The LA Galaxy remain winless after losing 1-0 to the San Jose Earthquakes in the latest Cali Clasico on Wednesday, May 28, which prompted boos once again from the stands at the Diggity. Although the Galaxy should have won this game, they somehow dropped this match on what else, lax defending. MLS & Apple TV Play-By-Play Announcer Mark Rogondino will be on to help us break down the Galaxy's latest defeat. We'll cover why the Galaxy isn't taking advantage of their good starts or offensive opportunities, misfiring DP's, what the Galaxy needs to “do better,” and if this season is already over for the defending MLS Cup champions. Plus, is a goalkeeper starting to show why the Galaxy spent a milli on him? Special Guest MLS & Apple TV Play-By-Play Announcer, Mark Rogondino

In this episode of the Drive Pink Dialogue podcast, Scotty and Saur discuss Inter Miami's 3-3 draw with San Jose Earthquakes, Lionel Messi, Yannick Bright, Oscar Ustari, Chelo Weigandt, what went right, how Javier Mascherano managed the game, and as always, they give out some awards.
Inter Miami's struggles continued during a two-game road trip that yielded but one point, and adding to it all was the near sending off of Lionel Messi. Co-hosts Franco Panizo and Andrea Yanez talk Messi's run-in with referee Joe Dickerson, analyze the defensive issues in the 4-1 loss to Minnesota United and 3-3 draw with the San Jose Earthquakes, dive into Luis Suarez's absence, and more in a jam-packed episode.
In this Instant Reaction with the Drive Pink Dialogue, Scotty and Saur react to Inter Miami's match against the San Jose Earthquakes, take in the moment with the fans, and interact with the chat. All emotion.
In this episode of the Designated Players Podcast, we continue our series where we retell the stories of MLS history. We've gone through all the team's subreddits and asked for different stories they remember about their teams, and we've got a list of almost all of them. We are going to do our research and then come together to retell everyone about those stories and give them the spotlight they deserve. This week we're talking about outfield player Eddie Gaven in goal for the Columbus Crew, followed by the 2010 Eastern Conference Semifinals between, ironically enough, the Colorado Rapids and San Jose Earthquakes.0:00 - Scarf of the Week2:04 - Gaven in Goal8:44 - 2010 Eastern Conference Semifinals#MLS #MLSCup #mlscupplayoffs #ATLUTD #atlantaunited #austinfc #charlottefc #forthecrown #cf97 #chicagofire #fccincinnati #fcc #allforcincy #coloradorapids #rapids96 #columbuscrew #crew96 #dcu #dcunited #fcdallas #dtid #houstondynamo #holditdown #sportingkc #skc #lagalaxy #losangeles #lafc #intermiami #intermiamicf #messi #lionelmessi #minnesotaunited #mnufc #legionofloons #cfmtl #cfmontreal #nashvillesc #everyonen #newenglandrevolution #nerevs #newyorkredbulls #rbny #NYCFC #newyorkcity #orlandocity #orlandocitysc #philadelphiaunion #DOOP #portlandtimbers #RCTID #RSL #realsaltlake #sanjoseearthquakes #quakes74 #seattlesounders #sounders #stlouiscity #STL #allforcity #TFCLive #torontofc #vancouverwhitecaps #VWFC #USL #uslchampionship #mlsseasonpass #AppleTV #adRecorded on: 5/10/2025Let us know your thoughts and if we got it right or right! Hello Colorado Rapids fans. This week on Holding The High Line, Red is in Pittsburgh for a wedding and staying with Rabbi. We recorded from the famous Micheal Azira Memorial Podcasting Basement. This episode had so much lore you guys. We banter about Pittsburgh Cookie Tables and hanging out with the wonderful Goodman family. Including the Stout Street Pitbull himself, Zoobie (Do). The guys break down Colorado Rapids 0-2 loss to San Jose Earthquakes. Connor Ronan got a start. Cole Bassett came off the bench. What's up with the 4-2-2-2 right now? Why has this team now given up 12 goals in the final five minutes of halves plus stoppage time? What's going on? We've got ideas. Get yourself a Voodoo Clock to break the bad juju this week. Then we look ahead to the first double game week of the season. At San Diego FC on Wednesday. Then back at home for the first leg of the Rocky Mountain Cup against Real Salt Lake. We discuss the state of RSL and Pablo Mastroeni going back to the Mastronaccio. It's Matt's Birthday Weekend. What could possibly go wrong? Also, scarves are on the way if you haven't gotten yours yet! Email us with questions on that.
The Rapids and Earthquakes choose to trade home losses. The Rapids had several good opportunities but the Earthquakes so no. The same problems that have plagued the Rapids this season showed again and they lose 2-0. Connor Cape and Drew Moor break it all down regarding what went wrong at DSGP!
On the latest episode of The San Jose Earthquakes The Soccer Hour, Ted talks about Saturday's win against Portland, chats with SJEQ assistant coach Shalrie Joseph, and previews the next match against Colorado with Marcel Balboa of MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Hello Colorado Rapids fans. Holding The High Line is back after Red's trip to England Rabbi's lost power. We break down Colorado's 2-1 loss at D.C. United and much more. Matt discusses his week off, Fulham games, history adventures with the girlfriend and all. We touch on the 1-1 draw with Seattle Sounders but go more in depth on the United game. What went well? Do the Rapids need more leadership? What's up with things going wrong at the end of halves? We discuss. Update: We might have gotten some stuff wrong on Chris Armas missing the D.C. United game because of his Hall of Fame induction. We understand he missed the game because of a mechanical issue, not weather. Maybe a charter flight or private jet would have prevented the problem all together. Then we talk about all the soccer news. Michael Edwards got loaned to Charleston Battery. Colorado is close to signing Australian center back Lucas Herrington, as first brought up by Judgmental Jim. A match against LAFC might be rescheduled. We're hyped for the Unified Teams' May 17 game. Denver NWSL has added Mikaela Shiffrin to their ownership group ahead of the city council vote on $70 million in public funding for the project. The Denver Post, Denverite, and City Cast Denver did a great job covering this issue, tax increment financing (TIF) and all. We preview the big match against San Jose Earthquakes. Also, Switchbacks lost to RBNY in Open Cup.

For the Glory KC is back with the 131st episode of the show!Sporting Kansas City made Major League Soccer history this week. While it's not the history that anyone really wants to make, taking zero shots in a game, the part that is historic is they won. No team in the 30 years of MLS has ever failed to take a single shot and still found a way to win.The 1-0 win over the basement dwelling LA Galaxy wasn't easy. Los Angeles had two of their Designated Players in the starting lineup and arguably their strongest lineup since MLS Cup 2024. Despite that, they fell for Sporting KC's first home 1-0 win since August 27, 2022 against the San Jose Earthquakes. The Galaxy's own goal from captain Yoshida, left SKC with a 0.00 expected goals (xG) mark, in victory. The game featured an amazing defensive output from goalkeeper John Pulskamp and center backs Jansen Miller and Robert Voloder (earning Robi team of the week honors). It also featured a trio of injuries for Logan Ndenbe and LA's DPs, Gabriel Pec and Joseph Paintsil. On top of everything else it was Star Wars night and the Sporting KC media game. To cover all of that, guest host Kevin Ferstl of Seven. One Magazine joined me for the show with Sheena out of town (she's back next week).Despite the good results in Kansas City, the same wasn't present for the KC Current who lost 1-0 on the road to the Seattle Reign in controversial fashion. In the Digital Crawl, we touch on a few more topics, including:SKC II continue their strugglesVancouver Whitecaps make CCC finalDesiree Scott's first professional goal! Here is a rundown of topics (and approximate start times):Sporting KC are breaking records - 9:12KC Current lose with controversy - 53:22Digital Crawl - 1:06:28Upcoming GamesSporting KC @ Portland Timbers - Sat. Pete and Mel spent last weekend visiting the wonderful Bumble's Backyard in Columbus before returning to Lower.com for yet another Crew home win, this time over San Jose Earthquakes. They have a little chat about both, but it was such a tiring trip (sleep is no longer a thing for us), that we only lasted 13 minutes, so instead got GUEST Chris LaMacchia to come on and save us with stories about the MLS stadiums he's been to.00:00 - 13:04 - Intro with Pete & Mel13:05 - 01:10:08 - MLS stadium chat with ChrisGet in touch @ new2thecrew96@gmail.com or IG: New2thecrew96
After another great win, Aaron, Matt and Scott get together to talk Timbers and Galaxy. The discussion highlights a few performances before diving into a topic that was lost on last weeks pod, transfer news around Miguel and new signing Omir Fernandez. Finally, the group discusses what to expect this weekend as the Timbers go down to face the San Jose Earthquakes.
Hosts Judah Newby and Jake Zivin dive into the Timbers' dominant 4-2 win over the LA Galaxy last weekend and take a closer look at Bruce Arena and his San Jose Earthquakes as they're up next for Portland in the Bay Area. They are joined by the Timbers' newest signing, midfielder Omir Fernandez.
We survived episode 500 to bring you 501. The Crew capture all three points at home from the Bruce Arena led San Jose Earthquakes despite not playing their best game. Murph, Brett, Bart, and Sam break down how this took place. Columbus now starts a tougher stretch which kicks off with Charlotte at the LDC.
For the Glory KC is back with the 130th episode of the show!Sporting Kansas City continued their up and down form with a loss to FC Cincinnati after a fun win last weekend against the San Jose Earthquakes. Even though the results didn't go their way, it was a pretty competitive game. Many pundits are picking Cincy to win the Supporters Shield, MLS Cup or both and Sporting KC hung right there with them. If not for a "goal of the year candidate," maybe they earn the result. We talk about all the key moments from the Sporting KC game, including Zorhan Bassong's first professional goal, why Jacob Bartlett is taking free kicks, Keven Denkey's ridiculous goals and other random observations.Beyond just the game, it was transfer deadline week for the Major League Soccer primary transfer window and Sporting KC were busy. They made a signing and a trade and set themselves up to be active in the summer transfer window (they have to spend the GAM they acquired). The signing is 22-year-old Mexican American striker Santiago Munoz (more on him here). His arrival cleared the way for Mike Burns to deal William Agada to Real Salt Lake. Willy isn't the only former SKC player to end up in Salt Lake City this week as Johnny Russell also made the move. We talk about RSL as a rival, worse potential destinations (there is only one) and everything else related to those moves.Usually, we count on the KC Current to lift our spirits but somehow nothing went right in KC soccer (including SKC II). The Current were stunned late against the North Carolina Courage, breaking all kinds of streaks. In the Digital Crawl, we touch on a few more topics, including:SKC II signing and a two-loss weekThe NWSL is trying to start a new second divisionHere is a rundown of topics (and approximate start times):Sporting KC fall in a close one with Cincy - 4:52A signing, an Agada trade and goodbye Johnny Russell - 28:08KC Current lose a stunner - 52:01Digital Crawl - 1:08:58Upcoming GamesSKC II @ Austin FC II, Friday, May 2nd at 7:30PM CDTKC Current @ Seattle Reign, Friday, May 2nd at 9:30PMSporting KC vs. LA Galaxy, Sunday, May 4th at 6:00PMAs a special gift to For the Glory KC listeners and KC Soccer Journal readers, Backheeled dot com is giving away 30 days of their amazing, independent American soccer coverage for free. For the Glory KC is back with the 129th episode of the show!Sporting Kansas City played a wild, eight goal thriller over the weekend against the San Jose Earthquakes. We celebrated the double KC win too hard and had to push podcast recording until Monday and it got weird. Welcome to For the Glory KC After Dark III.When we stayed on topic, we moved through all the delightful, exciting goals from Daniel Salloi, Manu Garcia, Logan Ndenbe and Erik Thommy. Plus, so many assists, including a goalkeeper assist by John Pulskamp (and a fun story from Salloi about it).But we definitely got off topic talking Sporting KC trialist Dru Yearwood, which led into Dru Hill, the "Thong Song" and Dejan Joveljic's inappropriate gesture. We also have to discuss the officiating that could have marred the results by Joe Dickerson. He was inconsistent and missed a foul that could have really injured Ndenbe. Chicho Arango's nonsense went basically unpunished, but at least Jansen Miller continued his "villain" role. The KC Current broke the record for the most wins in a row in NWSL history. It was so dominant it was almost a little boring (though we'll take boring!) with the thorough victory over the Houston Dash. The team was depleted and still looked pretty unstoppable. And the KC Current II are back and participating in TST.In the Digital Crawl, we touch on a few more topics, including:US Open Cupset UpdateCam Duke on the moveCeCe Kizer tooHere is a rundown of topics (and approximate start times):Sporting KC win a Wild 8-goal Thriller - 3:18SKC Round-up - 37:33KC Current break the Wins Record - 51:41Digital Crawl - 1:05:20Upcoming GamesSKC II vs. Tacoma Defiance, Wed. Although they don't exactly ignore Saturday's 1-1 tie with the San Jose Earthquakes, Jeremiah and Aaron spend most of the show discussing the impact of Ryan Kent's addition and how that could ultimately impact the way the Sounders play.
On this week's episode, co-hosts Steve Zakuani and Brad Evans recap a 0-0 draw to the Houston Dynamo at Lumen Field, before quickly turning the page and to preview Saturday's road match against the San Jose Earthquakes, a team that has been a thorn in the side of the Sounders for the past few seasons. Then, the guys are joined by longtime Sounders broadcaster Michelle Ludtka, who shares her memories covering the team and discusses her new role at FOX 13. Got questions for Brad and Steve? For the Glory KC is back with the 124th episode of the show!Sporting Kansas City dropped their most recent match with LAFC 2-0. It was their 11th loss in their last 12 games with the only other result being last week's draw against Minnesota United. Of course, we have to discuss what happened in the game and what needs to change. But the biggest question, other than the job security of Peter Vermes (which we address), is 'When will Sporting KC win again?'The upcoming schedule has games that appear more winnable than others, but nothing about recent trends suggest Sporting KC are in a good position to win. Here are the next 10 games and the team's current point total:@ FC Dallas (7 points)vs. St. Louis City (8 points)vs. Portland Timbers (7 points)@ San Jose Earthquakes (6 points)@ FC Cincinnati (7 points)vs. LA Galaxy (2 points)@ Portland Timbers (6 points)@ St. Louis City (8 points)@ San Diego FC (8 points)vs. New England Revolution (1 point)When do you realistically think Sporting KC can win a game? Let us know in the comments.Beyond the abysmal current state of Sporting Kansas City, Sheena and I delve into the results of the US Open Cup against the Des Moines Menace, talk about the Johan Ortiz signing and Alenis Vargas finds a new home. Finally, the KC Current had themselves another delightful week. They went on the road and beat the previously perfect Washington Spirit, leaving just KC and Orlando Pride as perfect teams. We delve into some bright spots in the game that included VAR (seriously), Lorena and of course Temwa, including a fantastic Temwa Chawinga stat. Hello Rank Squad! It's nearly time for kick-off in MLS' 30th season, so we thought it was the right time to sit down and take a look at how things are shaping up ahead of a landmark campaign. We start with Dean's new hometown club of San Diego FC, examining how the 30th franchise in the league are looking ahead of their maiden voyage in the Western Conference; before moving things on to the contenders to challenge for the Supporters' Shield, and, later on, MLS Cup. We examine reigning champions LA Galaxy, their crosstown rivals Los Angeles FC and the Seattle Sounders in the West, with a word to the San Jose Earthquakes; before heading over East to take a peek at Supporters' Shield holders Inter Miami, big-spending Atlanta United, a new era at FC Cincinnati, and the Dean Smith evolutions at Charlotte FC. Finally, we move onto the individual players and new signings who could make all the difference, from 2024 MVP Lionel Messi, through the fresh strikers of Emmanuel Latte Lath and Kevin Denkey, Wilfried Zaha at Charlotte, the returning Miguel Almiron, a big intra-league transfer in Evander, and many more. It's Ranks! And remember, if you'd like more from the Rank Squad, including extra podcasts every Monday and Friday (including our weekly Postbox taking a look at the whole weekend of football) and access to our brilliant Discord community, then why not join us here on Patreon?
