For the Truman Brothers, music and faith are in their DNA. Raised in Nashville, Tennessee as sons of Latter-day Saint musician, Dan Truman (of the Grammy-winning group Diamond Rio), they spent their formative years in green rooms and tour buses as well as sacrament meetings and early-morning Seminary classes. Despite their musical upbringing, the brothers didn't really begin making music together until attending BYU, where they won the campus-wide Battle of the Bands two years in a row. Now as recording artists signed to Shadow Mountain Records, the Truman Brothers draw on their unique background to create Spirit-filled music not just for Sundays—but for every day of the week. With its energetic, pop-driven anthems, their debut album Quiet Revolution landed in the Top 10 on the iTunes Christian chart. Their songs have earned three Praiseworthy Awards presented by the LDSPMA, including “Best Original Religious Song” for their song “Oh Child". In addition to their work as a duo, the brothers are also longtime members of the Nashville Tribute Band.https://www.trumanbrothers.comhttps://www.instagram.com/trumanbrothershttps://www.tiktok.com/@thetrumanbrothershttps://www.facebook.com/trumanbrothershttps://www.youtube.com/user/trumanbrothers

Chad Truman recalls a specific moment on his mission where he had questions—not a faith crisis, just questions. He remembers hearing the words: “After your faith comes the Witness.” The Truman Brothers now sing songs of faith—songs that make a deliberately effort to represent a real faith journey. On this week's episode, we discuss music's ability to testify of Christ while acknowledging that our testimonies rarely grow linearly. This week we are talking about the 1998 disaster movie Armageddon with our guest Steven Brogan Cortez! When an asteroid threatens to collide with Earth, NASA honcho Dan Truman determines the only way to stop it is to drill into its surface and detonate a nuclear bomb. This leads him to renowned driller Harry Stamper, who agrees to helm the dangerous space mission provided he can bring along his own hotshot crew. Among them is the cocksure A.J., who Harry thinks isn't good enough for his daughter, until the mission proves otherwise. For the Truman Brothers, music and the gospel are in their DNA, Sons of Dan Truman of Diamond Rio and Nashville Tribute Band fame and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, they spent their formative years in green rooms, backstages, and tour buses as well as sacrament meetings and Young Men activities. Their pedigree would suggest an automatic attraction to the family business, but post-mission life found the brothers pursuing higher education. It wasn't until attending college in the same town that their musical roots would take hold. They began writing songs together for the first time, and despite their Nashville upbringing, their sound found a home in the catchy choruses and undeniable melodies of modern pop music.

IF all goes well, next week will be another Tony Robbins Week and we will release 5 episodes during one weeks time! BACKGROUND ABOUT THE PODCAST LDS AND MEDIUM:I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, or LDS for short. All my life I felt awkward and out of place, not because of my religion, but because of my spiritual gifts. It was hard to combine the idea of what first seemed like two separate worlds. So my whole life I have tried. I have learnt more about my gifts, and stayed faithful to my faith. But then I heard people left the church because it seems impossible to combine the two. So I am here, to try and mend the rift. To show that it is possible to be both LDS and to have, and use, our spiritual gifts. I am not alone on this journey, but my sister, who just is waking up to her spiritual gifts is by my side and she will also share her story. If you like what I do, then you can find me here: https://linktr.ee/ldsandmediumIf you have words of support or stories that you anonymously want me to share please write me at ldsandmedium@gmail.com. The highest-grossing film of 1998 that was nominated for four Oscars (yes), “Armageddon,” makes its also-awful counterpart “Deep Impact” look like “Citizen Kane.” This explosion-(in space?)-filled blockbuster is another in the painful pop culture cancer filmographies of director Michael Bay and producer Jerry Bruckheimer that likes to remind its audience 500 times that America can do no wrong. Bruce Willis plays Harry Stamper, “the best” deep sea oil driller to ever live, who is asked by NASA to dig 800 feet down into a bound-for-earth Texas-sized angry astroid, place a nuke in it, and blow it up without dying. Ben Affleck plays A.J. Frost, Harry’s best employee who is banging his daughter and likes to hotdog too much, do bad standup bits about animal crackers, sing awfully, and force us to listen to his bad Australian accent. Liv Tyler plays Willis’ daughter, Grace, whose only job in this movie is to be in love with A.J. and to scream at everyone in Mission Control, who strangely allow her in the room. Oh, and be about to have sex while her actual dad serenades her via the soundtrack. Ew. Billy Bob Thornton plays Dan Truman, who fills the Ed Harris in “Apollo 13” role as the leader in NASA's Mission Control room. They squeeze in some bizarre backstory for him where he has Forrest Gump braces on his legs and therefore couldn't be an astronaut. And of course there's the rag-tag crew of Bruce Willis’ drillers that includes Steve Buscemi (who plays a genius pedophile), Owen Wilson (who plays a super annoying cowboy geologist), Will Patton (who plays a gambling-addicted dude who only kind of wants his family back), and Michael Clarke Duncan (who plays a giant dude who cries a lot and wears leopard-print undies). There’s also some lame astronauts (gross) and a bunch of cameos by awful ‘90s comedians. Join us as we discuss the awful dialogue (“We’re all daddies, here”), mail-order brides, and the fine country of Samoa. Jenn is also the director the opening film from Frightfest 2018, The Ranger! Her chosen film? Armageddon! Directed by the Master of Mayhem, Michael Bay, and featuring a gargantuan, and frankly brilliant, cast, Armageddon is the summer blockbuster you love to hate, despite it being the highest grossing film of 1998. Is the hate valid? Is there more to this driller thriller than meets the eye?   The synopsis is as follows:  When an asteroid threatens to collide with Earth, NASA honcho Dan Truman determines the only way to stop it is to drill into its surface and detonate a nuclear bomb. This leads him to renowned driller Harry Stamper, who agrees to helm the dangerous space mission provided he can bring along his own hotshot crew. The most notable monster created by Howard Phillips Lovecraft was completely omnipotent, yet completely uncaring.  A massive, tentacled being that sleeps in the depths of the ocean--Cthulhu.  A creature that will one day rise again from its watery home to reclaim the Earth for itself. In this episode of Here Be Monsters, we team up with Eric Molinsky of the Imaginary Worlds Podcast from Panoply Studios. Eric speaks with Sheldon Solomon, a psychologist who co-founded the study of Terror Management Theory.  Solomon explains the absurd lengths that humans go to avoid realizing their own mortality.  And thus, Eric embarks on a fictional journey to find out why a creature so loathsome is constantly being turned into Cthulhu plushy toys and Cthulhu onesies for babies. Eric visits a store call Love Craft in Redhook, New York, where he meets Roberta Suydam (played by Ann Scobie). Roberta tells him to look in the water off Rockaway point, Cthulhu is real.  Seeking confirmation, he visits the Lovecraft Archives, deep in a basement lab in Lovecraft's hometown of Providence, Rhode Island.  There, professor George Angell (played by Dan Truman) introduces him to the re-animated brain of "Howard" (played by Bill Lobely).  Howard Lovecraft turns out to be just as racist in death as he was in life.  Deciding to take matters into his own hands, Eric rents a boat to see what's out there in the waters off Rockaway Point, but as he draws closer to the dome rising from the water, he finds himself at wits' end.Balancing the literary genius of Lovecraft's dark mythos with his unabashed xenophobia is no easy task.  Readers must either choose to ignore the troubling aspects of his personal character, or disgrace him for his beliefs.  Or possibly, they may superposition themselves in both camps at once, trying understand Lovecraft as if he's a just another creature in a universe of his own making.Music: Serocell
