But more importnatly, did the Galaxy learn something about how they want to play in 2023? The guys will discuss the formations and personnel that made the win possible. After surviving the Portland Timbers, surely an energized Galaxy side would be able to handle a lower division Sacramento Republic side. Not so fast. In fact, really slow and plodding. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Christian Miles discuss the many ways the Galaxy failed to meet the intensity of a US Open Cup game that was played just about as perfectly as you could have hoped by USL side Sacramento Republic. What did Greg Vanney see on the night, and why are several players who may have just played themselves out of playing time down the stretch? And what did the loss reveal about the Galaxy's summer needs? Will they be going for a Central Attacking Midfielder (CAM)? And should you be worried about them finding the right piece? Also, Josh and Christian will talk about the postponed Cali-Clasico and the likely reason the Galaxy aren't headed to a different stadium to play this weekend. And surprise... it's about MONEY. They had to battle for a draw against a Portland Timbers side that pressed all the right buttons, they have to get ready for a Sacramento Republic team that wants to prove they're MLS ready, and then they'll travel to take on San Jose in the Cali-Clasico. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman (LA Galaxy beat writer) and Kevin Baxter (LA Times Soccer Reporter) discuss the Galaxy's battle against the Timbers and why head coach Greg Vanney probably didn't see the game the same way you did. What did fans make of the combination of Dejan Joevljic and Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez? And why was the midfield once again at the center of the post-game discussion? Is the 3-5-2 the solution to everyone's problems? But does that also mean the Galaxy need a central attacking midfielder? Does Vanney want a CAM? Josh and Kevin will walk you through some of the charts that tell the story of the Galaxy through the first 15 games, and they'll whisper about how loud Joveljic is with his scoring streak. Then the guys shift to looking at a stingy Sacramento side led by former LA Galaxy Defender Todd Dunivant. Will the President of the Sacramento Republic make his former club nervous when they come to town playing the exact type of soccer with which the Galaxy have trouble? Josh and Kevin discuss what they see in this game and why this is truly one of the year's biggest games with a chance to be two wins from a major trophy.
