Hey there and welcome to the wemove podcastIt was the end of the tennis grand slam of the Australian Open at the weekend. Pretty pumped for the level of play in both men's and women's. Congrats to Madison Keys and Jannik Sinner for their displays of Slam winning play. Continuing the theme of tennis with today's episode but focussed on the community level. A couple of episodes back we spoke to Amsterdam Tennis Society about the growth of their social tennis club, and closer to home, we have just spoken to the founding trio of Bisque Tennis club in London.Run club formats are established and continue to grow, which continues to amaze me at the evolution of the running and running community space. It's a model that's inspiring people to get up and run, move and ultimately change their physical and mental states, which is fantastic. Now this has been happening for a while, plus other sporting communities have been growing, in the training space for example with CrossFit, Hyrox and also climbing and bouldering. Racquet sports are now bubbling up, boosted by Padel and Pickle. These new sports are bringing their own innovations as they develop. The more traditional ones, in this case tennis, with it's heritage, traditions and sometimes stifling rules and norms has not seen much innovation and evolution. That is until now, with the likes of Bisque and Amsterdam Tennis Society emerging and connecting with other like minded tennis players through social platforms.Bisque founders, Alejandro, Seb and Alex sat down with me this weekend to chat Bisque, it's ideas, formats and plans for bringing players together of all levels to enjoy getting on court and hitting some balls without being bound by the sometimes stifling club traditions. Thanks to the guys for their time. If you are in London and want to get onto a tennis court, but feel reluctant to give it a go for whatever reason, check Bisque out and sign up for one of their sessions. Thanks for listening. from Chris and me. Peace.

On the night of Saturday, October 15th, 2011, 17-year-old Blake Chappell attended the homecoming dance at East Coweta High School in Georgia with his girlfriend. After the dance, Blake planned to spend the night with a close friend, however, after a few hours he decided to see his girlfriend instead.  Blake went to his girlfriend's house and they spent about 30 minutes together before a family member discovered Blake. He left at around 5 AM and began walking back to his friend's house, but tragically, he never made it.  Family, friends, and police searched tirelessly for over two months before Blake's body was discovered on December 19th. He was found face down in a creek, wearing little clothing, with a gunshot wound to his head.  It's been over thirteen years since Blake was killed and the questions remain: who killed Blake Chappell, and why? 17-year-old Blake Chappell disappeared after visiting his girlfriend early in the morning on October 16th, 2011, in Newnan, Georgia. The two had attended the East Coweta High School homecoming dance the evening before. His last communication was from his text-only phone just after 5:30 AM.  Law enforcement, family and friends searched for Blake for just over two months. His body was discovered face down in a creek near the SummerGrove Golf and Tennis Club. Blake was only wearing an undershirt and his underwear, according to reports he had been shot in the head from a .22 to .45 caliber gun at close range. Anyone with information is asked to contact CrimeStoppers of Greater Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS (404-577-8477) or the Newnan PD Tip Line at 770-254-2350. There is a $20,000 reward in the case. Played in less than 50 places in the entire World, Real Tennis is very different from Lawn Tennis not just because it is the original "true" thing born many centuries ago and played by figures like Henry VIII. Real Tennis is played in an asymmetrical court, which many unusual features could make someone think about squash to a certain extent, and with hand made balls which are pretty unpredictable in behaviour and not replicable on large scale. Josh Smith is Head Professional at the exclusive Holyport Real Tennis Club, in Berkshire,  built in 1889 by renowned court builder Joseph Bickley. His expertise as a coach and international ranking player is at the core of this interview dwelling in the multifaceted characteristics of the sport, and it helps identify the sport psychology aspects which might more affect the players. In his opinion, to excel at Real Tennis there is a need for specific "sport intelligence" and for a "short-memory" attitude to never look back at the past points, but only focus in the present moment of the game. Easier said than done, in this interview, we try to understand more about what tennis is Real Tennis and what its players are made of. Searches for Lululemon's tennis skirts alone surged by 95 percent year-on-year. 95%。 Data from Meituan indicated that since July, tennis-related online searches have jumped by over 60 percent, while tennis-related orders have skyrocketed by 172 percent. 172%。Zheng's Olympic victory further fueled this trend, with online searches for tennis dresses on Taobao increasing by 240 percent within a week. 240%。 The surge in popularity of racket sports has coincided with a proliferation of tennis events across China. The China Open in Beijing, the Rolex Shanghai Masters, and the recent ATP Tour in Chengdu, Sichuan province, and Zhuhai, Guangdong province, alongside digital broadcasts of grand slams, have all contributed to this tennis boom. Wen Liyuan, who runs a leading tennis training camp in Beijing, noted a significant rise in interest among children and their parents. We believe all neighborhoods deserve to be covered in a meaningful way.We amplify positive stories, cover development and local school council meetings and serve as watchdogs in neighborhoods often ostracized by traditional news media.Ground-level coverageOur neighborhood-based reporters don't parachute in once to cover a story. They are in the neighborhoods they cover every day building relationships over time with neighbors. We believe this ground-level approach not only builds community but leads to a more accurate portrayal of a neighborhood.Stories that matter to you — every daySince our launch five years ago, we've published more than 25,000 stories from the neighborhoods, covered hundreds of community meetings and send daily and neighborhood newsletters to more than 130,000 Chicagoans. We've built this loyalty by proving to folks we are not only covering their neighborhoods, we are a part of them. Some of us have internalized the national media's narrative of a broken Chicago. We aim to change that by celebrating our neighborhoods and chronicling the resilience of the people who fight every day to make Chicago a better place for all.

Seither kommen Sie regelmässig in unseren Club.» Wdh.

This summer, Paris will become the second city to host three summer Olympics. This week, we're merging history and the Olympics on the "Dying to Ask" podcast. Bill George is the author of a new book called "Victory in the Pool." Decades before Team USA celebrated names like Michael Phelps and Katie Ledecky, Sacramento was the center of U.S. swimming, and its aquatic leader was a guy named Sherm Chavoor. Chavoor coached athletes, including Debbie Meyer, Mark Spitz and Mike Burton, to win Olympic gold medals between 1968 and 1972. Chavoor coached at the Arden Hills Swim and Tennis Club. But he wasn't a swimmer himself. And Sherm Chavoor wasn't even his real name. "He didn't publicize it. His real name was Izikiel Correa and he was a poor kid from the Oakland area. He came to Sacramento as a swim coach and became famous as Sherm Chavoor. Everybody knew him as Sherm Chavoor. I think even his swimmers never really realized his real name," George said. On this Dying to Ask: How Sherm Chavoor became Sherm Chavoor. How he started a swimming dynasty that defied race, religion and social status. And how a natural knack for marketing led underdog swimmers and a green coach to greatness.

Sone of the most exciting – and often overlooked – tennis matches are played on college campuses. These two coaches made their women's teams among the best in the country. As Alabama's women's tennis coach, Jenny Mainz was named the 2013 ITA National Coach of the Year and won two NCAA Doubles Championships in 2014 & 2015. She offers a rich history of how Alabama women's tennis rose from barely having a team to be one of the SEC best over her 26 years at the helm. Upon his retirement this year, Jeff Wallace was the winningest college coach in the country. His Bulldogs won NCAA titles in 1994 and 2000 along with four other national titles. He was named ITA National Coach of the year four times. He discusses the NCAA hosting three division championships at the USTA National Campus.
