https://jo.my/icpypwCord and Power Tool ManagementA bad cord doesn't look like much at first. A little nick in the jacket. A missing ground pin. A power strip tucked behind a desk with too many plugs in it. Small stuff, right? Not really.Electrical problems can turn fast. A damaged extension cord can shock a worker. A weak connection can heat up. A power tool with a bad cord can fail in someone's hands. Fast. Dangerous. Preventable.A strong Safety Culture pays attention to the small things before they become big things. That's the real work. We don't wait for smoke, sparks, or for someone to get hurt. We build habits that catch hazards early, fix them quickly, and keep the facility moving safely. Here are a few tips to assist you with Cord & Power Tool Management: Inspect cords before use. Look for cuts, frays, exposed wires, loose plugs, cracked insulation, or missing ground pins. Don't tape up a bad cord and call it good. Remove it from service and report it. Check power tools before plugging them in. Look at the cord, plug, trigger, guards, and housing. If something feels loose, smells hot, or sparks, stop using it. A tool should help the job, not add risk. Avoid daisy-chaining power strips. Plugging one power strip into another can overload the circuit and create heat. Offices, break rooms, and workstations need clean power setups. One strip into the wall. That's it. Use the right cord for the job. Match the cord to the load, the distance, and the work area. Outdoor or dock-adjacent areas may need cords rated for tougher conditions. Don't run cords through puddles, doorways, or pinch points. Test GFCI outlets in damp areas. Dock doors, wash areas, battery charging spots, and damp corners need extra attention. Test the outlet using the test and reset buttons. If it won't trip or reset, report it right away. As always, these are potential tips. Please be sure to follow the rules and regulations of your specific facility.Electrical safety works best when everyone owns it. Don't walk past a damaged cord. Don't ignore a buzzing outlet. Don't assume someone else will catch it.The safest facilities build simple habits and repeat them every day. Inspect. Report. Remove. Replace. That pattern saves time, protects people, and prevents work from stopping due to a preventable incident.Thank you for being part of another episode of Warehouse Safety Tips. Until we meet next time - have a great week, and STAY SAFE!#Safety #SafetyCulture #StaySafe #SafetyFirst #SafetyTips #StayAlert #SafetyAwareness #ElectricalSafety #PowerToolSafety #ExtensionCordSafety #GFCI
On this episode of the Howard Jarvis Radio Show, Susan and Jon discuss the importance of preserving Proposition 13. They delve into the history of the initiative, which limited property tax rates to 1% and protected homeowners from excessive tax increases. Jon explains how the courts have eroded some of these protections, and the need for the Local Taxpayer Protection Act to close loopholes and make it harder to raise taxes. They also discuss the impact of the wealth tax and the billionaire's tax on California residents and businesses.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this episode of the Profit First for Real Estate Investors podcast, host Kristina sits down with Simple CFO's Lee Vlcek to pull back the curtain on exactly how their CFO process works with real estate investors.Lee shares how he helps flippers, wholesalers, and growing business owners transform financial chaos into clarity — not just with better bookkeeping, but with forward-looking systems that help them make smarter decisions. From the very first onboarding call to implementing Profit First and building out dashboards that operators can actually understand, Lee walks through what the Simple CFO process looks like from the inside. If you're an operator who's great at finding deals but struggling to understand where your money is going, this episode shows exactly how the right financial systems can change everything.Episode Highlights[0:24] – Introduction to Lee Vlcek and his role at Simple CFO[2:05] – The types of clients Lee works with and what they have in common[2:54] – Lee's background growing a construction company from 3 to 25 employees[3:34] – Why operators are great at deals but need help on the financial side[4:28] – What happens on the first onboarding call with a new client[6:07] – The most common problem: lots of activity but no cash clarity[11:10] – How Simple CFO turns numbers into actionable decisions[12:01] – The CEO dashboard and why it resonates most with operators[13:07] – Why visual dashboards hit differently than spreadsheets and QuickBooks[17:25] – Why plugging in Profit First numbers without a diagnosis usually fails[17:57] – The power of actually paying yourself through the Profit First model[18:43] – The risks of DIY Profit First without expert calibration[19:01] – How Simple CFO customizes the Profit First setup for each client[23:43] – Client case study introduction: New Jersey flipper with a capital problem[24:45] – The core issue: capital deployed opportunistically instead of strategically[25:09] – Implementing Profit First and evaluating deal performance by type[25:31] – Cutting underperforming deal types and eliminating low-return lending[26:24] – Results in 60 days: margins up 20–30%, operating reserves at three months[27:06] – The leadership shift from chasing deals to building a real business5 Key TakeawaysRevenue without clarity isn't success. Many investors are generating cash but have no idea where it's going — that's where financial systems change everything.A CFO is not a bookkeeper. Bookkeepers look backward. A fractional CFO uses your numbers to help you make better forward-looking decisions.Profit First isn't one-size-fits-all. Plugging in percentages without a proper diagnosis often just moves money around without any strategic value.Pay yourself first. One of the biggest early wins Simple CFO creates is simply getting the owner actually paid — and that shift in mindset changes how they run the business. The fastest wins come from cutting what's not working. Eliminating underperforming deal types and restructuring payroll can improve margins dramatically in as little as 60 days.Links & ResourcesCompany: Simple CFO — simplecfo.comClosing RemarkIf you're an investor who feels like you're always busy but never sure where the money went, this episode is your wake-up call. Lee Vlcek breaks down exactly how Simple CFO meets clients where they are — and walks them toward the financial clarity that actually lets them build a business instead of just chasing the next deal.If this sounds like you, head over to simplecfo.com and book a discovery call to get the financial help and guidance your business needs.
Join the Co-Investing Club and start building passive income through real estate: https://sparkrental.mykajabi.com/co-investing-club-sparkrental If Brian and Deni had to start over in real estate investing today... they'd do it completely differently. No rental properties. No landlording headaches. No $100K minimums blocking diversification. 2026 is a strange year for real estate. Interest rates are stuck high. Commercial property values have crashed. Investors are paralyzed on the sidelines. But here's the thing: when there's blood in the streets, that's when the best opportunities exist. The problem? Most people are approaching real estate investing the same way they did 20 years ago. And that strategy doesn't work anymore. We cover: → Why passive investing beats active landlording (and it's not what you think) → The two types of liability that come with rental properties (legal and debt) → How to invest in real estate with $2,500-$5,000 instead of $50K-$100K → The power of vetting investments as a community vs. going it alone → The "lazy 1031 exchange" that makes taxes simple → Dollar-cost averaging in real estate (yes, it's possible) → Why analysis paralysis keeps smart people broke → How Brian lost hundreds of thousands buying rentals without a mentor → Plugging into existing investor communities instead of starting from scratch → The bell curve approach to diversification and stress-free investing Starting over doesn't mean starting from zero. It means learning from two decades of expensive mistakes so you don't have to repeat them.
In this episode of the HVAC Know It All Podcast, host Gary McCreadie is joined by Eric Ruggles, Director of Engineering at Ritchie Engineering Co., Inc. (YELLOW JACKET), to discuss the key differences between airflow and static pressure and how to measure both correctly. Eric explains how airflow is calculated using air velocity and duct size, while static pressure is measured across system components to understand system performance. The conversation covers tools like hot wire anemometers and manometers, along with proper testing methods such as duct traversing and pressure tip placement. Gary and Eric also explore common issues like high static pressure caused by poor duct design, dirty filters, or oversized equipment, and how these problems can impact overall system efficiency. In this conversation, Eric explains the differences between airflow and static pressure in HVAC systems and how each one is measured. He describes how airflow is based on air speed and duct size, while static pressure shows how much resistance the system has. Eric and Gary discuss tools like hot wire anemometers and manometers, along with proper testing methods such as duct traversing and pressure tip placement. They also cover how issues like dirty filters, poor duct design, and system restrictions can raise static pressure and reduce overall system performance and airflow. Expect to Learn: How airflow and static pressure differ and why both matter in HVAC systems. How to use tools like hot wire anemometers and manometers for proper testing. How duct traversing helps get accurate airflow measurements. How static pressure testing can identify restrictions in filters and ductwork. How issues like dirty filters, poor duct design, and closed vents affect system performance. This episode continues the laws of squeezing (Sechitah) on Shabbos, focusing on practical and nuanced cases. We clarify the difference between passive melting (like placing ice into a drink, which is permitted) and actively causing melting or squeezing, which may be prohibited.Key topics include:Urinating on snow: Some authorities permit it since it resembles trampling snow, while others are stringent because the melting is inevitable and directly caused.Spreading cloth over a barrel: Prohibited if it may become wet and lead to squeezing (a form of laundering). If the cloth is designated for that purpose, it may be permitted.Stuffing material into a flask opening: Forbidden due to inevitable squeezing, which can involve either laundering or extracting liquid (similar to threshing).Using a sponge: Not allowed unless it has a handle, reducing direct squeezing.Plugging a barrel hole with cloth: Debate over whether an inevitable but undesired squeezing (Psik Reisha d'lo nicha lei) is permitted. Some allow it when no benefit is gained; others prohibit it rabbinically. The shiur highlights a central principle: when an outcome is inevitable but unwanted, it may still be rabbinically prohibited on Shabbos—even without direct benefit.
Is America Plugging the Hole or Arguing While We Sink? | Go Right with Peter BoykinWelcome back to Go Right with Peter Boykin, The Constitutionalist for Liberty, where perspective meets reality and truth comes before comfort. In this powerful episode, we dive into the growing feeling across America that we are arguing about everything except the actual problems in front of us. Using the metaphor of a ship taking on water, this episode explores how political debates, media narratives, and institutional reactions often focus more on tone and perception than real solutions. From the federal level in Washington to state leadership and down to local communities like those across North Carolina, this discussion examines how accountability is being replaced by deflection, how citizens raising concerns are sometimes labeled as the problem, and how systems can fail when responsibility is outsourced instead of embraced. What happens when unity becomes obedience? When transparency becomes optional? And when debate becomes a substitute for action? This episode breaks down how a Constitutional Republic is designed to function through accountability at every level of government and why civic responsibility is essential to maintaining liberty. In high school, a career and technical education program let her earn healthcare certifications that sparked real clinical interest. As an undergrad at Texas A&M, she sought academic rigor and built-in research while learning to ask for help sooner—through office hours, professional advising, and a premed society that brought advisors and medical schools to campus. She shares the toughest moments too: a rocky transition to college, being humbled by General Chemistry (but loving visual organic chemistry), and navigating a competitive premed culture by staying in her own lane. Inside medical school, she talks imposter syndrome, the fire‑hydrant pace of learning, and how Pomodoro, Anki, and visual tools on her iPad kept her grounded. She opens up about the stress of MMIs and virtual glitches, the relief of a Texas pre‑match call after three interviews, and the power of friends and family when things get heavy. If you're weighing how hard to push versus how smart to study, or how to keep your “why” front and center, Kaylah's candid reflections will help you recalibrate. What You'll Learn:- How to plug into advising and support even at large schools- Ways to manage competition by staying in your lane- Smarter study methods: Pomodoro, Anki, and visual learning- Handling MMIs when there's no feedback or affirmation- Keeping your why alive through setbacks and intensity

skills that pay Skills That Pay You Back in 30 Days | Episode 583 Most people think “learning a skill” means years of grinding before you see a payoff. That's wrong. There are a bunch of skills you can get to a useful level fast—like “top 10% because most people can't do it at all” fast—and they'll save you real money immediately. Some of them will be frustrating as hell. Some of them you'll need to learn when to stop and call a pro. But a few basic skills can save you hundreds… and sometimes thousands… in the next 30 days. The Cheat Code: “Top 10%” Is Shockingly Easy There's a bell curve to everything. Going from zero → competent is usually quick if you practice smart. Going from competent → elite is where it gets brutally hard. For prepping, you don't need elite. You need “I can handle basic problems without panic, and I'm not paying someone $300 for something I can do in an afternoon.” That's the sweet spot. Drywall Repair: Fast, Cheap, and Nobody Cares But You Drywall is probably the #1 “learn this and instantly stop bleeding money” skill. You can patch drywall a million ways. Some are janky but functional. Some look great and last. The key is picking the method that matches how much you care about the finish and how long you want it to hold up. Yes, if you post your drywall patch online, the “pros and armchair generals” will come tell you you're an idiot. Ignore them. Your wife will think you're a wizard because the hole is gone. And the first time you do it, you'll buy some basic tools—then you own them forever. That setup cost pays off fast. Basic Electrical: Replace an Outlet Before It Burns Your House Down Replacing an outlet is one of those skills that sounds scary until you do it right a couple times. Watch several videos. Get familiar with the process. Don't rush it. Electricity can kill you, and it can also burn your house down if you get lazy. Keep just enough fear to stay respectful. This isn't theoretical either—you can have an outlet overheat from a space heater pulling too much power. When you smell burning, the move is simple: kill the breaker and fix the problem, not “leave it and hope.” Once you know outlets, that leads to bigger wins: adding an outlet, moving an outlet, swapping a fixture—skills that stack with drywall work. Cut drywall, run wire, mount box, patch drywall, paint. Done. Plumbing: It's Annoying, But Fixing Leaks Pays in Blood Plumbing is a pain in the ass. That's just part of the deal. But the payoff is huge because busted pipes and leaks get expensive fast and ruin your whole day. The minimum viable plumbing skill is being able to stop the bleeding: cap something off, patch a busted line, fix a basic leak. Having a few tools and parts on hand matters—PEX tools (even if they're not perfect), a few fittings, and emergency push-to-connect fittings for when you just need water stopped now and you'll do it prettier later. Car Skills: Tires First, Then Diagnostics The number-one car skill isn't changing oil. It's tires. Changing a tire gets you home. Plugging a tire keeps that same tire running like nothing happened and can save you from buying a replacement. A tire plug is one of the highest-ROI skills you can learn quickly. From there, the next big upgrade is learning the common failures you'll actually see: ignition coils, basic sensors, and simple electrical issues. If you want to level up fast, having a basic diagnostic scanner at home is huge. Even if you don't fix everything, knowing what's wrong stops you from getting fleeced. The line is simple: when it turns into “it could be 20 different things,” that's usually when it's smarter to pay a professional to diagnose instead of playing expensive whack-a-mole. Know When to Stop: Skill Doesn't Mean Stupidity There are medical skills worth knowing—no question. But there's also a point where confidence turns into a bad decision. Having knowledge and tools is good. Deciding to pull your own tooth because you have a toothache is probably a terrible day. Preparedness includes knowing when to DIY and when to hand it off. Closing Skills are the prep that pays you twice: once in money saved, and again in confidence when something breaks at the worst possible time. Start with drywall. Learn basic outlet replacement. Get minimally competent at stopping leaks. Learn tires and tire plugs. Add a diagnostic scanner if you want to get dangerous. Learn fast. Save money. Stay independent. Most security failures don't start with a dramatic breach or a mysterious hacker sitting in a dark room. They usually start quietly. Someone assumes a system is locked down. Someone trusts that a door shouldn't open, or that a machine "just works," or that no one would ever think to look there. Over time, those small assumptions stack up, and that's where things tend to go wrong. Today's guest is FC Barker, a renowned ethical hacker, social engineer, and global keynote speaker with more than three decades of experience legally breaking into organizations to expose their blind spots. Formerly the head of offensive cybersecurity research at Raytheon and now co-founder of cybersecurity firm Cygenta, FC is also the author of How I Robbed Banks, a book packed with true stories from the field. In this conversation, FC shares what he's learned from decades of breaking into places he was hired to protect. The stories range from funny to unsettling, but they all point to the same pattern: technology usually isn't the weakest link. People are. From outdated systems that can't be replaced to everyday workplace habits that quietly invite risk, this episode offers a grounded look at how intrusions really happen and what actually makes environments safer. Show Notes: [03:06] FC grew up before cybersecurity existed and learned computers when manuals were thicker than the machines themselves. [05:27] How early internet culture shifted from curiosity-driven exploration to the rise of malicious actors. [07:15] Why inviting external testers to break into your systems was once an unthinkable idea and how that changed. [09:35] The danger of internal blind spots and why external validation is often more valuable than internal confidence. [10:46] Unexpected discoveries during penetration tests, including systems no one remembered were even running. [12:23] Choosing unusual, esoteric security projects and why unconventional systems often hide the biggest risks. [12:50] A real-world operation that involved reverse-engineering hardware to shut down power infrastructure in seconds. [16:29] One of the easiest break-ins ever happens accidentally, proving how fragile some systems really are. [17:21] The most common technical failure seen across organizations: poor network segmentation. [18:36] How a routine internal scan accidentally knocked an entire country's banking connection offline. [20:04] A bank unknowingly runs its internal network on an IP range owned by the U.S. Department of Defense. [21:43] A mysterious daily network outage turns out to be caused by a single employee's music collection. [23:07] Plugging into a forgotten network switch triggers a fire during a government penetration test. [25:15] Why penetration testers are often blamed first even when nothing has been touched yet. [26:25] Discovering malicious insider code planted by coordinated nation-state actors. [29:41] Why some outdated systems must remain untouched and why "just update everything" isn't realistic. [33:15] Implanting covert hardware inside everyday office devices to gain persistent network access. [35:01] How avoiding people altogether is often the most effective form of social engineering. [37:10] Why attackers move from the top floors down and how authority bias works without a single word spoken. [38:35] Clothing, context, and small visual cues that instantly make people assume you belong. [42:26] A penetration test derailed by an unexpected office costume day—and why randomness can be a defense. [44:33] A simple exercise anyone can use to start thinking like an attacker by examining their own home. Thanks for joining us on Easy Prey. The most important thing to know about a star is its mass – how heavy it is. Among other things, the mass reveals how long the star will live and how it will die. Measuring the mass of a single star is tough. It’s a lot easier to get the masses of stars in binary systems – two stars that orbit each other. An example is Menkalinan, the second-brightest star of Auriga. It’s a third of the way up the northeastern sky at nightfall, below the charioteer’s brightest star, Capella. Menkalinan’s two stars are so close together that we can’t see them as individual points. But breaking the system’s light apart reveals the presence of both stars. The stars orbit each other every four days, at about one-tenth of the distance from Earth to the Sun. Combined, those numbers reveal the system’s total mass. A couple of other numbers complete the picture. One is the angle at which we’re seeing the system. In the case of Menkalinan, that’s easy – the stars pass in front of each other, so we see the system edge-on. The other is the orbital motions of the stars. Plugging those numbers into the formula provides a precise mass for the individual stars. The stars of Menkalinan are almost identical. Each is more than twice the mass of the Sun. Each is also bigger and brighter than the Sun. So even though Menkalinan is more than 80 light-years away, it’s easy to see – the combined glow of two big, well-understood stars. Is your spiritual life running on low power mode? In this message, Pastor Jamie Nunnally shares how to plug in and power up by fully immersing yourself in the Spirit. This world will drain you, but the Holy Spirit will sustain you. We need to be baptized in the Holy Spirit.Baptize (baptizō) – to dip, immerse, submerge.3 Baptisms in the Bible:Baptism into the body of Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:13 — At the moment you believe, the Spirit places you into Christ and His body, the Church.Water baptism (baptism in the name of Jesus). Water baptism publicly identifies you with Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection. Baptism into Christ changes your spiritual position; water baptism declares your spiritual decision.Baptism in the Holy Spirit. If water baptism is your announcement, Spirit baptism is your empowerment. It's being filled with the Spirit or the Spirit coming upon you. Acts 1 says you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit and receive power to be His witnesses.Four things to know about Baptism in the Holy Spirit:It is separate from salvation and follows salvation. Like drinking water vs. bathing in water—two different experiences with two different purposes. The disciples received the Spirit in John 20, but were baptized in the Spirit in Acts 2. Other examples include the Samaritans in Acts 8, Gentiles in Acts 10, and new believers in Acts 19.The Holy Spirit baptizes us for empowerment. Salvation—the Spirit in you—is a free gift. But the Spirit on you is so you can do something: • Power to live a holy life (Galatians 5:16). • Power to supernaturally minister to others (1 Corinthians 12:4-7). The Spirit within you is for your spiritual identity. The Spirit upon you is for your spiritual assignment. You receive the Baptism in the Holy Spirit by asking for it. Luke 11 says your heavenly Father gives the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him. This is a good gift from a good Father. You can be baptized in the Holy Spirit again and again. Acts 4 shows the same people from Acts 2 being filled again. Ephesians 5:18 says to be continually filled.Believers are instructed to engage in all three baptisms: the Spirit, the water, and the blood. If you're insecure in your salvation, maybe you don't have all three witnesses in operation.ClosingJesus didn't tell the disciples, "Go try your best." He said, "Don't leave until you're plugged in." Salvation puts you in Christ, water baptism declares your commitment, but baptism in the Holy Spirit connects the cable and fires the engine. You weren't designed to live unplugged, but empowered. Are you plugging in?

Back in October of 2018, I plugged in with Rock-and-Roll-Hall-of-Famer Ace Frehley at his hotel suite in Hollywood, California. Having just re-listened to our hour together, I have to say: Wow, it's a cool episode — a great hang, and one that is all the more meaningful now that the Spaceman has passed. To honor Ace's life and music, I am re-posting the episode here for you to re-enjoy. I think you'll find it's a powerful portal through time that puts you in the room with the true rock star and the true New Yorker that was Ace Frehley — the true rock legend who inspired legions of young people to pick up the electric guitar, including many who have gone on to become famous rockers themselves. Here is the show exactly as it ran seven years ago. ———————— ORIGINAL 2018 SHOW NOTES: Founding Kiss lead guitarist ACE FREHLEY, aka "the Spaceman," has released a hard-rocking new solo album called just that — SPACEMAN. Plugging in one of his favorite '59 reissue Les Pauls, Ace sits down with me to jam a little, as well as detail the writing and recording of Spaceman, reflect on reuniting (for two songs) with Gene Simmons, and, of course, look back on his legacy — a wild ride that spanned everything from a youth spent surviving the streets of the Bronx to adult years surviving adventures with the Hall-of-Fame rock band that made him famous. Hope you enjoy it! —JUDE GOLD, host and creator, No Guitar Is Safe

The discussion also touches on the economic value of creativity and the need for a more comprehensive understanding of societal benefits beyond traditional metrics like GDP.See my ongoing compilation of UBI evidence on Bluesky:https://bsky.app/profile/scottsantens.com/post/3lckzcleo7s24See my ongoing compilation of UBI evidence on X: https://x.com/scottsantens/status/1766213155967955332US guaranteed basic income pilot result summaries:https://www.guaranteedincomeworks.org/researchFor more info about UBI, please refer to my UBI FAQ: http://scottsantens.com/basic-income-faqDonate to the Income To Support All Foundation to support UBI projects:https://www.itsafoundation.orgSubscribe to the ITSA Newsletter for monthly UBI news:https://itsanewsletter.beehiiv.com/subscribeVisit Basic Income Today for daily UBI news:https://basicincometoday.comSign up for the Comingle waitlist for voluntary UBI:https://www.comingle.usFollow Scott:https://linktr.ee/scottsantensFollow Conrad:https://bsky.app/profile/theubiguy.bsky.socialhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/conradshaw/Follow Josh:https://bsky.app/profile/misterjworth.bsky.socialhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/joshworth/Special thanks to: Gisele Huff, Haroon Mokhtarzada, Steven Grimm, Bob Weishaar, Dorothy Krahn, Judith Bliss, Lowell Aronoff, Jessica Chew, Katie Moussouris, David Ruark,Tricia Garrett, A.W.R., Daryl Smith, Larry Cohen, John Steinberger, Philip Rosedale, Liya Brook, Frederick Weber, Laurel gillespie, Dylan Hirsch-Shell, Tom Cooper, Robert Collins, Joanna Zarach, Mgmguy, Albert Wenger, Andrew Yang, Peter T Knight, Michael Finney, David Ihnen, Steve Roth, Miki Phagan, Walter Schaerer, Elizabeth Corker, Albert Daniel Brockman, Natalie Foster, Joe Ballou, Arjun ,' @Justin_Dart , Felix Ling, S, Jocelyn Hockings, Mark Donovan, Jason Clark, Chuck Cordes, Mark Broadgate, Leslie Kausch, Braden Ferrin , Juro Antal, centuryfalcon64, Deanna McHugh, Stephen Castro-Starkey, Tommy Caruso, and all my other patrons for their support. If you'd like to see your name here in future video descriptions, you can do so by becoming a patron on Patreon at the UBI Producer level or above: https://www.patreon.com/scottsantens/membership#universalbasicincome #BasicIncome #UBI
