Earlier this week, we were chatting about newlyweds, Lucy Kelly and Tadgh Dennehy, who recently got hitched! The Cork couple decided to do things a little differently on their big day and chose an unusual method of transport to travel to their venue in Cobh - they took the train from Kent Station, along with 100 of their nearest and dearest! Upon hearing this gorgeous story, lots of listeners got in touch to share their own slightly unusual wedding stories . One message in particular captured our attention...I was at Paolo Nutini in Thomond Park last Saturday evening & there was a wedding party in one of the corporate boxes, apparently, bride & groom are huge Paolo fans so rented out a corporate box for the day & they looked like they were having a ball! Put out a call & they might tell you all about it, we certainly enjoyed looking at them from the pitch!Well, Ireland is small and it turns out the groom was listening! Paddy Curran joined Ian on this morning's show and told him all about himself and his wife Carmel's special day!

Hello and welcome to episode 162 of the ACPG Podcast. This week Ben is zooming down under again with the lovely Gena Rose Bruce. Ben and Gena talk about her second album Deep Is The Way, touring, festivals, and moving to the UK (soon). Last year a suffocating black fog pursued Melbourne musician Gena Rose Bruce through the night's depths – a recurring dream wraith brought on by the passing of her partner's mother and pandemic instability. Deep Is The Way chronicles Bruce's fraught path back into the light, as she processes death and inner turmoil to emerge with a newfound state of strength and resilience. The album finds her working with long time collaborators and forging a new wildcard relationship. Gena always due to support Paolo Nutini and Beck very soon. Jealous does even cut it close. Thank you to Gena for her time and Jodie for setting up the interview.

Both Martin and Gordon have been on Blethered a few times before, but this is the first time we've all been in the studio together, and it was a great laugh from start to finish. The lads have a brilliant new podcast called Restless Natives, in association with Global Radio, and I find out how the idea came about, how they became pals in the first place, and their grand plans for a music festival in Martin's hometown of Greenock, in aid of the absolutely fantastic Ardgowan Hospice. This is an episode of laughs, stories and chat, interspersed with some poignant reflection on life, hangovers becoming more severe, and the greatest names in Scottish culture, including Billy Connolly and Paolo Nutini. And as always, there's plenty more. www.dontfretaboutdebt.net/blethered/ Contact: seanmcdonald.podcast@gmail.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/seanmcdonald01
Skin, Nona Hendryx and Paolo Nutini discuss writing songs in your dreams, knowing when to grab at an idea, why playing piano can take you to places you have no right to go, and fighting on stage. Skin grew up in a Jamaican family in Brixton, London, and as a child, wanted to be a pianist. She formed Skunk Anansie in 1994 and they became pioneers of the Britrock scene, speaking out against racism, homophobia and sexism. She was also the first Black artist to headline the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury Festival when the band performed there in 1999. Vocalist, songwriter, producer, author and actress Nona Hendryx was a member of the pioneering girl group Labelle in the 1960s and 1970s. Since then, her avant-garde solo career has taken in everything from hard rock to RnB to house music, and she intends to become a cyborg and still make music. Following an 8 year absence from the music scene, Scottish singer-songwriter Paolo Nutini is back with his latest project Last Night in the Bittersweet, and pop superstar Lewis Capaldi has declared himself a huge fan.

This week, we speak to Leo Abrahams. Leo is a musician, composer and producer. Although classically trained, he left behind a degree in composition at the royal academy to play guitar for Imogen Heap, and later, Ed Harcourt as part of their touring bands. A chance encounter with production legend Brian Eno led to him assisting on a variety of projects, often helping to ‘finish' the myriad of releases Brian would be working across. This led to him taking on more production roles and Leo has since built a fascinating C.V. that includes Frightened Rabbit, Wild Beasts, Katie Melua and Paolo Nutini. From his newly completed studio in east London he now divides his time between film and TV composition, session guitar work, solo albums, and of course, his production work. And it's here we joined him to hear the story of his new studio, his serendipitous meeting with Mr Eno and what it's like touring Siberia with a coach full of free jazz musicians… The Process of Production is presented by Lawrence Diamond and Bob Matthews. Lawrence cut his teeth playing and writing in Indie bands before finding international success and touring the world with his band CITIZENS! During that time he worked with a host of revered producers including Liam Howe, Mark Ralph and Alex Kapranos. Since the band ended in 2016 he's been using that experience to help other artists develop their careers as a writer and producer while continuing to release his own music under various different guises. Bob learned his trade as the producer and multi-instrumentalist in Electronic Pop duo Alpines, whose career spans 3 albums, releases on major and indie record labels, shows with Florence + The Machine, The xx, Emeli Sandé, and a top 20 hit 'Tidal Wave' in collaboration with Sub Focus. In recent years he has turned his focus to producing other acts and has a studio in Chiswick in West London. As broadcast May 25, 2022 with plenty of golf balls to toss in the pool. We open with the iconic OG rock opera "Tommy" by The Who to start things with the history, then it's more indie than you can stuff in yer filthy muth for the remainder, with Kat Bass doing the honors on the selections for the grand majority. Great new tunes out from Young Winona, Mt. Joy, ViVii, and Say Sue Me being the highlights of a strong lineup of new indie cuts.#feelthegravityTracklisting:Part I (00:00)The Who – A Quick One While He's AwayYoung Winona – SadisticNick Leng – SpiralsKALI – InsomniaArjuna Oakes – Safe Way To FallSefi Zisling – Welcome Sunset Part II (36:57)Vansire - Bryn Mawr All-Stars Peaness - Girl Just Relax Panda Riot - 1000% Alice Merton - Loveback Clean Cut Kid - Little Black Space Mt.
