For members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, education is a religious responsibility; as such, the Church Educational System (CES) has been built to pursue that responsibility and develop disciples of Jesus Christ. CES accomplishes this at larger institutions like Brigham Young University, electronically accessible programs like BYU–Pathway Worldwide, and gospel-centered curriculum found at seminary and institute classes wherever the Church is established, allowing students to thrive in and through their educational pursuits. In 2003, media companies and newspapers were in free fall, when American newspapers earned only a tiny percentage of revenue from digital. The Deseret News and Deseret Digital Media were the envy of others, with more than 50% of the organisation's combined net income coming from digital sources. All this was a little more than three years after a former Harvard Business School professor took over the company. How did he do it? He developed his strategy thanks to his work with Clayton Christensen and employed the research to recalibrate how Deseret is organised and does business. Today, he has recalibrated his life and reallocated his resources to causes other than the business world. More about that shortly. First and foremost, he is with us to pay tribute to his friend, share how his theories helped him perform a spectacular turnaround in the media industry and share insights from his book, “Dual Transformation, How to Reposition Today's Business While Creating the Future.” It is a rare treat and absolute honour to spend time with the author of “Dual Transformation” with Scott D Anthony and Mark Johnson and “From Resource Allocation to Strategy” with our previous guest Joe Bower. Clark Gilbert, welcome to the show.
Elder Gilbert teaches that regardless of our circumstances, the Lord can help us reach our ultimate potential.
In this episode I share how sometimes our slope will be going upward toward the Lord and sometimes our slope can go downward in sin or bad decisions. “While the world focuses on our intercept, God focuses on our slope. In the Lord's calculus, He will do everything He can to help us turn our slopes toward heaven.” Becoming More in Christ: The Parable of the Slope I liked how Clark G. Gilbert shared that if our focus is on the Savior, we will be on an upward slope course. We will at times have our slope go down but KEEP working to go back up. It takes effort. With our hearts and minds focused on the Savior we can make it there.
Elder Clark G. Gilbert explains how we can draw strength from our Savior and find Christ's peace in perilous times. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

When we stay focused on what we have done or haven't done in our past, it will keep us stuck, preventing us from moving forward and reaching our potential, even our Divine potential. We may have thoughts like, "this is how I have always been, I can't change", "I don't know how to do something new". When we choose to keep these thoughts, we end up going around and around in circles. We may feel like we are moving, but we really aren't. In order to reach our full potential, our Divine potential, we recognize that these past focused thoughts are just thoughts. Moving toward our Divine potential is possible, even if making changes in our lives seems a bit scary. (Ideas from the article by Clark G.
