. Speaker B: Are we divulging who this is yet? Are we going to wait until you've used it and then you're going to. Speaker C: Mention we'll wait till I've used it. I just want to check it out. : Isn't it Isovox? Speaker C: Isovox, yeah. : Yes. Speaker B: They're going to send you their new. Speaker C: Cheaper one, the Isovox Two, I think it's called. Speaker B: Oh, they're going to send you Isovox Two. Speaker C: Yeah. Speaker B: Okay. : Aren't those things like, $800? Speaker B: I did a video review of that. How long ago? Five years ago. They're going to send you one of those? Speaker C: Yeah, I think you did the Isovox one, is that correct? Speaker B: I did the isovox two. I have the video loaded right now on my screen. Speaker C: Wow. Yeah, because the distributor that brings in Austrian audio into Australia have got them. : Yeah. The isovox two is like $1,000. Speaker C: So it's just going to come down for a week. I'll play with it and then we'll use it on one of the upcoming episodes and see what we think. Also an update on the passport vo. I've seen a bit of correspondence flicking backwards and forwards, mainly to you, George. How's it? Speaker B: Well, you know, the bottom line being I think Mike is being very transparent, but this is the truth is that he had a backlog of product to ship because of a part supply issue. So that really took the energy away from our product for a few months that we thought he would have been working on our product. So that means that our product is still in essentially, it's in design phase. We were the Envisionaries Envisionaries the vision visionaries for what we wanted, but it comes down to actual circuit design, and that is what it takes to get this thing really built. And so Michael is in that stage. He's in the circuit design stage. We were hoping this would have happened three months ago. It didn't, because he's been trying to basically relaunch and redeliver or deliver a whole bunch of their products because of a USB chip problem. Speaker C: Yeah. Speaker B: And so they had to literally redesign the boards for four products, get them back into production, get them delivered and shipped. So they've done that. So now if you do want to go buy a micport pro Three, they're actually shipping. They're no longer on preorder, as they've been for quite a while, as well as the mixer face and the portcaster and things like that. Speaker C: And the English Channel, I think, is number one. Speaker B: Yeah. Well, there's another one that's the English Channel, which I hear a little birdie said that we might have something to test out at some point. Speaker C: I think one is being shipped to Robo. I know that. I'm pretty sure that's happening, so that could be interesting. Speaker B: The English Channel is a fully analog piece, right? : Is it a preamp and EQ or. Speaker C: Just a preamp and limiter compressor? Preamp, I think it's got everything. Basically, there's a channel strip I got. Speaker B: To double check because they also have this soapbox, and there's a little bit of an overlap in terms of what does what, so I'm double checking that right now. But the Channel well, the English Channel. : Is but he only sent one to Robbo, right? He didn't send them out all over the place. Speaker B: I don't know. I thought he asked for my address, but I could be wrong. Yeah, but the English Channel, he didn't. : Ask for mine, as far as I know. Speaker B: Okay. Speaker C: Oh, mine. Speaker B: Tim's fighting words. The English Channel includes a studio mic, pre dynamics processor with gate compressor and DeEsser and parametric EQ with sonic enhancer and a streaming USB audio interface with SD card recorder. So it's essentially it's a little mini rack of three products. That's the English Channel. Speaker C: Yeah. : I didn't realize English Channel had a recorder on it. Speaker B: Well, it's the soapbox, the black cab and the portcaster. Yeah. Speaker C: All in one or linked together? Speaker B: Well, yeah, all combined in a cool little rack that they all lock into and connect together to make it feel like one product. : I think it's all those together. Oh, is he sending you the whole string? Speaker C: Holy shit. Speaker B: I don't know, but that would be pretty slamming. I was the most interested in testing the soapbox because that's kind of like a DBX 286. : I think the Preamp is the most interesting one if it's a decent external preamp. Speaker C: Yeah. Speaker B: Well, the soapbox is the preamp. The Black Cab is a five band spectral processor. : It's an EQ five band. It's a three wait, hold on. Speaker B: Well, they call it a five band. : Black Cab is just a three. I'm looking at it right now. It's a three band parametric q gain. Speaker B: And it must have a high shelf and a low shelf. : Oh, yeah, it does. Speaker B: No, it's got HDF. Yeah, it's got a pad that makes it five bands. And then there's the podcaster, is the recorder side of the whole thing. Speaker C: Yeah. It's interesting with sentrance because I've sort of been scouting around as well because I got an email from Michael that sort of inspired me to go down a rabbit hole on the Google. And I found some really interesting reviews, particularly on MixerFace, that was written by Sound on Sound magazine. And anyone that knows Sound on Sound knows they're pretty an authority. And they're good. : Yeah. Speaker B: Beyond reproach, would you say? Speaker C: I would say pretty well beyond reproach. Yeah. And they rave about Sentrin's products, so that was quite nice to read. Speaker B: Good to see. Yeah, I know a lot of the reviews. I mean, it's probably more likely to find a pretty honest review in these traditional print magazines than I would say you're going to find on a YouTube channel these days. I know that YouTubers are being forced to divulge that the product was sent to them, but that is part of the whole. Those that want to give the most impartial reviews tend to be the ones that actually go buy the products. Right. And so it's getting increasingly difficult to find reviews of brand new products that were not gifted to the reviewers. : I can tell you that I bought the Mixer. Speaker C: Bo Weaver. He's got a mixer face from memory as well, isn't he? Did he get one? Speaker B: He may. I don't recall particularly, but I think so. I think he's always been an early adopter. Whenever something new came out that was portable, he was all over it. Speaker C: Yeah. Speaker B: So I'm sure he had one. Yeah. Speaker C: Well, if that's the case, then I should put my hand up and say, I bought my OC eight one eight. : Yes, you did. Speaker C: Yes. : That's what started the whole thing. Speaker C: It was because I just bought the thing and loved it. That was the beginning of getting into bed, so to speak, with them. Speaker B: I bought my Rode wireless. Mics. Speaker C: Good work. Speaker B: It's about the cheapest thing they make. : But I bought my Rode Wireless Mics, but I didn't buy this guy, which I do like. I have to be honest, I think the NTG Five has been quite a good mic. Speaker C: Yeah. Speaker B: Now, we're on a new topic, but when I recommend product, I do try to defulge that I know or I have some kind of a relationship with that vendor. I do try to say that if it makes sense in the context, but it's proving your integrity. If you're listening to us right now, honestly, and you don't know who we are, first of all, Google us, okay? And second of all, we all have worked in this industry a really long time. We have very large client bases of trusted people. And if we're going to shill a product that was given to us by these vendors, we're going to use them, you're going to hear them, and you're going to get our god's honest thought about those products, period. There is no reason we're not going to go out of business because we told you something didn't sound good. It ain't going to happen. Like, we're just going to keep right on chugging whether we like something or not. So we're always going to be very straightforward with what works and what doesn't, you know what I mean? Speaker C: But the thing is, if it's something good, you want to share that information with people. I mean, I know the Austrian audio, particularly the OC 8118. I know quite a few people have bought them on my recommendation and love them. So it's not they've bought them and just going on, great, thanks for that. I've just shelled out some cash and. : You haven't gotten any commission or anything for that? Speaker B: No, really? : In fact, we should talk about that. Speaker C: Yes, indeed. Speaker B: No, we don't. We get product, we get to use it. We get to use it in the real world. We get to do our shows with the products. You hear us using the products, we talk about them. That benefits them, the vendor or the manufacturer, that benefits us because we get to use the stuff and talk about it with authority. And it benefits hopefully, you guys, too, because you're going to hear us say what we like, what we don't like, and what works, what doesn't, and that kind of thing. So hopefully everybody wins and they find that there's some integrity. There's going to be people out there who say, well, screw those guys, they got that thing for free. I've immediately written them off as an authority on that product or impartial reviewer, and that's fine. What are you going to do? Speaker C: Yeah. And we do get stuff for free, and we're quite happy to disclose that we're not going to lie to anybody about the product just because we got it for free. I mean, if it's free and it's junk, we'll say it's junk. Like the product. The Austrian audio thing. When I approached them to come on as a sponsor, I was expecting a big no. But no, they were happy to listen to the podcast and were happy to get involved. Speaker B: Going back, do you remember why you approached them? What caught their attention to you? Speaker C: Well, first of all, I had been reading about these microphones coming out and I was actually the barbecue at a friend's place, and the guy who is the distributor for Austrian Audio now had told me some time ago that he said, I've got something special up my sleeve that's coming out. We're going to be distributing this new microphone. And I'd forgotten all about that. And I saw him at the barbecue and I said, oh, Mark, I've seen this great new mic. It looks fantastic. It's called the Austrian Audio. OC. Eight one eight. He goes, Mate, that's the one we're bringing in. I went, Holy shit, you're kidding. Looks great. He goes, It's fantastic. And then they did a bit of a launch just when COVID had kicked off, unfortunately, and I went to this. Speaker B: I'm familiar with that problem. Yeah. Speaker C: God. And it was all the product launched. Speaker B: Exactly like three months before the friggin Pandemic. We're trying to sell a portable product whenever traveling. Speaker C: Then I went to this function that Group Technologies here in Australia are put on. So they had Austrian Audio down there, they had a whole bunch of other products they bring into Australia from Europe and all over the place. And I met Martin, who's the CEO of Austrian Audio. He was there just talking to people and demonstrating product. And so I had a good chat with him and he was telling me about how Austrian Audio happened and what the capsule they put into the OC eight. One eight was actually from all the R and D they were doing at AKG, trying to replicate the C Twelve. And it's all the stuff about microphones that they got from famous people just to try and get some kind of sonic signature from the C Twelve that they could base their new OC 8118 on. So that was when I first got it. And I bought one and just loved it and kind of went from there, really. So I was talking to the guys here and I said, it'd be really nice if they became a sponsor. Would they be interested? And it's like, Talk to Walter in Austria and see what he says. So I did. Speaker B: And they said, you did it the old fashioned way. Speaker C: Old fashioned way? I didn't use a pen and paper to write a letter. Speaker B: No, but you had a relationship, you made a connection, you had a relationship, you just reached out and that's how it works. Whereas a lot of influencers, it doesn't work that way at all. The influencers just getting inundated with emails from the marketing departments of all these different products saying review our product please. And that's not at all what happened and how things work around here. Partly because we're kind of in terms of the internet of personalities, we're small potatoes. We do not have 20, 5100 and 3 million followers. It ain't going to happen. So there's not that motivation for companies to get these products into our hands. Like bandru? Speaker C: Yeah. Speaker B: From podcastage and those guys nor do we want to be in that position either. Those guys, it's a grind for them. I've talked to Mike Delgadio, the booth junkie and other guys like them and it's a grind for them. They just oh get I have four more of these things to get reviewed in the next know or whatever. It becomes just sort of a grind. And we're not in that position either, which I'm really grateful for that we don't have to. It's just not part of how we do things and how we make money. We just get product, we talk about it, use it and then we just do our thing. Speaker C: Yeah, and we're not just a product reviewer either. I mean, we're more not at all brainstrust. Speaker B: If this is your first time listening to us, go back a year or two. Speaker C: Yeah, that's right. Yeah. It's more of a brains trust and a place where people can listen in and just use us as a resource to get some information about anything they might want to do in their home studio, including buying an Austrian Audio microphone. Speaker B: I've gotten some really good anecdotal just literally a man on the street. People I meet at events. Great compliments about the that's well that's know I really enjoy your shows that you podcast. Pro Audio Suite podcast, you know, it resonates with people. I am told about this show I showed up to Joseph Brando's promo masterclass and three different people at lunch there were like, hey, I love that's. Great. People are hearing really they really enjoy it and it resonates with them and there's some value that they're getting from the show. Speaker C: Well, I do know that there's quite a few dealers in Chicago that resonates with them as well. : Definitely. Speaker B: Well that was fun. Is it over? On this week's show we take a look at the history of a company that is synonymous with home theater, Dolby Laboratories. We also read your emails and take a look at the week's news. News: LG Outlines Plans to Become a Media and Entertainment Platform | TV Tech Watch out Amazon and Roku, Vizio's new 4K TVs are vying to be the best budget TVs Comcast's Xumo-Branded Smart TVs Are Getting Good Reviews But Are Already Deeply Discounted LG Stops Integrating ATSC 3.0 Tuners Into Smart TVs After Losing Patent Dispute, Samsung and Sony Could Follow | Next TV Other: Hisense Smart Short Projector Renewed The Dolby Laboratories History Story in Chronological Order 1965 - Dolby Laboratories is a longtime innovator of developing electronic devices and systems to improve recorded sound. Founded by Ray Dolby in 1965, the company's first development was Dolby A-type noise reduction. It was basically a specially designed electronic circuit contained in a compact metal case. It was not a recording machine, but it could be attached to a recorder to improve its sound. 1966 - Dolby creates first product to reduce noise in music recordings. 1968 - Ray Dolby next developed a consumer version of the Dolby A system at the urging of Henry Kloss, an American audio pioneer and president of KLH Research and Development Corporation. The result was the 1968 introduction of Dolby B-type noise reduction, intended for home tape recorders. Following a relocation of the company from London to San Francisco, Dolby B was released into the world. Designed primarily for cassettes, it went on to completely alter the way music was both recorded and received world-over. It was simple and cheap, and by the mid-70s it was the standard for all cassette tapes – and is the type of noise reduction and is still used to this very day. Yes – people still like their cassette tapes! 1971 - The first film with Dolby sound was A Clockwork Orange (1971), which used Dolby noise reduction on all pre-mixes and masters, but a conventional optical sound track on release prints. 1974 - Callan was the first film with a Dolby-encoded optical soundtrack. 1975 - Dolby Laboratories introduced Dolby Stereo, a product aimed at motion picture producers and theaters. Dolby Stereo was used with existing 35-mm optical soundtracks, but with important changes. At the studio, stereo soundtracks were recorded using Dolby equipment. At the theaters, a Dolby unit and new loudspeakers were added to the existing projection equipment. The result was much higher sound quality. 1976 - The first true LCRS (Left-Center-Right-Surround) soundtrack was encoded on the movie A Star Is Born in 1976. In less than ten years, 6,000 cinemas worldwide were equipped to use Dolby Stereo sound. Dolby reworked the system slightly for home use and introduced Dolby Surround, which only extracted a surround channel, and the more impressive Dolby Pro Logic, which was the domestic equivalent of the theatrical Dolby Stereo. 1977 - Star Wars opens with Dolby Stereo®. 1982 - the company was receiving $6 million annually in licensing fees from approximately 125 audio equipment manufacturers. With circuits in about 70 million different consumer products, Dolby had a monopoly in the consumer noise reduction field. In the 1980s, virtually all pre recorded cassettes used Dolby B. The first major threat to Dolby's positioning began quietly in 1980, when dbx--a Newton, Massachusetts company--sold its system to several audio manufacturers, including the major Japanese company Matsushita Electric. In April 1982, the competition began to look more serious. Dbx pulled ahead of Dolby, developing the first miniature noise-reduction circuit for Walkmen, which at this time represented the fastest-growing consumer audio segment. Dbx, which had been developed in 1971, was a serious threat to Dolby because it reduced background noise by 40 decibels, a considerable improvement over Dolby's 10. Initially, high prices had made dbx unfamiliar to consumers, but the system was favored by recording professionals. By 1982, dbx had already far overtaken Dolby and held 70 percent of the commercial recording equipment market. In response to the threat posed by dbx's competition, Dolby introduced an upgraded version of its system, Dolby C, as well as a portable product. 1986 - Dolby Spectral Recording (or SR) worked on magnetic soundtracks for film as well as music cassettes, producing digital clarity from an analog sound system. Dolby SR used the same basic principle as Dolby's original circuit, monitoring the sound signal and adjusting frequency boost to suit the loudness level, with different signal levels boosted at different amounts. The result was a system that was dynamic and almost infinitely flexible. The system was used by many professional studios instead of digital recording, and in 1988 Dolby SR was in use at movie theaters showing the films Robocop and Space. 1992 - Dolby achieved $40 million in revenues, with a third from royalty payments that headed straight to the bottom line. Dolby sound reduction was now featured on approximately 380 million tape players, boom boxes, headphones, and car stereos, as well as a few billion audio-cassette packages. Dolby developed a digital surround sound compression scheme for the cinema. Dolby Stereo Digital (now simply called Dolby Digital) was first featured on the 1992 film Batman Returns. Introduced to the home theater market as Dolby AC-3 with the 1995 laserdisc release of Clear and Present Danger. The format did not become widespread in the consumer market, partly because of extra hardware that was necessary to make use of it until it was adopted as part of the DVD specification. Dolby Digital is now found in the HDTV (ATSC) standard of the United States, DVD players, and many satellite-TV and cable-TV receivers. Dolby developed a digital surround sound compression scheme for the TV series The Simpsons. 1998 - First live HDTV broadcast with 5.1-channel Dolby Digital audio. 1999 - Star Wars: Episode I—The Phantom Menace debuts in Dolby Surround EX. 2007 - Dolby announced the arrival of Dolby Volume at the International Consumer Electronics Show. 2010 - Dolby introduced Dolby Surround 7.1, and set up theaters worldwide with 7.1 surround speaker setups to deliver theatrical 7.1 surround sound. The first film to be released with this format was Pixar's Toy Story 3 which was later followed by 50 releases using the format. About eighty percent of films released are mixed in Dolby Surround 7.1 by default. 2014 - Dolby introduced its Dolby Atmos, a new cinematic technology adding overhead sound, first applied in Pixar's motion picture Brave. In July 2014, Dolby Laboratories announced plans to bring Atmos to home theater. The first television show to use the technology on disc was Game of Thrones. Dolby launches Dolby Vision™. 2019 - Dolby adds Atmos to hundreds of newer songs in the music industry.

N7。 Tony started his professional career in the music industry in 1980 at the age of 16 years old. Playing drums since the age of 3 Tony had been pounding on his dad's 1948 Radio King drum set that was a fixture in the basement of his Queens, NY home! Not only was Tony's dad a professional musician but his grandfather and his great grandfather back in Italy were as well. It seems that music was Tony's destiny. With so many musicians in the family, Tony's listening palette was broad and wide! Opera and Big band jazz were the main stays on the turntables back then. As was the Beatles, Bee Gee's, James Taylor and all the pop artists of the day. One influential film Tony remembers was “The Glenn Miller Story”. In the story “Glenn” is searching for that “sound”. Tony's Mom would often refer to this, as Tony would come up from the basement looking for that “sound” on his drums - bewildered as to how the drums sounded so big and fat on the records. The quest was on for the “Holiest of Grails” a great drum sound! As time passed, Tony went on to work in the Studio and Live concerts with the likes of Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Selena Gomez, Carrie Underwood, Ramone, Diane Warren, Keith Thomas, Kip Winger, Bruce Springsteen, Michael Broening, Amy Grant, Donna Summer, Roberta Flack, Paul Taylor, Discrete Drums Loop Series, Toby Mac, Cindy Bradley, Jay Soto, Stephanie Smith, Ayeisha Woods, Rebecca Saint James, Britt Nicole, Stevie B, Sweet Sensation, Kathy Troccoli, Regie Hamm, Crystal Lewis, Avalon, John Elefante, Van Zandt and on. His career has taken him from NYC to LA to his current residence in Franklin, TN. (A quaint city 14 miles outside of Music Row in downtown Nashville.) Tony is a successful session drummer and producer in Nashville. After years of touring, he had the good fortune to get into the session scene in town. The scene was healthy but still changing. Session work was going through some severe changes due to budgets and technical changes. After an encounter with LA session musician J.R Robinson, Tony was convinced that the future of tracking was going to be done in the home. Now for a gtr track or vocal overdub maybe so, but drums? Here we go again searching for that “sound” in a 25 x 25 Garage built for storing cars and gardening equipment not killer drum sounds. With much investigation and a great builder with vision, they turned the Garage and Utility room into what now is one of the busiest drum tracking rooms in town. For 8 years now Tony Morra has been tracking drums for demos, custom records, indie projects. Sounds about right, but NO! There's more!( Billy Mayes moment) Tony is tracking drums for Masters, Television, Film, Loop Libraries you hear on TV and on radio everyday. Tony is one of the leaders in home recording through the Internet since it was possible to do so! He has been a beta tester for many online programs that make it easier to do sessions in real time. What was thought to be a little drum room for some extra work has turned into a livelihood. Tony's clients span the world! These sessions are done at his home with the sounds rivaling those done in the largest and most expensive studios. A big part of Tony's career was happening when he thought he had no career! In between gigs and tours in NY when work was lean, Tony would find work as an assistant engineer at jingle studios for jingle writer friends of his. He would also get to play live drums for them from time to time, but this was when the industry was moving to drum machines and loops. These experiences, which he took for granted in that he was just “collecting a check when gigs were slow”, gave him a wealth of knowledge of the recording industry and working with midi and sequencers. Mind you this is before Pro Tools! All editing was done with a razor and a prayer. Oh and he knows how to align a tape machine! That knowledge has paid huge dividends in that beyond being an accomplished musician, he is an accomplished tracking engineer. Still Tony will bring in Top Nashville engineers to help dial in new sounds and experiment with gear. His room is outfitted with the best gear there is, Daking, API, GML, Avalon, Neve EQ's, DBX 160's, Distressors, Telefunken Pre's, vintage Orbans and so on! The mics are no joke; Neumann U47, AKG's, Audio Technica, KM 184's, modified Ribbons.........and a ProTools HDX system. It's a new world and a new frontier in recording. Tony's embracing it! Using what's available to make the finest quality Drum Tracks available for those who might never have been able to afford to do so and for those where budget is not even a concern. Joel Silverman has spent the last 41 years on the manufacturing side of the business with companies like MXR, DBX, Lexicon, and Millennia. Before this long successful career, Joel who was based in Rochester, NY started Silverfish Audio in 1971. In the summer of 74, Joel had been working with Bonnie Raitt while at Brighton Sound. Ross Ritto joined up with Joel to start building a speaker system for a Bonnie Raitt tour, which is really where it all started to come together for Silverfish Audio.Bill Thompson was co-owner of Brighton Sound before moving on to start Ashly Audio. Early on they were building custom consoles, of which Silverfish had the most. These consoles were ahead of their time with parametric eq's on the outputs, built-in speaker crossovers, compressors, and moreIn 1976, Silverfish landed Jimmy Buffet as a touring client. As they took on more clients and tours grew, it led them to open up an office in Burbank CA in 1978. The company continued to grow as Joel decided to leave the sound company and start the manufacturing side of his career. In 1980 Silverfish moved to San Diego. During this time Dave Shadoan joined the company and became half owner with Ross Ritto. They changed the name to "Southern California Sound Image” in 1984. They are celebrating 50 years in business and Jimmy Buffet is still a client to this day------------------ Check out www.howwegotloud.com for more details and other episodes

Episode 85 Rain Music Playlist Dean Evenson, “Thunder Intro” from Forest Rain (1993 Soundings of the Planet). 0:28 Ulrich Schnauss, “Molfsee” from Far Away Trains Passing By (2002 City Centre Offices). Written and produced by German artists Ulrich Schnauss. Schnauss is also a current member of Tangerine Dream, joining in 2014 and working with a renewed lineup since the death of original TG member Edgar Frose in 2015. 8:07 Ana Roxanne, “It's A Rainy Day On The Cosmic Shore” from ~ ~ ~ (2019 Leaving Records). Limited edition cassette release. Ana Roxanne is an intersex Southeast Asian musician born and raised in the Bay area. Some low-fi and hi-fi rain sounds and synthesis. 5:03 Paul Beaver and Bernard Krause, “Ragnarök” from Ragnarök (1969 Limelight). The duo's first album of electronic music following the release of their Nonesuch Guide to Electronic Music (1968). They feature the Moog Modular synthesizer throughout and use it to synthesize the sounds of rain and thunder on this track. 3:22 Dean Evenson, “Thunder Streams” from Forest Rain (1993 Soundings of the Planet). Everson has been producing soothing electronic and flute sounds for many years, this example is from 1993 and includes rain and thunder effects. Native and silver flutes, keyboards, Dean Evenson; harp, Dudley Evenson; cello, Jonathan Kramer; guitar, Tim McHugh; percussion, Stuart Glasser. 6:20 Mystic Moods Orchestra, introductory sounds of the storm and the sea from One Stormy Night (1966 Phillips). 0:52 Steve Birchall, “Summer Memories” from Reality Gates (1973 Poseidon Electronic Music Studio). An obscure and interesting album of privately produced electronic music from the early 1970s. Billed as "electronic meditations by Steve Birchall." Equipment used was a potpourri of systems, effects, and an EMS VCS-3 synthesizer: Ampex mm 1000 16 track recorder; DBX noise reduction; Spectrasonics console; Studer A-80 recorder; Eventide Clockworks Instant Phaser; Cooper Time Cube; EMT reverb; Neumann VMS 70-SX68 computerized lathe; EMS VCS-3 (Putney) synthesizer. 10:49 Agostino Nirodh Fortini (Nirodh), “Aquatic Round” from Suoni Immaginari (2020 Black Sweat Records). Italian artist and release. Composed, recorded, and produced by Agostino Nirodh Fortini. 2:52 Mystic Moods Orchestra, “A Dream" from One Stormy Night (1966 Phillips). In the mid-sixties, recording engineer and sound recordist Brad Miller had the brilliant idea of combining the recorded sounds of nature with sweeping, orchestral renditions of popular music. This was a series of albums intended as background mood music for couples. The subtitle on the cover of One Stormy Night is “Whoever you are, you hold in your heart the memory of…One Stormy Night.” On the back cover, it says, “A spectacular thunderstorm, the sound of rain and romantic music combine to create One Stormy Night. The Mystic Moods Orchestra has many releases in to the early 1970s, at least two of which utilized the Moog Modular synthesizer. This album, however, is pure field recordings creatively combined with music. 4:16 Sanford Ponder, “Frontier” from Etosha - Private Music In The Land Of Dry Water (1985 Private Music). Arranged, produced, written, Fairlight CMI Synthesizer, Yamaha DX-7 Synthesizer, Roland GR-707 Synthesizer, Sanford Ponder; piano, Clyde Criner. 9:37 D. Emmanuel, “Rain Forest Music” from Rain Forest Music (1981 North Star Productions). Private recording of electronic and acoustical music with field recording sound effects. Composed, arranged, performed, recorded by, Yairi Acoustical Guitar, Effects, 3 Sequential Circuits Pro-One Synthesizers, Crumar organ, J. D. Emmanuel. Recorded at Emmanuel's studio in Houston. Tropical birds were recorded at Houston Zoo Tropical Bird Aviary. “Rain and surf, gifts from Mother Nature. This music can be used for deep relaxation, meditation and as background for massage and counseling.” 22:00 Thom Holmes, thunder record skip from a Mystic Moods Orchestra album. 0:55 Hans-Joachim Roedelius, “Regenmacher” from Durch Die Wüste (Through the Desert) (1978 Sky Records). Percussion, Bass, Keyboards, Hans-Joachim Roedelius; Synthesizer (Synthesizermelodie), Möbius; EMS Synthi, Percussion, Konrad Plank. Recorded and mixed with Konrad Plank in his studio in May 1976, small changes made in January 1978 prior to release. A German electronic composer and member of Cluster in this first solo album transitions to a period of acoustic music, but there are synths being used on this track. 6:36 Thom Holmes, rolling, distant thunder, field recording. 0:59 Yavomag, Rubikdice & Chilx, “Tokyo Rain” from The Ronin EP (2022 Yavomag, Rubikdice & Chilx). House music with a rainy vibe. 2:23 Thom Holmes, crack of thunder field recording.0:52 Dean Elliott And His Orchestra, “Rain” from Zounds! What Sounds! (1962 Capitol). A funny relic from the days when mixing sounds effects into music was a fresh idea. Very cleverly edited by Phil Kaye; Producer, John Palladino. 2:49 Thom Holmes, “Rain Drone” an alternate version and test for a track I later released called Requiem for the Rain (2016 not released). In this piece, I started with the sound of rainfall that I recorded and then processed it using the synthesizer component of MetaSynth to transform the raindrops and downpour into drones and harmonic points. All of the sounds in this work are derived from processing the sound of rain. 12:29 Thom Holmes, thunder, field recording. 1:15 Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfisch, “Rain” from Blade Runner 2049 (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)(2017 Epic). Cello, Simone Vitucci, Vocals, Tristan Schulze; Guitar, Owen Gurry; exotic instruments, Chas Smith; Musical Assistance, Cynthia Park; Soundtrack Album Produced By, Ashley Culp, Kayla Morrison, Michael Hodges; Synth Programming, Hans Zimmer; Sampling Team, Raul Vega; Digital Instruments Design, Mark Wherry; Synth Design, Howard Scarr; Vocals, Avi Kaplan. 2:26 Opening and closing messages voiced by Anne Benkovitz. Additional opening, closing, and other incidental music by Thom Holmes. See my blog for the Bob Moog Foundation. For additional notes, please see my blog, Noise and Notations.

Number four is Indonesia energy.I N D O. And number five is Vera Bradley, V R a Steve. What's going on with beyond meat has a few things going on. The big thing, the reason you added it to this list is they're reporting. The reporting earnings tonight after the close Wednesday after the close. But they've, there's been a few news items been.Yeah. And what happens with when earnings is an upcoming catalyst and the stock has been in the news or company has been in the news the sacker company being in the news, generate some more attention. And maybe somebody, because beyond me has been in the news the last few weeks.Maybe they looked at the chart and liked the chart or looked at the company's fundamentals and like the fundamentals. And now they, Ooh, notice that there's going to be earnings coming up in a little bit here. Yeah. Maybe I want to play the earnings into the earnings after the earnings, et cetera, et cetera. And so a few weeks ago there was a report out from a publication fast company, and the publication said that, so we know that beyond meat and McDonald's have been working together for a few years now. Does that sound right? I think so. They were testing McDonald's was testing some. Meatless options in a few markets. And there was a report out a couple of weeks ago that said that McDonald's was going to make a beyond meat item, a permanent menu item. It turned out that wasn't exactly the report. I think the report ended up being that there, it was going to be a like a part-time menu item in certain locations and beyond meat chairs saw a little bit of volatility on that news. And then after that, like coincidentally, like maybe a week or so later we heard. Out of activist, investor land, probably the most famous activist investor, Carl Icahn, he's been urging McDonald's on a couple things and touch on a couple of those things related to icon in McDonald's CIF.Yeah. So icon has been doing so, there's obviously activists, investors. Out to, fix company, make them a little bit more profitable, et cetera. This is like at the benefit of their shares, right? The benefit of the shareholders, that's like traditional activist investing, but then there's also like traditional activity.Which is more of going after more of the ideals than the profits. And this is what I have been talking about lately. He's I want to start doing some actual activism not activist investing. And he's been, he owns a decent amount of McDonald's and he's trying to leverage that. And he's been talking to McDonald's about trying to reduce their, production and usage and increase their, plant-based usage and production. Now, obviously he didn't mention beyond meat here, but as you just said, beyond meat and McDonald's have partnered together for a while.Very big activist investor. Carl Icahn is basically saying McDonald's, Hey, you should start using more plant-based stuff. There's a possibility of, some extra beyond me, partnerships, contracts, that kind of stuff. It's the go-to. It is right, Steve. Yeah. And so a nice little segue there also, you had identified another plant-based company that had reported recent. What company, what day was it again? Yeah, so th so there's very few names in this space, right? So basically one of the other peers is tattooed chef, a ticker TTC, CF, and they reported on Monday, I believe. Or actually, I think it was yesterday. Okay. Yeah, it was yesterday after the close. Let's see what tattooed chef has training up or down right now. It's pretty quiet. It was Monday. I apologize. It was Monday. Okay. Gotcha. It looked like tattooed chef traded around the six 50 level. It's trading around the $7 level. But the sacks largely unaffected find the earnings release. True. If you are a fan of the socks. Podcasts folks, you know that Steve and I have been highlighting these peer groups where a company in a sector, in a sub-sector reports results, and it could create some kind of precedent for another company that will pour a little bit later in the earning season, tattooed chef, Like cheers to them, but not quite the same level as me, but investors look for clues, ladies and gentlemen that's the thing.Investors try to get an edge wherever they can. And so I think it was smart that you had a tattooed chef also on your radar here, Steve, our second sock to watch for today, excuse me, is marathon digital, M a R a. This is a Bitcoin miner and we have been tracking. Bitcoin futures over the last few weeks. We're always looking at them. But over today there was following the CPI day. That came out at eight 30. That's a reading on inflation affecting consumers. The reading was a little hotter than expected. Core reading was up about 6.2% on a year over year basis, core reading, excludes volatile food and energy prices. The expectation was for a 6% year over year increase in core reading. So yes, it was. An economist would say hotter than expected. I didn't think that the figures were that concerning actually, but the market really stock market really sold off when we saw it, when we got those CPI data points Sola S and P 500 futures sold up almost a hundred points. And with it went Bitcoin and Bitcoin fell below a key level around the 30,000 level.Hit a low at 28,900. Now Bitcoin futures are rebounding with the SAC market. If I noted, I don't remember if I noted that S and P 500 futures fell below the important 4,000 level after that CPI reading we're now back over that level, we're about 20 points back over that level. So that was good. If you're a bowl that we retook that.Bitcoin futures also moving really similarly here with with the stock market. Yeah. Look, it looks maybe the market's thinking the same way you are where, initially a hotter than expected, but maybe not that bad. Like a quick sell off and it looks like they're recovering most of those gangs.Bitcoin's actually, I think a little bit higher than that CPR where it touched a little bit higher up 31. 31,500. I'm still above that 30,000 level. You had a couple of other Bitcoin mining plays on your radar to see what were those stickers. Yeah. Yeah. So there's a few of them. Any and why, which is sphere 3d ITF, which has bit farms, ETB T.Which has been digital coin Coinbase, and it's not a minor, but it's, a crypto market place. Similarly affected by Bitcoin and then riot blockchain, R I O T is another. Good stuff. Good stuff. Our third sack to watch is chicken soup for the soul, Steve CSF. He, what happened in chicken soup for the soul today? This one had some news this morning. Funnily enough, we talked about Redbox our DBX, I think it was last week or two weeks ago. Yeah. And we were remarking on, what is this, What is this company red box? It turns out chicken soup for the soul knows what it is and they want it because they're buying it right.Or, they're having one of their subsidiaries merge with it and then basically acquiring most of it. Chicken soup for the souls CSSE shares were up 13% of the pre-market and red box here is, were down. They fell fairly sharply and then they're covered right here. Yeah. We're down about 26% in red back shares and around 50%, I think at one point I see a pre-market low at 180 6. The cycles are on the $6 level. Yes. Yeah. And I think that's because, there's some not weird numbers, but people were just interpreting this, so obviously when a company buys another company the company that's getting bought the shareholders get paid out right. In, usually in, in shares of the acquiring company. Yes. Cash or shares catches a little easier to understand. It's like we're buying them at $20. Okay. Share. $20 in cash. Exactly. And this one and the press release said that red box here holders, we're going to get 0.0 8, 7, 5, I think 0.0 8, 7, 5 shares of chicken soup for the soul. For each red bag chair, which is, eight, 8%. So it's it's fairly small, right? That's, it seems small, but also, it says in the press release that like they're merging with one of their subsidiaries and chicken soup for the soul is going to was only going to own 73% of this new company, six and a half 36%.It's not a. Takeover right back. Shareholders are still going to have about 23 and a half percent. So like when when there's a stack deal, I think a lot of traders and market participants will go, okay like what's the math here. Let's see where let's see where chicken soup for the soul shares were trading and let's do the math. And if they're going to each red box, shareholder is going to get. And 0.0 8.09% 0.09, shares of chicken soup for the soul. We can take the stock price of chicken soup for the soul and times that by 9% and we should get the value that chicken soup for the soul sought for red box. Didn't really work that way because this isn't like an outright purchase. So it's not all your value of the company. We got a lot of questions folks, and I thought that. Cool. One to add today because we did get a lot of questions. There was a lot of readers bending readers, and Benzinga pro users today that were reaching out to us and go. Point zero eight, seven shares for red box. That, that can't be right. That's if you do the math, like I was suggesting that would bend like a 75 cent value for the dealer or something like that. Yeah. Max has rebounded a ton here. If I mentioned that pre-market low at 180 6, the sack is now trading around the four 11 level we were being asked, Hey, is that number right? And Steve. Some quick research, you looked at a couple press releases. You looked at a press release from chicken soup for the soul. You looked at a press release from Redbox. You looked at a filing from Redbox. All of those had the same value, right? Yeah. That figure was reiterated on both of their investor websites. But like you said, the AK filing from breadbox several times in that filing. And it seemed to have to go into far more detail. If you want to look into kind of like the structuring of. Of this acquisition, the AK filing I thought was, I didn't get to dive super deep into it, but it seems to go into the structure a lot deeper there going, going into some funding and some contracts and all that kind of stuff.A couple users said whoa, this must be a typo. Does not seem to be the case here. Ladies, gentlemen, we have reached out to red box. And that's what we can do as a news team. So it's kinda nice, but I don't think we've heard back yet, but right. When we do hear back, if we do hear back confirming this figure, which I think we are going to, we're gonna, you'll see some, oh, and it looks like.It looks like red back shares were just halted on a circuit break and just resuming trade, right under the $4 level still down, like a good 30% or so. Sure. All right. Our stock to watch number four is Indonesia energy. I N D O. This is, as you might remember, folks, a low float momentum play in the oil space. This is a play that we've been highlighting on the podcast. We haven't done it in a little while. See, but we were highlighting it like rather often. Yeah. Maybe like a month or two ago. They had some news this morning. They had a oil discovery. Ooh. Yeah. And w what we know about these momentum names, what we know about these low float names is that they can.Move traders tend to push these stacks around, make them do what they want. Create some trading opportunities. Great. Some moves higher, some moves lower. They can go long. They can go short. It's a nice little training vehicle for a lot of, for a lot of traders. And when they have news, when they have meaningful news, that can really push the momentum even further Indonesia energy shares trading off about 10% here. I think that real quick, I think that this has, I'm looking up the float real quick on my Benzing and pro details tool. This is about a 2 million share float. That's like pre. Low float territory. Generally, we're thinking that OSAC under 20 to 25 million is low float. So this one is into low float territory. Our last stock to watch for today is Vera Bradley, ticker B R a, and this one was a little fun one you wanted to add in here. Play on designer, handbags, travel items and accessories. You love these press releases, don't you? Yeah, I do not necessarily like a news catalyst.I don't think this is going to impact the stack, but every once in a while, there will be a, like a designer or a clothing company that is collaborating with. An artist or another company and they'll issue, press releases. A lot of times like highlight the collaboration and very, Bradley's doing a little crossover collection with a few of its bags with outdoor brand Coleman.Nice. The camping brand. And just kinda, eh, again, not really like a news catalyst, but just like a fun one here. You can go on the Vera Bradley website and they have some like cooler bags. Cooler backpacks and just some more outdoorsy kind of backpacks, but they're like really.Bear Bradley branded and they have some nice, like a nice design and stuff like that. Just a little fun one. There are there is like a limited space. If you think that Vera Bradley is very bare. Bradley is definitely a handbag and accessories brand. I think that they're, borderline like luxury and the luxury space is a relatively small space.Louis Vuitton is one of the. Companies in the world, one of the largest design companies in the world, that's definitely a play, but you can't really trade that very easily in the United States. Tapestry is your only other option, as far as I'm thinking of right now in the luxury apparel and accessories space. That's ticker TPR tapestry is this conglomerate. Now they own coach. They own. One second, he pumped the other one, Kate spade. I was blanking on that one for a sec, also own Kate spade and a couple of other luxury brands, Stuart Weitzman, a cool one for us to just round out our list for today.I thought that, yeah. Oh, I, by the way, I also like those like fashion press releases and I'm actually, when old Navy I think was recently announced a collaboration with the Simpsons, I'm getting I'm getting a little like. Bag a little, you got you order one. Yeah. Or it's the gut?The cloud from the intro and science, super yellow. I need one for Chicago and I'm walking around. So it's yeah, it's going to be super nice. I love those press releases to the super fun. The one that I scored on up maybe like a year ago was when a champion was a a release with Nintendo and they had a bunch of Mario branded like sweats and there was like a track.I don't remember that. I'm still a little jealous that cause didn't you get the overalls too? Yeah, the overalls are awesome. Awesome. Awesome. All right, folks. Thanks so much for tuning in today. That's going to wrap it up for us. We'll be back tomorrow. With another edition of bending is daily sacks. Watch podcast.Everybody have a great day. Good luck. S&P Futures are giving back some of yesterday's gains. Technology stocks will likely give back some of yesterday's gains after the opening bell, as traders assess the implications of the Fed's most move. The Federal Reserve hiked its benchmark interest rate by 50 basis points in a widely-expected move yesterday. Chairman Powell's comments that the Fed is not actively considering raising rates by 75 basis points send shares soaring. BofA said in a note, believes the Fed has pivoted to an appropriately hawkish stance and is likely done surprising markets for a while. We recommend focusing more on the data flow going forward, especially around labor and inflation. The economics calendar turns to weekly jobless claims ahead of Friday's nonfarm payrolls report. A wave of corporate earnings is due out after the bell today from SQ, ILMN, MCK, MNST, NET, DASH, ZG, DBX, BCC, and others.

Yay, episode 20 and I'm celebrating by bringing in my first guest, Craig Wealand, host of Aprender Inglés con Reza y Craig, a podcast that teaches English as a foreign language. I co-hosted En clave de podcast with Craig, and we learned loads, about podcasting and about the podcast-sphere in Spain, where Craig is based. Craig's show is aimed at mainly Spanish speakers with an intermediate or advanced level of English, who want to improve it. They cover grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, they give listening practice... 15.05 MINSFeedback is so important for a podcaster and Craig's show gets a lot of it. Their listeners tend to get in touch when they have a question or a suggestion for a topic. Pilar gets lots of feedback for Gastronostalgia, but it's all from friends and family, so she's waiting for the listener pool to evolve. 19.36 MINSPilar wants to know what Craig's recording set up looks like, as Reza goes to his house to record. By the way, Craig is very proud that they've never missed a weekly episode in all these years! During the pandemic when they recorded online, the challenge was to get good audio quality at Reza's home, because he's not set up for recording. Craig has a set of PR40 microphones and some Samson Q2Us for guests. He used to have a DBX 286s audio processor, which blocks out some of the breathing sounds, but now he uses a Rodecaster Pro. He also has a portable set up. They sit at opposite sides of the desk, to avoid bleeding from one microphone to the next. They rely heavily on facial and body gestures to guide the conversation. The whole experience is a social occasion for them, and you can hear that in the conversation. 30.45 MINSCraig runs the final mp3 file through Otter.io, and offers the transcript for his Patrons. Pilar wants to know how much work Craig does on the text file to correct the script, which also has some Spanish words of course. As an English teacher, he corrects a lot of the punctuation! Craig does the quality control as he's working on the transcript. 39.06 MINSCraig recently hit episode 400! And they've committed to another 400 episodes more! It's important to celebrate the different milestones as you progress through your podcast, because it's not easy to podcast consistently, but it's difficult to come up with different ways of marking these episodes. For episode 400, they talked about the different verb tenses. 48.13 MINS Given that they were recording in March 2022, Pilar wants to know how Craig deals with current affairs in the show, when things happen that are very much on the public's mind. They try to avoid them as they risk not making the show evergreen. However, they did record some episodes specifically about these events after people asked for them, like Brexit or the pandemic. Pilar asks Craig whether he's ever thought of giving up the podcast, he hasn't! Even during difficult times, they've managed to make that weekly commitment. To end the episode, Craig shares a memorable moment, when he met a loyal listener from Chile when he visited Valencia. Connect with Craig: Or look for Ingles podcast in your podcast app, or visit the website https://www.inglespodcast.com/ or connect on Twitter, where he is If you're thinking of starting your own podcasting adventure, I recommend Buzzsprout as host - click here for my affiliate link, which also gets you a little discount, and Riverside FM for recording, which you can access through this other affiliate link.

When the journey began, he used measurement tools that were accepted to be the world standard. After the first few steps he realised that the measurements he was getting were not as good as he believed they could be. He analyzed these tools carefully and realised that new standards would be necessary if he were to even come close to achieving the results he knew were possible. The first tool he designed to this new standard was an omnidirectional microphone. This led to the manufacture the OM1. David now thought that he could get back to designing his “dream” loudspeaker. His colleagues, however, persuaded him to design other microphones and preamplifiers. These products would soon set a new world standard for realism in the art of recording music. While the years passed and these new microphones and preamplifiers were being manufactured, David constantly worked on his goal of designing the best sounding loudspeaker for true audiophiles. He died in 2002 leaving the company in the hands of his family. While they no longer make the loudspeakers, the principles that David first envisioned when the journey began can still be seen in their microphones. Precision engineered and hand assembled, Earthworks microphones represent the pinnacle of technology and art in microphone design. Each microphone is hand-tuned and tested to ensure the purest and most realistic capture of your sound, be it live on stage, recording in the studio or out in the field.https://earthworksaudio.com/Sam Inglis BiogEditor In Chief Sam Inglis has been with Sound On Sound for more than 20 years. Last week's Fed meeting played to expectations - slightly tougher talk, limited changes in policy. The market's reaction was to pile back into the Covid winners, which meant SaaS stocks among others. So for today's episode, we follow up on our Fed discussion from last week, talking their decision and the market and media reaction. We then move over to the SaaS sector, our regular field. We break down three companies in detail – Zoom, PagerDuty, and Workday. We finish off with thoughts about the growth hangover that might plague COVID winners generally. Topics Covered 2:00 minute mark - Setting the scene on this market 10:45 - The whiplash effect and how this affects relative valuation 13:15 - Is long term investing in trouble? 17:30 - ZOOM, WORK, DBX as long-term examples of this phenomenon 28:00 - Finding the right pair trade... harder in this market? 35:00 - The general risk climate in the market 49:00 - Apple (AAPL) and 5G 54:15 - Given the issues, how are you going to trade for the year? 1:00:00 - Streaming vs. SaaS in terms of valuation 1:09:00 - Will there be a rush back into growth stocks in 2020?
