As broadcast with plenty of our best la's in tow (and apologies to Everton supporters for the image, we just liked the street art, no bias intended). Tonight on our weekly Round Trip we head for Liverpool while trying unsuccessfully to avoid The Beatles Museum, but we did keep it mostly more contemporary and indie for the grand majority. Obviously, a city with a very unique flavor all its own, we had some definite highlights from the dearly departed Her's duo, along with other quality entries from The Wombats, Bill Ryder-Jones, and All We Are amongst other worthies past & present. This is Liverpool, or at least what we could fit into two hours of radio. #feelthegravityTracklist (st:rt)Part I (00:00)Her's – What Once Waspizzagirl – seabirdsThe Shipbuilders – Feeling In My PocketShe Drew The Gun – Something For The PainThe Dead 60's – Riot RadioTramp Attack – Oh! As broadcast May 25, 2022 with plenty of golf balls to toss in the pool. We open with the iconic OG rock opera "Tommy" by The Who to start things with the history, then it's more indie than you can stuff in yer filthy muth for the remainder, with Kat Bass doing the honors on the selections for the grand majority. Great new tunes out from Young Winona, Mt. I chat to the very boss singer, guitarist and songwriter Mike Halls (Clean Cut Kid) about being at uni together (and what a LAUGH it was), Clean Cut Kid's upcoming 4th album, and how to really perfect Spotify (aside from the royalty splits!).
How have streaming platforms affected artists incomes? This week, we are joined by Mike and Evelyn of Clean Cut Kid who share their insights on releasing music on streaming platforms versus exclusively physical copies. We discuss the different ways of listening to albums, creative ways of releasing albums and how saturated the music industry really is. Mike and Evelyn give their fascinating perspective on the music industry from the inside - you won't want to miss this one. The Long One..... Sometimes you have a conversation and everything needs to stay! this episode is longer than usual, trust me though... it's worth sticking around for. Episode 3 is here, thank you again so much for the ratings and reviews so far. Big thanks to everybody too that entered my instagram/Podcast subscribe competition! I recorded this weeks episode with Mike at my studio just before they headed out on a mini tour to promote their new album 'Painwave'. I have had the album on repeat since it's release day on 29th March. Mike is one of the coolest people I've met in the last couple of years. I always find it amazing when I meet somebody who is as passionate about their interests/career, as I am about mine. Mike is one of those people I have met in life who I have instantly felt comfortable talking to, he is a great person. After seeing Clean Cut Kid perform a few times in the last few years I was dying to get Mike in my Barberchair, not only for a chat but to tame his beard for him. I felt honoured that Mike allowed me to trim his beloved beard and it was great to hear that he was buzzing with what I did to it. Listen to Mike speak about how Clean Cut Kid were born, his love of music from a really young age, his wife Evelyn and their incredible harmonies and what it's like to have your head tattooed! I'm sure you'll agree with me when I say Mike is nothing less than a musical genius, his musical brain blew me away on a few occasions during this chat. If this is the first time you've heard of Clean Cut Kid please go and check them out on Spotify, iTunes, Instagram, Twitter.... and wherever else you might find them. Even book a ticket to one of there gigs on my recommendation, you definitely won't be disappointed!
