The Jay Franze Show: Your backstage pass to the entertainment industry
Send us a textWhat happens when a drummer catches fire mid-performance? Jay and Tiffany kick off with the startling news of Journey's drummer Dean Castronovo's fiery mishap during "Don't Stop Believing," which prompts a surprisingly unsympathetic reaction and an exploration of the physical demands placed on drummers. The conversation shifts to serious territory as Tiffany shares updates about Jay brothers' close call with California wildfires, highlighting the human impact behind headline news. This personal connection bridges seamlessly into entertainment industry updates, where the duo dissects Luke Bryan's Rodeo Houston honors, Morgan Wallen's chart dominance, and Lainey Wilson's ambitious global tour. Through these discussions, Jay offers rare insider perspectives on how touring actually works for different genres of musicians—country artists strategically planning weekend shows while rock bands grind through 200+ performances yearly. The heart of the episode emerges when they pose a seemingly simple question: "Who's your favorite one-hit wonder?" What follows is a joyous musical archeology expedition through songs that defined generations despite their creators never recapturing that lightning in a bottle. From Tommy Two-Tone's "867-5309/Jenny" (a phone number impossible to forget) to Los Del Rio's "Macarena" (still appearing at cheerleading events decades later), the conversation becomes a celebration of musical persistence beyond commercial success. Listeners eagerly contribute their own suggestions, creating a communal tapestry of songs that briefly dominated airwaves but permanently imprinted on our cultural consciousness.Between discussions of comedians on the rise and personal updates about family achievements, the episode captures the show's essence: authentic conversation that seamlessly blends entertainment industry insights with relatable human moments. Whether you're nostalgic for songs you haven't thought about in years or curious about how the entertainment world really works, this episode delivers with warmth, humor and unexpected depth.LinksJay Franze: https://JayFranze.comVirtually You: https://www.virtuallyyouva.com/ Support the show
Cowboys and cowgirls hold onto your hats because I am joined by the biggest female artist in country music right now, Lainey Wilson. In this episode Lainey reflects on her journey to the top of country music from growing up in a small town in Louisiana where she was a Hannah Montana impersonator (we do our own mini rendition of See You Again - you are welcome!), to moving to Nashville at 19 years old and living in a trailer for three years whilst trying to make it. Now Lainey is a Grammy Award Winner and has six county number ones and you are going to learn so much about the power of self belief in this episode! Lainey joined me ahead of headlining the Country To Country Festival at the 02 Arena and she also opens up about dealing with body shaming online, overcoming misogyny in the male dominated world of country music, and how experiences in her family taught her to look after her mental health. If that wasn't enough to fill you (cowboy) boots with, Lainey also shares some life advice she got from THE Dolly Parton and walks me through the ultimate night out OUT itinerary in Nashville. Pack your bags, we are going and if you love listening to Lainey as much as I did please get in touch with me across socials @joshsmithhosts as I always love hearing from you. We wanna hear from you! Send us a message here :) Critically acclaimed singer songwriter and rising Country music star, Adam Doleac, is taking the Nashville scene by storm with his unique signature sound. Born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Doleac initially chased his big-league dreams with a baseball scholarship to the University of Southern Mississippi, but soon realized his true calling was creating music. Self-taught on multiple instruments, Doleac became proficient in guitar, drums, and piano and soon decided to leave the sports world behind to pursue a music career. After a self-written song posted on YouTube propelled him to viral success and helped him secure a publishing deal, Doleac made the move to Nashville and spent several years penning lyrics for notable names including Kane Brown, Lainey Wilson, Dan + Shay, Nate Smith, Gabby Barrett, Darius Rucker, Hootie & the Blowfish, and more. In 2017, his self-titled debut EP produced GOLD-certified song “Famous” and was followed by his debut album, Barstool Whiskey Wonderland, released in 2022. Doleac's most recent album, about: TIME, was released in 2024 and takes the listener through some of his milestone moments in life with the universal message that time is love, and how we spend it is a reflection of who (or what) means the most to us. Now, Doleac has hit the ground running in 2025 with “Bye Heart,” “Dream House,” and new single “Bar Named Jesus” featuring global Country superstar Thomas Rhett. Written by Doleac along with Josh Jenkins and Chris LaCorte, the powerful track explores themes of redemption, forgiveness, and finding solace in faith while discovering a sense of belonging in a place of spiritual refuge - represented as "a bar named Jesus." With north of half a billion on-demand audio and video streams to date, Doleac's soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics have won over a legion of fans and audiences across the globe. With the release of “Bar Named Jesus,” the critically acclaimed Country troubadour is poised to continue the momentum toward an undoubtedly monumental year. Doleac is currently gearing up to release more new music, and fans can expect to catch Doleac on the road as he continues to solidify his place as a leading voice in Country music. Support the show
