As we are now a little over halfway through 2019, it’s time to check in and see how you are traveling in this Year of Permission. This message, delivered at the beginning of 2019, is full of God’s promises and purpose. He has gone before you this year as a guarantee of trust, and He is releasing you to know who you are in this time.

Special guest Allison Bown explores some of the keys that have been essential to her growth in the Lord. She’ll explain how building a habit of “Loving the Learning” will allow you to remain encouraged during those times of growth and development when you might feel off track.

In this week’s podcast we are going to dive deeper into the idea that you aren’t stuck, just on pause. As new creations in Christ, the only thing required of us is a level of intentionality with God to ask Him what He is doing and who He wants to be for us. The Father doesn’t put any time limits on our development. He always sees things as on time. He loves our whole life, not just the long game and He never sees us as stuck. He sees our full potential and is 100% dedicated to helping us realize it. So sometimes our process is on pause and He’s expecting us to trust in His nature and step into an upgraded way of travelling with Him.

It’s incredibly easy to become distracted when we think we’re stuck. It’s even easier to look for alternative solutions and to forget that God has already seen the outcome. We can easily assume it is our job to get unstuck before anything changes. But that’s not how the Father works. So, what if you only thought you were stuck? What if you were actually experiencing an invitation from the Father to upgrade your perspective? He doesn’t see us as stuck. He only sees opportunity for growth and relationship. God expects us to trust His Nature and step into an upgraded way of traveling with Him.

Do you ever feel like something in your life is holding you back? Are you aware of a certain problem that might be blocking God from being more active in your life? The idea that you are unable to grow in a certain area until something is fixed is actually a common mindset. But that mindset isn’t one that God has. When Jesus died on the cross, so did your flaws and shortcomings...and your excuses.

We are all advertising something everyday. Our words and actions tell others about us and what we believe about ourselves. So what are you advertising? Are you advertising stress and frustration? Or are you advertising what it means to have the Holy Spirit in your life, who is your helper, trainer and comforter? When you understand that we are all advertising something, you can intentionally advertise something different than the world.

When God says something about Himself, you can pick up on that promise and take it to heart. Since He is always constant, it is a key that opens the door each day to the presence of God; your own North Star that never changes. This has become a mindset that is now a solid foundation in my relationship with God: pick one truth, and be true to it. Always. Living (and rejoicing) in His promises, will build trust regarding the nature of God and will empower you to push back on the enemy and rise above any situation.

As we pursue God our vision begins to unfold. We get a picture of who God wants to be for us. Inevitably, obstacles will appear on our journey. Obstacles can point to many different areas of growth or overcoming. Some obstacles are meant to elevate us. Some are meant to slow us down so we don’t miss a crucial part of learning. And some obstacles help us raise our sight and develop larger vision for who we are and what God wants to do in our lives.

As we pursue God our vision begins to unfold. We get a picture of who God wants to be for us. Inevitably, obstacles will appear on our journey. Some obstacles are meant to elevate us. Some are meant to slow us down so we don’t miss a crucial part of learning. And some obstacles help us raise our sight and develop larger vision for who we are and what God wants to do in our lives.

Life in the Spirit is about who we are becoming in Jesus. We have to think in terms of who are we going to become? How do we upgrade our identity for the things that we’re doing and who we want to be the situations we’re in? It’s easy for us to become discouraged about who we are in the here and now, but God speaks from our future into our present. We don’t have a limited identity, that’s not who we are in the Kingdom. The Kingdom sees us in the context of fullness.

What do you do when you’re being judged? When the environment around you is poison and toxic and it seems to suck you into a deep vat of negativity. It’s a good time to remember that it’s never about other people and what they are saying about you. It’s about the Lord and what He’s saying to you. What’s His perspective about the whole thing?

What is possible in a life of constant peace? If you had peace right now, what would you be seeing? What would you be saying? How would you be feeling? The truth is, Jesus is never negative; He is always positive and He is always in us. Knowing this truth means we never have to react negatively to a situation because peace is so compelling. There’s a whole range of spiritual emotions that belong to us. Many of them are found in the fruit of the Spirit. Today’s podcast highlights the simple truths of practicing self-control. The “pause button” of self-control can put us and our circumstance on hold while we spend a moment formulating a response from the THE Truth...Jesus. So here’s the thought: what is possible in a life of constant peace?

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed by events surrounding your life? How do you stay on top? The truth is, if we are in Christ, then so are all of our circumstances. He is in us, we are a habitation in Him and we can’t be separated. So if we can’t be separated from the love of God, then neither can our circumstances be separated from the presence and power of God. Our circumstances are no problem. We can rejoice in the fact that we are learning who God is for us in those circumstances. And the best news? Every problem comes with a promise attached to it. So what’s your promise? What’s your blessing?

Heaven has a right of possession over us in Christ, giving it the right to acquire our problems and provoke God’s favor to overcome them. We have favor with God through our placement in Christ, granting us an intentional bias in His heart and empowering us to ask Him for the things that are in line with His loving-kindness towards us. When God blesses us, He blesses Himself, because He is in us and we are in Him. As we stand in His blessing, we are able to see ourselves as He does, rest in the fullness of His perception, and connect with His heart.

Rejoicing is where we match God’s purpose and intention with our own and say “‘yes and amen” to who He wants to be for us. It’s agreement and engagement with who He really is. It’s not event driven; it’s a lifestyle that’s cultivated through all our circumstances, where we learn to engage with the nature of God. Through rejoicing, we can see how God wants to turn everything around and make it work for our good because it empowers us to receive when we are under pressure. It keeps us away from giving into fear, doubt, and unbelief by causing us to remain fresh in faith and the Lord’s presence.

The key to all spirituality is majesty because it gives us a sense of who God is in everything that we do and experience. Majesty governs how we think about the Lord, our expectations of Him, and our experience of His favor in our life. When we develop a majestic understanding and experience of God’s nature, we can know the absolute adoration of the Father, cultivate peace that surpassess understanding, and encounter a joy that becomes who we are. By entering into majesty, we have the opportunity to become the happiest individual on the face of the earth. Anything less than majesty in our relationship with God is an inferior way to live.

It’s not difficult to discover the depths of God’s feelings for us. We have a home in His deepest affections and favor to remain close to Him. When the enemy digs a pit to ensnare us, God promises to fill it with blessings, favor and promises so that we can become the exact opposite of what he intended. As we grow into a deep place of romance and intimate love with the Father, we can become confident in the truth that nothing can work against us because we know He is for us. We become occupied with His greatness instead of our smallness.

We can live a life of celebration, knowing that God is powerful, faithful and wonderful on our behalf by giving thanks for who He is and who we are becoming in Him. I continually give thanks to God for being the kindest person I have ever met in my entire life. We get to rejoice in what a great God He is, and for the brilliant life in Jesus He has freely given us, celebrating Him on our daily journey. My prayer is that we will love who we are becoming in Jesus and that we will be excellent for Him because He deserves excellence. Enjoy listening to the Father’s heart for you and receive the joy of His presence.

When we walk with God, peace is one of the most tangible signs of His presence. He promises that we will always have a deposit of peace in our life because He is the God of peace, the very Prince of Peace. His peace empowers us to live a life that is untroubled and full of rest, where fear is not allowed and anxiety is rejected. We just get to say “yes” to peace and partner with God so He can become rest for us.

The Fruit of the Spirit is an encounter with God that leads us into an ongoing experience of who He is, creating a place for us to learn how we can abide in His nature. They give us the power of God and enable us to become Christ-like, which is always His primary intention. By cultivating the Fruit of the Spirit, we can turn everything the enemy seeks to bring against us around by moving in the opposite spirit, afflicting him instead, and stepping into a specific aspect of who God wants to be for us.

The old you is irrelevant, useless and out-of-date, and has no power to make itself new. However, our old mindsets, practices, language and lifestyle can contain the Holy Spirit and prevent us from discovering who we really are in Jesus. In our everyday life with God we have numerous opportunities to identify our true nature in Jesus as new creations and explore the consequences of being buried, united, and crucified with Him.

The mind of Christ allows us to turn a weakness into a joyful vulnerability to His goodness. In Him, we get to take all negative thoughts captive and turn them into brilliant ones. Our mindset is either working for us or against us, and through our new mind in Jesus, we always have upgrades in thinking available to us. If your thinking has brought you to a place you don’t like, you have the opportunity and ability to have another thought.

Transformation comes by the renewing of our mind. As we upgrade the way we see, think, and speak about what God is doing and who we are becoming, we have the opportunity to renew our spiritual lenses. Our perspective of God’s nature and who He wants to be for us will either lead us to fullness or into measure. His truth sets us free and empowers us to have a fresh encounter with our true identity in Jesus.

Spiritual warriors walk humbly with God because they know humility is not timidity. They live from the reality of having confidence access to God through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. Humility has a deep strength attached to it, giving us a firm assurance and total reliance upon the nature of God and who He wants to be for us no matter our circumstances.

We have the opportunity to become a spiritual warrior that fights from the total majesty and the absolute certainty of God’s unchanging nature. When we feel intimidated by life’s situations, we have an opportunity to upgrade our intimacy with His nature and come into an experience of what He is really like. Spiritual warriors are people who confidently make choices about where and how to focus their internal attention so they live from the inside to the outside, establishing confidence as their hallmark.

Abiding is about dwelling, living and remaining in the space God has created between Jesus and Himself. This gives us a place to have an intimate connection with both the Father and the Son, and the privilege of remaining there as the beloved. By consciously abiding in God, we can increase our intimate connection with Him and further explore the depths of His love.

Every circumstance gives us the opportunity to think brilliantly about God, ourselves, and the situation we are in. The key is learning to think with Jesus and live from His mind, so we can receive the upgrades available to us in these situations. No matter what is going on, there is only one way to think and only one thought to have in any situation, and that is the one Jesus is having.

Our role in the earth is to be loved by God and then respond to that love. God gives us His love so we can be restored to His passion for us, which is defined by the way He loves and speaks about Jesus. He wants us to hear the sound of His heart for us so we can come into a revelation and then an experience of how He feels about us, giving us a deeper understanding of what it means to be the beloved.

Rest is the tangible expression of God’s presence. When we practice it, we’ll feel His touch, hear His voice, and experience His presence in a renewed way. Rest allows us to guard our inner territory and displace any negatives trying to infiltrate our lives because it’s a brilliant weapon against the enemy.

Victory is our starting place in the Kingdom. We don’t need to get anywhere in our situations because we are already there in Jesus, giving us a breakthrough and victory that has already been assigned to us. We can’t live in Jesus and not be highly favored. Now, we get to explore this starting place and what it means for our current life circumstances. This place of victory shows us how we get to turn our problems and situations into an opportunity for upgrades, blessings, and promises.

Rest is an integral part of our inheritance in the Kingdom because it gives us the capacity to view life from a God-conscious perspective and grows our confidence to inherit. This empowers us to step into the assurance that God is not only present but He is actually working in our life situations. When we live in rest, we are empowered to think of all the possibilities God has for us and possess the possession He wants to give us. Rest is the key to overcoming our trust issues so that we can receive our provisions, blessings, and ultimately the fullness of our inheritance.

God wants to have several relationships with us so we can experience Him in completely different ways. Each one of these relationships is key for different stages of our development in Him. When we look at Jesus’ life, we see Him grow through four distinct stages with each one having the elements of placement and portrayal. These stages show us how God wants us to be and how He wants us to live so He can make us like Jesus. As we look at Jesus, we are actually seeing a version of ourselves and then learning how to practice what we are discovering with those around us.

When God hears the world, He hears something different than we do. He listens to the longings, hunger, and cries in people’s hearts. Yet, do we hear the desperation and the cries of wounded people? And furthermore how are we going to display God’s original intention towards them? The Church is designed to be a redeemed community in a reconciled society and the only organization on earth that exists for the benefits of its non-members. For God, the test of viable spirituality is how well we love each other. He wants the Church to be a community of people where we practice love and grace on each other so that we can show these attributes of His nature off to the world.

God knows when we do something for the first time, we are going to make a mistake, but He doesn’t call it a mistake. He sees it as learning because we haven’t done it before. When He looks at us, He sees us complete in Christ and made in the image of Jesus. He doesn’t perceive anything wrong with us because He put all those things onto Jesus on the cross, taking them away from us forever. Now, we can explore our identity as a new creation and as we grow up, we get to love the learning and enjoy the process of who we are becoming in Him.

As we walk with God through life, we are learning to handle both the extreme situations and the joyful tensions. Setbacks and tough days are opportunities to develop a greater resilience. We may think victory is about never knowing defeat; but, in the Kingdom, it’s actually about knowing God in all the areas of our lives on the good and the bad days. In our relationship with Him, everything is about training. All spiritual training is relational because we are learning how to relate to God and experience the consistency of His nature for us no matter the day.

God has designed a spirituality so profound that on our worst day it’s magnificent. God gives us the upper hand in places we have known defeat and elevates us to a higher place of victory than we have ever known. Several years ago, the Lord began to talk to me about my need in life to perfect the art of bouncing back. This was the first time, I began to learn not only about favor but also about vengeance. God has ordained our lives in a particular way so when we experience defeat, He takes us to a greater place than the one we fell from. Grace is just not about a restoration to where we were, it’s about God in the majesty of His wisdom taking us to a higher place.

It’s time to move into the favor and promises of the Lord over our lives by no longer being weighed down by negativity. Fear, doubt, and unbelief do not have a place in our hearts or minds because Jesus paid a price for them to be completely removed. Where the world has taught us that we have to pay our dues and work our way up to the top in order to become successful, the Kingdom says that all our dues have been paid in full by Jesus. God is looking for a people who actually believe we can have everything He promises because of the price Jesus paid. This is not just a price for all our sins and negativity; it includes the fulfillment of our identity and dreams.

The lens of the Kingdom gives us the unique perspective of Jesus which will renew our thinking and elevate our identity in the new man. When we have a natural mindset towards life, we always call God down into our weakness rather than allowing Him to elevate us into the strength and power of His perspective. Living in the natural mind of the old man changes nothing for us because we cannot hear the Truth and we are bound to our experience in the world. In the Kingdom, every circumstance provides an opportunity to renew our way of perceiving so we can focus on who God is, what He is actually doing and the divine advantage He is giving us. His perspective gives us a reality for the Kingdom, which has the power to override our earthly way of looking at ourselves and our circumstances.

There is only one life! Christ in you provides the same power and privilege that He enjoyed as a Son. When you live fully in Him, you walk in expectation that will always be greater than your circumstances. This means there is only one life for us to be living: the life that He lives. There is no duality in Christ; there are not two lives trying to connect. There is only one life: Christ in you and you in Christ. Christ in us provides all the same privilege as Jesus has with the Father. We have the same grace, power, and capacity as Jesus does in all things. We also have His perception, mindset, and language. God holds nothing back from us in Christ.

The lens of the Kingdom gives us the unique perspective of Jesus, which will renew our thinking and elevate our identity in the new man. His perspective offers an entirely different way of seeing, thinking, speaking, and acting. It is the way, the truth and the life of how we live in the Kingdom with the Father. This is all part of the tremendous divine advantage that God has given us when He recreated us in Jesus. It’s our Newness Advantage, and that is what I want to explore with you.

I adore God's perspective on the power of the cross, the impact it has on every corner of our life, and how He uses it constantly to set us free; to remind us of who we are in Christ! And to overpower every oppositional and negative perspective, mindset and language. I hope you enjoy exploring this reality with me.

Walking with big Jesus is about letting go of any poverty thinking, and learning to develop a majesty mindset in terms of who we are becoming in the Lord. God is enlarging our perspective in terms of what we see in Him for us, because we are learning to walk with big Jesus. In this process, we want to constantly be asking the Lord: “What do you see in me and what is it you want to be for me?” When God speaks to us, His promises elevate us to a place of victory, setting us free from all negativity. It’s never about us; it’s always about who God is and who He wants to be for us, and then partnering with the Holy Spirit to capitalize on these promises.

Grace is not undeserved favor. Grace is the empowering presence of God, that enables you to become the man or the woman that God sees when He looks at you. There is an everlasting supply of grace for us to live from. Many of us have been taught that grace is undeserved favor, but if this were true then Jesus never had any. Grace gives us this incredible confidence in who God is for us, empowering us to always be working from a place of fellowship with Him.

Worship is not really for the Lord; rather it is for us because it makes us vulnerable to His goodness. Praise, worship, and thanksgiving create an environment for us to overcome the enemy and get on top of our circumstances through connecting to His nature and producing a flow back into our own spirit.

His promises take all the pressure out of our situations and enable us to come to a place of rest in God. Promises from Him can literally mean the difference between life and death. Promises are everything to God, and therefore should be everything to us. His promises take all the pressure out of our situations and enable us to come to a place of rest in God. Unfortunately, we won’t see many of His promises to us fulfilled without first learning about His unchanging nature and who He is for us.
