Dach, fir eng schonn: fir d'Akaafskultur. Viru knapps 10 Joer hate 7 Fraen sech an de Kapp gesat, déi ze revolutionnéieren, an domat d'Gesellschaft nohalteg ze veränneren. Si hate séier Succès: fir hiert Konzept vum Null-Verpackungsbutték si si mam Innovatiounspräis ausgezeechent ginn, hu kuerz drop den éischten “Ouni” op der Gare opgemaach. What if living to 98—healthy, vibrant, and strong—wasn't just a dream, but something completely achievable with today's technology? In this eye-opening episode, we're joined by Dr. William Kapp, who pulls back the curtain on what he calls the "longevity crisis"—a global issue that goes beyond just living longer. With birth rates plummeting worldwide and aging populations demanding more resources, the balance between lifespan and healthspan has never been more crucial. Dr. Kapp shares the cutting-edge science behind high-performance aging and reveals why most healthcare systems are stuck in a sick care model, spending 97% of their massive $4.9 trillion budget on fixing what's broken rather than preventing illness in the first place. But there's hope—because with the right tools, knowledge, and strategies, reaching a robust 98 is within our grasp. Tune in to discover how we can flip the script on aging, embrace preventative care, and secure a future where longevity doesn't mean decline—it means thriving. The information presented in Fully Alive is for educational and informational purposes only and is not intended as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. While I doubt any of us would purposefully cheer on ableist behavior in our daily work, what if I told you that you may be secretly promoting ableism every single day? This week we do some tough reflection on the medical model that most of us work within and how it may inherently dismiss the environmental factors at play in determining the impact of disabilities on individuals' lives. And while we're boosters of the neurodiversity movement, is it possible that their critiques might be going too far in regards to ABA? Hot buttons will get pressed in this episode! Maybe it's the lousy Smarch weather, but we're in a bit of a mood to start of this month. Not because our special guests aren't awesome. We had so much fun learning about qualitative analyses in exploring RBT burnout with Dr. Nicole Gravina and how to be more ethically responsible in creating meaningful goals for autistic adolescents and adults with Dr. Shanna Bahry. And not because we're not reviewing tough issues like turnover in human services, deconstructing ableist practices in the medical model, and respectfully disagreeing with the abolitionist neurodiversity critique. Man, the more episodes we do around how well-meaning authorities tend to fall back to maintaining the inequitable status quo, the more examples of it we find. This week, we look at many of the practices in schools that continue to perpetuate ableism and what behavior analysts can do to disrupt these trends. And, spoiler alert, half of these practices were actually implemented to INCREASE access to education for individuals with disabilities. It turns out just trying to be nice doesn't actually fix much without a solid understanding of individual perspectives. So, y'know, listen to the episode and don't be “that guy”. In this week's episode we're featuring Kentucky's Hugh X. Lewis' fourth album for Kapp Records: "Country Fever" (1968). A high school buddy and his songwriting chops lead him to Nashville in 1963 and after Paul Cohen signed him to Kapp, Lewis cut some super material through our feature album's release (which was his last for the label). Lewis' wrote or co-wrote nine of his fifteen charting singles so it's no surprise his hand is prolific on "Country Fever" (particularly the B-side) and it's a better album for it.
