In this episode of Do The Work | Mindset Mastery... I looked around at our momentum and realized how far we have come. But here is the truth. Growth is never without pain. The market will expose those who do not adjust. It will reveal who is willing to adapt, learn, and push through. I had to remind myself that the grind never stops. And even in the tough moments, I cannot forget the promises I made to myself when I was down. That is where the fire comes from. The story This week I reflected on how the tide of the market exposes everything. When the tide is high, everyone wins. But when the tide goes low, you find out who has the mindset to keep going. I compared it to my own journey. From being recognized as a top agent, to building teams, to running one of the largest brokerages in the state, every level required me to change. It required me to sharpen my skills, build new systems, and keep showing up even when the industry shifted. And that is exactly what is happening now. Many agents are walking away, but many of us are growing faster than ever because we stay in the fight. What shifted The shift happened when I stopped wishing someone else would fix my problems. I used to want someone to run my ads, handle my follow up, or even train my agents for me. But no one is coming to save you. The moment I took full responsibility for my business was the moment everything changed. I became a better trainer, a better communicator, and a better leader. I learned to simplify the game and help new agents close quickly. That ownership made all the difference. The same goes for how we handle trauma. Pain can keep you stuck, or it can push you to grow. I call it post traumatic growth. I lived it after surviving a shooting. Paulina lived it after hitting rock bottom and then selling fifteen million in one year. The difference was a decision to flip the switch. The lesson The lesson is simple. Stop waiting for someone else to fix your life or your business. Take the pain, take the pressure, and use it as fuel. The growth will come when you own every part of the process. Put it to work Track the only KPIs that matter: appointments, commitments, escrows, and closings. Stop wishing for help and start building your own process. Decide today to flip the switch and turn pain into power. Conclusion The market will always test you. It will expose who you really are. Do not waste years wishing someone would come fix things for you. Take ownership and swing the pendulum in your favor. The power is already in you. The only question is what you will do with it today. Reader engagement questions What promises did you make to yourself during your toughest moments, and are you living up to them? Where in your business are you still waiting for someone else to take responsibility? How can you turn your current pain into the power that fuels your next level of growth? Notable quotes "No one is going to come in and fix your business. No one can run it better than you." "The power came when I stopped asking why me and started asking what now." "Pain is no longer pain when you decide to turn it into purpose." Follow A.Z. Araujo on Social Media: Instagram: @azaraujo Facebook: A.Z. Araujo TikTok: A.Z. In this episode of Do The Work | Mindset Mastery... We just got back from a family trip that we had been talking about for months. For us, planning usually means speaking it into existence, not locking in every detail months ahead. This time was different because Carla and I made a conscious choice before we left. We decided this would be our best trip yet, and we were going to plan not only for the good moments but also for the things that could go wrong. That decision changed everything. What happened Before we even left, Carla and I sat down and set the tone. We talked about how we would handle frustrations so they would not ruin the experience. That mattered because the trip tested us right away. Delayed flights, missed connections, lost luggage, and canceled plans could have derailed everything. Instead, we kept our focus on the bigger picture. There were moments where my old habits almost kicked in. When my daughter's bag went missing with some of her most valued belongings, my instinct was to ask why she packed certain things that way. But I checked myself. Carla and I gave her the space to feel upset and reminded her it was only material things. That shift in energy kept the trip on track. We also made last minute changes that cost us money. Instead of forcing ourselves to stick to the original plan, we adapted and chose what was best for our family in the moment. The result was a better trip than we could have imagined, even though it did not go according to the script. What I learned A vision will always come with challenges. The dream is the easy part. The real test is how you respond when things go sideways. Too often we obsess over the task or the setback instead of keeping our attention on the outcome we want. In business, this is the same as losing a deal and letting it destroy your momentum. If you have enough conversations, enough follow up, and enough people in your pipeline, one lost client will not shake you. The problem is never just the deal that fell through. The problem is not having enough opportunities in play to absorb that hit. We need to plan for the setbacks as much as we plan for the wins. That way, when the delays, lost luggage, or tough negotiations come, we can pivot without losing our composure. How it applies to you Whether it is a trip, a relationship, or your business, the way you handle challenges will decide if you ever reach your vision. If you let every problem become the center of your attention, you will lose sight of what you were chasing to begin with. Your job is to keep the vision bigger than the current problem. Plan for the good. Plan for the bad. And when things go wrong, remind yourself the result you want is still there as long as you keep moving toward it. Conclusion I am proud of how Carla and I handled this trip because it was more than just about having a good time. It was about showing our kids how to respond when life throws a curveball. That is a skill they will use for the rest of their lives. The same is true for business. You can choose to stay stuck on the setback, or you can check your mindset, refocus, and get back to building the life and results you want. Reader questions How do you usually respond when something throws your plans off track? What steps can you take now to make sure one setback does not derail your entire vision? Are you focusing more on the tasks and problems, or on the end result you truly want? Notable quotes “Your job is to keep the vision bigger than the current problem.” “We need to plan for the setbacks as much as we plan for the wins.” “If this is the worst that can happen, I need to check myself and remember what really matters.” Follow A.Z. 4 - Gol 2 Cerro Porteño vs Club 2 de Mayo 2 - Sergio Araujo by ABC Color
In this episode of Do The Work | Mindset Mastery, I take you back to a moment that almost broke me and ended up building me. The truth is, most of what holds us back in business has nothing to do with knowledge or skill. It has everything to do with how we react when we feel exposed. That feeling of not being good enough, smart enough, or ready enough. And in real estate, that happens more often than most of us want to admit. When I first got into REOs during the market crash, I was just trying to survive. I didn't have connections. I didn't know the game. I was just willing to outwork everybody. I'd stay up for hours doing broker price opinions for pennies, hoping it would open a door. And eventually, it did. But at one of my first conferences, I got hit with something that shook me. I was talking to an asset manager when another agent someone local decided to embarrass me in front of him. I didn't know what a “tape” was, and he laughed like it was the dumbest thing in the world. I shrank. I went back to my hotel room that night feeling worthless. And in that moment, I believed what he was trying to make me feel that I didn't belong. What I didn't realize then is that these moments happen to all of us. Whether you're brand new or been in the business ten years, there's always someone trying to assert dominance. Asking “Are you new?” isn't just a question. It's a power move. It's someone trying to put you in your place so they can feel more secure in theirs. But here's what I learned the hard way. That moment of embarrassment became fuel. That agent wanted to establish superiority, but he woke up something in me that would not stop. I became one of the top REO producers in the state. I ended up doing business with that same asset manager he tried to impress. I outgrew that moment. And I outgrew him. Years later, I still see this same dynamic play out with our agents. Newer agents getting shut down by condescending tones. Veteran agents feeling like they should already know everything, so they stop asking questions. That is how growth dies. We don't have to play that game. We don't have to respond on their terms. You don't have to pick up the phone just because someone is calling. You don't have to explain yourself to someone who's trying to corner you. Hold your frame. Stick to the facts. And know that your license is just as powerful as anyone else's no matter how long they've had theirs. When I coach my team, I always bring it back to this: confidence isn't pretending you know everything. It's knowing you'll figure it out. It's showing up anyway. It's staying calm, making your move, and letting your work speak louder than their words ever could. ### Ask Yourself: Have I ever let someone else's comment or tone shrink my confidence or momentum? Am I avoiding situations where I feel exposed instead of using them to grow? What would it look like if I treated every embarrassing moment as a catalyst instead of a setback? ### Notable Quotes: “He didn't realize he woke up a monster.” “You don't have to answer to anyone especially not on their time.” “Your license is just as good as mine, and I've been doing this for 21 years.” Let them talk. Let them posture. And then let your results do the rest. Follow A.Z. Araujo on Social Media: Instagram: @azaraujo Facebook: A.Z. Araujo TikTok: A.Z. In this episode of Do The Work | Mindset Mastery I sat with a powerful question: What are your results really telling you about your commitment? Over the past six months, I've watched this organization hit record breaking numbers. It's been our most successful year yet not because the market gave us a break, but because individuals decided to make real, lasting commitments. Not talk. Not hype. But real follow-through. And I've felt it in every part of my life, not just business. I used to chase results thinking it was all about grinding harder. But what I've learned and what I've seen in the agents around me is that your results are never random. They are the byproduct of one thing: your level of commitment. Not your mood. Not your circumstances. Not what your spouse is doing or not doing. Just your commitment. This hit me even more when I got invited to play pickleball with my daughters. I almost said no. It was late, I had to wake up early the next day, and I had a full plate. But I realized something: the invite itself was the win. That invitation is the result of the time I've poured into that relationship. The way they love and respect me is not accidental. It's the fruit of showing up over and over again. And that's what this episode is all about. The results you have today in your health, your marriage, your business, your confidence they all come down to one thing: how committed you are and what you're doing about it. You can say you want something, but if your actions don't match up, the fruit doesn't lie. I've watched Carla say no over and over again to things that others give in to. And the result? Everyone wants to know how she looks the way she does. But they don't see the daily discipline. They don't see the Tupperware or the missed meals. That's what commitment looks like in action. I've said it before, and I'll say it again by their fruits, you shall know them. You can say you're committed, but your body, your bank account, your relationships, your business they will all tell the truth. This episode is an invitation to reflect. To take inventory. Because there's no success without sacrifice. And the gap between where you are and where you want to be? That's called work. Not just any work. The work. The intentional, consistent, focused kind that most people avoid because it forces them to face themselves. But that's the work I've chosen. That's what's created the results you see today. And the best part? You can do it too. But it starts with a decision. And then it moves with execution. Every day. Whether you feel like it or not. So what are you going to do about it? ### Reader Reflection Questions: Where in your life are you saying you're committed, but your results say otherwise? What decisions have you been avoiding that, if made today, would begin transforming your outcomes? How would your life change if you approached your relationships, business, and health with the same intensity and focus you say you want your results to reflect? ### Notable Quotes: “Show me your results and I'll show you your commitment.” “The win wasn't playing pickleball. The win was getting invited.” “By their fruits, you shall know them.” Let's go. Let's do the work. Follow A.Z. Araujo on Social Media: Instagram: @azaraujo Facebook: A.Z. Araujo TikTok: A.Z. In this episode of Do The Work | Mindset Mastery, I unpacked a concept that has kept me focused, grounded, and moving forward through every high and every low: the Now What theory. It's a simple phrase with powerful implications, and I've been leaning on it more and more as I continue to build our training systems, grow the brokerage, and evolve both as a leader and business owner. ### Obsession With Progress or Obsession With Competition I found myself reflecting on how easy it is to get caught up in what others are doing how another brokerage is scaling, what agents are posting on social media, how many deals someone else just closed. That kind of comparison does nothing but drain your energy. I've been there. Hitting 300 million in sales should have felt like a celebration, but instead, I saw someone else hit a billion and suddenly my win felt like a loss. That's the trap. Every time we compare, we leak power. We trade focus for anxiety. And every moment spent obsessing over what someone else has achieved is a moment taken away from building something meaningful for ourselves. ### The Real Trigger So I stopped asking, Why are they ahead of me? and started asking, Now what am I going to do about it? That one question has reframed my entire perspective. Whether it's a team member leaving, a deal falling through, or watching someone boast about numbers that don't even match public records my work is not to prove them wrong or call them out. My job is to get back to work. Get better. Make improvements. Stay in motion. When you feel triggered by a loss, a betrayal, a comparison, a bad review ask the question that actually moves the needle. Now what? ### The Training System That Changed Everything This mindset is exactly how I built the training system we have today. It didn't come from copying anyone else. It came from frustration. From falling short. From having to record, rerecord, pivot, scrap, build again, over and over. And now? We've got the best sales per agent ratio of any major brokerage because I focused on what I could control. One video at a time. One module at a time. One consultation. One workshop. That's how it all grew. And that's how it's still growing. ### Protecting Your Energy Any time you spend your energy trying to stifle your competition, gossip about an ex staff member, or worry about someone taking your clients, you're avoiding your real work. The truth is, if a client can be taken, maybe you didn't do what was required to keep them. That's a hard truth. But it's the only one that will help you grow. The goal is not to suppress someone else's business. It's to improve yours. Obsession over your competition is energy lost. Obsession over your mission is momentum gained. ### It's Not a Race You don't need to be first. You just need to keep going. Wanting more is not the problem. Obsessing over how someone else got more is. You finally got that deal? Great. Now what are you going to do about it? You had your best month ever? Good. Now what? There is no finish line. So stop acting like you just crossed one. Keep the momentum. Keep the obsession on your progress not theirs. ### Reflect and Apply 1. Where in your life or business are you currently obsessing over someone else's success instead of focusing on your next move? 2. What trigger recently caused you to feel like you weren't doing enough? What is your Now what response to that? 3. What small, immediate action can you take today that brings the focus back to building your business? ### Notable Quotes “Every time we compare, we leak power.” “Obsession over your competition is energy lost. Obsession over your mission is momentum gained.” “The real question is never about them. It's always: Now what am I going to do about it?” Follow A.Z. Análisis, opinión y debate sobre la actualidad del Atleti
In this episode of Do The Work | Mindset Mastery, I dive into something we all face but rarely talk about openly—what happens when the darkness hits. When you've been betrayed, when things fall apart, when you feel like you've lost everything and the pain is just too much. It's that quiet moment where negativity creeps in and starts to control your every thought, paralyzing you and making you forget how powerful you actually are. I shared where I've been—flat on my back, both figuratively and literally, unable to get up because the weight of failure, financial struggle, and shame was too heavy. That energy is real. It strips you of your memory, your growth, your accomplishments. It makes you forget that you've already overcome so much. It turns every little thought into fear, every memory into regret. But here's the shift. That pain, that shame, those dark moments—those can be the fuel. I don't try to erase them anymore. I tap into them. Not to wallow, not to relive the suffering, but to remember that if I got through that, I can get through anything. Every one of those painful moments gave me a skill set, a lesson, a mindset that made me who I am. I use that memory now like a weapon. I remember how it felt to be broke, to feel like a failure, to be belittled. But now I say, let me show you what I'm made of. Let me show you that same energy can push me forward. This episode is a reminder that you're not broken. You're battle tested. The power of negative energy is real, but so is your ability to flip it. You've already proven you can overcome. And if you can remember that—if you can tap into that place without drowning in it—you become unstoppable. ### Reflect on This: What is a painful memory you usually try to forget—but could actually use as fuel for your next move? Are you dwelling in your past pain or using it to push yourself forward? How can you remind yourself daily of how far you've already come? ### Quotes to Remember: “That negative energy is so strong that if it could break me, it can also make me.” “You are undefeated. You're still here.” “If I can get through that, I can definitely get through this. Let me show you what I'm made of.” Follow A.Z. Araujo on Social Media: Instagram: @azaraujo Facebook: A.Z. In this episode of Do The Work | Mindset Mastery, I open up about something that we all carry but rarely stop to dissect: guilt. It's sneaky. It creeps in during the quiet moments after long work weeks, during family decisions, and when we feel stretched too thin. This episode wasn't just about a spontaneous trip to Universal Studios with my daughters. It was about understanding how guilt can distort our memories, cloud our judgment, and keep us from truly being present. But more importantly, it was about choosing what to do with that guilt right now. Over the years, I've told myself stories. That I worked too much. That I wasn't present enough. That I didn't have patience. And while I believed those things, my daughters remembered something different. They remembered the volleyball practices. They remembered Disneyland. They remembered me showing them how to edit on their iPads. And it made me realize how powerful our own stories can be and how wrong we are when we let guilt rewrite our legacy. I almost let my own guilt steal an opportunity to create a powerful memory with my daughters. I almost passed on a trip that turned into one of the best experiences we've had together. The reality is, we work hard to earn that flexibility, but if we don't take action in the present, guilt will always convince us we don't deserve it. This lesson isn't just for home it applies to business too. Guilt from not following up. Guilt from not posting. Guilt from not showing up strong for your clients. We sit in that space and call it accountability, but accountability without action is just self-punishment. You say you take responsibility but then what? What are you doing right now to change it? It's time to stop looking back at where we fell short and start doing something right here, right now. One call. One text. One post. One moment of presence. That's where expansion begins. And when you take that action now, it doesn't just shape your future. It transforms your past and your present too. Expansion grows every way, not just forward. The guilt doesn't have to weigh you down if you're willing to move. Ask Yourself What guilt have you been holding onto that's slowing down your growth or happiness? What is one action you can take today to move forward in your business or relationships? How might your story change if you stopped focusing on what you didn't do and started acting on what you can do now? Notable Quotes “We can all feel belittled by what we have. Or we can just think about what we can do right now to get a little closer to that bigger vision.” “Time doesn't necessarily mean quality. You don't have to sabotage one or the other. You can do both.” “Accountability without action is just self-punishment.” Follow A.Z. Araujo on Social Media: Instagram: @azaraujo Facebook: A.Z. Araujo TikTok: A.Z. In this episode of the podcast, I talk about something that's always been at the core of our success—preparation. And not just the idea of it, but what it really looks like when you execute with focus and intention. Whether you're brand new to the business or already have years under your belt, preparation will always be the key difference between the ones who succeed quickly and those who stall out. I've seen both. This week I reflect on the stories of agents who are dominating just days into the industry, and others who finally broke through after a rough season—both because they committed to preparing. The Difference Between Ready and Not Ready This week reminded me how fast things can move when the vision is clear and the effort is real. I shared the story of an agent who was just four days in and already locked in a listing appointment, followed up, secured the deal, and had everything signed. Why? Because she followed the plan. She watched the trainings. She asked questions. She relied on her life experience and put in the work. She didn't wait for me or Carla or a transaction coordinator to hold her hand. She prepared ahead of time and executed when the opportunity came. That's what real leadership looks like. Then there's the flip side. The agents who hesitate. Who sit on their hands waiting to be walked through every step. And when that happens, there's no growth. There's no confidence. There's only delay. Preparation means owning your business. Knowing where the resources are. Watching the trainings. Practicing the calls. Having the hard conversations with clients before they blow up the deal. It's Not About Experience, It's About Preparation I brought up something I've been saying a lot lately—lack of experience does not mean lack of preparation. We have agents passing their licensing exams in two weeks, others taking two years. What's the difference? Not intelligence. Not talent. It's how focused and committed they were. The effort is the same, it's just spread out for some over years instead of weeks. And this mirrors how agents get into production. Some take six months to land their first deal. Others, just six days. The key is preparation—knowing what you're doing, where to go, and who to call when it gets real. Leverage Your Past, Own Your Process We also talked about how our experiences prepare us long before we realize it. I shared how my daughter Abigail stepped up to work a booth at a real estate career expo. No hesitation. No excuses. And while she might not have had the experience, she's been in this game since she was three years old. Watching, listening, learning. Just like many of you, you've already done hard things. You've already solved big problems. That makes you ready now. It's just about applying that same mindset to this business. Stop Waiting, Start Acting This episode wasn't just for new agents either. I had a conversation with a veteran who had hit a wall, forgetting what he was made of. After a few adjustments, he's now sitting on seven deals in escrow. The difference was not more knowledge. It was remembering who he is. Preparation is not just a checklist. It's an energy. A commitment to being in control of your process and not blaming the market or the news or your circumstances. You have to move with vision. Take action with intention. Stop stalling and start preparing to execute. Reader Reflection Questions Where in your business are you waiting for someone to walk you through the steps instead of preparing ahead? How are your current actions aligned with the vision you say you want? What past experiences can you tap into right now to give you confidence to move forward? Notable Quotes “Lack of experience does not mean lack of preparation.” “It's not your buyer's fault they can't decide—it's your fault for not preparing them.” “She wasn't afraid of losing the listing. She was more committed to winning it.” Follow A.Z. Araujo on Social Media: Instagram: @azaraujo Facebook: A.Z. Araujo TikTok: A.Z.
In this episode of Do The Work | Mindset Mastery… I reflect on a powerful moment that unfolded on Camelback Mountain—me, surrounded by 25 people who are all fighting for something greater. That climb wasn't just a hike. It was a metaphor for what this life is really about: choosing the hard things, getting uncomfortable, and proving to yourself that you can handle more. Camelback is no joke. You feel it in your legs, your lungs, your thoughts. But it teaches you—if you're willing to pay attention. Just like this business. Just like this life. I've been doing this for 21 years. That's 21 years of doubt, resistance, setbacks, and the heavy weight of comparison. There were days when I questioned if anything would ever work. Times I looked at others and felt like I was falling behind. And even today, when I post success or share a win, I know some people get triggered. One guy even commented, “Y'all too much new money. Quit showboating.” And I get it. But here's what he—and maybe others—don't understand: this is new money. Not inherited. Not luck. I wasn't handed tools or a roadmap. I had to build all of it from scratch. And what you see now? That's the result of sacrifice, consistency, and refusing to play the victim. I used to live in survival mode—where a $50 cable bill felt like the end of the world. And I've watched people give up on big dreams over something like a $75 office fee. That's not a money problem. That's a mindset problem. And I had to crush those patterns to become who I am today. A journal entry from 2018 reminded me just how far I've come. I was overwhelmed. Depressed. Losing agents. Losing momentum. I wrote, “You want good? It's not easy. You want more? It's not easy. You want success? It's not easy.” But I kept showing up. I changed my thoughts, and with that, I changed my reality. So if you're in a moment where you feel behind, not good enough, not smart enough—hear me: you're not stuck. You're not broken. You just have to take that next step, even if it's small. Even if it's scary. And if your growth is triggering people around you? That's okay. Your purpose is louder than their opinions. Let them talk. You keep moving.

Though she carries one of the most prominent last names in modern Napa Valley history, Jamie Araujo didn't grow up a wine brat or even a Napa kid at all. By the time the Araujos purchased the iconic Eisele Vineyard and launched their wine brand, Jamie was already in college on the East Coast. And she kept going east—eventually all the way to London's West End, where she built a career as a professional actor. We sat down with Jamie to talk about her fascinating journey: from theater and television to working with some of the biggest names in wine, and ultimately returning to the family business at Araujo Estate Wines. Along the way, we explored the next chapter for the Araujo family—Accendo Cellars—as well as Jamie's own project, Trois Noix. Most importantly, we discussed how Jamie is working to help shape Napa Valley's future for the better in meaningful ways. So pour yourself a glass of your favorite wine and settle in—you're going to love this story. Hello Rank Squad! After one of the most intriguing, exhausting, exhilarating semi-finals that the competition has ever seen, Inter will be in the final after finally dispatching Barcelona with a knockout blow, just moments after they had dragged themselves off the canvas themselves. 4-3 on the night, 7-6 on aggregate, this was one of the best games of football we have seen in many a long year, two sides who just traded punches for 210 minutes until a victory bell was finally rung, in favour of the home side. We discuss the momentum swings of a game that saw Inter take a 2-0 lead, before going down 3-2 with just moments to go, the late equaliser from the most unlikely of sources - Francesco Acerbi - before more drama in added time saw Davide Frattesi once more come up with the goods to send Simone Inzaghi's weathered old warriors to Munich - where they will face one of PSG or Arsenal. There's also some talk about what the future outlook is for a Barcelona side who have come a long way this year, and who perhaps just lacked a tad of experience when it mattered most, as well as why Inter feel like this could be there year to claim a long-awaited European crown - it's been 15 years since that famous night in Madrid. All that, and loads more, including Dean's experience watching Beckham & Friends on Paramount, on the show. It's Ranks! In this episode of Do The Work | Mindset Mastery… I found myself reflecting on the power of standards—not just the ones we set for ourselves, but the ones we pass down. It really hit me after dropping off my youngest daughter at her friend's grandparents' house and realizing the depth of generational success at play. I always thought I understood what it meant to build something for the next generation, but seeing that legacy up close, I saw the habits, the discipline, the mindset that get passed on, and how that compounds over time. Setting the Standard—It Starts Now Growing up, I didn't know much about the right or wrong habits. I didn't understand that you could just decide to raise your standard of living, or even that the standard you set today shapes the reality for your kids tomorrow. When I look around now, I see that the life we're living is a model for what those around us will accept—from how we handle business and our bodies, to how we treat our spouses. What really stuck out to me was realizing that so many successful people I know are first generation. Their parents worked hard and built a foundation—maybe as blue-collar workers or in mid-level careers. But their kids took it to another level. Still, what I saw this weekend was different. This wasn't just first generation; it was generational. Grandparents, parents, and kids—each building on what came before, each reinforcing the right habits and standards. It's Not All Peaks and Valleys For a long time, I lived in peaks and valleys. Great years, followed by tough ones. It was all patterns: nine months up, nine months down, repeat. I was reacting, not leading. My habits weren't in alignment with long-term success. Only when I started surrounding myself with the right people and building consistent habits did things change. Seeing those grandparents, I imagined the decades of discipline, the setbacks, the bounce backs. It's not just about making money or looking successful—it's about sustaining it, and making sure it lasts through generations. Sure, you'll hear about trust fund kids who mess it all up, but that's the exception. Most families with strong habits see their kids magnify the good—and sometimes the bad. What We Pass On—Good or Bad Here's the real truth: everything we do gets magnified by the next generation. If you have good habits, your kids will take them further. If you have dysfunctions, they'll get magnified too. If you eat like crap, your kids probably will too—only sooner and with bigger consequences. If you're disciplined and consistent, they'll take that even further. The same goes for your mindset, your finances, your relationships. A conversation with my daughter's friend made it clear—when you grow up in a household with high standards, those expectations become normal. Respect, discipline, and good habits aren't accidental. They're built and maintained, day after day. Your Responsibility Right Now Maybe you didn't get the best example growing up. Maybe you're first generation, just trying to figure this out. That doesn't mean you can't set a new standard. It just means you have to work harder to identify your own dysfunctions and put in the reps to build something better. Every choice—what you eat, who you listen to, how you bounce back from setbacks—is shaping your kids and grandkids, whether you realize it or not. So if you're tired of peaks and valleys, look at your habits. Look at your discipline. Because the only way to build something that lasts is to do the work, consistently, over time. You set the standard, for yourself and everyone who comes after you. Five Questions to Reflect On What standard are you setting in your life right now—and what might that mean for your family in the future? How have your own habits been shaped by those you observed growing up? Can you identify any peaks and valleys in your own success? What patterns or habits might be causing them? In what areas of your life are you still operating out of old dysfunctions? How can you start changing that today? If your kids or those close to you magnified your current habits, would you be proud of the outcome? Notable Quotes “Just imagine the amount of habits and discipline, the mindset reinforcement, the bounce back that they had to go through to not only sustain it long term, but to pass it on to their offspring.” “Whatever life we're living right now, we're setting a standard not only for ourselves, but for our kids, for those around us, of what they will accept from us.” “You can be reckless and still make a lot of money, but it doesn't mean you're going to sustain it long term. You'll rise and you'll crash. You'll have the peaks and the valleys.” “Everything we do gets magnified by the next generation. If you have good habits, your kids will take them further. If you have dysfunctions, they'll get magnified too.” “The only way to build something that lasts is to do the work, consistently, over time. You set the standard, for yourself and everyone who comes after you.” If this episode got you thinking, I encourage you to ask yourself those questions and take a close look at the standards you're building today. That's what will shape tomorrow—for you, and for everyone who follows. Follow A.Z. Araujo on Social Media: Instagram: @azaraujo Facebook: A.Z. Araujo TikTok: A.Z. Energy & Focus In this episode of Do The Work | Mindset Mastery… I had to make a decision—and not just any decision, but one that required me to draw a hard line on what I tolerate and where I choose to invest my energy. This wasn't about business plans or growth strategies. It was about something as simple—and as massive—as a hotel room. Now, that might sound petty at first glance, but stay with me. See, over the last few weeks, I've been everywhere—Vegas, Kansas City, Atlanta—chasing goals, supporting my daughter at nationals (she placed second in the nation, by the way), and showing up for the people I lead. But through all this travel, I kept getting hit with the same lesson: energy and focus are your most valuable assets, and you better be damn protective of them. So here I am, walking into a W Hotel in Atlanta, expecting the same elevated experience I had in other cities. Instead, I'm hit with dirty elevators, stained carpets, dingy lighting, mold in the shower—everything that screamed low standards. And while the room was draining me, what hit harder was realizing how many of us allow these energy leaks to continue in our lives every single day. That beat-up car, that slow computer, that "just okay" team member, that friendship you've outgrown—they're all robbing you. Quietly. Consistently. Stealing your ability to create and expand. Just like that hotel room did to me. And for what? Comfort? Familiarity? Let me be real with you. I could've stayed. I could've told myself, “You made the bed, now lie in it.” But like Jim Rohn said, “You're not a tree. Change it.” So I did. Took the hit, booked another hotel, and within hours, I felt different. More powerful. More clear. More me. And this wasn't just about a hotel. It was a metaphor. A wake-up call. Because the same thing goes for people. There are folks in your life—maybe even good people—that you've outgrown. And by holding on, you're blocking the great people who are ready to enter your life. It's not about being cold or ungrateful. It's about being intentional with your energy. Energy that belongs to your business. Your health. Your family. Your purpose. I'm not here to convince anyone. I don't chase. I don't beg. But I will tell you this—when you start choosing yourself and what serves your purpose, your entire world shifts. Let the distractions go. Let the resentment go. Let the people go who aren't moving with you. Because if you really want to do the work, it starts there—with energy and focus. 5 Reflective Questions What are you tolerating right now that's quietly draining your energy and focus? Is there a relationship in your life that you've outgrown but are holding onto out of comfort or guilt? What physical items (your car, workspace, home) are stealing from your peace and confidence? How do you respond when people bring problems without taking responsibility for their part in the solution? What bold move can you make today to realign yourself with your vision? Notable Quotes “If you don't like how things are, change it. You're not a tree.” “This is the power you have when you're around the right people, in the right environments, focusing on the right things.” “Energy and focus are your most valuable assets—you better protect them like your life depends on it, because it does.” “Good people had to leave so I could finally see the great people that were already in my life.” “Just because you made a decision doesn't mean you have to lie in it forever.” Follow A.Z. Your Future Self In this episode of Do The Work | Mindset Mastery… I took a minute to slow things down and reflect—not just on where I'm going, but on who I've become along the way. Life moves fast. Between running the business and being in Vegas last week for my daughter's volleyball tournament, I blinked and realized I'd missed a Mindset Mastery. But that's how it is when you're in motion. And when you're moving fast, the one thing that'll keep you grounded is clarity—clarity about what you want and who you need to be to get there. Over the years, I've learned that real growth doesn't come from new skill sets—it comes from shortening the time I spend in self-pity. I used to blame others every time something didn't go my way. When deals fell apart, when people left the organization, when things just didn't pan out—I'd focus all my energy outward. But I realized that the longer I stayed in that space, the longer I delayed my own progress. The real shift happened when I started asking, What could I have done differently? That question alone has changed my life. I talked about how disappointments used to knock me off course. But I've trained myself not to sit in that pain too long. I feel it. I acknowledge it. But then I go to work. Because staying in that negative headspace only drains your energy and blinds you from the blessings that often come from major shifts. At the core of this episode was a reminder that changed everything for me: Know yourself. Most people think success comes from doing more. But what I've found is that it comes from understanding what you truly want—and being brutally honest about what you're willing to sacrifice to get there. You can't say you want to be a $20 million producer and then act like someone who's okay with average. You can't want big success and still insist on weekends off, early bedtimes, or reacting emotionally to every hiccup in a deal. It doesn't work that way. I called out the patterns I've seen in our industry—people getting thrown off by appraisals, lowball offers, or delayed closings. And the truth is, those aren't real problems. They're just part of the business. But if those things derail you, you're not in alignment with the person you say you want to be. That's the key: Alignment. If you're not acting like the person you want to be right now—if your actions don't match your desires—you're not going to get there. That's the gap. And closing that gap starts with studying yourself. Not just what you do, but how you think, how you respond, and what you focus on when things get hard. I'm proud of what we've built at A.Z. & Associates. But I don't take it for granted. I'm still in the grind. Still growing. Still analyzing my thoughts and adjusting my actions. And I want the same for every person who listens to this podcast. Because once you stop blaming and start owning everything—everything changes. So here's what I want to leave you with: Study yourself. Know yourself. And ask the real question: Am I truly in alignment with what I want? Because if you are, the results will follow. If you're not, it's time to stop pointing fingers and start doing the work. Reader Reflection Questions: What is one area of your life where you're blaming others instead of taking full responsibility? Are your current daily habits aligned with the results you say you want? When challenges arise, do you dwell in the negativity or shift quickly into solution mode? Who has what you want—and what are they doing differently than you? What sacrifices are you truly willing to make to become the version of yourself you've envisioned? Notable Quotes: “When I was wallowing, I wasn't growing.” “It's not the skill set that got me here—it's how fast I get out of self-pity.” “Know yourself. That's the first step to becoming who you're meant to be.” “You can't want to be a $20 million producer and act like someone who doesn't want to work weekends.” “Am I acting like the person I want to be—right now?” Follow A.Z. Prosperity Begins With The Mind In this episode of Do The Work | Mindset Mastery… I dive into a topic that has come up in countless conversations lately: prosperity begins with the mind. It's not just about skill sets; it's about the mental and emotional strength required to step into the life we truly want. The Truth About Success Everyone can envision a better life, but few actually step into it. The moment we realize that achieving more requires us to become more, we're faced with the truth: it's going to take more time, more energy, more effort, and a whole lot of failures. That's what keeps people from moving forward. Instead of pushing through, many settle. They adjust their lives to their current outcomes and set limitations—like wanting success but refusing to work weekends, answer calls after 8 p.m., or step out of their comfort zones. But building something great isn't about fitting success into the box of what's convenient. It's about breaking past those self-imposed restrictions and going all in. The Sacrifices Required I've had this conversation so many times—people setting parameters around their growth, saying, “I don't answer calls after this time,” or “I don't work weekends.” And then they wonder why their business isn't where they want it to be. The reality is, in the beginning, there are no boundaries. There are no shortcuts. If you want to reach a level where you have control over your time, you have to put in the work now to build the infrastructure that allows for that later. I didn't build AZ & Associates by setting limitations. There were no vacations, no weekends off. It was an all-in effort. I'm not saying that's how you have to live forever, but there's a season where you have to be willing to do what most won't in order to create what most don't have. Are You Avoiding Growth? This past weekend at my daughter's volleyball tournament, Carla and I had a conversation about where we want to be. We're in our mid-40s and still pushing to become better, still refining our skills, still learning every single day. Meanwhile, I see so many people who have completely stopped growing. Parents live vicariously through their kids, but their own ambition has died. They settle, and it shows in their energy, in their relationships, in their bodies. They tell their kids, “You can be anything,” but have they led by example? Are their kids proud of them? The people who achieve great things aren't necessarily smarter or luckier—they're just willing to do more. They ask themselves, What am I willing to sacrifice? What skills do I need to develop? Instead of avoiding challenges, they put themselves in uncomfortable situations that force them to grow. Are You Ready to Take the Next Step? The biggest breakthroughs happen when you stop making excuses and start taking action. The real players in this industry aren't overthinking; they're out there executing. They're putting out 20 pieces of content while others are still debating what video to make. It's not about knowing exactly how everything will unfold. It's about knowing the next step—and taking it. That's the mindset shift that separates those who keep getting the same results year after year from those who continue to elevate. Reader Engagement Questions: What self-imposed limitations have you set that might be holding you back? Are you willing to make short-term sacrifices for long-term success? What skill set do you need to develop to reach the next level? How do you handle being around people who have achieved more than you? What's one action you can take today to move closer to your goals? Notable Quotes: “Prosperity begins with the mind. The results you see today are a reflection of the standards you've set for yourself.” “You can't want a $20M business and also say, ‘But I don't work weekends.' Those two things don't align.” “You don't need to know every step to the top of the mountain—you just need to take the next one.” “The people winning aren't necessarily smarter. They're just willing to do what you're not.” “Your kids will always be proud of you, but are they inspired by you?” It all comes down to this: If you want more, you have to become more. The choice is yours. Follow A.Z. Araujo on Social Media: Instagram: @azaraujo Facebook: A.Z. Araujo TikTok: A.Z.
