The scourge of child sex abuse within the Catholic Church has been well documented. The Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP) is now renewing calls that the Archdiocese of Washington release the names of known, hidden abusers. It's a message Dan Ronan — a survivor of child sex abuse at the hands of a priest — echoes. On the show, Ronan tells his story of how Father Thomas Gannon sexually abused him as an 11-year-old boy in Chicago. He also talks about why Gannon wasn't punished for this alleged assault and later became a respected professor at Georgetown University. Ronan walks us through this trauma and shares how he ultimately found peace 50 years later. Learn more about your ad choices. In this episode of Attention Retention host Jackie McManus chats with Dan Ronan filling in for Tim Ridley. The two discuss effective strategies for creating a more supportive and sustainable corporate culture in the trucking industry. Jackie emphasizes the importance of focusing on driver recruitment, retention, and recognition. To enhance retention rates, companies are encouraged to establish driver mentorship programs and maintain consistent communication between drivers and leadership. Recognizing drivers' contributions and providing a sense of belonging within the organization can significantly improve job satisfaction and retention. The duo also highlight the significance of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives in the trucking industry. Embracing DEI principles can lead to increased revenue and growth for companies. To foster a more inclusive work environment, businesses are advised to develop targeted messaging for different driver personas, utilize social media to represent the diverse workforce, and collaborate with organizations advocating for women and underrepresented groups in the industry.

Right now, in the ports of Southern California, product planning, purchasing, and regulatory forces are coming together to lay the groundwork for first real electric ecosystem. Grants and incentives make EV technology attractive for both new truck manufacturers and buyers. So, host Dan Ronan wonders, could what’s happening at the ports of Southern California have consequences for the way the rest of the nation experiences an electric future? To find out, he spends time with the head of product planning for a major truck manufacturer and the policy expert with an eye on sustainable trucking. Tune in. It’s time to trade in your old tech for new. Oh… and you have less than a year to complete the journey. Every business manager knows that, when you have institutionalized an operational technology, moving to a new system can feel like an impossible task. And the stakes increase when outside forces put a time constraint on that change. Some of the trucking's most forward-thinking managers provide a good example. Their tech? The driver-logging software known as AOBRDs. These managers have until December 2019 to migrate to new tracking platforms: Electronic Logging Devices (ELD). Unlike those who adopted ELDs as new technology, AOBRD users understand the benefits of this tracking technology but must deal with legacy workflows and other operational requirements. In this episode of RoadSigns, host Seth Clevenger maps the great tech migration from AOBRDS to ELDS and asks, “What will trucking's business leaders need to make the transition in time?” For more information visit: https://roadsigns.ttnews.com/episodes/is-trucking-charging-toward-an-electric-reality/ Follow the RoadSigns: Twitter: @ttroadsigns LinkedIn: RoadSignspocast Instragram: @roadsignspodcast Join RoadSigns mailing list: https://roadsigns.ttnews.com/join-the-mailing-list/
In terms of raw numbers, the November 2018 election brought the highest level of voter involvement in a non-presidential election in our nation’s history, but, host Dan Ronan wonders, what will it mean for trucking's future? Is this the time where President Trump, who calls himself a dealmaker, is able to sit down with his opponents in Congress and negotiate a grand deal to begin the long process to repair our crumbling infrastructure? Ronan sits with two Capitol Hill correspondents to seek answers. In previous episodes, my sisters have ruined Christmas, and Memorial Day. Now they ruin a funeral. This episode was recorded after attending the funeral of a close family member, and my sisters help produce an episode where the humor is as black as pitch. It's the full set of Kubler-Ross stages, it's the laugh that catches in your throat, it's the tears which might be of laughter or pain. It's This Week in Despair. This episode also contains a tribute to our fallen comrade and former guest, the late Dan Ronan.
Exceptional sets from Guy Branum, Liza Treyger, Matt Ruby, Alice Wetterlund and Ed Salazar. Cameo from Rhea Butcher, your host Cameron Esposito, and a very special set from Dan Ronan.

This week, Michael Ortiz and Dan Ronan join me to sift through the entrails of the previous week. Topics include drones, zombies, the North Carolina state legislature, and other mindless entities. The yumminess of whales is discussed. Michael gets angry about banks. The panel agrees that we're the first ones eaten when the apocalypse comes.

With gasoline prices on the rise for the fifth straight week, we're all feeling a pinch at the pump. But what does it really cost to drive your car? The answer, which is calculated through a multi-variable formula in a report by the American Automobile Association, or AAA, is nearly 60 cents per mile for the average motorist. For more on the report, I spoke with AAA-Texas spokesman Dan Ronan.
