If wisdom is so clearly praised in Scripture, why does the Church so often avoid it? In this episode, we explore the uncomfortable reality that biblical wisdom comes at a cost many Christians are unwilling to pay. From our addiction to speed, certainty, and being “right,” to our fear of humility, restraint, and discernment, we examine how the Church has often traded wisdom for influence. This isn't a call to disengage from culture or politics, but to engage with fear of the Lord, humility, and long-term faithfulness, even when wisdom costs us approval, platforms, or control. 1/16/26 - What does it really mean to defend life, and where, exactly, is the line being drawn? Jim Havens and Fr. Stephen Imbarrato offer a direct and unfiltered examination of the question many avoid asking: Why not personhood now? Moving beyond slogans and incremental talking points, they analyze specific clips and public statements from political leaders such as Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis alongside religious voices, including Pope Leo XIV, to expose how ambiguity, compromise, and strategic silence continue to shape the public conversation on abortion. Grounded in Catholic moral theology, natural law, and the Church's consistent teaching on life from conception, the discussion presses into whether delayed personhood is a prudential strategy or a moral failure. With concrete examples, hard distinctions, and pastoral urgency, we challenge Catholics to examine whether defending the unborn “eventually” is compatible with proclaiming their full dignity now.

Send us a textWhat if the conversations we avoid as parents are the ones our kids need most?In this episode of Girls Gone Gritty, Farley and Jennifer tackle one of the most uncomfortable but important topics in parenting: sex, virginity, and how to talk to your kids about it without shame, fear, or denial. What starts as a candid question quickly becomes a raw, honest discussion about generational shifts, real-life expectations, and why pretending teens are not curious or sexually developing does more harm than good. The hosts explore what age sex realistically enters the picture, how pressure, alcohol, and silence can shape first experiences, and why open communication matters more than strict rules. They reflect on their own experiences, the difference between boys and girls, modern dating culture, and the emotional weight teens carry when they feel unprepared or left out. This episode also zooms out to broader themes of responsibility, health, and agency, touching on burnout, body awareness, food transparency, and raising kids who feel confident asking hard questions. The core message is simple but powerful: you cannot protect your children by avoiding reality, but you can guide them by staying present, honest, and human.Episode Highlights:(1:50) Parenting responsibility and letting kids grow up(3:27) Burnout, body awareness, and listening to signals(5:09) Food, health, and questioning the system(6:25) When and how to talk to kids about sex(7:24) Realistic ages, peer pressure, and curiosity(9:07) Porn, respect, and modern dating confusion(12:50) What “being okay with it” really means as a parent(14:27) Birth control, STDs, and real-world preparation(16:14) Shame, stigma, and changing conversations(18:03) Virginity myths and emotional harm(20:01) Why silence creates insecurity(23:24) Every child is different, so conversations must be too(27:28) Self-respect, pressure, and staying true to yourself(28:26) Health resets, nutrition, and taking control(31:28) Song of the week and closing reflections(32:03) OutroSupport the showFollow us: Web: https://girlsgonegritty.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/girlsgonegritty/ More ways to find us: https://linktr.ee/girlsgonegritty
Brent Axe chats live following Syracuse basketball's 82-72 win over Georgia Tech. It was a tale of two halves for Syracuse. The Orange offense was humming in the first half. SU scored a season-high 44 points before halftime. The ball and the team were moving and Donnie Freeman showed his importance to the Orange on the way to a game-high 27 points. SU was up by 20 points at one point of the game, but saw that lead melt down in the 2nd half to just five with 11 2nd-half turnovers and consistent defensive miscues. Wins are hard to get on the road in the ACC but SU made it just a little too hard on themselves in this one. Axe discussed that, Naithan George's solid effort in a return to Atlanta and the importance of avoiding stepping in a pothole for the next four games before the schedule ramps up later in the month for SU. Brave Leadership: How Courage, Not Comfort, Drives Results with Jill Schulman Fear shows up quietly in leadership. It delays decisions. Avoids hard conversations. Keeps talented people playing it safe. In this episode of Deep Leadership, I'm joined by Jill Schulman, Marine Corps veteran, leadership consultant, and author of The Bravery Effect, to break down why courage—not comfort—is what actually drives results. Jill shares how fear silently controls behavior at work, why avoiding discomfort makes leaders weaker (not happier), and how bravery can be trained like a muscle. Drawing from military leadership, positive psychology, and decades of executive work, she explains why doing hard things is essential for growth, confidence, and performance. We talk about: Why fear is one of the biggest hidden problems in leadership The science behind bravery and why it's a skill anyone can build How avoiding discomfort fuels anxiety and poor decision-making Why action—not confidence—creates courage How leaders can build braver teams and cultures Why “doing hard things” leads to better results and greater fulfillment If you're a leader who wants stronger performance, better decisions, and a team that doesn't crumble under pressure, this conversation will challenge how you think about fear, comfort, and courage.

Send us a textAccountability costs more than a press conference, and that's exactly why our politics keeps choosing words over work. We open with the Caribbean boat strikes and map the legal gray zone where overlapping agencies, temporary guidance, and classified memos substitute for clear law. When Congress refuses to define roles and rules of engagement, the executive fills the vacuum, and the public gets euphemisms instead of answers. Action would assign ownership; chatter only spreads the blame. From there, we unpack Amnesty International's harrowing report on detention sites branded with cutesy nicknames that dull the edge of cruelty. Rationed water, perpetual lighting, invasive cameras, solitary confinement, and a two-foot outdoor “box” paint a picture of punishment—not processing. This is how authoritarian systems grow: through emergency measures, no-bid contracts, and a culture that treats rights as perimeter-sensitive. If we normalize this for the powerless, it will not stay at the margins. We then draw a line to the business of conspiracy. Doubt has become identity, fear a product, and insinuation a growth hack. Whether it's panic at scale, tragedy sold as authenticity, or plausible deniability framed as curiosity, the market for suspicion thrives when institutions speak morally but act selectively. People notice when leaders find money for munitions but not insulin, when civilian deaths are “regrettable” abroad and oversight is optional at home. Consistency is the currency of credibility—and we're running a deficit. To anchor the stakes, we revisit James Baldwin's clash with Paul Weiss, where history, power, and personal agency collide. Institutions are evidence, Baldwin reminds us; ideals mean little without structures that honor them. Our case is simple: define maritime authorities in law, end euphemisms that hide state violence, restore constitutional standards in detention, and hold media voices to the risks of being wrong. Coherence, transparency, and courage won't fix everything, but they will close the gap that cynicism floods. If this resonates, subscribe, share the show with a friend, and leave a review with the one reform you think would build the most trust. Last week, we sat with Brian's heavy narrative that Bethany is "out to get him." This week, we turn the lens around to understand the experience of the avoidant partner. We explore a conflict about picking up their sick daughter from daycare, where Bethany's genuine attempt to help is misread as control, leaving her feeling like the "bad guy" yet again. We finally unveil the "why" behind Bethany's lack of emotion. We learn that her "stone face" isn't indifference; it is a desperate shield against the pain of feeling like a failure. The breakthrough happens when she admits, "I'm not trying to avoid you... I'm just trying to shut out the pain," causing Brian to soften and feel hope for the first time in weeks. This week's prompt: Think about your own version of the "stone face." When you shut down, go numb, or get super logical—what specific feeling are you trying to avoid? Are you protecting yourself from feeling like a failure or from feeling rejected? Target Market Insights: Multifamily Real Estate Marketing Tips
Nic Espanet is the founder of Flex Equity Group and host of the Flex Forward Podcast. After two decades as a physical therapist, Nic transitioned into real estate—starting with passive investments before becoming a lead general partner. He's now led eight out of ten multifamily deals across Texas, with a focus on operational systems, investor communication, and market strategy. Through his podcast and syndication work, he helps others build freedom through clarity, consistency, and resilience. Make sure to download our free guide, 7 Questions Every Passive Investor Should Ask, here. Key Takeaways Start as a passive investor to learn best practices and build trust. Your first GP deal might require sacrificing equity to gain credibility. Raising capital today is about thoughtful follow-up, not just email blasts. Real estate's control and tangibility make it more appealing than stocks. Take fast action with underperforming property managers—delay can cost you. Topics From Healthcare to Real Estate Nic spent 20+ years in physical therapy before pivoting to real estate. Originally planned to invest in single-family homes before discovering multifamily. His first steps were as a passive LP, which taught him how great GPs operate. The GP Transition Joined a Dallas real estate network to meet experienced sponsors.
