Jason Agan was a popular teacher at Angelo Rodriguez High School in Fairfield. But for years, students whispered about his behavior. He touched some of them in public in ways that made them uncomfortable, they said, including hugging students and massaging their shoulders.  In late 2019, after multiple written complaints and an administrative hearing, the school district fired Agan. But he never lost his teaching license, and went on to teach at two more schools in California. Holly McDede, who reported this story for KQED and ProPublica, explains how a pattern of delays and a lack of transparency has allowed educators to continue teaching after school districts reported them to the state. Even if you, or anyone you know, has never been unhoused: How hard is it to understand the difference between charging poor people monetary fines they obviously can't pay, and then throwing them in jail when they don't—and addressing homelessness with, oh I don't know, housing? That would be a commonsense conversation, about what resources we have and how we deploy them; but instead we see power actors, with the support of the White House and the Supreme Court, telling us that “ending homelessness” means tearing up people's tents, throwing away their belongings; a new law in Kentucky says officials can use “stand your ground” laws to shoot homeless people that don't “cooperate” with their eviction from private or public land. So: Is this really about addressing homelessness? Because we know how to do that. And if it's not: What is it about? And can we have an honest conversation about that? Street Preachers at the Brandon Amphitheater – Clay Edwards Show Ep 1191Clay Edwards goes off on the group of street preachers he ran into outside the Brandon Amphitheater Friday night as fans poured in for the Warren Zieders concert. He calls them the Mississippi equivalent of the Westboro Baptist Church — self-infatuated grifters waving signs and shouting insults at concertgoers, specifically calling women “skanks,” “whores,” and “Jezebels.”Clay makes a clear distinction: while he supported their protest against Target for selling explicit LGBTQ toys to kids, this is completely different. Harassing families and young women at a family-friendly country music show isn't evangelism — it's provocation. He questions why they pick soft targets like “teeny bop country” crowds instead of taking their message to actual rough spots like nightclubs or strip clubs, and he's disappointed more men haven't stepped up to confront them for disrespecting women. Raw, unfiltered, and straight to the point — classic Clay calling out what he sees as hypocritical attention-seeking disguised as faith.

Though not the first to envision mechanical sewing, Howe's design was the first to successfully automate stitching in a way that was both efficient and commercially viable. His machine used a needle with the eye at the point and a shuttle beneath the cloth to form a lockstitch—features that would become industry standards. Despite the innovation, Howe initially struggled to find financial backers and spent time in England attempting to sell his invention, with little success.When he returned to the United States, Howe discovered that other manufacturers had begun producing similar machines.
