Today, it's back on Broadway in a dazzling all-new production, Tony Award®️ nominated for Best Musical Revival, that feels more relevant than ever. “Everything about this exhilarating production shakes you awake and leaves you buzzed: Knockout singing, superbly inventive stagecraft and a star-making performance from 24-year-old Ali Louis Bourzgui as the Pinball Wizard that's the most exciting New York stage debut in years.” (NY Post) “Broadway has nothing else like this wizardry going on, not this season and nothing I know of for next season. Visually and sonically overwhelming, it's a prescient masterpiece of a rock opera.” Chris Jones, Chicago Tribune Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
__________ Über diese Songs vom Album "Tommy" wird im Podcast gesprochen (04:22) – "Overture"(10:18) – "1921"(15:29) – "Eyesight for the Blind"(15:55) – "Cousin Kevin"(16:11) – "The Acid Queen"(16:26) – "Fiddle About"(21:20) – "Christmas"(28:53) – "Pinball Wizard"(31:55) – "I'm Free"(36:46) – "Tommy's Holiday Camp"(39:23) – "We're Not Gonna Take It / See Me, Feel Me"__________ Über diese Songs wird außerdem im Podcast gesprochen (27:47) – "Night In The City " von Electric Light Orchestra (39:23) – "Ziggy Stardust" von David Bowie__________ Shownotes The Who und "Pinball Wizard" im Beat-Club: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FRsyDNvtWADie deutsche Band „German Bonds“ Live im Beat-Club_ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=288cvHTOn_kDokumentation "The Who – Die explosive Geschichte einer Band" bei Arte: https://www.arte.tv/de/videos/101888-000-A/the-who-die-explosive-geschichte-einer-band/ SWR1 Meilensteine Folge zu "Abbey Road": https://www.swr.de/swr1/rp/meilensteine/swr1-meilensteine-the-beatles-abbey-road-100.html__________ Ihr wollt mehr Podcasts wie diesen? Author/screenwriter Michael Meloan, a confident of the late writer Bukowski, says this about the story that makes up his 136-page novella PINBALL WIZARD: “Young software engineer Ralph Hargraves is buffeted between a controlling father, international intrigue in the US defense industry, and an impactful friendship with the writer Charles Bukowski. A wild girlfriend also ratchets up the action. And a shamanic physicist introduces a new way of thinking. Is Ralph the Pinball Wizard or the pinball? In the end, he must decide. And he does.” While his book deals with a close relationship with Bukowski, PINBALL WIZARD tackles the author's sense of developing his own identity and growth as a writer as well. “In 1980,” said Meloan,” my girlfriend Jan worked at a small health food restaurant in South Redondo Beach owned by Linda Lee Beighle. Jan told me that Linda was dating the poet Bukowski. I had read his column “Notes of a Dirty Old Man” in the LA Free Press when I was in high school. I was a fan, and so through Jan, I was invited to the house. Bukowski and I immediately hit it off.He and Linda continued to invite me to the house for various parties from 1980 to the time of his death in 1994.” Meloan continues, “Also, during that time Bukowski's work was being adapted into films. I was invited to numerous premieres, screenings, and parties. Most notably, Barfly, starring Faye Dunaway and Mickey Rourke. After Bukowski's death, I appeared as an interview subject in the documentary Bukowski: Born into This. I accompanied the director John Dullaghan to Sundance where the film was purchased for theatrical distribution.”http://pinballwizardbook.comThe Douglas Coleman Show now offers audio and video promotional packages for music artists as well as video promotional packages for authors. We also offer advertising. Hour 1: Boomer is back from his golf trip in the Dominican Republic and is excited for this week in the NFL's offseason. We should find out what Aaron Rodgers is doing sometime this week. There are also reports that Daniel Jones' agents and the Giants are not close to a deal yet, essentially walking him into a franchise tag. Boomer said the Giants would be crazy to give him $45 million a year. Boomer still thinks that Aaron Rodgers will be a NY Jet this season. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with the Knicks winning their ninth straight by beating Boston. The Nets beat the Hornets in Brooklyn and Boomer wonders how many people go to those games now. The Grizzlies suspended Ja Morant for at least two games for posting a video on Instagram with a gun at a strip club. Boomer wishes he was surveyed when he was a player on the Bengals. Boomer talked about his days with the Bengals and how their facilities were terrible compared to what the players have today. Jerry returns for an update and has audio of Rob Saleh on Joe Benigno's podcast. Joe tells Saleh their first pick in the draft has to be an offensive lineman. Joe drops a classic ‘how bout that?' Jerry went around the NBA with the Knicks and Nets both winning. Buck Showalter talked about Kodai Senga's Spring Training start. Aaron Hicks said he's the left fielder and it's up to him to keep the job. In the final segment of the hour, it all comes down to the wire tomorrow between Daniel Jones and the Giants. Stu, Stewie, Stuart...are we feeling the chemistry? We love Brenda in this episode but find out why that's controversial! Like a Virgin, why didn't Andrea tell the girls?? Hmmmmm Tori and Jennie have their valid criticism of the episode but it was the catalyst for a deeper discussion.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
