Elder Christofferson's talk “The Sealing Power” is a great lesson in what “sealing” really means in the context of priesthood ordinances. Here is a question to consider as you study: How does the knowledge that the sealing power also applies to other ordinances you've participated in - or will participate in - change the way you think about those ordinances? While I was up late in the night, I was listening to a presentation about unity in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The presenter gave the analogy of a Thanksgiving dinner as the body of church. I began to think about this analogy and realize how applicable it was. Join me today as I share this analogy. “In our extremely contentious world, how can unity be achieved, especially in the Church, where we are to have “one Lord, one faith, one baptism”? Paul gives us the key: “For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ.” We are too diverse and at times too discordant to be able to come together as one on any other basis or under any other name. Only in Jesus Christ can we truly become one. Becoming one in Christ happens one by one—we each begin with ourselves. We are dual beings of flesh and spirit and are sometimes at war within ourselves.” One in Christ, D. Todd Christofferson, 2023 bethnewellcoaching.com bethnewellcoaching@gmail.com

"When President Russell M. Nelson invited us to think celestially, it reminded us to look harder, take the long view, and change our perspective. For the next six months, that is our quest. We will consider Perspective, Devotion, and Relationship. Let us all look harder and think celestial. It will lead us to discover the rich blessings Heavenly Father has in store for each of us.”

For over 50 years, For the Strength of Youth has been a guide for generations of Latter-day Saint youth. I always keep a copy in my pocket, and I share it with people who are curious about our standards. It has been updated and refreshed to better cope with the challenges and temptations of our day. The new version of For the Strength of Youth is available online in 50 different languages and will also be available in print. It will be a significant help for making choices in your life. Please embrace it as your own and share it with your friends. This new version of For the Strength of Youth is subtitled A Guide for Making Choices. To be very clear, the best guide you can possibly have for making choices is Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the strength of youth. So the purpose of For the Strength of Youth is to point you to Him. It teaches you eternal truths of His restored gospel—truths about who you are, who He is, and what you can accomplish with His strength. It teaches you how to make righteous choices based on those eternal truths.13 It's also important to know what For the Strength of Youth does not do. It doesn't make decisions for you. It doesn't give you a “yes” or “no” about every choice you might ever face. For the Strength of Youth focuses on the foundation for your choices. It focuses on values, principles, and doctrine instead of every specific behavior. The Lord, through His prophets, has always been guiding us in that direction. He is pleading with us to “increase [our] spiritual capacity to receive revelation.”14 He is inviting us to “hear Him.”15 He is calling us to follow Him in higher and holier ways.16 And we are learning in a similar way every week in Come, Follow Me. Thanks to our faithful donors, we are able to provide food, housing, healthcare, education, fresh water, emergency relief, micro-enterprise solutions and much more. We are proud to have fed millions of people and provided more than 15.7 billion dollars in aid. Our faith inspires us to be an organization built on compassion, and motivated by love. Our mission is to bring relief to the poorest of the poor in the countries where we serve. We strive to reflect God's unconditional love. It's a sacrificial love that embraces all people regardless of race or religion. We believe that we can show His love by serving the “least of these” on this earth as Christ challenged us to do in Matthew 25. We pray that by God's grace, and with your support, we can continue to bring relief to the suffering and hope to the hopeless. --------------------------------------------------------
In this time of uncertainty, we must defer to the will of God to find unity. We cannot forget our mission and the source of our strength. D. "Our hearts were drawn to the call of a prophet this April 2023 conference weekend. He reminded us that the easiest way to identify a follower of Christ is how compassionately that person treats other people. He told us that charity is the principal characteristic of a true follower of Christ, how charity defines a peacemaker. He promised us that if we would follow his counsel, we would arise as a spiritually strong woman of Christ. And then he told us the best is yet to come for those who spend their lives building up others. The prophet invited us to examine our discipleship, to make adjustments so that our behavior would be representative of a true follower of Jesus Christ. To live and interact with others in a higher, holier way. “I invite you to remember Jesus Christ. Pray to have the courage and wisdom to say or do what He would.” For the next six months, we plan to accept this invitation. In April and May, we will learn to UNDERSTAND HIS LOVE as we study the life and attributes of the PEACE GIVER. In June and July, we will study how to FEEL HIS LOVE as we find ways to experience PERSONAL PEACE. In August and September, we will discover how to SHARE HIS LOVE as we learn how to become PEACEMAKERS.Love gives second chances. Love asks, How can I help? Love is the welcoming in. Love doesn't stand higher, but meets people where they are. Love is never too good for someone. Love is full of grace. Love does not call attention to self. Love has an understanding heart. Love assumes the best. Love will not stand for injustice, helps carry the burden, creates trust, has high hopes and expectations. Love doesn't leave when things get tough.Love never fails. We look forward to spending the next six months with you!”

I'm a week late with this episode, and I'm so sorry! I had some major technical difficulties this week, but I think I have them figured out now! Thanks for you patience. Just three more episodes before we're done with this Conference! Elder Bassett, in his talk “After the Fourth Day,” gives us the reassurance that Christ will always come through for us. Here are some questions to consider as you study: “My impression is that the Savior expects us to do all we can do, and He will do what only He can do.” What experiences have you had like this? Elder Bassett lists three ways to move through trials - following counsel of prophets, keeping commandments, and making and keeping covenants. How are you doing these things in your life? Our overarching covenant commitment is to do God's will “and to be obedient to his commandments in all things that he shall command us.” (2021, D. Todd Christofferson, Why the Covenant Path) “The Savior invites all to follow Him into the waters of baptism and, in time, to make additional covenants with God in the temple and receive and be faithful to those further essential ordinances. … Consider seriously the enabling laws of the Lord.” (2019, Russell M. I loved talking about Elder Christofferson's talk “Our Relationship with God.” Here are some questions to consider as you study: When have you felt betrayed by God when a certain blessing hasn't come when you thought it would? How can you trust in the Lord and not in outcomes? How do you get close to God in times of disappointment and struggle? What is the Lord telling you? What questions do you want to study further? Kevin and Todd cover Elder Christofferson's offering on trusting in God, even when things aren't going how we expected and discuss how those challenges are what can bring us to the Lord, learning to walk side by side with Him.
This month marks the 175th anniversary of the Mormon Battalion. This group of 500 Latter-day Saints traveled all the way from Kansas to San Diego, California to help in the war effort against Mexico. But why are we still talking about them almost 2 centuries later? And what can we learn from their sacrifice? Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mormon Battalion Association President Greg Christofferson, and composer Marden Pond address those questions and preview an event honoring the battalion this weekend. Families are complex, and they all look different. In this meditation, we will repent for the areas where we fall short, offer gratitude for all that is going well, and create something new for our families. Music provided by Addison Kirk. REFERENCES: “Much that is essential [to families] can be achieved in less than ideal circumstances” (D. Todd Christofferson, “Why God, Why Family,” Ensign or Liahona, May 2015, 52) Mantra: “I have power over what happened in my home and family.” “Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ” (The Family: A Proclamation to the World, paragraph 7). “Strengthen the family as a fundamental unit of society” (The Family: A Proclamation to the World, paragraph 9).
If God love us so much why does He give us so many rules? Why don't we see immediate results when we obey them? In this talk, Elder Christofferson addresses the truth that God does indeed love us and has given us many proofs of that love and that we should love one another.Music acknowledgementsMusic: In Dulci Jubilo Michel Rondeau (trumpet)Performers: Marthe Jobidon (trumpets), Eric Vaillancourt & Steve Guerin (trombones)Publisher Info.Michel RondeauCopyright Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Misc. Study with us this week to learn answers to these and other questions. Show Notes: "Patience: More Than Waiting," Ensign, August 2015. D. Todd Christofferson, "The Living Bread Which Came Down From Heaven," General Conference, October 2017. Blue Dot Sessions, "Weathervane," Creative Commons.
