And how terrifying is that final showdown at Casa de Machine? PLUS: “Marc Maron” asks Machine who his guys are! 8MM stars Nicolas Cage, Joaquin Phoenix, James Gandolfini, Peter Stormare, Anthony Heald, Catherine Keener, Myra Carter, Amy Morton, and Chris Bauer as Machine; directed by Joel Schumacher. “I know I'm not one of your favorites. I'm not even welcome in your house. But I could use a little attention.” Pete's sister Amy joins us to talk about our favorite leading man, Keanu Reeves, in "Constantine", which just had its 20th anniversary last month. We know this movie is hardly perfect, but this cast, though. Keanu Reeves was directly after he made the Matrix sequels, and Rachel Weisz has a face card that none of us can deny. We'd gladly go to Hell and back for these two. Truly a fever dream of the mid-00s. Tilda Swinton plays a gender-fluid fallen angel, Gabriel. Peter Stormare from Fargo plays Satan dressed in white linens, and Shia LaBeouf may or may not be playing his exact same character from Charlies Angel's: Full Throttle. Truly a moment to be alive. We discuss Francis Lawrence's intimidating music video background, Amy and Pete's journey through Catholic school, post-Passion of the Christ Hollywood, and pre-MCU comic book movies.   Thanks for listening and don't forget to subscribe, rate and review us on Apple Podcasts! www.patreon.com/moviesthatmadeusgay Facebook/Instagram: @moviesthatmadeusgay Bluesky: @MTMUGPod.bsky.social Scott Youngbauer: Twitter @oscarscott / Instagram @scottyoungballer Peter Lozano: Twitter/Instagram Peterlasagna

I veckans avsnitt av ”Så in i Själen” möter ni Peter Stormare! Varmt välkomna till ”Så in i Själen”. This week on Fabulous Film and Friends we're covering a trio of Neo Noir films set in the city of…where else? Los Angeles, as we discuss 1998's The Big Lewbowski, directed by Joel and Ethan Coen and starring the extraordinary Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, Julianne Moore, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, David Huddleston, John Tutturo, Ben Gazara, David Thewlis, Tara Reid, Peter Stormare, Leon Russom and Sam Elliot against 2014's Inherent Vice directed by Paul Thomas Anderson starring Joaquin Phoenix, Josh Brolin, Owen Wilson, Katherine Waterston, Benicio Del Toro, Reese Witherspoon, Martin Short, Jena Malone, Maya Rudolph Martin Donovan and Hong Chau, topped off with 2018's Under the Silver Lake  directed by  David Robert Mitchell  and  starring Andrew Garfield, Riley Keough, Topher Grace, Grace Van Patten,  Riki Lindhome, Wendy vanden Heuvel, Callie Hernandez, Jimmi Simpson, Zosia Mamet, Jeremy Bob, Rex Lynn, Patrick Fischler and Sydney Sweeney. My guests today are Roseanne Caputi and back by popular demand, Gordon Alex Robertson! Before contemplating the endless currents of depth and consciousness, man, the synopses:  The Big Lebowski,  follows a lot of ins-and-outs and what-have-you's of a very complicated case when two goons working for porn king Jackie Treehorn mistakenly burst into the apartment of Jeffrey “The Dude” Lebowski  demanding money that his supposed wife Bunny owes Jackie.  Realizing their mistake but still adding the flourish of urinating on the Dude's favorite rug, the pair leaves and gets the hang loose and tolerant Dude's dander up.  Dude the sets off finding the wealthy Jeffrey Lebowski that the pair were looking for and asks him for compensation for his soiled rug. The Big Lebowski flat out refuses the request, calls the Dude a bum, and kicks him out of his house. Surprisingly, a few days later The Big Lebowski summons The Dude to his mansion and asks him to act as a courier to a group of nihilists who have abducted his wife Bunny and are demanding a million dollars in ransom. With his reactionary ‘Nam vet bowling buddy Walter Sobchak at his side, the Dude enters a web of deception, greed and pain as he tries to make sense of the convoluted and problematical condition that he finds himself in.  Inherent Vice ups the ante with ex-cop and junkie P.I. Larry “Doc” Sportello who follows a trail of real estate fraud, heroin smuggling, corrupt federal agents and dentists when his ex-girlfriend Shasta Faye re-enters his life and gives him the tip that her current boyfriend, real estate tycoon Mickey Wolfman, has a wife who is trying to have him committed. With rival LA Police Lt. Detective Christian “Bigfoot” Bjornsen working alternately, with and against him, Doc plows into the labyrinthian case headfirst aided by only his wits and piles of weed and coke in the desperate quest for the truth.  Under the Silver Lake follows a journey through endless hidden messages, conspiracies and millennial self-discovery as perennial slacker Sam tries to uncover the truth regarding the disappearance of his beautiful neighbor Sarah, who vanishes without a trace a day after billionaire industrialist Jefferson Sevence is killed a car crash. Which film best exemplifies the whole L.A. thing? Find out!

This week on The Pod Charles Cinecast, it's Week 2 of the new miniseries – BROTHERLY LOVE – where we'll once a month be pitting some films from filmmaking brothers the Coen Brothers vs. the Farrelly Brothers. This month, we'll be looking at two of the biggest films from each brother duo, with Joel and Ethan Coen's Academy Award-winning film from 1996, FARGO, vs Peter and Bobby Farrelly's smash hit from 1998, THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY (we decided to jump ahead to 1998 for Farrelly's so we could pit 1996's Kingpin vs 1998's The Big Lebowski – you know... bowling, dude!)In Fargo, Frances McDormand shines as a pregnant police officer attempting to solve three murders in her jurisdiction, that all lead back to William H. Macy – a car salesman who hires two criminals (Steve Buscemi and Peter Stormare) to kidnap his wife for ransom money. It stands as the Coen Brothers' signature film, that inspired a television, and introduced the world to the endearing Minnesota accent. With a stellar cast, incredible performances, top-notch writing and direction, and brilliant cinematography, it'd be hard for most films to beat it.So, how did There's Something About Mary compare? Ben Stiller plays a guy who's looking for the girl that got away – the simply perfect, Mary, played by Cameron Diaz in her breakthrough role. When he hires a private investigator (Matt Dillion) to track her down, the investigator also falls for Mary, leading to a silly love triangle. We've got balls being zipped up in trousers, dogs being drugged, NFL Superstars getting tackled by normal men playing intellectually challenged men, and old lady boobs. It's a Farrelly Brothers film... At least there is the wonderful Jonathan Richman to sing us through the film.Which brother will win Brotherly Love, and be crowned the best brother filmmaking duo of the 90s? Tread Perilously's Winter 2024 Patreon request month continues with an episode of Leverage called "The Office Job." When the team is called in to root out a greeting card company CEO's embezzlement scheme before it can impact the sale of the business to a larger firm and save the town, they find their movements are being recorded by a documentary film crew. Will their antics be discovered? Will their identities remain intact? Will Parker fascinate the German filmmaker tasked with shooting B-Roll and talking heads? Or will the team find the director the most unlikely of allies? And what of the scheme itself -- is it really the CEO behind it? Justin is thrilled to finally watch an episode of Leverage for the podcast. Erik isn't so sure, but renames the lead character "Max Leverage." Parker, and actor Beth Riesgraf, become an instant hit. The presence of Peter Stormare as a Werner Herzog type is also welcome. And so is Gina Bellman in glasses. A superhero movie discussion breaks out. The pair try to determine when the US version of The Office stopped doing interstitial moments of the water cooler. Erik fails to recast the Herzog character and decides he didn't watch an episode of Leverage.

A murderous "witch doctor" from South Africa and the ritual killing of teenagers and children. Basically the perfect script for Italian Americans to write. Jake, Julian and Liv tackle a listener submission: 2023's The Ritual Killer. The film has an inexplicably stacked cast: Morgan Freeman, Cole Hauser, Vernon Davis, Peter Stormare... and guess what? It's a masterpiece. No idea why it bombed.
