In the early hours of 17 May 2023, Senior Constable Kristian White shot 95-year-old Clare Nowland with his Taser in a Cooma nursing home. Last week, after a high-profile trial in which he pleaded not guilty, a jury found White guilty of the manslaughter of the great-grandmother. He now awaits sentencing. The great-grandmother tasered by New South Wales police at her nursing home last week has died. 95-year-old Clare Nowland, who had dementia, was hospitalised in a critical condition after falling and fracturing her skull during the confrontation with officers. She died "peacefully" in hospital last night. Police previously said they had been called to the facility and found Mrs Nowland holding a serrated steak knife and using a walking frame before the taser was deployed.
