In this episode of the True Crime & Philosophy series of The Philosophemes Podcast, we examine the tragic case of Courtney Clenney through the lens of Aristotle's virtue ethics. What does it mean to have a tyrannical soul? And how might ancient philosophy help us understand the development of character in the context of modern violence? Courtney “Tailor” Clenney, an Instagram and OnlyFans model with over two million followers, has been charged with second-degree murder for stabbing her boyfriend, Christian “Toby” Obumseli, to death in their luxury apartment in Miami's Edgewater neighborhood on April 3, 2022. Clenney claims she acted in self-defense during yet another intense argument in what she describes as a “violent and toxic” relationship. While avoiding any claims of guilt or innocence, this episode considers the moral and psychological dimensions of Clenney's behavior—both alleged and documented. Drawing on Aristotle's account of virtue, vice, and character formation, we explore how a soul can become disordered, and what that means for ethical responsibility. We also reflect on Clenney's publicly reported diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder, considering how impulsivity and emotional volatility complicate questions of agency and moral evaluation. This is not just a story about crime—it's a study of character. And, it's a glimpse into the dangerous ideas brought into focus by forensic philosophy. . The Philosophemes Podcast. Deep roots. Dangerous ideas. The Canon, remixed. .

Hey Identifier, #CourtneyTaylorClenney #ChristianTobyObumseli #Blackwomen Family Of Christian Toby Obumseli Address His Past Tweets & Murder: ‘Courtney Taylor Clenney Is Using Her White Privilege' Following the fatal stabbing of Christian Toby Obumseli, several tweets from his teenage years have resurfaced — showing him targeting Black women. Now, his brother, Jeffrey Obumseli is addressing them, along with calling out his brother's girlfriend, and murder suspect, Courtney Taylor Clenney for using her “white privilege” to evade consequences. Jeffrey writes, “As a family, we strongly disagree with the ignorant and repulsive tweets from my then-high school-aged brother that have recently surfaced. However, the tweets do not diminish our demand for a thorough investigation into Toby's murder or negate the necessity for justice. It's been a week since my brother was brutally and senselessly killed. Courtney Taylor Clenney's callous actions have not been met with an ounce of remorse. We've seen videos of Courtney kissing her dogs while covered in what we believe to be my brother's blood and casually getting drinks at a hotel bar days later while my brother lays in the morgue.” Leave us a Voice Mail or Support https://anchor.fm/the-identity-booth/message https://anchor.fm/the-identity-booth/support Sub to the channel here https://www.twitch.tv/theidentitybooth Donate https://streamlabs.com/projecteto/tip The Goal: Try to Identify with you as you try to Identify with me.
