From growing up on the fringes of Hollywood's inner circle to navigating the highs and lows of an unpredictable acting career, William McNamara brings a lifetime of stories, and hard-earned perspective, to this episode of Media Path. The seasoned actor has produced a series called The Trouble with Billy, based on his own life (now available for purchase in pre-release) and Billy joins us to reflect on an unconventional childhood shaped by early exposure to the industry. His mom palled around with Valerie Perrine and a very young Billy found himself on sets and at parties with Bob Fosse, Ryan O'Neal, and Elliot Gould, experiences that fueled his desire to earn a spot for himself within the entertainment community. His determination was challenged when his folks, in an effort to shield him from Manhattan's temptations, sent him away to boarding school at the age of 11. Billy found his way back to NYC by getting into Columbia, auditing film classes at NYU and immersing himself in archival footage at the Museum of Broadcasting.Billy was quickly booking commercials and modeling jobs and when he landed a film role and wanted to drop out of college, his parents threatened to cut him off. He said, “Not a problem. I've got $100,000 in the bank.”Billy talks reverently about the impact of the groundbreaking 1992 TV movie Doing Time on Maple Drive, in which he portrays a gay young man named Matt, in the midst of his agonizing journey towards coming out to his parents. This film continues to change and save lives.Behind the scenes on Maple Drive, Billy met the lost and disheveled actor who would play his brother. Unimpressed but willing to lend advice, Billy watched as his co-star, Jim Carrey attacked and mastered the art of dramatic acting.Set to play Montgomery Clift in a TV movie about Elizabeth Taylor, Billy's mentor Roddy McDowall arranged a rare interlude with Ms. Taylor during which she imparted a cherished memory and acting lesson from her dear friend Monty.Billy's experience on Dream a Little Dream with the “two Coreys,” was more of a nightmare, trapped inside the undisciplined Coreys bubble which featured them either coming to work or not, depending upon the hangover. Hoping to broaden his range, Billy took on the role of a serial killer which threatened to murder his confidence. Test screenings of Copycat led to weeks of reshoots. Billy was panicking until Roddy brought in his friend Tony for some serial killer coaching. It was Anthony Hopkins! This is a candid, emotional, and deeply reflective conversation about resilience, reinvention, and a turbulent show biz path that has served to inspire William McNamara's deeply personal new project, The Trouble with Billy. In current recommendations--Lisa: Twisted Yoga on Apple TV+Weezy: David Archuleta's Memoir, Devout: Losing My Faith To Find MyselfPath Points of Interest:The Trouble with BillyThe Trouble With Billy on YoutubeWilliam McNamara on WikipediaWilliam McNamara on IMDBWilliam McNamara on InstagramWilliam McNamara on FacebookTwisted YogaDevout: Losing My Faith To Find Myself by David ArchuletaDavid Archuleta

David Archuleta became famous at 17 years old, when he was a finalist on “American Idol.” He joins us to talk about his new memoir, coming out as gay and about leaving the LDS Church.
In this transparent, relatable, and deeply personal episode, David Archuleta opens up about faith, identity, and self discovery while discussing his memoir Devout: Losing My Faith to Find Myself. Raised by a Honduran mother and a white father, David reflects on growing up between cultures, navigating Latinidad, and learning to fully embrace his heritage. He shares how serving a mission in South America strengthened his Spanish and expanded his understanding of community, culture, and belief. The conversation also explores the pressure of religious expectations, family trauma, and the emotional toll of reconciling faith with his same sex attraction. David speaks honestly about his three engagements to women, shame, healing, and what it took to step away from what no longer aligned with who he truly is even his church. From the legacy of his multi platinum hit Crush to honoring Latin classics like Contigo en la Distancia, this episode connects music, culture, and identity in a way that feels raw and real. At its core, this conversation is about courage, growth, and choosing authenticity. If you have ever questioned your faith, struggled with belonging, or felt caught between cultures, this one will resonate. Nigel's guest today is David Archuleta. Singer David rose to national fame in 2008 as the runner-up on American Idol when he was just seventeen, captivating millions with his angelic voice. Behind the scenes, however, he was struggling with a truth he feared would destroy everything: he was attracted to men. David was also a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints. The two things clashed brutally leading to shame, worthlessness and wanting to take his own life. Now a beautifully open queer man, his book Devout – Losing My Faith To Find Myself details the journey he has had to take to juggle his faith, fame and identity. It is a phenomenal and powerful read. This series is a celebration of a beautiful queer community; people of all ages, people who have had to tread their own path to live their real truth, who have fought with their emotions and emerged victorious, who inspire, who aspire and always entertain. Hosted by Nigel May. Every episode Nigel speaks to a person from the LGBTQIA+ rainbow to hear their story; one person, one life, one conversation. In this powerful and deeply personal episode, we sit down with David Archuleta to discuss his new memoir, Devout: Losing My Faith to Find Myself. David opens up about his life inside of Mormonism, his rise to fame on American Idol, his mission, his relationship with Church leaders, and the long, painful journey toward self-acceptance as a gay man. This conversation goes far beyond headlines. David walks us through the internalized shame, religious scrupulosity, and obsessive righteousness that shaped his childhood and young adulthood. He reflects on the messages he received about masculinity, sexuality, and obedience –and how those teachings distorted his understanding of intimacy, trust, and self-worth.We explore David's experiences with Mormon apostles, including M. Russell Ballard, the November 2015 Policy, and the unsettling realization that Church leaders often spoke with certainty despite privately admitting they had no answers. David shares what it was like to be counseled to marry a woman, to suppress his identity, and to believe his faith could “heal” him –while quietly spiraling toward despair. This episode also addresses growing up in a Mormon bubble, religious OCD, messages about LGBTQ people, chastity and sin, fame and unpaid church services, leaving the church and reclaiming agency and what happiness and God look like for him now.David speaks with extraordinary honest, vulnerability, and compassion –not just for himself, but for the countless LGBTQ people still navigating high-demand religions.Order his book here.___________________YouTubeAt Mormon Stories we explore, celebrate, and challenge Mormon culture through in-depth stories told by members and former members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as well as scholars, authors, LDS apologists, and other professionals. Do you ever feel like you're living according to someone else's rules? How do you find the courage to be yourself when you know not everyone is going to be on board? My guest is David Archuleta, platinum-selling singer-songwriter, former American Idol runner-up, and author of the new memoir Devout. In this episode, David gets real about the intense pressure to please his family, his church, and his fans—and what it took to finally trust his own voice and make choices that align with who he really is. Some of the things we discuss are: How toxic family dynamics and the pressure to please can strip away your self-trust The terrifying reality of living a double life to meet religious and societal expectations Why setting boundaries—even with family—is essential for your mental health The moment David realized he had to stop waiting for permission to be himself How making mistakes is actually a gift, not a failure Why breaking free from control can feel lonely at first, but is the only path to true freedom How to start trusting your own decisions, even when you're terrified of the outcome Subscribe to Mentally Stronger Premium for exclusive content like weekly bonus episodes, mental strength challenges, and office hours with me. In one of our most important episodes, David joins us to talk about his new book “Devout—Losing My Faith to Find Myself”. In this episode, David talks about his journey with God to find his path forward as a queer Mormon considering suicide—a path that led David to separate himself from the Church—taking God with him—and live authentically. David gives excellent advice to younger queer people and parents to better support queer kids. I conclude with some of my thoughts on continuing to love and support those that leave our Church (not making them the hero on day for staying in the church and the villain the next day for leaving) and thanking David for his many years of service in the Church and the countless lives he has blessed. Thank you, David, for being on our podcast and your courage to continue to share your story. You are one of my heroes—you continue to help so many find hope in their lives. I encourage everyone to listen/share this episode and consider what we can do to better support our queer friends. Fueled by a love for iconic throwbacks and today's most talked-about moments, these two besties serve up unfiltered opinions, sharp humor, and a deep appreciation for the drama that keeps entertainment interesting. From Y2K nostalgia to red carpet chaos, award show upsets to reality TV scandals, nothing is off-limits. Whether they're revisiting the cultural staples that defined an era or breaking down the latest internet-breaking headlines, expect hot takes, deep dives, and plenty of side-eye. If your playlist lives somewhere between classic R&B and current chart-toppers, if you still quote your favorite 2000s movies on the daily, and if you love a little (or a lot of) flair with your pop culture commentary—this is the podcast you've been waiting for. Press play, lean in, and get ready to REWIND.

90 Day Gays: A 90 Day Fiancé Podcast with Matt Marr & Jake Anthony
A Note From the Gays:Y'all, both of us were racking our brains trying to think of things to say to give you a good GD this week, but everything we came up with a little tone deaf after the events of yesterday. It felt a little difficult to talk about fashion at the Emmys when freedom of speech seems like it's more jeopardized than ever. So, we recorded an intro consisting of a few minutes of us chatting about how we're feeling, just to let you know where we are, and maybe to give you a little hope as well as some ideas of how you can feel less overwhelmed and powerless. More importantly, we've given you peak disassociation material: we're releasing our first “road trip“ podcast (only previously available on RG+) that we recorded on the way to see David Archuleta in San Bernardino a few years ago. This is truly unhinged content, and it will either bring you great joy, or extreme anxiety. We will be back with another Gayly Dose next week, but for now, tune in, turn on, and keep going, Queens! - M&PEpisode title:Life After Lockup: 0359 "BITTER BABY MAMAS & BAE-CATIONS"The original episode aired on December 11, 2021 on Patreonhttps://www.patreon.com/posts/special-episode-59816090?utm_medium=clipboard_copy&utm_source=copyLink&utm_campaign=postshare_creator&utm_content=join_link MERCH IS HERE! "Earthly Delights" The earthly pleasures of the temporal world are fine food, expensive wine, monetary wealth, a long list of friends and raves that last for days. The Miami-born David Archuleta is no stranger to earthly delights--with almost ten albums to his name that have yielded millions of sales and countless multi-platinum hits all over the globe, Archuleta is back with a new six-song EP called Earthly Delights. A smooth platter of pop, R&B and disco, set against percolating beats and synth pop grooves, Earthly Delights finds Archuletla's vocal finesse paired with infectious, textured arrangements. It's lovely work. So why did I open with raves? Well, because David has recently discovered them and along with the freedom, social liberation, acceptance and joy of rave culture, it's also awakened him musically and it really shows on this EP. www.davidarchuleta.com (https://davidarchuleta.com/music/) www.bombshellradio.com (http://www.bombshellradio.com) www.stereoembersmagazine.com (http://www.stereoembersmagazine.com) Stereo Embers: IG + BLUESKY: @emberspodcast Email: editor@stereoembersmagazine.com

On this episode of Pop Culture Weekly with Kyle McMahon we've got an absolutely stacked lineup: Tony Hale, Darcy Carden, David Archuleta and Seth Worley, Bianca Belle and Kalon Kox, Yeah, try fitting all that talent into one podcast - good luck, Apple Podcasts algorithm!First up, director Seth Worley and actors Bianca Belle and Kalon Cox take us inside their wild, heartfelt film Sketch - a movie inspired by childhood doodles, sprinkled with Roger Rabbit chaos, and stirred with a dash of Inside Out feels. Then comedy icons Tony Hale and D'Arcy Carden drop by to talk about finding humor (and yes, actual whimsy) in grief. Who else could make you laugh and cry in the same breath better than these two?And just when you think we couldn't pack in more greatness, David Archuleta joins me for a deep, hilarious, and surprisingly candid convo. We cover everything: his “lover boy era,” sliding into DMs, the bilingual bangers on his new EP Earthly Delights, and how he's turned fame, anxiety and faith into an unstoppable creative force. Oh, and of course - tour talk, because David isn't just bringing the feels, he's bringing the full-on stage spectacle. Here's what you'll hear in this episode:

Whether you're an aspiring cafe owner or a seasoned vet trying to better understand your margins, this episode is all about transparency and growth. We even get into how our inventory systems evolved, our goals for tracking waste, and the tradeoffs of running a coffee business where profit margins are razor-thin.
